They have a influence but it is hard to prove what is learned and what inherited. Sometimes I get scared when my "father comes out of me", one could say I have his temperament. But for most parts I feel that we are indeed tabula rasa. |

hehe the blank slate, I learnt it in psychology I think we are born with certain traits, we may resemble parents but we have our own genetic makeup, hence why siblings often have very different personalities. Yes we can change but I think certain tendencies stay with us. |

I think disposition/tempermant is inherited or predetermined in our DNA. Like for instance, being an introvert or an extrovert. You cant change from one to the other, you are either an introvert or an extrovert and that is what you always are and there are certain personality traits that come with that. |

im gonna disagree with you Michele. I think I may have been more extroverted as a child if I wasnt teased for this or that. I got teased and picked on alot by relatives. Mainly for being a shade too tan then the rest of the clan. I mean, really mean teasing. Stuff I wouldnt never say to a kid. But besides that. I was always fearful of new people. Adults and kids my age mainly because of the teasing. Thats how I found my love of books. I never had to venture out cause I read alot and I lived vicariously through the characters. I do in real life as an adult, have a fun outgoing personality. When we go out I make everyone laugh at something or other. I feel Im gaining whatever I was left out. My sisters and bro are mega extroverts. Im still working on it. |

I disagree. You are naturally more introverted, yes you can be extroverted at times. I am the same way. I am mainly introverted but I can be very outgoing with people I am used to and comfortable with. But in most aspects, I am totally an introvert. I have always been that way, and I believe I always will be. |

Perhaps. I find myself more extroverted with folks I know but if you introduce me to new folks I can be the same. Depends on how inebriated I am though. Thats my boost.

I'm gonna say Inherited... I have my mother's lack of patience... And my fathers anger management problems. Yet I make friends easier than either of my parents. |

I'm completely different from my parents. My dad has had major anger management issues and looks at everything from a negative perception. My mother is a "feelings"person, although she hardly hits the mark when it comes to me. I developed my own traits and stuff. I'm so far removed from what my family is, you would think we weren't related if it weren't for me looking EXACTLY like my sister |
