Breaking the credit card addiction; how long can I go?

not that I have ever had MASSIVE credit card debt like some people who owe like 20,000, some even a lot more than that. The most I have ever had as a balance was like $8,000 and that was several years ago, all of that has been paid off.

But you would think I would have learned my lesson, I didnt. I am now in about $5,000 credit card debt. It is amazing how quickly it can add up, putting things on there here and there that dont even cost that much individually. I think my problem is the internet, finding things online that I want and need and can only buy online therefore I am forced to use my card. Or when I am out, and I need something and I dont have cash on me and so I will use my credit card or I may have some cash but not enough so I pay for it with both cash and credit card.

But no more. I shall not be a slave to the credit cards! I have taken my card out of my wallet and put it away so that it is out of sight. So when I am out I cannot use it at all. And it is not anywhere where I can see it so hopefully I wont be tempted to use it to order things online or via a catalogue. I need to be viligant, and to stick with this for at least a handful of months. Then once I stop using it and get it paid down, I can then use it ON OCCASION, and only when I really really need it.

Starting tomm, March 1, I will be doing the countdown to see how long I can go without using it and how much I can get my card paid down. Lets see what cash alone can or cant get me.

if I buy frivlous shit it will be with cash!

I just need to forget that I even have credit cards!

I think my worst problem is with it is buying clothes. I almost always put clothes on the credit card. Always have, ever since I got my first credit card at age 20, which was an Express card.

I dont buy as much clothes as I used to, not even by a long shot! I used to constantly buy clothes, now I only buy clothes like 4 times a year, lol. I will have to buy some spring/summer clothes come april though

I agree I dont think that men should have to pay all the time. I dont think that is fair and I have never been like that.

I just checked my bank account. Score! My $605 tax return just came in! :yahoo Now I have to make sure that all of it goes towards my credit card bill. I need to act like it isnt even in there until I get enough money in my account this week to cover all my other bills.

I am going to pin this topic so that we can all share advice and such on budgeting, managing debt, and avoiding debt.

And who died and made you god to pin it in the first place? It's cluttered up here, I say this can stay pinned for a week. Its just not practicial enough to have pinned.

what do you mean it is not practical? This thread is about practicality! It is not cluttered up here, there is hardly anything pinned. Heath's thread should be unpinned, he died over a month ago now.

If a lot of people post in this thread then it should remain pinned.

Just because you have a credit card problem doesn't mean everyone else does!

I'm unpinning this just because of what you did to the Heath thread, which I pinned back!

Pin it back if you wish, such a waste of space.
