My first review from the main book review thread:

It was dismal and horrific, with an unresolved ending. The writing was simplistic. But the the plot, again, dismal and horrific, very weird but the visuals will make you cringe, I know I did and some of the scenes described within.

Hard to say if I would recommend it, I would say read it if you want to see people terrorized in a most unlikely manner. Don't want to give the whole plot away, but Little Shops of Horrors definately will come into your mind while reading.

What I was saying, Jesse, is that it seems like these are leading themselves into failure. Honestly, who just goes to help looking for someone's brother?

It was all about the adventure of going to the ruins more than finding the brother, at that point they didn't expect anything bad to have happened.

Jeff knew. He knew that they shouldn't be going, but he didn't speak up. Nobody ever speaks up!

Jesse, why does the Mayans let them go? Why didn't they just kill them for trying to go into the Ruins? And I must say these people are kind of stupid because EVERYTHING they came across has tried to keep them from going into the ruins and yet they still go. It's like doing what Simon says, but Simons an idiot.

the book is okay so far. I am only 35 pages into it. But what really fucking annoys me is that there are no chapters in the book! I know, shouldnt be a big deal but I like to have chapters as I tell myself I will read till this chapter today, etc. It is nice to have that finish line of a goal so to speak when you are reading a book.

I read about 40 pages yesterday. I am now up to page 90. I am starting to get into it, but not a whole lot. I am at the part where the Mayan men from the village are for some reason forcing them to go up the hill, even though originally the guy was trying to tell them to go back and to not go any further. :shrug

I think I know why the Mayans forced them to go up the hill. Because Amy's foot touched the vine. Once that happened it was like doomsday. Once the vine has been in contact with a person, then the vine will keep going after that person until they get it. So if they tried to go back from wence they came, the vine would follow and would go out beyond the clearing, possibly into the Mayan village if they tried to run to the village to get away from the vine and the villagers cant let that happen so any time a stranger comes looking for the ruins, the Mayans have to try to get them to stay away and if they dont and keep persuing it, then they have to make sure that once they come in contact with the hill they must stay there till they die and cannot come back down.
