Question that often comes to my mind after watching news, reading a newspaper or heck.. you can't go through one history book without being faced with horrors caused by organized, or just popular, religion. Should organized religion be illegal? |

I left the Church last September. I have never been a believer. I feel that organized religion often brings out the worst in us. We abandon reason and even conscience to follow rules that are no longer suitable. Faith will always be a personal thing for me. I do not need others to believe what I believe. I go with what I feel is right. I have an idea and it is enough. I do not think it should be illegal but I think all should consider why they belong to it. |

IT DEFINATELY SHOULD BE ILLEGAL! In a perfect world, it would be!!! That would be my ultimate dream! I have this quote on my myspace: "When the rapture comes we will finally get our country back"

Loving Life

Well said I left the church half hearted over a year ago and then late last year wholeheartedly let go of it Most people do have faith :) but I'd love religion to be illegal. But going by the looks of things it will never be or for a long time to come anyway... There will always be power hunger between the different religions to rule over all and be the ultimate one. Besides faith shouldn't be forced or shoved in your face Everyone should be free to discover what they believe in, in their own good time. Not saying those in a religion are brainwashed Ok wait lol some are but most aren't. Religion divides and creates power struggles, not a peaceful mixture, never has been and never will be. |

The Great Old One

Carl Marx once said that Organized Religion is the Opiate of the masses. I would like to see more of a seperation between church and state and not have this once great country under the leadership of anymore rich, bible thumpin, gun totin, bigotted morons! But back on topic, It should be illegal for some people. But hey that won't happen either. I would like to see the re-institution of feeding the Overly Religious nut-fucks of the world to lions. Starting with Pat Robertson, Osama Binladen, and Billy Gram (but then again that might be considered as cruelty to animals) I'm a born again heretic, that likes to frighten off Door to door "bible thumpers" |

I just saw this video on YouTube. It is really interesting to see how many celebrities and nobel prize winners, pulitzer prize winners and such are atheists. Although a good handful of the people in it I have no idea who they are. I guess some of them are writers or scientists or something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3BuvYtp7qs |

Feed em to the lions! Reminds of the song Lion's Den by the mighty MORBID ANGEL, which is about the roman day of old when they did just that, "Kill em all! Kill em all for slander! Kill em all! And mute their ways!" Then again, its a method Christians employed once they got into power. Not feeding to lions, but a host of other horrible things. |

I thankfully live in a country where state and church are completely separated. we donīt say things like: God save this nation or our queen etc. It is completely separated and it seemed to work for a very long time. unfortunately, after the 9/11 attacks, the muslims were viewed with a tinge of fear. As a direct result, the muslims in my country felt the need to assert themselves and now, we have this big discussion on allowing followers of the muslim faith to incorporate their religious beliefs in our everyday, secular society. It would almost make me want to have religion made illegal to avoid issues like that. |

I'm all for the separation of church and state but to abolish organized religion is nothing short of fascist. And anyway, human beings being what they are would just find something else to kill each other over. |

True that. It suddenly made me think of the prosecution of the Falun Gong people in China! Funny how my view on religion totally clouded my better judgement! Another thing dictators and I have in common. |

Haven't yall heard? Devout Protasant Christians claim they don't follow a religion it's "a relationship with God/Jesus" not a religion. I don't know sounds like complete bullshit to me. Just a way to say, no I'm not the one non-Christians complain about I'm not a religious nut. I'm a good friend of Jesus. I don't know if I would want it to be illegal, making a belief illegal has the same logic to me as the idea of "War on Terror" You can't kill an idea if that was possible then Christianity would never have made it this far cause the Romans would have stoped it. I am all for seperation of Chirch and State but I can't stand that these fucktards that are in the gov can't seem to understand what that means.

Totally! preach sistah! A true friend of Jesus would have told the big guy up there that; things went a bit pearshaped and should'nt he do something about it?
