im a very plain kinda gal.

I hate floral "girly shit"

give me straight lines and blandness!

I am not much into florals either, decor doesnt have to have anything to do with floral. I like patterns, textures, rich colors and a complementary mixture of all of these things. My decor is very man friendly but yet very woman friendly as well.

I just got reminded of the first time my guy ever cooked me dinner.
I was 19 and living in an apt with my sister.

We were fucking broke and could hardly buy food.
My sister went out with her friends and I was home alone.

I told him I was broke and had no money for food. He came over with baked chicken (in Italian dressing) and mac and cheese.
Id never had italian dressing chicken baked and it was just meh.
the mac and cheese was mushy but I just thought "how fucking cute is it to make me dinner and to deliver it to my house?"
thats when I knew to hold on to him as a bf.

I was just reminded of that cause im baking chicken and mac for dinner.
lol

awww, that is sweet!

I guess I dont know how to decorate.
My sister got her house later then we did and she has it all decorated.

She had stuff from her previous home though.
We had an apt so therefore not much crap.

I always tell him we need to decorate instead of wasting money going on trips and to Vegas/Mexico every few months.

He doesnt listen :alien

I want a Frida Kahlo print, a framed one for my apartment still. Her exhibit is going to be in Philly from 2/20 to 5/18. I plan to go, though I havent gotten tickets yet. I am thinking of going in april or may. I am hoping that in the shop they will have a wide selection of her art. There are a few of her paintings that I want, but they are also the ones that are hard to find in print, mostly it is her self portraits that they sell in print shops. I want one of the more interesting ones. I am hoping I can get one of the ones that I really want at the exhibit.

The only place I would have to hang it though would be on the one wall in my bedroom, across from a framed print from her husband, Diego Rivera. I have 3 framed Riveras in my apartment. I need at least 1 Frida to go with the Diegos.

lol. I like his work. I would love to go to Mexico City just to see all of his murals. I like Frida's work better than his though.

I fell in love with his work when I took a spanish class at the community college after I had graduated college, I was trying to improve my spanish to help me possibly become bilingual (which is an advantage in the social services field) and one day our class was in the computer lab and we had to look up hispanic artists and I found a website with a bunch of paintings from hispanic artists and most of the paintings on that site were his. A few months later I returned to the website and ordered 4 of his prints.

3 of them I had framed and hung in my place, the fourth one I did not frame, I hung it up on the wall in my cubicle at my first social work job. When I left that job I donated it to the agency. They had it framed and hung it up in the lobby.

I also ordered another print from another hispanic artist (a woman but I cant remember her name) which I have framed in my bathroom. It has a naked lady standing by a bathtub full of water and there are 3 people behind the tub (a woman and two men) watching. Who knows why they are there but I liked it and thought it would be nice for the bathroom.

well all of darwin's relatives have the jesus or mary pics, but none of them have a diego. Darwin hated my diego pics. I even wanted to possibly name our son (if we ever had one) Diego, not after the artist, but because I like the name. Darwin hates the name.

I also have two framed pics I bought home with me from Spain. One is a bullfighter poster and the other is a photograph of a flamenco dancer, both I bought in Seville.

You cant go to any of my families places without seeing a JESUS picture somewhere in the house.

We actually have a big silver cross over our front door but no Jesus pic.

Ok I lie. My guy has a picture of "THE LAUGHiING CHRIST"
which is kinda rare as you only see Jesus pics of him all stoic looking.

My nephews middle name is Diego.

awwwww Angelo Diego! I like that! Darwin's favorite name for a boy is Fernando, which I HATE!!!

When his sister was pregnant I had suggested Brandon as a name and she liked it so much she named him Brandon, but gave him Fernando as the middle name.

Brandon Fernando Gomez is his name

Well Darwin's brother's real name is Franz. Franz Joselo Guerrero. But he goes by Joselo. I dont know what their parents were thinking when they named him Franz! And Darwin's sister whose son I named is named Doris, again not at all a spanish name. His two other sisters are Carmen and Sandra.

lol out loud at them names.
I cant post how much I love my name!
Its so not 'too ethnic'

Julie Ann rocks on many levels.

Not one person consistantly calls me Julie.
They shorten it to Jules/Julesy.
Even my aunts/uncles/in laws/ siblings/co workers

My grandparents call me 'mija' thats OK though.

Just got through eating din din.

It was hella good!

I hate my name cause it is too common. Everywhere I go there is another Michele. At Chili's one of the bartenders is Michele, so I made the second Michele and now they just hired ANOTHER server named michele, grrrrrr!!! I hate it every time someone calls Michele I turn and most of the time they are calling one of the other two.

At my last social work job there were two other micheles besides me and I was always getting their voice mail messages.

at beauty school not only was there another michele in my class (another michele even though there were only 9 of us in the class) but her last name also began with the letter G :jesse :jesse :jesse :jesse :jesse
