A funeral service for Knoxville-born actor Brad Renfro will be 8 p.m. Monday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel in North Knoxville. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Monday before the service at the funeral home, 1304 Oglewood Ave. Renfro, 25, who appeared in such movies as John Grisham's "The Client", "Apt Pupil" and "Bully," was found dead Tuesday morning in his Los Angeles apartment. A tip from a Knoxville Police Department officer led to Renfro's casting in the Grisham movie, which launched his career. Burial is set for Tuesday at Red House Cemetery in Blaine. source Actor and Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, who filmed the 2002 movie Deuces Wild with Renfro — told The Insider he was still struggling over his the actor's passing. “I really liked Brad," Knoxville said. "[He was] extremely charming and [had] a good heart. Yeah, he got into a little trouble, but he was a sweet, sweet kid. “I don’t like to be talking about him in the past tense," he added. "He was a hometown boy who did real good, and it breaks my heart he is gone. He was so young and so sweet. “It makes me very sad.” I had a total crush on this boy |

CLOVERFIELD a Cloverfield feeding frenzy Best described as "The Blair Witch Project" meets "Godzilla," this weekend's potential blockbuster "Cloverfield" has been one of the more secretive projects Hollywood has gotten away with in years. Produced by J.J. Abrams ("Mission: Impossible III," TV's "Lost"), the film centers on a group of late 20-something New Yorkers celebrating their good friend Rob's (Michael Stahl-David) impending move to Japan for a new job. As everyday drama ensues at the party, a massive "earthquake" occurs. But the group soon realizes that some sort of giant, horrific monster is attacking New York. Mike Vogel, one of the few recognizable faces in the film, plays Charlie's brother and is best known for his roles in films such as "Poseidon" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." During an interview this week, Vogel said "Cloverfield" was unlike any project he'd worked on. The cast and crew were signed to strict confidentiality agreements and every day they had to check their sides (written scenes) in and out with the production. Even more stressful was the fact that none of the actors knew which parts they were playing until five days before shooting. So for some it came as quite a shock to discover they were going to be victims of the monster early on. Vogel says, "It was kind of interesting and kind of cool, but kind of nerve-wracking as an actor to go on that ride." It helped that many of the cast members were relatively unknown and Abrams wasn't directing the film himself ("Felicity" co-creator Matt Reeves was behind the camera), but even Vogel is surprised so little leaked out from the production -- especially because the first trailer was in theaters less than halfway through the summer 2007 shoot. "It's interesting -- you turn the clocks back 10 years to a time where the Internet was not so readily available and where you couldn't find out anything you wanted to know about a movie by a couple of key strokes, and that's what J.J. wanted to do with this," Vogel says. "Pull back some of the information, and that's what he did. It created a feeding frenzy." The more recent TV spots probably had a lot more to do with that "frenzy" than Abrams' clandestine marketing plan, but the amount of hype generated by Paramount Pictures within the geek community shouldn't be discounted if it delivers at the box office. As for Vogel's future prospects, he has a key role in the new Jack Black film "Ye Olde Times," set to shoot this spring, and although he's still looking for that breakout role, he's keeping a close eye on a possible "Cloverfield" sequel. "They definitely left it obscure enough that you don't quite know," Vogel says of his character's fate. "There are really only two people you can tell really bit the farm and the rest of us are just kind of there." And knowing Abrams' crew, it would probably be a lot better than "Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2." |

never seen it Britney Spears has a new accessory to go with her pink wig: a British accent. In the last several weeks, Spears, 26, has been videotaped numerous times trading her Louisiana twang for U.K. inflections. "She had the English accent thing going the whole time" while shopping at Kitson last Thursday, according to a source. "It didn't stop." Even when angry, the accent appears. On an L.A. shopping trip to Macy's on Jan. 13, she screamed at the paparazzi, "Get out of my G------ face!" – in a British accent. stupid hoe |

Katie Holmes sucks it big time Moviegoers didn't flock to see Katie Holmes' return to the big screen this weekend. Her comedy Mad Money, co-starring Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton, came in at No. 7 with $7.7 million, according to studio estimates released Sunday. Critics had slammed Holmes for her role. The New York Times called her “the movie’s weakest link.” Holmes, who seems to have changed a lot since her early days based on her talk show appearances this week, also recently got blasted for some questionable style moves in NYC. Her husband Tom Cruise faced his own criticism for a series of newly surfaced videos in which he says he helped save America after 9/11 and declares that psychiatry doesn't work.

^^^ Crappy shit coming to an overpriced store near you ThePeople.co.uk is reporting that Becks is to work on the backing vocals with Snoop Dog for his next single. As many of you already know, David and Snoop have been friends for a while now and seem to be doing more and more business stuff together with talks of developing a line of slippers and now this. Snoop said: "Me and my boy David come from separate worlds but it's not just business talk - we also chat about our families." Another article from last week on the metro.co.uk site talks about this and other plans that the duo have. In this article, Snoop is quoted: "Me and Becks became friends after I met him at the Live 8 concert. We furthered our friendship when he became part of the LA Galaxy." And: "Through meeting from that, we continue to talk about doing a lot of things. We got a lot of great ideas. Hopefully one of them will come to light. Like movies, footwear, things of that nature that are different and bringing us both together. We try and combine his world and my world and something that is appealing to everybody"
