I think it takes more drive to go straight out into the world and find your own way! So kudos to you for doing it! :) I know I couldn't have done it before uni and to be honest, I still don't feel that by the summer I'll be ready to do it heheh. I wish I could stay in education forever, but the money's gotta run out at some point and I suppose I'll have to grow up. Oh dear. Luckily my course up til this point has been a bit of a doss...5 hours contact time a week :| Shocking that I have to pay the same tuition fees as the biology students who get 20+ hours of tuition a week!

Two minutes before midnight I disappear and sneak outside and have a little chat with "god". Been doing it for the past few years, as the bullets fly into the air, the gunshots and fireworks competing for noise levels, I have a stern chat, and sometime I'm not very nice!

Transhumanism? Can you give a synopsis? I have heard of the term, but I don't know if its in the same context in which I have heard it. Involving genetic manipulation and splicing and the merging of humans and animals! It's evil! :priest

Jesse, Transhumanism is all about taking humans beyond their biological potential, so yeah, bioengineering and stuff like that. They use the phrase "better than well" a lot. So making people more intelligent, stronger, and emotionally enhanced are big issues. And eugenics comes in there somewhere as well. It's really interesting cos all the transhumanists seem to be so sure of the fact they've balanced the pros and cons but they just sound like elitist madmen, but then there's a huge amount of issues over where to draw the line of acceptability between treatment and enhancement. You'd probably find it all quite interesting Jesse!

LOL

I still dunno for sure what I'm gonna do. No one's gonna give me a job with a degree in English & Philosophy. I'm gonna be overqualified and unemployable (hence, not going for the philosophy masters degree LOL)

I pray everynight to my traditional upbringing Catholic night time prayers.
They consist of "now I lay me.."
"our father"
"hail Mary"
and "Angel of God"

yeah, I ve been doing this for over 20 yrs. Hard to stop.
My guy is the same way......
*cue twilight zone music*

yet we live in total sin. :shock

KT I find the concept of transhumanism as interesting as I find it diabolical. I think it leads in the opposite direction of where humans need to head...and that is of spiritual enhancement!

I do my own type of "prayer" before I go to bed too. Not of the traditional Catholic sort, heaven burn my soul no! But I gave praise and thanks, and if I need to point out a person who needs extra help or attention I will.

I hear ya Jesse.
I just do it out of .....memorization or habit.

I actually dont really think about it. Its a ritual of sorts.

I do pray after that about the world and ones dear to me.

Its like the previews to a movie. then you have the real deal.
lol

NO! Catholics use those specific prayers that Jules pointed out.

There is this song by Mercyful Fate which has a satanic version of The Lord's Prayer...Our Father who art in hell and all that....lead us into temptation, and deliver us from false piety! For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory! Forever! Shemhem foresh! :rocks

I played that once for a cousin's boyfriend who was the son of a deacon and he freaked out! :ha :clap

yeah but catholics also do specific prayers about praying for the well being of specific people or specific good fortune, just like when saying grace!
