Dr. Paul Receives More Military Donations Than All Other Republicans Combined [February 03, 2008 @ 5:47pm]

Dr. Paul Receives More Military Donations Than All Other Republicans Combined
Reports have been floating around for a couple of days about how well Ron Paul did in the fourth quarter of 2007 with donations from veterans and current servicemen and women. Patrick Semmens, our press officer extraordinaire, crunched the numbers to get most accurate figures, and sure enough, Dr. Paul not only beats all other Republicans in military donations, he beats all of them combined. His military support also far outpaces military donations to Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Here are the numbers:

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – According to newly released FEC reports, Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has received more military donations than the other three remaining Republican candidates combined.

“The latest numbers make it clear: the troops support Ron Paul,” said Ron Paul campaign chairman Kent Snyder. “Dr. Paul has worked his entire career working for veterans, and has many awards and endorsements due to his dedication to their cause.”

A search of the FEC database by employer reveals that Dr. Paul has received 1160 donations from military donors, nearly triple that of John McCain, and more than McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee combined.

Dr. Paul’s total military donations of $249 thousand are almost as much as the $260 thousand of combined donations received by the other five remaining candidates.

Congressman Paul is no stranger to military support. Former president Ronald Reagan once said, “Ron Paul is one of the outstanding leaders fighting for a stronger national defense. As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country!”

According to the FEC reports, these are the total number and amount of military donations for each of the presidential candidates*:

Ron Paul: 1160 $249k
John McCain: 438 $83k
Mike Huckabee: 126 $37k
Mitt Romney: 126 $24k
Barack Obama: 443 $76k
Hillary Clinton: 154 $41k

he has come a long way, his vote counts are much higher than what was thought, than what the neo cons and fox news would like, though he hasnt won a state yet. I am hoping he wins at least a couple of states tomm. *crosses fingers*

and if he doesn't, then I think he should continue to run for president as an independent. Even if he doesnt win, the longer he stays in it, the more his important message gets out. Freedom, liberty, and the constitution! :yahoo

Women hate Ted

The National Organization for Women’s New York chapter issued a scathing reaction to Sen. Ted Kennedy’s endorsement of Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Actually, the word “scathing” feels inadequate here.

Read for yourself:

“Women have just experienced the ultimate betrayal. Senator Kennedy’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton’s opponent in the Democratic presidential primary campaign has really hit women hard. Women have forgiven Kennedy, stuck up for him, stood by him, hushed the fact that he was late in his support of Title IX, the ERA, the Family Leave and Medical Act to name a few. Women have buried their anger that his support for the compromises in No Child Left Behind and the Medicare bogus drug benefit brought us the passage of these flawed bills. We have thanked him for his ardent support of many civil rights bills, BUT women are always waiting in the wings.

“And now the greatest betrayal! We are repaid with his abandonment! He’s picked the new guy over us. He’s joined the list of progressive white men who can’t or won’t handle the prospect of a woman president who is Hillary Clinton (they will of course say they support a woman president, just not “this” one). ‘They’ are Howard Dean and Jim Dean (Yup! That’s Howard’s brother) who run DFA (that’s the group and list from the Dean campaign that we women helped start and grow). They are Alternet, Progressive Democrats of America, democrats.com, Kucinich lovers and all the other groups that take women’s money, say they’ll do feminist and women’s rights issues one of these days, and conveniently forget to mention women and children when they talk about poverty or human needs or America’s future or whatever.

“This latest move by Kennedy, is so telling about the status of and respect for women’s rights, women’s voices, women’s equality, women’s authority and our ability – indeed, our obligation - to promote and earn and deserve and elect, unabashedly, a President that is the first woman after centuries of men who ‘know what’s best for us.’”

I must admit i was a bit shocked that he backed Obama. For some reason I thought it would be Clinton.

Those lesbians need to hush up!

I hope I can just use my ID tomorrow cause I don't know where my voting card is! Actually if I recall the last time they didn't even ask for that, just my ID, they had my name on a long list of registered residents. Gonna vote at 6:30 am tomorrow before work!

you voting for obama? are you registered democrat or independent?

those women need to STFU. First of all, they need not speak for all women because not all women are for Hillary. Many women are for Obama, Ron Paul, and others. Just cause she has a pussy and I have a pussy, does not automatically mean that I want her to be the president. And why is it so shocking that he is supporting Obama? Who says he has to support Clinton? The man can support whomever he feels is the best candidate, obviously he does not feel it is Hillary, so they need to STFU!

Just like not every black person in this country is for Obama, cause they arent, not every woman is for Hillary.

these feminists are extremely ignorant. Obviously they do not think that Hillary is the best person for the job or they would be supporting her. These politicians can be for women's rights and not support the female candidate, but that doesnt mean that they wouldnt support ANY female candidate, they just arent supporting THIS one. I want to send these women a letter.

she aint that powerful because she doesnt practice what she preaches. Her votes in the senate very often go for Bush's proposals, she votes the opposite of what she says she stands for. Voted for the Iraq war, voted for the Patriot Act, voted for more military spending. But then she says "I am against the war in Iraq" :purleeze

you can but when it is done a lot, then I dont have belief in the person. People said the same thing about Kerry, but at least when Kerry gave speeches he sounded sincere, to me Hillary just doesnt feel sincere. Others may think she does but to me she doesnt :shrug
