Recently, a radio talk show hosted referred to a champion women's college basketball team as "nappy headed ho's". Why I don't know. But this has sparked a raging furor from mainly the black community, with black leaders calling for protests and boycotts. The radio talk show host, Don Imus, is white. Most but not all of the team are black. They had the coach and players speaking about it, condemning the "racist" remarks, how hurt and insulted they were, blah blah blah. And yet, black rap/hop hip artists, and some white and hispanic ones too, have used such terms, and even worse ones, to describe women for years. I bet those same women on that team own CD's by such artists, have helped make them rich by being called bitches and ho's. This is a pathetic and hypocritcal double standard and I wish SOMEBODY in the fucking media would have the balls to say it! Read more about it HERE So what do you all think of this? Why is it okay for blacks to use such derogatory terms but not whites? Why is it okay for blacks to talk shit about white people, but when white people do it, even as a joke, blacks get all up in arms about it? Enough with the fucking double standard already! |

chalk it up to ignorance. I say ENOUGH ALREADY with the whole "well we were slaves" fuck no you werent! maybe your VERY distant relatives were, but not YOU! Hispanics were treated badly along with native americans and others and you dont hear them cry and moan about it nearly as much. Like I said...chalk it up to ignorance |

There are some blacks who feel that the black community has not gotten enough justice over the whole fact that "we were slaves" part. The main reason why I don'tlisten to rap is because of the fact that all it is talking about is "bithces and hos". Few rappers do it now for I have not heard many songs that say it. But Ricky use to call girl bitches all the time, rarely using the word "girl". I meant to ask him why he said that but our time came to an arubt halt. I think blacks/hispanics and all the rest can talk about it because they, unlike the common white man, have had anscestors done wrongly by the "white man". Look at the early nineties when the only thing rappers talked about was the "white man". There are many "white man" in the world and no one knows who the hell they were talking about, i.e. the president, the white cops, the judge. I don't think it's okay for any race to used deflamatory remarks in talking about another race and it always breaks my heart to see a black person do it for there was a time when we were called that. My mom/sister are a little racist and from them I have begun to talk like them although I have tried to check myself. |

Blacks in America act like they were the only race in history to be enslaved. Just as the Jews act like they were the only ones to be persecuted and systematically murdered

I concur, Jules. And I agree with Jesse. The Jews were not the only race to face genocide, just the most well known. |

In some parts yes. I have watched documentary and the way they were treated brought tears to my eyes. Altough some masters were good to thier slaves while the Nazis were mean to all the jews there are some similarities. |

The Holocaust and Slavery were, by varying degrees, examples of man's inhumanity to man, so yes, they can be compared. And the Jews were not the only victims of the holocaust. Any person not deemed "perfect" by the Nazi's...the old and crippled, the retarded or deformed, homosexuals, gypsies. |

I can agree partially. You cant really compare extinction with slavery but.. Im sure some of you can justify it. Also Native Americans were treated shitty and killed as well |

What about the hardship the Irish had to go through when they imagrated over to the US? You can't pin that slavery shit on me I'm of Irish decent so I know none of my ancestors had slaves at least not in this country and they certianly weren't black slaves. And for that comment that dude made fuck that NO one should be calling a woman that no matter what color they are. Fucking pricks. |

If you read the entire transcript of the exchange, you might feel a little differently. I find it offensive and I'm not generally a politically correct type. Anyway they have canned his ass now and I even more think they should can the executive producer of the program (McGuirk). "Jiggaboos"? ? C"MON!!! A person identified as "Imus in the Morning" executive producer Bernard McGuirk exclaimed off-camera "those 'are some hard core hos." In response, rather than chastising McGuirk for the remark, Imus agreed, saying, "That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know." Here's the full transcript of the offensive exchange, courtesy of Media Matters: DON IMUS: So, I watched the basketball game last night between -- a little bit of Rutgers and Tennessee, the women's final. SID ROSENBERG: Yeah, Tennessee won last night -- seventh championship for [Tennessee coach] Pat Summitt, I-Man. They beat Rutgers by 13 points. IMUS: That's some rough girls from Rutgers. Man, they got tattoos and -- BERNARD McGUIRK: Some hard-core hos. IMUS: That's some nappy-headed hos there. I'm gonna tell you that now, man, that's some -- woo. And the girls from Tennessee, they all look cute, you know, so, like -- kinda like -- I don't know. McGUIRK: A Spike Lee thing. IMUS: Yeah. McGUIRK: The Jigaboos vs. the Wannabes -- that movie that he had. IMUS: Yeah, it was a tough -- CHARLES McCORD: Do The Right Thing. McGUIRK: Yeah, yeah, yeah. IMUS: I don't know if I'd have wanted to beat Rutgers or not, but they did, right? ROSENBERG: It was a tough watch. The more I look at Rutgers, they look exactly like the Toronto Raptors. |

I agree that those radio hosts should not have said that, it was rude and ignorant and no reason for it at all. I also think that black people should not call themselves bitches and hoes and niggers and other derogatory names. They call themselves these things but then get pissed if another race calls them it. That is bullshit! People should learn to respect people of other races and respect people of their own race and not be calling each other these disrespectful crude names period. It should never happen! People need to learn to stop hatin on others and hatin on themselves and just live their lives in harmony with others and then this type of issue would never come up! |
