This makes me think of Divine in Lust In The Dust. When asked if she thought she had had too much to drink she said."No! I know when I've had too much to drink, when I've had too much I fall down." :ha

I guess I should finally state my opinion, though I really dont want to cause it will probably be long which is why I have put it off so I will try to make this as short as possible.

I think in my opinion that there are a few different ways that drinking can be a problem. The most obvious and most serious problem of course if you are a full fledged alcholic. If you have gotten to the point where you drink all day, everyday, to the point that your body simply cannot function unless you drink, obviously that is a problem.

The second way that excessive drinking is a problem is if you use drinking as a coping mechanism for the problems in your life. For instance, I have a client who has been sexually and physically abused by a lot of men in her life. First was her fathre who sexually abused her as a child, then both her husbands phyically abused her. Now her son has started to phyiscially abuse her. Her pattern has always been to start drinking heavily (get drunk about 3-4 times a week) when she is being abused. She was sober this last time for 2 and a half years but when he son punched her in the eye and kicked her repeatedly a few months ago, she started drinkig again and is continuing to drink. She doesnt really think of herself as a real alcholic because she has long periods of sobriety and basically only starts drinking again when she is being abused, but she is an alcoholic.

Another way that I think that drinking is a problem is binge drinking. When you go out with your friends either at a party or out at the bar or club and you have to get completely trashed off your ass, to the point of nearly or actually poisioning yourself, to have a good time. I know or have known a lot of people who are like this. They feel that the only way to have a good time is to get completely hammered, no matter what it is that you are doing whether it be going out to the bar, going to a concert, going to a sporting event like a football game, whatever it is. If you have to always and every time get completely trashed off your ass or be high as a kite in order to enjoy things, have a good time or hang out with friends then yes, I think that that person does have a problem.

But, if you like to go out a few night a week and have a few drinks. Sometimes you get drunk, sometimes you just get tipsy and sometimes you stay sober then no, I dont consider that to be a problem.
