In order for god to exist he would have to exist outside of time, or we would have to redefine time. The best argument I've heard for this is that we (the human race throughout eternity) have only finite sight. Its like we are looking at a mountain range through a cardboard tube. If we start at one end and move to another, it looks like we are moving along the mountians, but in reality the mountain range was there, in its entirty the whole time. It was only our lack of knowledge and sight that made us see it part by part. Basically once you get into time and such you start getting into crap like string theory and you find yourself going "my god am I gonna have to smoke a lot of pot to digest this shit" haha |

haha I had to watch that for a class once, I liked the part where they told water molecules either the word "beautiful" or "ugly" and they actually looked different accordingly. Of course, I say that difference is created in the eye of the people who see the molecules and the word above them as well as the color choice they made to put behind the molecule. . . lol Basically string theory says that the smallest molecule is infact a vibrating string of energy, and reality is created based on what frequency these strings are vibrating on. However, it also calls for 10 dimensions (or more or less depending on which theory you follow, but the original one I believe it was 10). These extra dimensions are very tiny, they would be flat. The way I believe it was described in that video is, because they are so small they look flat, as a lightpole would look to us from a distance, but like an ant crawling on the post, if we were small enough we would see they had depth. The problem is that there are like a gazillion string theories, depending on whether or not the strings are connected in the end to produce a circle or what not. Each on calls for a different number of dimensions and so on. . . |

Why would God communicate with us in such a crude way as the bible? The bible was written by man. Man with an agenda. Most probably with good intentions, to make people live by certain ideals and rules. |

I agree with Jane. Besides, even if God came down and wrote the bible HIMSELF,throughout the hundreds of thousands of years,it wouldne even be accurate. you can intrepret the bible in many different ways. Its just that you read what you want to read into it. |

so the bible had to be written by god because people who wrote it 5,000 years ago say so? How does that make it fact? The bible is the greatest work of fiction ever written I believe. |

I don't believe the Bible is what it claims to be. Most of what I've gotten out of it are vial stories that fuel hate but other than that I just believe it's all stories. I'll believe a Greek myth before anything in that. |

A Greek myth? What about the people who say that they have talked to God. I mean, there have been times, as I have said, that I felt extremely close to him. |

people dont lie? They dont make up stories? They dont hear voices?I personally know people that hear voices, it is called schiztophrenia. A former client from my old job suffered from bipolar disorder, as well as being a drug addict and HIV+. Anyway, while he was on my caseload, one day he dissappeared and I tried finding him but I couldnt. A year later he shows up at the agency. He was in jail and had just gotten out for assisting a robbery. Anyway, he told me stories about when he was in jail he was having hallucinations that he was jesus christ. For several days he truely thought that he was. THey had to put him in solitary confinement, he was trying to perform miracles on people. His mental illness and mental state from the stressors of being in prision caused him to have hallucinations that he was jesus, to the point that he really truely believed that he was. |

I havent really encountered that right in front of me as of yet. I actually only have one schitzophrenic client and he doesnt see things, he just hears voices occasionally. When he does he like calls me a million times a day though, as if I can make them go away or something. |
