The world itself has been turned over countless of times. Declarations made, constitutions rewritten, but it is Europe, with its since of pride, that has kept tradition and history alive. While most of the world did away with their monarchies it is with an exception of few that they still remain. Now, on the eve of a new era, many people our asking themselves, to you keep a family that has scanfal after scandal, whose members feel they are higher than their subjects who pay to keep them on their princely thrones, and whose charities are just little light good in a monarchy full of bad?

I could care less either way to tell you the truth. The royal family in Britian may be loaded beyond belief, but they are one hideously ugly family! They were cursed with the ugly stick! No offense to the brits on this board.

The British Royal family is symbolic to the nation.

Symbolic to what? To the imperilism they spread around the world? To their devilish ways infecting once great cultures of the past? :alondria Let them and the nothingness they now stand for be done and away with.

The Queen is a shape shifting blood drinking child eating reptilian alien! Their entire bloodline is that of the wicked! Purge yourself of their evil Britain!

Look at Diana, a national figure who helped Britian out a lot and kept the royal family alive. I think the monarchy will survive if her son takes the throne. William knows how to change the monarchy.

She was able to step out of her percieved role of smiling and waving for the camera and actually try to do something. She stepped out of the role the Royals wanted for her. And when she broke away from Charles, and hooked up with an Arab man, oh hell no could the royals let that tarnish their image. They killed her.

I don't disagree with that, Jesse. There were too many conicendenes (sp?) about that accident. The driver was drunk, there was no autopsy, and all that jazz.

Anyway, back to the subject. William, along with Harry, has stepped out of royal protocol and done what his mother had done, touch people like no other royal could. I think if he ascends to the throne Britian will rally behind him. I think it is Harry that they need to watch out for.

My thoughts on the royals...based on this thread.....

Love them or hate we have them and you don't and I'm glad we have them for that reason alone! It makes the UK different. I'm glad that our government's have tolerated having a royal family, I think the Queen has some sort of power but she abdicates it to the Prime Minister in some sort of ceromony each year. Don't quote me on that, I should really make sure before I make statements like that but I think it's true.

Personally I don't care for any of them, to me they are not real people. they have no idea what it is to live the lives of their subjects. They can do their charity work, visit poor countries all they want but they'll never know what it is to be ordinary. True Diana did try and break away from the mold and tried to bring up her boys to be well balanced and not spoilt. I think she did a great job in this, when Fergie was married to Prince Andrew she was the same, they were a breath of fresh air at that time.

The younger royals are more in touch than their parents, they've had better lives than their parents had ( I know Charles espeically had a horrible childhood being brought up by nannies while his mum swaned around being queen!) I don't get excited for royal gossip or royal new stories. I don't care who William and Harry are dating, I wish the media would give them space sometimes, they've had to put up with a lot of media intrusion. It must be because some people want to read this stuff but I'm not one of them. You wouldn't believe the amount of media coverage Princess Diana was getting in the weeks before her death, pictures of her and Dodi all over the world having fun. I was so sick of seeing them! And then she died :( was murdered....whatever.....I don't discount that conspiricy theory like I did the 9/11 one.

I was waiting when you was going to come and put your two cents in, dear, and set us all straight. The United Kingdom is rich inhistory, that's the reason I love it so much. Also, the fact that William and Harry are always on the news/media is because people(*cough * me) likes to read about them. The fact is is that they are Royal. At times their lives are fairy tales, something the rest of us wish to have. At times the media needs to back up and give the family some room to breathe, as in Diana.

Charles childhood was horrible, Jane, and Queen Elizabeth should feel awful about it. I can't stand Philip, Margreat needs to realize she isn't the center of attetnion, and some of these children need to understand: people are never your friends.

What makes these people "royal" anyway? Fuck em I say, and their false and arrogant sense of importance.

Apparently Britian, they still have not voted them out. Imagine having a role family like that in America. I mean, if George Washington hadn't said we must goverened ourselves we would have a Washington dynasty. I just got why Washington D.C. is called Washington D.C.

The people here have never been asked if we want them or not, they are just there! You can't vote them out like you do politicians. I don't think such a thing would ever happen.
