it is a great movie about the life story of famous mexican artist Frida kahlo and her also famous mexican artist husband Diego Rivera. She was in a very bad trolley accident in which the hand rail came off the trolley and pierced through her back and out her vagina when she was 18. She was already not a virgin and she said that line to her then bf Alex that she had told the doctors that the handrail took her virginity. She broke half the bones in her body and had back and leg problems the rest of her life from that accident. It is one of my fave movies and she is one of my favorite artists. her exhibit is coming to the art museum in february through may, I am going to make sure I get tickets!

I love Frida Kahlos' work. If that exhibit comes to Toronto I am so there! I also keep meaning to rent that movie.

I've also heard that she had "Munchausen Syndrome" where you get some kind of weird pleasure out of injuring yourself (I guess from the attention you get) so that you do it on purpose at times. Don't know whether that is true or not :shrug

I dont know, I mean she had very extensive injuries from the trolley accident. She broke her back in numerous places, shattered her pelvic bone, broke one of her legs in 3 places, broke her foot. She was told she would never walk again and she did. Later in life when she was taken prisoner when they were trying to find her husband because of his connections to the communist party, she developed gang green in her bad foot and it had to be amputated. If she had munchausens she probably wouldnt have tried and worked so hard to walk again

I have been wanting to get one of her prints and get it framed, but all of her pieces that I really love are very hard to find. I am hoping at the exhibit they will have more of a variety of her prints and I can get the one that I really want. I want to buy her self portrait where she has her chest open so you see her spinal column inside all broken and she had nails all over her body and she is crying, symbolizing her life long pain from her back. I love that one but I can never find that one in print.

Salma Hayek played her in the movie. I never watched it and wager that I never will.

Good work Dan!
