I can't see what you're imagining
-The Forgotten Forest-

Celest was quiet as he watched the ceremony. It was clearly important to this strange lute player, so he remained quiet until he was sure it was done, picking up the cup of sake and taking a sip as well.

“I... came in search of magic,” Celest answered, “A curse breaker. I heard tales of strange things in this land, so I thought it might be a place to look.”

He looked towards Musashi, frowning slightly as he thought over his story.

“Sounds like magic might be involved...” Celest said. In truth, Celest suspected some enchantress, having taken what she could from the village, simply moved on. But if there was a chance someone innocent was at risk...

“Perhaps I could be of help? My own search is not so time sensitive,” Celest suggested.

Aiden took a deep breath, removing the hood from her head and getting her arms out and free, stepping towards Didymus.

Aiden took a deep breath, fire springing around her hands now. Not magic, but something... else. The fire abilities her father had. She said a small prayer, then sent her fire forward, to burn through the plants!

Gallic smiled, nodding to his wife and giving her a quick kiss before he headed back to the door and opened it up, nodding towards Richard II.

“Let's have this feast then, shall we?” Gallic asked.

“She's a singer!” Kyran said, clapping her hands on Elysia's shoulders and smiling brightly, Elysia just looked annoyed still. “Best there is too!”

“I'm not the best...” Elysia said with a frown. “It's just something I do...”

“Come on, the owner of that club practically begged for you come sing!” Kyran grinned. “But what about you two? Where are you from?”

[Hoshido]

[The Forgotten Forest]

Musashi listened with interest as Celest explained why he was here. “A curse breaker? Hmm... I don't know of anything like that myself, although if you go to Castle Shirasagi, the capital of Hoshido, there's some very talented mages living in the city, someone there might know...”

Musashi certainly had no intention of returning to the Castle City that served as the capital of Hoshido. His brothers were probably furious at him already, probably comparing him to his sister who had left so long ago...

When Celest offered to help, Musashi gave a sigh. This guy was offering to help, and Musashi could use the aid... but then he'd feel bad if he didn't return the favor, and that might mean returning home.

“... I would love some help, honestly. If this girl is in trouble, I have to find out. The townspeople will be devastated if they never know what happened and assume the worst.”

[Nohr]

[Alexandria Castle]

The flames sprouted up, immediately engulfing the vines and burning them away! Garnet gasped at the sight and took a step back as the vines spasms and died, leaving the doorway mostly open now, only partially blocked by the burnt husks.

Leo didn't seem to notice Aiden's display, however, his eyes were locked on Cecil. The moment he revealed himself, Leo began to shake.

“Traitor... is it not enough that you would betray my brother, now you come – for what, to kidnap my sister? Is this the 'honorable' path of a Paladin?” Leo spat, his eyes twisting with rage. “My only regret is that Xander won't be here to cut out your treacherous heart himself!”

Xander, the eldest son, was the leader of the Dark Knights. Cecil had been his favorite champion, most prized of all those Xander saw fit to bestow the title onto. When Cecil had abandoned Nohr to walk the path of a Paladin, Xander took it as a personal betrayal.

Leo raised his hand and from out of the ground, several more large vines shot up – these razor sharp at the tip, and flying towards Cecil!

[Galdwin]

[Castle]

Rin nodded, following at Gallic's side. She gave a polite nod to the Prince, and resumed her role of the quiet, supportive spouse...

[Streets]

“A singer! Fantastic! Good music can lighten up even the darkest of moods.” Taichi smiled, and then he gave a slight bow. “My apologies ladies, my name is Taichi, and this is my sister Nanami. We're travelers from Aurelia!”

Nanami rolled her eyes. Her brother was always so quick to insert himself into whatever random mess he could. He genuinely liked meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures... all of which Nanami avoided. She was not much of a people person, but Taichi always had a way of convincing her to go along with him.

Rue had watched the fight intently, the girl's eyes staying locked onto Liam as he fought Graham with everything he had. She had known the boy since they were babies, but it was just now she realized just how strong he truly was. All those years training with his father really had paid off. Edda was known to be not only tough, but smart- something his son obviously inherited.

The girl blinked when she realized the fight was over, Caitlin rushing past her and to their friend to compliment him (in her own Caitlin kind of way). She blushed a bit, standing up and walking over- trying to appear casual. "Great fight" she said, trying not nervously stutter or think about Liam too much all of a sudden. "Are you okay? I can heal you if you need it-" she then paused, quickly turning to Graham "Y-You too!"

[Train Station]

“Kyran would be jealous,” Blake commented. “She wanted to study one of these trains...”

"It's beeeeeeautiful." Joyce exclaimed as they stepped aboard. She wasn't much for mechanics, but even to a normal person riding a train like this was impressive. Many people never got to even try it. The young woman turned to her brother. "She's going to absolutely kill us if she finds out"

She then looked to Sage and smiled at her best friend. "Thank you for the tickets, you really didn't have to"

If he hadn't Joyce only had enough money for the last class...She really needed to get a proper job.

[Castle]

"WE HAVE TO GO!" Didymus called, continuing to chop away at the now-burnt branches and kicking until the door had been cleared out and their path was unobstructed.

"TAKE THE PRINCESS TO SAFETY!" Cecil called, his eyes still locked on Leo.

Didymus paused, not wanting to leave Cecil behind, but knowing that every moment they wasted, more guards would appear and their odds of success decreased.

"YOU BETTER BE BEHIND US!" he called, as Steiner and Beatrix burst through the door Leo had come through. Seeing his, he gestured at Aiden and Garnet. "Come on! We have to move!"

Cecil undid his overcloak, letting it fall to the floor, revealing a suit of more white-colored plate that contrasted greatly with the dark armor he once wore.

"Sir Cecil!" Steiner called, surprised and somewhat confused about all of this. He had always respected Cecil, and certainly felt worried when Cecil had left, not sure what could have driven such a man to flee his duties, and now seeing him back, and so changed...

Beatrix's own expression betrayed only sternness.

"They are escaping!" she said, raising her own blade towards them and beginning to focus...and for his part Didymus knelt, planting his sword on the ground, praying as it began to glow, a bright light beginning to shield them from the standoff at the end of the room.

"GO, LADIES!" he called.

From across the room, Beatrix could be seen muttering an incantation, for her own part...

Cecil paused.

"Steiner...Beatrix...prince...I am...sorry..." he took a moment to collect himself.

"But yes, this is the honorable path of a Paladin. One that does not stand idly by as our people are made the prey of demons! One that does not slaughter towns whose civilians are guilty of no greater crime than irritating the sensibilities of their "rulers"!"

Steiner gasped, shocked that Cecil was making these claims, whereas Beatrix seemed more intent on prepping her spell, gazing at her sword and keeping an eye on the shield of light at the opposite end of the room.

Cecil stood, sword and shield ready, as he faced Leo.

"And yes, it IS the honorable path of a Paladin, to aid those who cry for deliverance from evil, like your sister did of her own accord!"

He stood, facing Leo.

"I am no kidnapper, prince...but would you be a jailer of your own sister?"

Richard II nodded to Gallic and Rin as they appeared in the hallway, and bid them follow him to the dining hall.

There, a meal was being served, and beside Richard sat his wife on one side, his son taking a seat on the other, and Elder Percival standing nearby again.

"I must protest, sir, I am but a Pala-"

"NONSENSE, old friend!" Richard said. "We go through this routine every time. You insist that your station and position should exclude you from my table, I insist that your friendship and mentorship have been instrumental in making me who I am and that it's my table and anyone I want can sit at it. Eventually you give in because I wear you down with it."

"Not always, sir." Percival replied.

"Alright, fine, I let you escape here and there..." Richard chuckled. "...but then I drop the "I want my son to gain from your presence as well"."

Percival couldn't help but smirk a tiny bit.

"If he is truly that in need of it, sir, than perhaps you are neglecting his own growth in our Lord a bit too much?"

"Oh, NOW you've done it." Richard said, as his son, despite looking a tad nervous at now being used in the debate, chuckled a bit, as did Elanor.

"Now you HAVE to sit here. Come-look, our guests are arriving!" he said. "Not sure where else you plan to eat, and I want you here for this!"

Percival looked a tad hesitant, but finally sighed.

"Very well. You win, for this evening."

"HA-HA! Yes, that's the spirit!" Richard laughed. "Welcome, welcome to our table!" he called out as Gallic and Rin approached. "A shame your children shan't join us, but I suppose it is what it is..."

His son paused, as if he was going to say something, before his father took note.

"Come now, my son. I understand this may be awkward and you may wish to look about too, but you HAVE walked among our people many times-and sitting in awkward, boring dinners is a PART of our job, unfortunately..."

“I was thinking about heading there, it's nice to hear I was heading in the right direction,” Celest said towards Musashi. “I'm not very familiar with the area, myself...”

He nodded then, “Okay, I'd be happy to help you out.”

Town

Moniker nodded towards Shimera, ordering another bowl. A few minutes later they were presented with two steaming bowls of ramen, Shimera's including some local seafood additions.

Moniker broke her chopsticks open and starting chowing down hungrily.

Aiden hesitated for a moment, wanting to help, but knowing she wasn't that suited for combat. She took Garnet by the arm, ushering her through the door.

“Come on, we better hurry!” Aiden said.

Clearing

Liam smiled towards Rue, shaking his head. “I am fine, just a little winded. Graham here has quite an arm.”

He then paused, looking puzzled. “Why are you here though Rue? I was gonna come visit you at your home on my way by, say hello to your parents as well.”

Train

“That, or pick our brains for every detail,” Blake said with a slight smile as they got their seats, Sage looking a little sheepish.

“It's no problem... you two are both my friends,” Sage said, “I don't like my dad, but I might as well use his money for something good, right?”

-Galdwin-

Streets

Elysia frowned at Taichi, not entirely sure what to think about him. He was being very forward, which Elysia didn't tend to like, but he wasn't being the kind of forward guys tended to be towards her and her sister, which was, begrudgingly, a bonus in her views.

Nanami seemed like someone she might be able to get along with, in that neither of them would really do anything that would bring the other to their attention.

“Ohhhh, Aurelia?” Kyran asked. “I heard that place can get pretty crazy, with everything going on... Be fun to visit though!”

Kyran's crazy shadow powers meant she had never really been all that afraid of anything, plus her sister Elysia being able to shoot lightning.

“And yah, Elysia here can sing like the best of them! She's got a show here later at a club in town, you two should definitely come and see!” Kyran added.

Castle

Gallic made a mental note watching Richard and Percival. It seemed Percival was Richard's number 2, much like Claire back home was his.

“Next time I will make sure Nanami is here,” Gallic said, “She will need to learn the decorum of this when she assumes the throne. It took me some time before I got the hang of it myself, I didn't grow up in halls such as these.”

He had been a brutal gladiator in Aurelia, little more then a slave, until the old King, and Rin's father, had decided someone like him would make a good bodyguard... Almost ironic, that Gallic was the death of him.

-Aurelia: Many Years Ago-

Blood dripped down Gallic's arm, breathing heavily as the manticore took it's last breath, shuddering as it's own blood oozed from it. He staggered, holding his left arm and feeling numb, but the pain would come soon.

He looked around, seeing... bits. Nothing he could recognize. The manticore had torn through the other gladiators. He only survived thanks to his telekinetic ability, something he had been keeping under wraps in these fights. If they knew... they might put something overwhelming against him, but he was forced to reveal them this fight.

Perhaps had he revealed them sooner, he wouldn't have been the only one still standing.

In a private area in the coliseum, King Nomura chuckled, having watched the fight with manic glee.

“I want that slave brought to the private area, along with my best guards,” King Nomura ordered. “Right away.”

“Why are you here though Rue? I was gonna come visit you at your home on my way by, say hello to your parents as well.”

Rue's smile suddenly dropped her eyes growing wide. "Ah! I was supposed to be at the hospital!" she exclaimed. "Dad sent me to heal someone, I got s-so distracted!"

The girl quickly grabbed her bag, pulling out a small pocket watch and groaning. "Nononononoooooooooo"

[Train]

Joyce smiled at Sage, knowing his relationship with his dad was....Complicated. Even more complicated than her relationship with her parents. Sage's dad wasn't a good man to say the least.

"Well we both appreciate it very much" she said sweetly, leaning against the window and looking out. She didn't know how long a trip like this would take but it was MUCH better than by coach...Or heaven forbid, walking.

She then looked to Blake. "Do you remember what Kanna's like? I mean you were pretty young last time you saw her"

Graham smiled to Rue, nodding his head. “I'm just fine, but I appreciate the offer.”

He paused, rubbing his chin. “So you can heal as well! That's a very useful skill to have. I hope your bedside manner is better than Cait's though-”

“HEY! Shut up ya doof!” Caitlin crossed her arms, fuming a bit as her face flushed. She had never been as skilled at healing as her sister, or their father – but she could manage it a little.

[Castle]

Garnet frowned, watching the confrontation. Steiner was her trusted guard, and someone whom she had always liked. Beatrix was the fearsome general that everyone admired... and Leo was her brother, whom she loved dearly. To make enemies of them was painful – and to know that Cecil and these others from Galdwin were risking their lives for her...

She felt Aiden tug on her arm, and she nodded, slowly turning and following Aiden.

Leo meanwhile, narrowed his eyes at Cecil.

“Shut your mouth you treacherous dog! You've not only forgotten who you are – you've forgotten your place! You speak to a Prince of Nohr! Whoever you once were... you are a traitor now, and an enemy of the Kingdom!”

His eyes narrowed. “General Beatrix! Sir Steiner! Strike down this treacherous scum and get my sister back from the kidnappers!”

Leo waved his hand and several large vines shot up from the ground, wrapping themselves around Cecil's ankles and aiming for his wrists – Leo was attempting to bind him where he stood and make him an easy target for Beatrix.

[Hoshido]

[The Forgotten Forest]

Musashi smiled to Celest, grateful for his help.

“Great! The woman wer'e looking for is supposedly on the short side, with long pink hair and wearing blue. It's said she was very excitable and friendly, but there's no telling how she might behave now.”

[Galdwin]

[Castle]

Rin, as was customary with her, was silent as she took her seat, merely watching. Her crimson eyes slowly surveyed the people at the table, and in the end they landed on Percival.

Now there was someone far more interesting than a King. Kings she understood. She was the daughter of one, and the wife of another. The burdens of rule, the arrogance of the monarchy, the duty to the nation – all of that was something she knew well.

… but the Paladin, now that was something different. She knew of their Order and their beliefs, but she seldom had met many of them.

[Streets]

“A show at a club? Ohhh now that could be fun!” Taichi smiled to Kyran, excited by the prospect. He was never one to enjoy the ritzy shows performed for a Prince – but the type happening in a town like this? Now that could be a lot of fun to see.

Nanami meanwhile could only sigh. Taichi did – as she feared – planned to spend all of this trip seeing the sights and chatting up the locals. Their parents would be furious... it was this frivolous attitude that had made their father insist that Nanami was to be the heir, despite being younger.

“Taichi...” Nanami frowned.

“Don't worry.” Taichi, as if he had anticipated the protest, simply shook his head. “We can't very well pass up an invitation like this!”

[Aurelia: Many Years Ago]

Among those watching the fight in the monarchy's private booth was the Aurelian Princess, Rin Nomura. She smirked to himself as she watched with interest. Normally these things were dreadfully boring... but that last challenger...

Now he had been something exciting.

[Castle]

Didymus looked back, to see that Garnet and Aiden had fled through the door...he kept kneeling there for a moment...as Beatrix, hearing Leo's command, charged! She swung her sword, crying out, as a ball of magical energy struck the shield of light, which buckled, but held against it!

For his part, Didymus then got up, turned about, and ran through the door, running up behind Garnet and Aiden as fast as he could.

"KEEP MOVING! THERE SHOULD BE A CARRIAGE JUST OUTSIDE!" he called as they ran up through the hall.

Beatrix charged at the shield, fading as it was, and slashed-the shield repulsed her, knocking her off her feet-but dissipated.

Cecil brought his sword around, slashing at one of the vines, and with a moment of silent supplication, a burst of light from his armor burned away another! Still, they came, and he did his best to maneuver and slice his was out of them, no easy task, but he still cried out.

"Whoever I once was, forever I am changed!" he declared. "I speak to a prince, yes...but I act with the guidance of a King higher than even my loyalty to Nohr, odd form though that loyalty takes!"

As Beatrix got to her feet, looking a tad dazed but quickly overcoming it, Steiner raised his blade.

"S-Sir Cecil...I...must ask you to stand down!"

"Ah, Captain...you always were an honorable man, I thought. Know this, old friend-we are no kidnappers, and if you truly love Garnet, you would let her go-both for her sake and because of her desire! Remain her guard-but do not become her jailer, to await a terrible sentence!"

Steiner was clearly pausing to hear this, but he looked to Leo...and swung his blade at Cecil!

Cecil parried it, but Beatrix was getting to her feet, though she did manage to shout "THEY'RE ESCAPING!" as her vision gradually cleared, and Cecil for his part was having difficulty fighting off branches and Steiner's blows all at once...though he did try to gradually give ground towards the door.

[Capitol]

"I have been out and about before..." Richard II said. "...but father and mother have done their best to teach me the necessity of such meetings as this."

His father laughed. "Indeed, as you will one day to your son...though hopefully this shan't be BORING!" he grinned. "But yes, it can be hard, getting into an outlook you've not known. Occassionally my son and I have travelled incognito, simply to gain a measure of what opinion on the street is-or what people go through in the day-to-day...it's not a perfect method, but an important one."

Percival simply sat, not speaking, and while he met Rin's gaze for a moment, he didn't hold it long, continuing to take measure of things.

Eleanor, for her part, DID speak.

"Do you find the presence of Elder Percival intriguing, Queen Rin?" she asked, seeming to have noticed the attentions of the other female.

“...I think so... the shadows remember, she can remind me,” Blake said after a moment, nodding slightly to himself.

He is still a bit weird.

“You need to get to the hospital quickly?” Liam asked Rue, “Then hurry, follow me!”

Liam moved forward, heading for the hospital, intending to get people out of the way so Rue could move faster.

“They'll be right behind us, I'm sure!” Aiden said to Garnet.

Celest nodded, picturing the woman in his mind. “I see. Shouldn't be too hard to find, if she wants to be found, with an appearance like that. Ummm...”

He paused, thinking. “It's not my best magic, but do you happen to have anything of her's? I may be able to scry a location.”

-Galdwin-

Streets

“Excellent!” Kyran said, “Oh, and how rude of me! My name is Kyran Hawkins! And my sister here is Elysia Hawkins! I'm a mechanic! Also a shadow user but these people in Galdwin don't like that.”

Elysia sighed slightly, but nodded her head. “Greetings.”

Castle

Gallic looked almost amused at the two Richards speaking of walking among the commoners incognito. He wondered, for a moment, if either of them had ever actually fought someone trying their hardest to kill them. Gallic had done that so many times he had lost track of the exact number... but still remembered each one.

“It was quite strange the first day I entered the Court of the King,” Gallic did say to King Richard, “After spending over two decades as a slave, it was like a whole different world.”

He glanced towards Rin, wondering if she wanted him to answer for her, to continue the part she was playing as the demure wife and queen, but decided it was best to pretend as if he was engrossed in his conversation with the other King and to 'let the women talk.'

Rin might find out something he wouldn't be able to, after all.

-Aurelia: Many Years Ago-

Gallic had been bandaged up slightly, his entire body still sore as he was brought into a large stone room adjacent to the coliseum. Already gathered was the King, and his daughter Rin, along with a number of guards.

“Greetings, champion of the coliseum!” King Nomura smiled as Gallic paused, the bowed stiffly, eying the guards warily. “It seems you have a strange power, not on your record...”

Gallic remained quiet.

“I had your overseer taken in for questioning,” the King added. “If he tells the truth quickly he may survive the process.”

“He did not know. No one did,” Gallic said, fire in his eyes as he looked up.

“Ah? Well, we shall know sooner or later. But someone like you is dangerous. Garrent, kill him.”

The armored man closest to the king stepped forward, pulling out a long and sharp sword. Garrent was the King's closest bodyguard, a talented and shrewd man who had made a name for himself. There was talks in the courts that the King was considering having Rin marry him, not having any sons to take the throne.

Garrent charged forward, Gallic avoiding the first swing. He focused, his telekinetic abilities flaring up, the second swing slashing downwards and stopped a centimeter from Gallic's hand.

The two struggled for a moment, Gallic's worn and bruised body, while strong from years of fighting, was still tired from his struggle.

Hesitating for only a moment, Gallic moved backwards a few steps, releasing his hold as the sword slashed downwards. He flew forward, raining a series of blows on Garrent in his armor, succeeding in knocking him back. Garrent's sword slashed again, this time making contact as Gallic caught it, no telekinesis.

Gallic gripped the bottom of the sword, where the blade was dullest, blood still dripping from his hand. Garrent looked confused, then gasped as Gallic reached up and pulled his helmet off.

Garrent tried to wrench the sword from Gallic's hands, finding himself unable to as Gallic used his free hand to claw into his face.

The sword clanged to the ground as Garrent dropped it, bringing his gauntletted hands up to try and force Gallic off, who drove himself forward out of the same mad desperation that kept him alive earlier. He gripped Garrent's throat, ignoring the armored blows raining down on his chest. What was one more cracked rib?

Finally, after one long gurgle, Garrent stopped moving, dead, Gallic slowly getting up as he wavered on his feet, knowing that the next order from the King would surely kill him.

To his surprise, the King clapped, laughing. “Bravo! I like a man who can fight on despite his wounds like that.” He spat on the body of Garrent now, “That fool thought I didn't know of his plans to assassinate me. Thank you for taking care of that problem. It seems I now have a job opening as chief protector... perhaps you would be interested?”

Gallic only had time to look puzzled before the prices of adrenaline came up, his body swaying. He fell forward with a crack on the ground, the King watching for a moment to make sure he was still breathing.

“I'll ask later then. Guards, bring him to a healer, let him rest, for now,” the King ordered, a few guards moving forward to obey now.

“Ooooh seafood!” Shimera said with a little dance in her voice. She heard the snap of Monkier's chopsticks and watched as she used them.

Shimera had read about the use of chopsticks, but not in detail. She didn't want to look too out of place, so she snapped her sticks and tried to copy her new travel buddy.

She ended up fumbling with them a little bit. The hand position was hard to get down.

“Oh geez...” Caitlin rubbed her head, sighing. She couldn't help but feel partially responsible for distracting her sister away from her goal... and that could be a problem for later. She sighed, nodding to Graham and the two quickly started following Liam and Rue.

[Castle]

Suddenly the door at the far end of the room slammed open, and several knights in black armor rushed in – and leading them was a blonde man, with deep purple robes over his pitch-black armor, and in his hand a sword that burned with a furious purple shine.

Xander slammed his sword into the ground without a word and tendrils of purple light shot out, slashing towards Cecil!

“... You made a mistake in coming back to Nohr, old friend.” Xander finally spoke quietly – but behind his calm demeanor, there was an intense rage in his eyes – and a hint of sadness.

[…]

Once Aiden, Didymus and Garnet were outside they were greeted to an unexpected sight – several soldiers were on the ground, some unconscious and others bleeding from various wounds. In the middle of them was Cid – his brown cloak cast aside, revealing a suit of deep blue armor with a golden cross emblazoned on the breastplate and his sword in his hand, sparking with white steaks of what looked like electricity.

“I take it the stealth approach didn't go quite as we'd hoped.” Cid frowned as he saw them. “Quickly! To the carriage, we must go before the roads are closed!”

[Hoshido]

[Forgotten Forest]

Musashi could only shrug his shoulders. “I never actually met her myself, unfortunately, and the she didn't leave anything behind.”

[Galdwin]

[Castle]

Rin's eyes moved towards Eleanor and she gave a soft nod.

“I was just reminded of someone I once met in Aurelia a long time ago. He was a Paladin as well. This was back in the days of my father's rule, when things were more tense between our lands. That Paladin intrigued my father, and I spoke with him at length one day. I believe it is the only time I met one of his order.”

[Streets]

Taichi's eyes widened as Kyran mentioned her abilities. Now he was grinning happily. “Fantastic! I did not think I'd run into a fellow mage in Galdwin of all places! I am Taichi Nomura, and I too am a mage. As is my sister, Nanami-”

Nanami looked far more uncomfortable than before. She didn't like the idea of using their names, although she doubted that anyone would recognize them this far from Aurelia.

“I would very much love to see your magic.” Taichi smiled at Kyran.

“No.” Nanami interrupted. “Don't forget where we are.”

Taichi frowned, turning to his sister and then sighing. “... I suppose that's true...”

[Aurelia: Many Years Ago]

“Wait.”

Rin had finally spoken up, the Princess walking past her father and towards the guards who had hurried to Gallic's side. She motioned for them to move, and although a few shot uneasy glances at the King, they stepped aside as Rin approached them.

She reached up to the bun holding her hair in place and withdrew a small, but very sharp hairpin. She pricked the end of her finger, watching as a single droplet of blood appeared over her pale skin. She then used it to draw a symbol in the palm of her opposite hand, and then clapped her hands together.

“... He is undoubtedly physically strong, and has intriguing abilities father – but you can't very well consider him as a protector until you see how well he holds up against magic. Wouldn't want him falling to the first clever mage, after all.”

She smirked. “... Not that there is a mage as clever as I, but that is beside the point.”

She clapped her hands together, and then touched them down on Gallic's chest. There was a flash of red light so bright it was blinding – but it lasted only an instant. Then Rin stood back up and took a cloth from one of the soldiers to wipe her hands.

“... Take him to the guest room... check on him in the morning. If he survives, it will heal him.”

Rin did not mention that her magic would tear through Gallic's body, ripping him apart on a cellular level and healing him just as quickly. It would be pain enough to drive a man to weep insanely and beg for death.

[Castle]

Cecil had expected that sooner or later, Xander-and some of his own former fellows-would appear.

"A mistake? Perhaps from the perspective of my own, physical well being, my prince." he said-there was no irony or spite as he said those last two words. "But know this-my love for our people, and your family, yet remains. And know this-it is in service to both-as well as a higher loyalty-"

As he said this, he sliced at one of the purple tendrils, and his armor gave off a burst of light, repelling another-"-that I do this!"

He raised his sword and parried a blow from Beatrix, pushing her away for a moment, before having time to turn about and block one from Steiner-who was himself attacking a bit more hesitantly than usual-but a tendril from Xander
struck him, and the four of them attacking were inevitably breaking through his defense...

"Brothers!" he called, addressing the Dark Knights. "Slaughtering our own people and calling upon dark powers that hasten the attacks of demons is not the way!"

"The kidnappers are STILL escaping!" Beatrix cried.

"She flees of her own volition!" Cecil insisted.

---

Didymus looked over the scene and called back to Cid.

"Indeed, they know we're here! We must hasten our escape, but..." he said. "...Cecil is still in there!"

He looked to Aiden and Garnet.

"Come on, ladies, please, into the cart." he added. He wasn't sure what to do about Cecil, but the sooner the ladies got into the cart, the easier their escape would be.

"There was a 3-to-1 fight against him when we left the room, that may well have changed in the last few seconds!" he explained to Cid. He didn't want to leave Cecil behind. It seemed...unchivalrous.

At the same time, every moment they delayed made their potential escape harder...

Galdwin

Richard listened to Gallic's story intently.

"Indeed, I imagine that would be quite a drastic shift..." he said. "...though really, the sword doesn't stop hanging over you in one role or the other, even if more literal or more visibly in the fighting arena than the courtroom."

Richard had indeed at this point been in real fights-he seemed to enjoy personally riding with his knights and armies on any time they had to be used, and if he could spare it, and he'd been in a bar scrape or two when travelling incognito. His son, on the other hand, was far less tested than he...

For his part, Percival was remaining quiet, but Elanor was not.

"At length, you say? And what, may I ask, did you glean from this conversation?" she asked.

“So you can heal as well! That's a very useful skill to have. I hope your bedside manner is better than Cait's though-”

As she rushed along with the others Rue nodded, looking back at her sister. "Much better I like to think!" she exclaimed, rushing down the hill back into the city. Luckily the hospital wasn't very far so they made decent time. As she arrived she gave a little sigh of relief placing her hands on her knees and taking a long breath.

"Miss. Jackson?"

Rue instantly looked up, face flushed. "Y-Yes?"

The man, obviously a doctor, raised a brow at the group. He didn't look pleased. "You're late"

The girl straightened up, wiping her skirt off. "I'm sorry, I was c-caught up."

"You're father is never late...Perhaps we should have just waited for him"

Rue wrinkled her nose. She knew the comparison was coming. "I'm sorry, it w-won't happen again. I can handle it" She then looked back to Liam, Caitlin and Graham. "I shouldn't take long, are you guys staying in town tonight?"

[Train]

“...I think so... the shadows remember, she can remind me."

Joyce frowned a bit. She knew Samara....Blake had her for years now. A side effect of being born with very contrasting powers.

"How is Samara?" she asked carefully.

I can't see what you're imagining
-Hoshido-

Town

The ramen stand order watched Shimera fumble with the chopsticks, then smiled and produced a work, handing it to the tall blonde girl.

“Here,” the owner said, “We get a lot of foreigners through here, don't feel bad you can't use chopsticks.”

Moniker nodded, grinning. “It takes some getting use to them.”

Forlorn Forest

Celest frowned, but nodded. “Then scrying is out of the question, not at my level. So it'll be good old fashioned searching I suppose...”

He looked over to Hiko, taking a sip of the tea now.

Castle

Aiden helped Garnet unto the cart, looking back towards Didymus.

“...If you want to go back to rescue him, I could... give you an edge,” Aiden suggested, “It's not magic! It's the blessing of my fire...”

Hospital

“I think so,” Liam said, “I will wish to talk with you after you are finished here... as it is...”

He looked towards the doctor, bowing slightly. “I apologize good sir, I was the one who unfortunately kept Miss Jackson from seeing to her duties, the fault lies with me. Perhaps this will help make things even?”

Liam produced a small bag and pulled out a small gem, worth quite a lot. “A donation for this hospital, the least I could do.”

Train

Blake smiled slightly. “Samara is well. She could come out now if you want, she's been shyer lately, I think I could convince her to.”

Sage wasn't entirely sure what he thought about Samara. She seemed like she was an imaginary friend, but Blake's powers had made her... more real.

Blake's younger sister, Kyran, with the same powers had never seemed to have that problem, but Kyran did have a twin sister which probably filled the same sort of needs that drove Blake to create Samara.

-Galdwin-

Streets

“Yah... kinda sucks we can't use magic around here...” Kyran said, shrugging. Elysia was looking puzzled, staring at the two and mouthing the words 'Nomura' and 'Aurelia' and trying to dislodge a thought from the back of her mind.

“But hey, could be worse!” Kyran said, “Locals still wanna hear Elysia sing, and she's also known for being a pretty powerful lightning user...”

Castle

Gallic smirked. “That is indeed correct. I've found tactics I learned fighting in the arena also translated to politics surprisingly well, though. It helps when you have someone at your back, in both.”

He glanced towards Rin for a moment with a smile, then returned his attention back to King Richard.

“That's the problem with children, isn't it? You know the hard times you had to go through to gain the values you have, but you want them to get the same values without having those same hard times...” Gallic added.

-Aurelia: Many Years Ago-

Pain... pain ripped through Gallic's body, thrashing on the ground in the room. The bed was destroyed, so were other pieces of furniture as Gallic's telekinesis reached out and smashed them. He breathed heavily, his body breaking and healing.

Despite this he didn't cry out, forcing himself through the pain.

As the sun rose, the pain finally began to lessen, and Gallic took several deep breaths. He was tired, but he was healed...

A guard opened the door and stepped in, pausing at the destruction, then seeing Gallic picking himself up carefully.

“...Go get the King and the Princess!” the guard ordered to the other.
