[Nohr] [Jackson House] Caitlin winced at her mother immediately questioning her about Graham. She really didn't want to have any awkward conversations about that. She was already trying to think of the best way to get out of this when Chloe spoke up. “Are you and the mysterious stranger banging?” If a glare could kill, Chloe's head would have exploded. Caitlin had always admired her 'aunt', but right now she could strangle her. Her cheeks were on fire and she wanted to shrink away and curl up into a ball. “Chlllllllooooooooeeeeeeee! Come on!” Caitlin groaned, burying her face in her hands. “You can't just say something like that!” … In the doorway of the kitchen, Graham sighed. He had, of course, followed Caitlin and was now hiding just outside of the room. He shook his head, and wondered if he should sneak out of the house- But as he turned around, he saw Connor, who just stood there looking annoyed. |

[Nohr] [Jackson House] "Oh come on, no need to be shy!" Chloe exclaimed, dropping Liam momentarily in favor of swinging her arm over Caitlin's shoulder and pulling her into a tight hug. "I mean he's really cute! And he looks like a gentleman! Oh a gentleman with some heroically tragic backstory- he's rugged like he's seen some stuff- that makes them even more attractive!" Meanwhile Sarai was keenly aware that Caitlin had not answered Chloe's (very inappropriate with Rue in the room) question...And now she was assuming the worst. "C-Caitlin who is that young man?" she managed, looking to her daughter finally. "Have you been traveling with him all this time?" |

[Nohr] [Jackson House] Caitlin immediately tried to wiggle free from Chloe's arm, but of course Chloe was far too strong to escape from with any ease. Caitlin instead just looked down, letting her hair cover as much of her face as possible and silently thinking of all the things she would do to Rue to get back at her. “S-Stop it Chloe! Don't just say stuff like that!” Caitlin groaned – but when she heard her mom's voice again, she froze. “I-It's not w-what you think!” Caitlin was suddenly stammering as much as Sarai sometimes did. “I mean, we have been t-traveling together for a while... Graham's just... I-I mean, it's complicated, it's not really a big deal or a-anything though...” She shot a glare at Rue. BETRAYED by her sister! |

Nohr -West Gate- As they approached, Didymus felt the urge to ask Garnet if there was an alias she could be referred to by, should they be asked. But it was a bit late to speak up about that, now that they had closed in to the gate and were riding closer... ...if they could just cross the border...he felt nervous. For a moment, as they road, he shut his eyes, in a silent prayer for deliverance. He then guided his chocobo closer to Garnet's. Delivering her safely across the border was the mission, he had to stay close by... ...the alert status of the border guards was clear, and he suspected that word would have already reached the gate of the goings-on at the castle, he didn't recall this level of stir and security when he was ENTERING Nohr for this mission. Still, he did his best to act casual, despite the bit of edginess he was feeling. "We really must try some of that luxury Nohrian cuisine some other time. Keep a taste of the country with us, you know?" he started up, attempting to sound like a traveler simply going about his way. ...and he also thought that if indeed they could get some Nohrian food, maybe they'd be able to help combat any homesickness that would manifest in Garnet. He could already see and hear the woe that seemed to be building in her-not that he blamed her, he imagined he'd be pretty distraught in her shoes-and already felt his heart going out to the princess... Galdwin -Capitol- Finally, the ground had been cleansed, the wounded tended to, and the commotion in the capital was starting to die down. Richard strode down the hall, as his wife ran out to meet him. "RICHARD! You...you're alright!" she said, embracing him as Richard grinned down at her. "Of course I am! Did you think that an evil creature could harm me, in the very heart of THIS city?" When Richard II came up alongside his father, his mother threw herself against him. "My boy! Are...son, did you..." she seemed to recover, the concern for her son finally easing, seeing him alive and in one piece. "...fare well?" she asked. For his part, Richard I beamed. "He did indeed. He fought, and handled himself well." he said. "You're still a bit rough around the edges, even a bit hesitant, I daresay..." "Only...compared to you, father." Richard II replied, causing his father to laugh out loud. "HA-HA-HA!" he roared, "You sheathe one sword only to make your own tongue another! And you flatter me at the same time-or is it perhaps a warming or mockery? Either way, I am impressed. In any case, you were showing the signs of a man who'd not been in many fights before. But that will change...especially if what the signs we are seeing are true...and ESPECIALLY if what Elder Owen warned me of is true..." "W-what did he say...?" Eleanor asked. Richard's tone grew more earnest. "He brought a girl who he was led to, who he wished to train-and the two of them together brought me a warning-a prophetic warning-that this will be the greatest and last of the Black Marches." he replied. "He said that I shall be the king that sees either the end of the March for all time...or the end of our nation and people." Usually jovial at the prospect of a great battle (for better or worse), the Lionheart was more quietly earnest. "Make no mistake, my son." he said to his heir. "The days ahead will be hard, and by the end of it, you will be a man seasoned at war, or you will be a man slain." While Eleanor's worry returned at this, Richard II's eyes met his father's with...resolve. "Such as it is for a son of our line, in times such as these, father." he said. "Let not our station keep us from the struggle of our people." The Lionheart smiled with approval at this. "Well said, my son." "Sir!" Percival called down the hall to them. "Ah! Elder! Word from the Order again?" Richard asked. "No more than what you've heard recently, with one exception: in addition to the...care package...we have near the border for the use of our operatives when they arrive in Galdwin...Elder Owen has personally departed to attend to the mission, after the...delay that we are experiencing in it..." Richard grinned. "Owen? Truly? ...I pity the poor souls who dare oppose the mission, or that may be causing this delay, then. This is good news indeed, for the mission's fate, but certainly not for whoever now stands against it..." "I take it...your guest...has departed, sir?" Percival inquired, having seen the airship leave earlier. "He has...it was...difficult to get a bead on them. But I do believe, for all our disagreements, he was saying something necessary. While we have many disagreements...the Black March has a way of bringing people together." he chuckled grimly at this. "That said, I still believe that they must be interacted with cautiously...and they probably think the exact same of us, at best. ...which is something I'd drink a toast with them to. One cautious monarch looking with wariness at the other." Percival chuckled, himself. "I'm sure you would, sir. And I have a feeling he'd join you in that drink-each of you after splashing a bit of the other's wine into your glasses, as is the custom of trusted drinks." Percival said. "But it will be good to have warmer relations with them, even if our cultural differences make getting truly close out of the question. The situation Nohr being what it is, it's nice to know we can at least have cordial affairs elsewhere..." Edited by The Vidit of Light, Jun 23 2018, 06:44 PM.

[Nohr] [Jackson House] Sarai watched her eldest daughter's expression and attempt to grasp for the proper words and felt a bit sad. Caitlin had always been fiercely independant, but had never kept anything so- important - from she and her father. Not one mention of the young man in any of her letters or during one of their visits. Sarai was both sad that her daughter had kept it from her and also sad that the girl was now so grown up that she had made the decision that it was best to do so. But she couldn't fault her. The girl was an adult now, she could do what she wanted. Not to mention she and Connor were nowhere near Chloe's level of 'okay' with suitors for their children. But still... "It's your life darling.....But can I at least meet him properly?" Sarai asked, no longer quite so panicky...She'd leave that to Connor (who in his eyes his daughters would always be like six). |

[Nohr] [Jackson House] Caitlin was still in a bit of a mental panic. She really hadn't ever intended on this being the way her parents would find out about all of this. She groaned, running her hand through her hair as she finally slipped loose of Chloe's grasp. When her mother spoke again, she sounded calmer, and that helped. Caitlin sighed and leaned against the counter. “... Yeah, I guess... I mean, it's not like I was really hiding it or anything... I mean, I was gonna say something when I knew... but...” She ran her hand through her hair and slowly moved towards the living room – in time to see Connor and Graham awkwardly standing there, and she just flinched again. Dad was a whole different can of worms she didn't particularly want to open. “... Super.” Caitlin sighed. “Um... mom and dad... this is Graham. We're friends.” She shifted awkwardly. Graham gulped himself. He was suddenly missing the part where insane people were trying to murder him. “It's very nice to meet you.” He said, trying to be polite. [West Gate] The Black Knight cast his gaze over the crowd. His face was well-hidden behind the massive helmet. The man himself was an intimidating sight. He was easily eight feet tall, and his armor was as black as pitch, his cape as red as blood. The massive sword at his waist looked large enough that hefting it would be a task all its own. It was clear he was no ordinary gate guard – this man was something else. Slowly, his sight settled on the group moving towards the gate. He peered towards them, letting his gaze linger on Zadkiel, Didymus, Aiden and Garnet. Then... “Ah! There you are Lawrence! I was worried!” An old man in a strange robe, with a long gray beard suddenly bounded over towards Didymus and clapped him on the shoulder as if he was an old friend. “You're late you know! Thankfully there's delays at the crossing, as usual. Had you cut it any closer, you might have missed your chance!” The old man smiled happily, and then he put his hand on Garnet shoulder – and she felt a surge through her body. A strange electric warmth. “Play along, dear girl.” The old man whispered. “So good to see you Susanne! It's been far too long. My you've grown! Well, come now, I have our passports, we should get in line!” |

[Nohr] Jackson House Sarai looked over as Graham and Connor appeared, and Caitlin formally introduced him. For what it was worth he seemed like a very nice young man, perhaps a bit older than Caitlin but nothing too absurd. He also was polite which won him a few more points in her book (of course that politeness could just be terrified nerves of having to meet your girlfriend's parents suddenly- if they were even boyfriend and girlfriend- and not something more- oh geez) “Um... mom and dad... this is Graham. We're friends.” "With benefits?" Chloe pipped up, earning another glare from Sarai. "Fine FINE" "Graham is really a good person" Rue decided to speak up, if for no other reason than to convince Caitlin that she wasn't better off an only child. "He helped fight off the bandits. He protected us." She didn't mention that they were attacked in the first place BECAUSE of him. Nope, Caitlin would flat out maim her. "It's......Very nice to meet you Graham" Sarai said carefully, extending her hand. "I trust you've been taking care of our daughter?" From her spot Chloe snickered, obviously having the maturity of a ten year old boy. She then looked back to Graham "So you guys really are just friends then? Nothing else?" |

[Nohr] [Jackson House] Caitlin shot a glare at Chloe, and if her eyes could curse, they would be. When Rue spoke up, Caitlin glanced over at her, somewhat thankful but also still extremely annoyed that her sister had said anything at all. She would have to pay Rue and Liam back for this, somehow, and her devious mind would come up with something. Graham meanwhile decided to ignore the burning rage radiating from Caitlin's eyes, and instead he shook Sarai's hand. “O-Of course. Though really Cait is the boss, I just follow along.” When Chloe spoke up again, Graham went from uncomfortable to super uncomfortable. “We've just been traveling together.” That... wasn't technically untrue. “Okay, you met him, can we eat now?” Caitlin spoke up, trying desperately to escape this subject. Connor had been silent the whole time. He didn't really want to be the traditional angry, overprotective father... he had too many bad memories of Genius and Sarai's brothers to really want to inflict that on anyone else... but at the same time, the idea that Caitlin had been traveling around with a guy and hadn't mentioned it... he didn't like that, and the mental images Chloe was forcing into his mind were not helping. |

Nohr -West Gate- This dark knight was clearly some extra addition, Didymus thought, to the standard gate guard. He felt a bit of humor in the situation-a Paladin, being stared down by a dark knight of sorts...of course, with what was appearently happening in Nohr, was a dark knight at a gate that surprising? Heck, he knew that one of their contacts for this mission used to be a "Dark Knight" as they were described, in Nohr's army...still, he kept trying to speak with Garnet and the rest of the party casually, along with his silent prayers for shielding and deliverance... ...until this old man showed up and started making a fuss with them-or less of a fuss, really, he was being quite friendly and actually helping to build the image that they were a tourist group that got separated or something...though his loud chatting may have only helped to draw MORE attention to them, not less. Still, realization flickered in his mind-this sounded like the type of help that Elder Orlandu would have arranged, he thought. Perhaps a tad unorthodox, but effective. Though he found himself wondering if he had seen this man before... All the same, HE seemed to know THEM. "A-ah! There you are! Thank you!" he said. "Sorry about the delay, we came as quickly as we could...some things you just can't help, and have to roll with, you know?" |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Nohr- Party Blake stirred as Lalia used her powers on him, put didn't seem to awaken, but it was clear he was breathing. “He might just be exhausted... let's take him back to the hotel, and make sure there's food for him when he wakes up,” Sage said, having first hand knowledge of seeing Galv and Joyce being extremely hungry when they used their powers on a large scale. Jackson House Mele considered what Willow told her, then smiled. “Well then, it seems someone or someones among us are quite interesting to outside parties. If I may, I volunteer my services to pro-” Mele began, but stopped as Edda's hand came down on his shoulder. “I think that's enough of that,” Edda said calmly. “But Willow, can you come outside with me for a moment? There's something I want to discuss with you.” Liam was quiet as the discussion went on, stealing glances towards Rue now and then. “Graham was very helpful in dealing with the bad guys,” Liam did speak up though. “And I know that he was willing to put up with great personal pain to keep Caitlin and the rest of us safe.” Graham had used the cold iron sword to knock out his eye to hopefully keep the bad guys from tracking them. Liam himself did not know how it felt, but Mele had once tried it to see, and had described the feeling as “like my organs were taken out, run through a mincer, then shoved back inside.” West Gate Zadkiel paused as the man arrived, then nodded towards him, picking up on what was happening. He kept forward, motioning Aiden closer to him, the two having an obvious family resemblance, Zadkiel producing a letter Loralee had written for him, giving him and Aiden credentials and sealed with the Fayre crest. -Aurelia Airship- Gallic sighed softly as Rin spoke, knowing that part of him believed everything she said. “Nevertheless, I have given the offer. We can't be the aggressors here. If they deny our help and fall... then that is on them. If after all this they come at us, it won't be because I goaded them into it,” Gallic said, “But rest assured, I will not hold back if they do attack.” He wasn't sure of the chances of that though... He had gotten the impression from King Richard that while he reveled in battle, he wouldn't pick one just because he didn't like the other guy. Gallic would have to give him a good reason, and Gallic had no plans on doing that. Oh, there would be a little light spying of course, Gallic assumed Galdwin had a few spies in his kingdom as well, it was part of the game, but Gallic would not resort to sabotage or dubious deniable actions like claiming lawless bandits were hitting Galdwin while they were actually funded by him. But the March... it could leave someone else in charge of Galdwin, or galvanize their religious base and produce a zealot of a leader there. It had happened before in places, the Elgaia Federation had a history of a religious force rising up and slaughtering the non believers, before they were taken out by some heroes, according to legend. “If Galdwin will not stand with others, then they will stand apart. I still believe we can get Ylisse and Elgaia with us at least. Hoshido and Nohr... We may end up having to pick a side. If even half the indications we're getting out of Nohr are true though... Hoshido would be the side to give aid. When we return, we'll send some trusted agents to Ylisse, Elgaia, and Hoshido at least, to broach the subject of a meeting at least.” |

[Aurelia Airship] Rin said nothing more on Galdwin. She was far less optimistic than her husband. She didn't trust them, but she didn't want to make enemies unnecessarily. She instead turned her mind to the other nations, as Gallic spoke of them. “Elgaia is a very strong possibility. We should meet with their leaders as soon as possible.” Rin agreed, quietly as she paced back and forth. “Ylisse... hard to say. Their King is young and untested. There's no real way to know what their reactions will be.” She didn't like uncertainty. It was perhaps worse than anything else. At least failure was a known outcome, and could be planned for and dealt with – not knowing left too many possibilities. “... Hoshido may be complicated. I know the former Emperor was not too pleased that my father rose to power in Aurelia, despite being born in Hoshido. Still, the current Emperor may be more reasonable... we should at least meet with them.” Nohr was another issue. “... Garon has always valued power above everything else. I would not discount the rumors. That man would do anything if he thought he could become greater than he is.” [Nohr] [Party] Laila was breathing hard now, having transferred so much of her own power to Blake. She sighed, looking around, and then nodding to Sage. “Then carry him! We need to get out of here...” [Jackson House] Connor raised his eyebrow, and frowned. He didn't like any of this, but right now there was a more pressing issue than Caitlin's possible boyfriend... “Who was after you? And why?” Connor didn't like the sound of this. Not after what he had been told earlier... [West Gate] The old man led the group across the way, chatting merrily and loudly. He talked about the weather, complains about the wait in line, and then waxed on about a meal he'd eaten earlier at a cantina, and told a story about some old man cutting off someone's arm over an argument. The whole while, he led the group away from the crowds, and over to one of the waiting areas. They weren't near the actual crossing now, and were out of sight of most of the guards, and out of earshot. “... Well, now, you've done well to make it this far.” The old man spoke, and as he did, his facial features slowly started to change – and it was suddenly clear that he was the same Old Man who had appeared seemingly out of nowhere back in Dali. Garnet gasped, as she realized this, and started to speak. “W-Who are you?” The old man merely grinned. “I am your guide, dear girl. Think of me as one to watch over you. Although how much help I can give is limited – extremely so, for now. Still... we should have a short time to speak.” |

[Nohr] Party Joyce followed the others out of Rouge's office, trying not to drum up too much attention as they carried two unconsious bodies out into the crowded party. Luckily it looked as if everyone was focused on their own good time (or perhaps unconsious bodies were the norm at Rouge's parties?) and they made it out with little fuss. Soon they would be back at the hotel, Joyce banging on Kanna's door while still clutching Samara's form. "Grandma open up!" A moment later Kanna appeared, brow raised. "Do I even want to know what happened to Rouge?" "She got away" Joyce said, moving past the woman to put Samara down on the bed "At least I think she did." [Jackson House] “Who was after you? And why?” "A woman. She had a band of men with her but she seemed to be the leader" Rue said carefully, eyes going to Graham. "They attacked our coach home and then the inn we were staying at last night" "Why though?" Sarai asked "You didn't have anything valuable on you did you?" Rue shook her head, frowning. "Then what else could they possibly want from a bunch of kids?" Chloe asked, now serious as well. Rue stayed quiet. She wouldn't give Caitlin more fodder to murder her. [...] “I think that's enough of that. But Willow, can you come outside with me for a moment? There's something I want to discuss with you.” Willow blinked, but nodded. She then looked back to Mele. "Uhhh be right back" The girl followed her father outside curiously "Everything alright?" she asked, pressing a strand of her blond hair behind her ear. |

Nohr -West Gate- Didymus talked with the old man who had been travelling with them, doing his best to make the conversation seem natural and just like a gathering of old family/friends, reacting fairly naturally to the stories being told as if they were true-though he was pretty sure that they were simple fabrications. Finally, they had been led to an out-of-the-way spot that appeared to be some manner of safety from the watchful eyes of the border guards. His hand hovered close to the hilt of his sword when the old man's features started to shift and change, but he relaxed a bit, seeing who/what it was. "Who are you, indeed, and WHAT are you?" he asked. "It's why you commented about how myself and Zadkiel would make good "guardians"...and you..." he paused, a memory clicking in his head, as realization sparked for a moment. "I...apologize, I don't mean to be rude, and we DO appreciate your help...but why are you here? Unless..." he looked to Garnet, before turning back to the old man. "...are you...an eidolon? Brought here to watch over and protect your summoner...?" he said, with a slight glance Garnet's way... |

[Nohr] [Party] “It was as much of a sh*tshow as I expected.” Laila frowned. She should have known – and really, did know – that any errand of her mother's would be filled with danger and someone would end up half-dead. [Jackson House] Graham paused, biting his lip. He didn't want to lie to Caitlin's family... but he also didn't want to admit that this was all his fault. Connor, though, frowned for a whole different reason. “... I don't know, but I'm just glad you're all safe. For right now, let's all just rest. I promise you, you're all safe here.” [West Gate] The old man gave a rather slight grin beneath his beard as he looked to Didymus. “Ah, that's right, you've met some of my kind before, haven't you?” Garnet gasped. The only Eidolon she had ever successfully summoned was Carbuncle, the small green fox. One of the lesser Eidolons – and she certainly hadn't summoned this man. “I am Ramuh, master of thunder and lightning.” The old man introduced himself. “... and the appointed guardian of this young summoner. The aid I can provide is limited, at least until you learn to summon me yourself, Lady Garnet... but I can still take some action.” |

[Jackson House] “... I don't know, but I'm just glad you're all safe. For right now, let's all just rest. I promise you, you're all safe here.” Rue took this as her perfect out, the girl quickly grabbing her tray of bread and meat in one hand and Liam's arm in the other "Uh come on, let's put out all this food!" She said slipping by her father, and purposely avoiding eye contact with both Caitlin (who she was still pretty sure wanted her dead) and Chloe (who was eying the girl like she was about to say something else embarrassing). Meanwhile Sarai just sighed, handing Caitlin another tray of food to take out. She looked to the girl, trying not to look too upset. "Just....Be careful love" she said simply, before looking to Graham. The girl was an adult, she had to trust her. [...] Connor may have said that they were all safe but obviously he was not aware that saying that was practically an invitation to invite trouble.... Trouble with a ponytail and a half dozen bandits that were pissed at their previous defeats. |
