[Nohr] [Countryside] “I will trust your judgment.” Garnet nodded. She wasn't entirely sure if proceeding to West Gate was a good idea, but she knew that this was far beyond her area of expertise, so she decided to trust the Paladin. It would be a short journey by Chocobo; already from where they were the massive mountain was visible. Nohr was surrounded on all sides by mountains; the few patches between them were shielded by a great wall. West Gate was built into the side of one of the mountains. [Hoshido] [Palace Gardens] After a series of blows, finally the massive tree fell. It roared and gurgled out some horrific sound, and as it was one the ground, Tamamo hurried forward and made her way to the center of its root structure. She glanced around until she came upon a circular, smooth stone that was as red as blood – she frowned and pulled it away, and then the stone burned up in her hand as she unleashed a powerful flame. “... The beast is dead, but... this does not bode well of our enemies...” [Jackson House] “... Just what's going on in here?” Caitlin jumped out of her chair, and nearly out of her skin, as she heard the familiar voice. She spun around to see a man in a long green cloak had come in – he had been quiet in doing so, unnoticed until he entered the kitchen. Behind that cloak was a tall man, his face still youthful and his eyes still bright. Connor looked very confused as he walked into the room. “D-Dad!” Caitlin exclaimed. “Cait, you're home... I'm so glad to see you.” Connor smiled, and then he looked over at Rue – and Liam, and then he paused. “Where is your mother?” |

[Party] When Blake manipulated his shadows the room went ver dark and Samara disappeared beside him. Just existing as a physical human took a lot out of his powers, so in order to do what she knew he was about to she vanished. At the terrifying display of power Rouge was not scared, instead she raised a brow and simply watched as her goons were disposed of. “Now... can we talk?” "And what would you like to talk about?" she asked simply. [Hotel Lobby] Joyce stared at Sage for a moment. "I.....I don't know what i'm doing exactly." she admitted, slightly out of breath. "I don't want you to run into trouble, but I don't want Blake to get himself killed either....But...." She looked down, obviously ashamed. "I need to do what Rouge wants, so my grandmother is safe...If Blake goes and messes that up she could be in danger." [Jackson House] Rue just about dropped the bowls in her hands when she heard her father's voice, the girl rushing over to him and crashing against him in a overly excited (and relieved) hug. The poor man was probably confused, but Rue was just happy he was back after the last day they had. "Dad" she mumbled before looking back up at the obviously confused man. “Where is your mother?” Rue frowned. "She's....Out looking for me I think. We ran into some trouble on the way here...." |

- Nohr- Party “McCall... my grandmother... that debt. You,” Blake said. “You're a villain. But I think people should have a second chance. So I'm giving you one. Call off the debt. I will make sure McCall doesn't steal from you again. And in exchange...” He held up his hands, his shadows swirling. “I won't systematically take down your organization and leave you in ruin.” Hotel Lobby Sage was quiet for a long moment, then sighed, looking downwards. “...Do we have to pay for the mistakes of our parents and grandparents?” Sage asked. “What has your grandmother done to deserve your help?” He sighed, then turned away from Joyce, starting back to the party. “What happens if this works? Your grandmother walks away and gets into another bit of trouble, and drags you in again. And again... She got herself into this mess, and if she doesn't like how people want to get her out, then that's on her. The only way you're going to stop me from helping Blake is if you physically stop me...” Jackson House “Oh! Mr. Jackson!” Sage said, as Connor came in. He knew Rue and Caitlyn's father, he was very kind. Liam liked him. But now that he and Rue were... seeing each other, even if nothing had actually happened yet. “Yes, we were hoping everyone would show up here...” Liam added, nodding. -Hoshido- Palace Celeste helped Musashi up now that the threat was over. “Come on, we should find you a healer...” |

[Hoshido] [Castle Shirasagi Gardens] Hiko sighed as Tamamo paid no attention to his comment, simply focused on the task of taking care of the enormous creature as she was. Lightly shaking his head, he felt like complaining: why is it that these people so often forgot courtesy? First Ryoma that made him stand for ages in the doorway, and now Tamamo ignoring him as well... It almost felt like he became invisible. Did he truly master his presence to such an extent that he was now so easily made unnoticed? Has he achieved such greatness that he looped all the way back into obscurity? ... Indeed, the longer he thought along those lines, the more he felt like complaining about it. Though he couldn't blame the woman. He wasn't exactly useful in this particular situation anymore, especially as he watched Celeste, Musashi and all of the warriors focus-fire the massive beast down, tearing into it with supernatural skills, mind-boggling magic and powers beyond the norm of achievement of any average man or woman. His own stamina was severely drained, and his spiritual power was rebuilding very slowly... Though as he watched the beast begin to crumble, he let both of the spirits that imbued him fade away, their contracts complete and their powers fading from his own, leaving the vague and familiar sense of emptiness that came every time he fulfilled the contract terms and let the spirits free. Every time he called for them, it was calling the presence of another after all. No matter how intelligent, it always brought with it a sense that he was never actually ALONE, that he had something or someone watching his back even though no one stood there at the time. He was lucky that his arts prevented him from ever truly getting lonely. Now though, as his spirit began to settle, he finally had time to examine the battle's progress. In particular though, Hiko was wondering about exactly who or what twisted his own existence so thoroughly as to give him such an edge when he was blown backward from the explosion of his own making. Even now, his mind rewound to the moment of the event, when he knew that he was going to impact back-first into a wooden beam that would surely cause enough damage to topple him for quite a long amount of time, possibly damaging his spine but also definitively breaking a few ribs from behind. But instead, he found his hands biting into the wooden beam he knew was about to hit his back. It wasn't a shift in space. It wasn't a change of location, or an acceleration of his motion, or even instant transmutation of the area. It was as if he was thrown differently from the very beginning, though he was one hundred percent sure that wasn't the case. He watched as Tamamo rushed into the gardens as the beast toppled, dove in between the massive roots and struck at something she homed in on, as the creature suddenly lost all of its vitality. All of its color, greens and browns fading quickly into a petrified gray after Tamamo's last, precise motion and strike at whatever this beast's heart was, and saw Musashi being helped up by Celeste further from the creature, the swordsman looking ragged and tussled. Thankfully, it looked like Celeste finished this battle pretty much unscathed, if not tired out by her use of magic. Aside from the state of those two, the entire Palace Garden was a devastated ruin, a wreck that held absolutely no resemblance to a garden anymore. the garden itself was originally surrounded by walls, a part of the castle's courtyard and very painstakingly maintained as a beautiful place of relaxation and zen. Now, the outer wall that protected the garden from outside elements was damaged in several places, both by whipping vines and holes melted in the stone and wood by the creature's acid. The inner wall, the one that actually served as the wall of the castle's main keep, was torn to shreds and revealed much of the chambers within. It was as if someone just dropped a vat of acid on the side of a castle model and watched it melt. And then stomped on it a few times for good measure. And then, there were the corpses. Dozens of dead soldiers that valiantly fell in the defense of Shirasagi castle littered the landscape in various states of desiccation. The vast majority of the dead were made so because of the acid the creature produced, the horrifying acid burns melting away flesh and bone alike. Others were speared through by the wooden vines, or broken and constricted by the same vines. A few lay within the collapsed stone ruins of the walls, having been thrown there never to get up. And then, there was the issue of the acid. Upon the creature's death, the liquid substance lost much of its efficiency, but it didn't simply disappear.Even now it was seeping into the grounds of the palace gardens. It would likely be decades (if not centuries) before the gardens could once again bloom. The disguised kitsune let out an annoyed huff. He liked those gardens. Now though... Now it was time to find out exactly how the blazes it was even POSSIBLE for this creature to attack so unexpectedly. And why he couldn't see hair nor hide of the dragon spirit that SHOULD have been protecting this place, and was instead nowhere to be found. So he hopped off the stones upon which he previously stood, and made his way towards Musashi and Celeste and the regrouping surviving warriors that were beginning to surround them, making sure to approach openly... |

I'll bite your legs off!

Nohr-countryside "There is that point, as well, Aiden. Thank you, though-we must certainly make haste if we are to take advantage of that possibility..." Didymus said. He looked to Garnet as she nodded at him, thinking it a bit strange, a princess deferring to him and letting HIM take charge rather than taking charge herself. The brief amusement at the concept passed quickly, replaced by a sense of honor-she was discarding any status she might have to trust in his own expertise, and placing her life in his hands. The weight of their situation pressed on him, and for a moment he felt uncertain-but no. He HAD to press on. They all did. They were being pursued. Certainly, it was possible to make a wrong decision-but the worst decision to make in this case, or at least one of them, would be none at all. "T...thank you, Lady Garnet." he simply said, but looked to Zadkiel. "Let us continue our ride, but ladies...and Vivi...if you would allow us some distance for a moment...not much..." he said, and then looked Zadkiel. "Certainly, when we have enough distance to chat somewhat privately...what did you wish to say?" he asked as they rode towards the mountain and the gate-in the distance, but getting there. Their chocobos were moving fast... Galdwin-capitol The cannons boomed. The Paladins and soldiers on the ends of the blessed ground (and more) prayed. And the Lionheart roared. "Have AT, unholy monster!" he bellowed again, laughing and shouting with exhilaration as his huge sword bit into the creature's legs again. His son had taken heart and skill as well, riding beside his father, and while not as aggressive as he, was landing blows himself. The strikes against the creature were building, whether from the blessed ground upon which it stood, the cannons, Richard, his son, Owen, Gallic, or Percival. Finally, Percival guided his steed high in the air again, and repeated his earlier maneuver-the steed dove, and the Paladin Elder's lance, ablaze with blessed/holy flame, was dipped, slamming into the head of the massive adamantoise with enough power to pierce its hard skull! With another loud cry, the beast slumped, lost its footing, and collapsed, Percival still keeping his lance in it (though having been shaken around by it, he had held on and urged his horse steady, moving with the jerks of the creature's head as needed, though keeping enough grip that the lance stayed in and the cut expanded)... ...the assault had finally brought the creature down. The holy/blessed flames that bit at it now spread even further, consuming the creature and purging the unholy energy that it brought with it, as Paladins and soldiers alike knelt and gave thanks for the victory... ...as they did, with the danger passed, the winged guardians returned to their posts, those that had been disguised as statues finding where they had been watching from and taking on once again the guise of earnest, unmoving decorations, there to resume their vigil... ...shortly thereafter, as Percival saw to any wounded, Richard rode up to Gallic. "HA-HA! How's THAT to get the blood flowing?!" he called. "Are you quite alright, Gallic?" he asked. It's true, he did NOT trust Gallic, even got rather unsettling impressions of him at dinner...but his adrenaline was still flowing. He was still feeling the rush of the fight and the sense of camaraderie, at least to an extent, with anyone who had stood alongside him in any way there. For his part, after the wounded were healed or otherwise seen to, Percival sought out Owen. "Lord be praised, casualties were minimal...and the civilians were unharmed, thanks again to His blessing..." he said, remembering the guardians ferrying away the civilians out of danger... "...are you alright?" he asked. And he paused. "And as I was at that state dinner, and you were occupied with introducing Jeanne afterward, and with the confusion..." he paused. "...we've received no messenger birds from the border with Nohr, have we? I haven't seen any, but I don't suppose you've heard anything?" Edited by The Vidit of Light, Apr 26 2018, 09:27 PM.

- Nohr- Party Rouge listened to Blake's threat, the woman rising from her seat and moving towards him until she was very close, the woman staring down at him in disdain. But suddenly...A smile curled on her lips. "You think i'm afraid of you little boy?" she asked, not showing an ounce of fear as she grabbed his chin with her sharp pointed nails. "You think I haven't heard threats like yours before- threats that came from men much more intimidating than you....I know about you child. I know about your whole family. I can have them all killed....Or better yet I could just kill the thing that makes you...Well you- Suddenly Samara appeared between Blake and Rouge, forcing the woman back a step as she stood face to face the a dark haired young woman who was obviously not human. "You can't kill him. And you can't kill me" the girl said with a frown, keeping her spot in front of Blake. "Perhaps not, but I have people who can. "You think I can't control you the same way I control your grandmother?" Hotel Lobby “What has your grandmother done to deserve your help?” "What has your father done to deserve yours!?" she countered, staring at him pleadingly. "Nothing, nothing at all. But that still doesn't stop us from wanting to help. Wanting to be better than them... It's a terrible position to be in." She moved forward a step, trying to keep from wavering as she spoke. "I'm not going to stop you from helping Blake, I want to too....But I also can't let you do anything that will hurt my grandmother." Joyce looked terribly broken about all of this. |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Nohr- Countryside Once the two were far enough away for a conversation, but close enough to still be there is something happened, Zadkiel turned to Didymus. “I am only here because my wife, Aiden's mother, does not trust the Order. I am not here officially, I am a man worried for his daughter. It is good that you took advice of others. I can tell you considered my suggestion, that is good. But I see some hesitation in you to make the decision. You are in charge here. Once we proceed further enough in Galdwin, I will head home to my wife and son, but I believe Aiden will wish to see this quest through, and I would not be surprised if the Elders continue to give you more challenging quests to complete. In this context, when you are the leader, you must not seem unsure, or bow to the decisions of others. Yes, Garnet may be a princess, but you are in charge of her safety and this mission now,” Zadkiel said carefully, “I've seen you fight, I've seen what you are capable of, and I believe you will continue to do great things, you just need to believe in yourself, that you can.” Party “...Okay... So that's it then,” Blake said carefully, “I guess I'll just have to stop you now then.” Blake focused, the shadows rising up from behind Rouge, forming a spike that came at her from behind! While Blake was a hero, he did have his father's... practicality when it came to dealing with those that threatened his loved ones. Hotel Lobby “I'm not trying to protect him! I'm trying to protect you!” Sage shouted now, shaking his head. “You kill him now for Kanna... who's next? Will it be someone else as bad? Maybe not as bad? It's one thing to kill when you have no choice, but this... It's just... wrong...” He shook, stepping towards Joyce and taking her hand, placing it on his chest. “Kill me then. Send a bolt of lightning through my heart. Rouge hears you kill Ryan's son, I'm sure she'll accept that as payment. It'll save your grandmother, after all. It'll stop me from continuing on here. And then you won't have to worry about me stopping you from the next time Kanna drags you into her mess,” Sage said, keeping himself still. -Galdwin- Capitol “Heh... I haven't had a fight like that in a long time,” Gallic said to Richard, smirking slightly. “But I believe this demonstrates a need to talk to the other nations... What would say a meeting somewhere else, such as Ylisse? It's as close as a neutral nation to everyone that I can think of.” |

[Nohr] [Jackson House] Connor was confused, but as Rue ran to him, he happily embraced his youngest daughter and hoped that he could provide some comfort for whatever was wrong. As he listened, and she explained, he could only sigh. So Rue had been late in coming home, and Sarai had gone looking for her... it wasn't that much of a shock. “I should have been home sooner.” Connor frowned, shaking his head. He looked over to Liam and nodded. “Well, for right now, I'm just glad you're all safe. And you're all here.” He looked over to Caitlin. “It's nice to see you around.” Caitlin just rubbed the back of her neck. “Yeah it's good to see you too dad.” “What's all the commotion?” From the other room, Graham walked in – and then paused. The girls certainly took more after their mother, but it wasn't hard to guess who Connor was – and he gulped slightly. “Oh... hello.” “Hello...” Connor was a bit off-put. Liam he had known since he was born (Connor and Sarai had likely delivered the boy? CR? AGOI? It makes sense I'm rolling with it.) but Graham was a total stranger, and a strange teenage boy in the house with his girls was a little different than Liam. (if only he knew) “Oh... uhhh... this is Graham. Don't worry about him.” Caitlin shook her head. “Kinda feel like I should.” Connor frowned. “We should focus on mom. You know how she is! She could be dead!” Caitlin insisted. “Caitlin! Don't say that!” Connor sighed. [Hoshido] [Castle Shirasagi] Ryoma was shaken. To be attacked so brazenly in their own home, it was devastating. The ancient protections they had depended on for so long seemed gone, and their soldiers had been ill-prepared for such a threat – and now many of them lay dead for it. “... Round up the dead. Insure they are given proper burials, and all the ceremonial rights. They gave up their lives for Hoshido, and we will honor that sacrifice.” Ryoma commanded one of his aids, and they sprang into action. He sighed deeply as he approached the others gathering near the beast's body. “Thank you,” He said, looking to Hiko, Celeste, Musashi, Tamamo and the others. “All of you. You've done a wonderful thing for Hoshido, and I am in your debt.” “... You okay?” Musashi asked, approaching his eldest sibling. “You took quite the nasty blow...” “I'm fine.” Ryoma shook his head. “My pride is far more damaged than my body. How could this have happened? The Shrines, the Wards – the Spirit of the Great Dragon! Why did he not appear in our hour of need?” “... That's a very good question.” Tamamo frowned, thinking back to her meeting with the lesser dragon. She walked back and forth, ears twitching and tails wagging absently. Whatever stares she might have gotten, she ignored. “... The Great Dragon would never abandon you guys... and to get past the wards...” She frowned deeply. “Ryoma-sama, has anyone unusual been around Shirasagi lately?” Ryoma thought about it. “Not to my knowledge, but... Saizo!” The moment he called for him, the ninja in red appeared out of the shadows. Whether he had answered some magical summon, or simply been hiding there all along was unclear. “... There have been some odd happenings. We had a few of the farmers from down below the mountain arrive with offerings to the Great Dragon. They were behaving strangely, but according to the ninja on duty who handled it, he believed they were simply intoxicated.” “What did you do with their offerings?” Tamamo asked. “And when exactly was this?” Saizo stared at Tamamo, and then looked to Ryoma, as if asking permission to answer. Ryoma nodded, and Saizo reluctantly spoke. “It was yesterday. We took the offerings and had them burnt at the alter. Even if the farmers were drunk, there was no reason not to honor their offerings.” Tamamo frowned. “... We need to inspect the alter.” [Galdwin] [Capitol] Owen did not seem pleased as the others. While many celebrated the victory, and others tended to the dead and wounded; Owen was sitting on a stone, near the fallen creature and contemplating. He looked as unhappy as ever, although there was something more intense on his face. When Percival approached, Owen stood out of respect. “Physically I am fine. However, I am... disturbed at this turn of events. For such a creature to attack us so brazenly, and to be this successful... it's true we won the day, and the civilians were safe, but such a thing should never get this close.” He shook his head. “There can be no doubt. The March is upon us, and this one is different. We must prepare for a battle like nothing we have ever experienced before. We stand against the enemy, and we will prevail.” He paused, at Percival's question. “Messenger birds? Not to my knowledge... wait... Cidolfus and Cecil were on that mission to Nohr. They should have returned by now...” |

I'll bite your legs off!
|
Nohr -Countryside- Didymus listened as Zadkiel spoke, reflecting on what he heard, weighing it. Aiden had told him much about her family, and he found himself unsurprised that her mother did not trust the Order. He wondered if indeed it was the Galdwinian Chapter/Order that she had a particular distrust of, but he did not voice his musings. It would be...needless, and may only stir up tension-something they did NOT need now. He eventually nodded. "There was...some hesitation, yes. But...I also meant what I said. This is not a kidnapping. Lady Garnet is coming along of her own free will, and I have no intention of, or at least hope that I shan't have to, force or lead her where she does not want to go-save her trusting me to lead her through it, in any case...and I did my best to weigh the pros and cons of each proposed course of action and provide my analysis. I understand that it is MY mission, or at least, now it is..." he said, reflecting again on Elder Orlandu-and even Cecil-were left behind, however necessary it was..."...and in that regard perhaps I should have been more firm, but even then, I think it was necessary to allow Garnet that choice, even if only after much debate. I would not wish to be a kidnapper." He slightly grinned. "Nohr will, if they go public about this incident, likely accuse Galdwin and the Order of kidnapping Lady Garnet. The least we can do is ensure that every step of the way was actually of her own free will." he chuckled a bit, but regained his more earnest look shortly. "As for Aiden, I understand that you are concerned about her, and I am quite sure that she will indeed want to see this mission through...though admittedly part of me suspects that she has less conviction to the mission and more...to me." he said-it was quite clear to him that Aiden fancied him, and he doubted that Zadkiel was unaware of this. "And I think that should we make it past the border into Galdwin, we will be MUCH safer...but that said...Garnet is not my only concern on this mission." he said. Then he looked to Zadkiel directly. "I am under orders from country and Order to safeguard Lady Garnet's life with my own in God's name...and I shall do the same with Aiden's life." "As for the Elders and further tasks...indeed, I suspect that that shall indeed occur, especially with...the March coming, if the signs we've seen are any indication...but this is not my first task. I know that I can expect more to come in assignments from the Order, at least, barring my being sent to our Lord in the process of fulfilling this one." he said, with another brief grin. "...but...thank you." he said. "Confidence...is something, at least sometimes, I must work on..." he said, before looking back to the rest of the group. "...and on that subject, let us return to the rest of our group, and prepare to try to infiltrate the stronghold of our opponents..." and with this, he began to steer his chocobo closer to the rest of the group, and checked to fasten his brown overcloak around himself. "Let us all wrap our cloaks around ourselves, appear as standard-traveller-like as we can, here..." he called out to the group at large. "...hmmm...let me see if we have a spare cloak for Vivi..." he said, attempting to rummage around in a pack he had kept on himself to see if there was an extra. "...I get the sensation we may want to hide your appearance, just in case...someone at the gate knows where you were being held..." Of course, of bigger concern was if someone recognized Garnet (at any rate, if they knew she wasn't supposed to be out and about), but her own cloak should do well enough for disguising her, he thought... Galdwin -Capitol- Richard actually laughed at Gallic's first remark. "Haha! Haven't had a fight like that in a long time?! Well, glad your visit to our land could oblige, though I do wish it could have been by...other means. Such creatures treading here, so brazenly, so suddenly. It is...well, I suppose as you say, concerning. A meeting with other nations? Heh, in light of what appears to be coming...that...seems like a good idea. I suspect the church will probably be calling for something similar, this could be a good time to get that arranged now...and Ylisse, you say? That...I suppose you are right, that could be seen as as close to neutral ground as we can find on this continent..." he shrugged a bit, nodded a bit. "...between the two of us here, we can attempt to plan when, at least around our schedules, though probably the soonest possible, though it may be a bit to get messages sent to all other nations...well, at least we have our two right here! Ha! But you mustn't leave, not now, not so soon, not after THIS! You should rest, at least spend the night-I would not feel right if a guest in my house was not sufficiently rested after standing with me in such a battle!" Meanwhile, Percival nodded to Owen. While his face showed more serenity and less intensity than his, it also showed earnestness. "It's good to hear you're alright. I don't think I would call their attack terribly successful-for the results you stated-but I also agree that it was a surprising "success" that they even indeed got so close, and so quickly, with such little warning...I join you in being...concerned...by these events." As Owen commented on the March, Percival nodded once again. "We've been receiving messengers from elsewhere-the Templars report that something stirs, some cults being more...aggressive, or making more...contacts...conspiracy building...it seems indeed another March is upon the land. But yes...we must ready for it...and by the grace of God, march in trust in Him and hope of triumph...and yes, on the subject of that mission, that was the one Elder Orlandu went on. He, and one of our Brothers by the name of Didymus-himself not entirely inexperienced at this point-as well as a lass who wished to attend as well...and yes, Cecil met them." He paused, agreeing with Owen's analysis of their timeframe. "It is...concerning...that we have received no word from them. I posted some aid for them directly near the border-Brother Didymus' own horse, for one, as they decided not to take a war stallion with them for the sake of stealth. But I suppose all we can, or at any rate should, do for them now, otherwise, is hope, and pray that they do indeed return safely. If their task fails...I'm sure I don't need to tell you of all people what that may mean..." "...but enough of this, for now. Let us give thanks for our victory, tend to our wounded, and pray for and marshal our strength for the days to come." |

She could be dead!” "For once Caitlin isn't over exaggerating" Rue said worriedly, looking back at her older sister before turning back to her dad. She wasn't sure how smart it would be to tell her dad this, but he was bound to find out eventually. "We were attacked on our way home...By some bandits and some insane woman who wants him." She pointed to Graham. This probably wasn't going to make their dad trust the strange man in their kitchen any better. [Party] Rouge's eyes darted from Blake to the spot behind her shoulder where a cold breeze suddenly appeared, whipping around with only seconds to spare. A second later more shadows came, shooting at the woman as if they were intending to impale her- which they totally were. Once again she dodged, narrowing her eyes and moving with impressive speed. From Blake's side Samara suddenly appeared, the girl with a murderous look in her eyes. "Call them off and let me kill her myself" she said, eyes not leaving the battle in front of them. It took a lot of energy for her to be out while he was using his shadows- but this was worth it. [Hotel Lobby] Joyce stared at Sage for a long moment as he grabbed her hand and placed it on his chest. She could hear the beating of his heart now- and by the sound of it he was terrified. “Kill me then. Send a bolt of lightning through my heart. Rouge hears you kill Ryan's son, I'm sure she'll accept that as payment. It'll save your grandmother, after all. It'll stop me from continuing on here. And then you won't have to worry about me stopping you from the next time Kanna drags you into her mess,” She didn't know it was possible but her eyes widened more as she stumbled back a few steps. "W-What?! NO! I don't want to kill anyone! I especially don't want to kill you! You're my best friend! I lov-" She paused, face bright red. She shook her head, looking down "I....I can't. I won't hurt you...." |

-Nohr- Jackson House “Graham is a friend,” Liam said carefully, not stating that Graham was more Caitlin's friend then anyone else. “And yes, like Rue said, we were attacked... We fended them off and got here, but no one was here yet. It looks like two people set out here earlier, before we got here...” “Hey I think I hear people coming!” Mele shouted from outside, “Don't think they're hostile though...” Mele might be hearing the others! Countryside “It is good to be concerned, I know I have made mistakes in the past myself. Now that I am older, I make different mistakes,” Zadkiel said with a small grin, “I will emphasize you are doing a good job. Many of your age would be showing the pressure of this assignment, you are holding up well.” He sighed softly, “As for my daughter... Perhaps do not mention this to the higher ups, but in my experience people will talk about laying down their life for God and country, for ideals, but when push comes to shove, it is other people they fight for. For their fellow soldiers, for their family, for those personal connections they have. Do not get me wrong, to fight for a just cause is important, it is what gets many started to making the world a better place, but it is other people that help us finish it.” As they returned to the group, Aiden put her cloak around herself, wondering what her father and Didymus had been talking about, but didn't see them looking awkward, so assumed everything was fine. Party Blake took a deep breath, pulling on the power he felt inside of him. He couldn't quite access it directly, the electricity that went through his body, but he could surge it into his shadows, giving himself and Samara a boost of power. “We'll both go after her!” Blake said, his own blue eyes narrowing at Rouge, “Go!” His shadows shot from the ground at Rouge, smashing through the ground and anything in their way, Blake knowing the shadows could not hurt Samara even if she was directly in it's path. Hotel Lobby Sage shook slightly, shaking his head and trying not to cry himself. “I... I don't want to lose you either Joyce... but that's what will happen if you do what Kanna wants. You won't... you won't be you anymore.” He paused for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts. “My father is a terrible person. Truly terrible. If Rouge killed him herself for what he did, I wouldn't bat an eye. It's just one evil person killing another. But you... It's one thing to kill someone in self defense, or because they threatened your family... But it's Kanna who is getting your family threatened, she doesn't deserve you as a granddaughter...” -Galdwin- Capitol Once more, for a moment, Gallic wondered how a fight between him and King Richard would go. He was fairly confident he would win, confidence was not something Gallic was in short supply of, but he figured it would be a climatic fight. But such thought was merely a “what if” in his mind, fighting King Richard was something Gallic would prefer to avoid if at all possible. “I appreciate your concern, but it is what happened here precisely being why I believe we must leave now. If something like this has attacked your home, then what of Aurelia? As the King I must be there to protect the people and the land. It would not do to be resting here if those I left behind are fighting for their lives when I could help them,” Gallic said, “With your permission I would like to leave an ambassador here with a couple staff, to help coordinate. They will have a... we refer to them as a Message Mage, who can send short communications over long distance. With your blessing they can send messages to me to coordinate another meeting.” |

The Crazy One

[Nohr] [West Gate] Soon, the group would come within view of West Gate. A massive wall of stone and iron sat along the border. It had been built years ago, after one of Nohr's many wars with their neighbors. It stretched across the Western, Northern and Southern borders of the nation, with soldiers constantly standing by on the wall, arrows and spells ready to take down any approaching threat. The only way across was through the Gates, which were large circular opening that could be closed off at a moment's notice with a combination of a giant stone slab and spells that could keep it sealed shut. Passing through the Gate without arousing suspicion was paramount. And as they approached, the area was already teeming with soldiers. News of Garnet's “kidnapping” had spread – and there was no doubt why. Wyverns flew overhead, making it clear that Nohr's Wyvern Riders had been dispatched. “... This will be challenging,” Garnet frowned, as she looked out towards the Gate. “Though not impossible.” [Jackson House] Caitlin shot her sister a 'why did you say that!?' look, but didn't vocalize anything. She then looked to Liam as he told a very... convenient... version of the truth, and was very grateful to the boy. She'd have to thank him later, when her dad wasn't hovering around. When Mele spoke up, Connor immediately moved into action. “Stay inside. I'll go check it out.” He walked to the front door, and quickly stepped outside – his left hand was glowing with a gold light as he walked. “Who is there?” [Galdwin] [Capitol] Owen frowned deeply. “Cecil, whatever he once was, is a good man and a capable warrior. And Cidolfus is one of the finest warriors I've ever known, although if you tell him I said that, I'll be very cross with you.” The old man shook his head. “... Something may have gone wrong. I will see what I can learn, I will go to the border myself and investigate.” He looked to one of the aids running about the battlefield. “You there, Squire! Go and have my eagle saddled and ready to fly!” He turned back to Percival. “I take my leave now, brother. The girl – Jeanne – I will leave her here, she may be of aid to Galdwin.” |

I'll bite your legs off!

Nohr -West Gate- Didymus shook his head at Zadkiel's comment. "Do not mistake me, I am no stranger to this concept-that it is the personal conncections that motivate people in combat, and in many other things-indeed, Scripture itself praises fellowship. And I think that the higher ups are not ignorant of this idea either, though we may argue, to an extent at least, that the Order still is somewhat different in that regard...but there may be more than one reason why we are encouraged to regard each other as "Brothers"..." he gave a slight chuckle. "THAT SAID, my concern for Aiden remains...that maybe she follows her...fancies...with me perhaps a tad much. Into danger and darkness she may or may not be ready to confront...simply because she sees ME charging at it. Whether or not I'm ready to confront it may be a debatable matter as well, but I suppose it's not to be a Paladin's way to doubt if he is prayed over and chosen. In any case, thank you..." As they rejoined their companions and approached the gate, Didymus nodded at Garnet's comment, disappointed seeing the Wyverns overhead. This was CLEARLY the route they were expected to take, and a moment of doubt ate at him-this was the most predictable move they could have made. Still, he steadied himself. He mustn't waver. This was something he had already considered... "Indeed, it will be. Everyone keep your cloaks down, Lady Garnet, please avoid making any eye contact or otherwise letting anyone recognize you...and Vivi, if you please, do the same. I...considering where we found you, and who may be looking for us, I suspect if anyone sees you, there may be some trouble, as well." He paused. "As much as I'd want to do the talking...I think that if anyone who was actually AT the castle was there, they will recognize me. Aiden was there too, though may not have gotten as much attention. Zadkiel, you weren't there until AFTER we were out on the streets, not sure anyone really got a good look at you or what you sound like...which honestly makes me think that YOU should probably do the talking. Either you, or Aiden. I can do it, and as much as I'd like to try, I think that the least amount of possible risk in this situation is if someone who WASN'T right there in the castle dueling with their royal guard. Of course, the odds of them having someone there are...well, I don't know. Point is, as much as I hate to shirk this duty, it seems that Zadkiel doing the talking presents the least risk. Though if all else fails..." He looked to Garnet. "You COULD, Lady Garnet, if we have exhausted all options, ORDER the guards to stand down and point out that you are NOT being kidnapped, but, perhaps, going for a visit?" He chuckled a bit grimly, but there was sincerity in his words. "You ARE coming of your own free will, and you DO intend to return, so technically it wouldn't even be lying! They've probably gotten orders from your parents to block your passage, but the orders from their princess to allow her to pass may at LEAST catch them off-guard, should we be unable to just pass peacefully." He sighed. "So...that's my recommendation for who does the talking and when to speak...if we have to fight, then...stay close, and we charge forward to the gate. And we try to signal the Galdwinian border posts somehow-I...have been informed they are expecting us, so I expect they're watching the gate here quite eagerly-and may send help if they notice something. And that's to say nothing of the agent Elder Orlandu stated, or at least implied, he had here to get us through...anyhow, any questions or objections?" Galdwin -Capitol- Richard listened to Gallic, and as the latter was sizing up the former, he may have noticed...Richard was doing the same to him. The Lionheart had the gleam of battle in his eye, and was meeting Gallic's mental sizing-up with one of his own. Still, as Gallic spoke, Richard nodded. "If that is your decision, very well. As for this envoy...we would welcome an ambassador, but as steward of these lands, I'm afraid I cannot consent to the methods of which you speak. That said, we Galdwinians DO have ways of getting messages quite quickly from one point to another..." he said. "...whether it be riders or more...sophisticated...methods..." he added, thinking of some more recent research he was aware of..."...and we can get those to the border at least...once they are there...well, I may not approve, but it's less of my business what you do in your borders than what goes on in ours, I suppose..." he chuckled. "In any case, we would, again, welcome an ambassador." Percival nodded to Owen. "Very well, brother. I shall, when I can spare my attentions, see to Jeanne-but in the meantime I must also help with our mustering. The land's armies are still being prepared, as well as our fellow Brother Paladins. The border posts near Nohr ARE keeping watch for the coming of our dispatched party, with some aid waiting in the wings, but I'm sure they would welcome the presence of an Elder." he said with a slight grin, before his face turned serious once again. "So fly, brother. Fly, and go with God. May He guide you and this mission." |

GRAPPLING HOOK!

[Jackson House] Rue knew Caitlin was probably annoyed at her, but what she said was the truth- and their dad have every right to know. Especially if it put their whole family's lives in danger. Not to mention he was their dad! If anyone could make everything better it was him! Suddenly there was a noise outside that Connor went to investigate. He immediately told the girls to stay inside, but naturally they didn't listen. Rue rushed out behind him, peeking through the door to see what was coming. She just prayed it wasn't that same lady from before. With a cloud of dust and a very relieved sigh from Rue two very familiar horses came into view, along with several people she recognized. The girl rushed out past her dad, the relief very evident in her face. "M-Mom!" [Hotel Lobby] While Joyce was now a couple steps back from Sage she kept her eyes trained on him, feeling quite a few conflicting feelings in her gut now thanks to the boy. She understood what Sage was saying (and actually agreed with it) but she also felt terrible about the idea of leaving Kanna to deal with her own mess for some reason. She just wanted to help everyone. "It's not just that I want to help her because she's family" she admitted after a moment's silence. "It's also...." she became quieter "Im afraid of what will happen if I don't. I don't want her to come after Blake...Or anyone else if I can help it....If i'm helping her, she doesn't need my brother" Too late on that front. [Party] Samara went after Rouge alongside Blake, the two quite a dangerous pair when they fought together. The only downside was that using his shadows and keeping her out was using an alarming amount of energy. She already felt unsteady on her feet, she could only imaging what he was feeling at the moment. But hopefully they wouldn't need too much longer to end this. Rouge was still fighting the shadows coming at her, but looked as if she was tiring. Truthfully Samara didn't know how the woman was still standing - or why she hadn't already given up....It was as if she was stalling for something.... |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Nohr- West Gate Zadkiel nodded, ushering his chocobo forward. “I can speak. I do have some prior experience dealing with Nohrians.” Since his wife was one, after all. Jackson House “Hey!” Edda yelled, waving as he saw Liam and the others. Liam shot forward towards his parents and sister, smiling at them. “So you got some use out of that old sword of mine, huh?” Edda asked, looking at the cold iron sword at Liam's waist. “I... yes...” Liam nodded, “And your teachings on getting through the wilds...” “Well, you all can catch us up on what happened,” Edda said, looking around. “I see Rue and Caitlyn and Mele... who's the other guy?” Hotel Lobby Sage was quiet for a moment, then nodded. “Okay... then let's help her. But on our terms. You don't have to do what she asks blindly, okay, there's always other options,” Sage said, steeling himself. “You're smart, I know you can figure something out, and I'll be with you every step of the way.” Party Blake had a large amount of internal energy... but accessing it was a problem. It was like a funnel, he could only get so much at a time, the rest of it backed up, unable to get out. So he focused, trying to draw out as much as he could, his shadows reaching around him now, some of the power funneling to Samara to keep her around, the rest condensing to him. “I won't let a villain win!” Blake said, “I am here to stop you from hurting anyone else!” -Galdwin- Capitol “I see... Unfortunate,” Gallic said, “I do appreciate allowing me to use my abilities to aid you in the fight against this monster. It can be frustrating when one is not able to rise to their potential. As it is, I shall leave an ambassador and a detente for them.” He nodded towards Richard now. “As it is, I worry for my own kingdom, and must depart as soon as possible.” |
