[Hoshido] [Castle Gardens] The massive hulking tree creature suddenly stopped its assault, standing still as its root dug deep beneath the grounds of the garden – and then the creature's massive maw opened, and it spat out a thick, viscous sap onto the ground which bubbled and hissed, forming a large puddle of acidic sap. Several of the roots suddenly flailed into the sap, coating themselves with the acid and then they began to swing wildly, flinging the acid in every direction! Musashi, meanwhile, looked to Celeste as she spoke – and his eyes widened. She had a point – a very good point, and he quickly cursed it. Fire was a much easier solution for him – the glimmering crimson ring embedded to the hilt of his sword was proof enough of that. Yet she was right, and right now what they needed was a chill. As she cast the spell, Musashi frowned. He knew what he must do. He passed his hand over the red ring and it suddenly sprang forth out of the sword, and Musashi quickly stowed it in his bag – and as he did, he replaced it with a cerulean ring the same shape and size. “... I'm absolutely terrible with this one... but... even if it doesn't actually help, I know having the Ring of Fire in the sword will fight whatever ice spell you just cast, so at least this way I won't interfere with your magic.” Musashi knew that all of his words wouldn't quite make sense to Celeste, but he could worry about that later. Tamamo listened to Hiko and she frowned as she did. He had a point. Powerful cold could perhaps drain this plant monster of its ability to regenerate, and might be enough to take it down... although she doubted it would be as simple as that. “Assuming that this creature's sap obeys the same principals as a true tree's sap, then you're idea is a good one. However... such a twisted abomination, crafted by the darkest of the dark arts... we should not assume anything. That sap bubbles and burns like acid, and while it can extinguish flames... it may be resistant to being frozen.” She rubbed her chin. Tamamo was both a spirit and a mage – she sensed this creature in a way unique among those gathered. She could see the traces of the twisted hands that had sculpted this nightmare, and she had a horrible feeling on what that meant... “Still, while I am wary... I see no better plan... but it won't be enough to simply freeze the outside. Hiko-san, if you can cut an opening, I will unleash everything I have at its insides and try to freeze the sap.” [Galdwin] [Capitol] As the ground became consecrated, the beast looked to be in visible discomfort. It was in no way defeated, but it had slowed, and it looked unhappy – it seemed that the favor of the battle was to turn! “Just like a man of your arrogance, Percival, to assume cheap tricks like that can stand against us.” The enormous ice turtle's massive jaws moved, but rather than the fierce roar from before, the voice that spoke was as loud as thunder, but calm. The shadowed outline of what may have been a person suddenly stood on the creature's shell. The figure was tall, and had long hair that flowed like water – but it was impossible to make out any identifying features. The turtle's mouth moved once more, but it was clear that the shadowy figure was the one truly speaking. “Hallow your ground. Bring your armies. Fire your cannons. Bare your steel. Slaughter this beast and give your meager thanks to your God; but know that what stands before you is but a drop of water in the ocean compared to what awaits you. Know this, and know it well – Percival, Richard, Orlandu, Owen – all of you; Dawn has risen on Galdwin's final day. Soon Dusk will fall, and so shall your Kingdom, your Church and your God. The time of man is over – the time of mortals has ended!” The shadowy figure vanished, and the massive turtle suddenly shook – two of the large icicles on its back began to quiver and shake, and then they shattered – and leathery wings like those of a bat sprouted out! The creature, it seemed, was going to take flight! [Nohr] [Dali] “I... I think I can...” Vivi grimaced as he climbed to his feet, Garnet supporting him. The tiny mage clutched onto Garnet's leg to steady himself, and then slowly made it back on two feet. He shook a bit, but looked otherwise okay. “Are you sure you can move?” Garnet asked with concern on her every word. “... I think so.” Vivi replied, and Garnet took his hand and gently led him on. She looked to Didymus. “We should go and get the chocobo... I want to keep Vivi close, and keep him safe.” [Kanna's Hotel] “Oh come on, who is it?” Laila frowned, as she walked over and grabbed the paper. She could tell from the way Joyce and Sage were acting that it was bad news - Then she looked at the note, and she sighed, and stared at Sage. She had heard the stories about the boy's father... particularly the ones involving her older sister... while Laila herself had been sparred from ever having really interacted with Ryan, she knew plenty of guys like him, and she wasn't a fan. She sighed, and made up her mind. She would following whatever Joyce decided, but if things went bad and the only way out was to deal with Ryan as Rouge wanted... then at least she could spare Joyce and Sage the guilt. [Inn] “Ohhh you whiny little b*tches and your 'fair fight' nonsense.” Sire growled, rolling his eyes. “It honestly makes me want to spew. You idiots who treat fighting as a sport, who think it has rules, who think the world should be 'fair'... you sicken me.” Sire narrowed his eyes, as he squeezed Moira's neck a bit tighter. “I got news for you pal, in this world, only one thing matters – if you're strong. Look at all the nations! Nohr? King. Hoshido? Emperor. Galdwin? King. Aurelia? King. Monarchs! People who have power and exercise it! And those without power grovel at their feet like the pathetic trash they are! That's how the world works. While people like you whine about 'fairness', the powerful rule the world!” “You want to see power, little boy?” Moira suddenly spoke up, and Sire blinked in surprise – and then Moira grabbed his wrist, just above where he was holding her neck – and there was a sharp flash of red electricity, and then screams. Sire's armor dissolved away, and then so did his flesh. Sire kicked Moira, pushing her away as he jumped backwards and looked down at his arm – which was now just blood-soaked bones. Moira quickly scrambled back to her feet, her hand still pulsating with red lightning... and coated in Sire's blood. |

-Nohr- Kanna's Hotel Room Joyce looked absolutely miserable, falling back into the chair with a soft thump. She knew Sage's father was pretty much the worst, but she didn't want to hurt him. Hurting him, even when he stole from someone as dangerous as Madame Rouge, still seemed wrong. “Maybe I can talk to him?” "Do you think he would listen? I mean you mentioned that you guys don't have the best relationship..." she mused. "If you don't do as Rouge asks she'll kill your grandmother" Samara noted, mentioning it not as a particularly bad thing, just a basic statement. In all truth she didn't care. "I'm not gonna kill Sage's dad!" Joyce snapped, glaring at Samara. "Then Kanna will die" Samara noted with a shrug. The older girl groaned, leaning back and closing her eyes. This was not good. Inn As soon as Moira made a move to grab Sire Chloe pulled Willow close to her, quickly spinning the girl around in order to not see what was pretty much guaranteed to happen. As expected Moira's grasp proved fatal, burning the flesh of her attack and leaving Chloe a bit nauseous at the sight. Sarai looked equally put off, but quickly rushed to their horses, pulling herself up. "We need to go. NOW." she said as forcefully as she could. Mele's Coach Unaware of the carnage happening not very far away the coach made it's way closer and closer to the girls' home, Rue's anxiousness growing with every passing moment. She wasn't sure if coming back would be bringing trouble to their home, but if it did she was sure her parents could help fight it off- after all she was still thinking about the heroics her father apparently accomplished when she and her sister were young. She couldn't remember it herself but she doubted Caitlin would lie about something like that. Finally the small house in the countryside came into view, Rue perking up as she noticed it. |

[Hoshido] [Castle Gardens] The situation was getting progressively more and more out of hand. In some ways, Hiko was absolutely floored by how the events were unfolding, and it was with great scrutiny and some befuddlement that he watched the creature not only give the best Hoshido had to offer a fight for their money, it was LASTING. It wasn't winning, not by a long shot, but it was lasting far too long for his own liking. Regenerative ability. Exceptional resilience due to being made entirely of living wood, laden heavily with the sap that corroded anything that wasn't wooden or alive. Numerous vines used to attack from multiple directions. A massive pool of acidic substance underneath it, serving as a moat. It was causing enough devastation to put very damaging marks upon Shirasagi Castle. To be honest, he never expected it to get this far, do this much damage so quickly. The emperors of old responded quickly with nigh-overwhelming force, and most creatures of similar size and ability were quickly dismantled and removed as a threat. Why was it then that it was taking so long now? How was it capable of withstanding so much damage that he, of all people, was needed to intervene, that the royal family and the core of the most elite warriors of Hoshido wasn't enough? The implications were chilling in their enormity. For now, he needed to take his mind away from said implications. He needed to focus on th task at hand, and his female companion had provided him with a possible avenue of approach, one he was going to make the best use of he could. And that idea was to make a big enough hole to actually exploit. Not even for himself, but to let the skilled magic-users approach the problem appropriately and attack weakened points. This meant, however, that he needed to make a hole. And that was an undertaking and a half: the thing's bark was just far too resilient to be normal. He would need to attack it with something powerful enough to actually breach that defense. Something that was going to cause a lot of damage. And something that wasn't going to cut the castle and mountain in twain while he was at it. He let out louder breath than usual, steeling himself and spoke. "... I think I can provide that, Tamamo-san." And just as he finished speaking, his form wavered... And simply faded in the wind, like an image that wasn't there to begin with, brought about by the rays of the moon... ----------------------- The Hiko that currently had the spirit of the Rat infusing his own was, in contrast, quite real. It took him some time to find an avenue of approach that wasn't going to crush him instantly, but with his now-decreased profile, Hiko was able to slip between several of the lashing roots before they embedded into the ground to reach for the acid, and managed to get to the trunk of the enormous tree monster. That's when things got dangerous. Its sap was acidic, and the massive creature embedded its vines into the ground, layering all of its vines with sap and then used them much like a dog shaking off water, flinging acidic spray in every direction. Luckily, Hiko was already at the trunk. Unluckily, he was right in the center of the thrashing vines. So, he danced, like a spinning top of never-ending motion, Hiko bounced and bounded between the vines like a rubber ball in a confined space, using every little surface, timing his jumps carefully at enormous speeds, focusing heavily on just staying alive and away from the parts of the vines that were layered with acid. He didn't even have time to swing his sword, he was too busy simply dodging about. Finally, after the initial thrashing subsided just a little, he found himself in mid-air between several dozen vines at the side of the creature, with an open area allowing him to finally take a breath, re-shift his ki from his legs into his arms and blade, and finally let loose. When in such hectic motion, his own spiritual power built at a much higher pace, thanks to the technique shown to him by an old monk ages past, a technique that allowed his mind to be still while his body was in motion. Now, with so much spiritual ki available, it was a shame not to use it while it was there, and Hiko's arms blurred as finally his blade left its sheath and struck. Like traceries of silver in the air, his blade traced circles around him as he was sailing through the air from one vine to another, striking ten strikes, then ten more and ten more until the blade and his arm were nothing but a trailing blur of motion, tracing dozens, perhaps even hundreds of cuts in the air as he cut and slashes at the vines that were once more enclosing him. And with his blade, sharpened as it was bu the great spiritual ki he built, was sharper than a razor, and could cut through steel and stone as easily as through paper. But as he cut, he used the remainder of his built spiritual energy to send another call for another spirit. He could not assimilate the traits of two spirits simultaneously, but he could call upon another and keep it 'waiting', ready to shift immediately to another's traits as soon as he willed it... |

Nohr Didymus looked about as Garnet helped Vivi to his feet, still wary and uncertain about the whole situation. Clearly, there was something sinister occurring within this town, and he felt that as an ordained knight and brother in the Order, it could be his duty to find and possibly even remedy it, such as he could try to. ...but he had a different quest now, one of great, potentially, importance...though in his mind he considered if rescuing one woman was more important than delivering an entire village...of course, perhaps the village wasn't in as much danger as it would seem, but those monsters HAD seemed pretty indiscriminate in what they were willing to do... ...still, Garnet's loss could mean more than just one villiage, but an entire country, falling into a dark conspiracy...she seemed to be the only member of her family who had avoided its grip (or at any rate allegiance to it). "May God have mercy..." he said, still feeling conflicted about the situation, but resolving to continue the mission. He looked to Garnet. "Yes, yes, let us go...this way, please..." he said, urging them back towards the chocobo stables where their new mounts were hopefully awaiting, but still staying near them, refusing to let Garnet out of his sight or even get particularly far away from her... Galdwin -Capitol- When the shadowy figure began to speak, Percival remained undaunted, instead weighing the situation, along with Richard on the ground. Percival hardly responded to the claims and taunts of the figure at all, simply holding his sword downward-making it resemble a cross-as he proclaimed "The Lord rebuke you, creature!" Richard, on the other hand, heard the taunts...and actually roared with laughter. "Do you think you SCARE us, sorcerer?! All you do is echo the taunts and claims of a thousand thousand slain warlocks and exorcised demons before you! Your great beast itself buckles and chafes before the might of God! It wavers at the strength of our steel, and heavenly guardians already ferry our people beyond its reach! So in turn, perform your blasphemies, if you seek damnation! Send your horrors and unholy hordes against us! Whether it be in a march or in countless other conflicts, you and your ilk have come against the Church and against Galdwin, professing supremacy to God-and been scattered by His grace and the strength of the very arms you now insist we raise against you! I defy you, sorcerer, and all the unholy powers you conjure, in the name of Galdwin and in the name of God! Beset on all sides by foes, by the grace of the Lord, GALDWIN ENDURES!" he cried, the moment taking him and his blood stirring. "THE BEAST IS PAINED BY BLESSED GROUND! LET US CORRAL IT! CANNONS, BLOW AWAY THE FORMING WINGS! IT CANNOT ESCAPE WITH FLAWS IN ITS FLIGHT!" he called, taking a position at the perimeter of the blessed ground. Meanwhile, Percival, perhaps not approving of Richard's speech, but preparing anyway, angled his horse downward in air, putting aside his lance and instead drawing his sword-which he touched to his lance, as blessed flame spread to it as well-and dove at the base of one of the creature's wings! He was going to cut at the very foundation of one of the wings, in intent to cut it and keep the creature on the ground! If it regenerated, he thought...he'd just dive again. The important thing was to keep it in the blessed area... |

[Nohr] [Kanna's Hotel Room] Laila leaned against the wall, biting her lip. This was a bad situation. She didn't want to see her mother die, even if the two didn't have a very normal or loving relationship. Kanna had her faults... many, many, many, MANY faults... but Laila would never truly wish anything bad on her. At least not this bad. She sighed and thought about it. “... Rouge is powerful. If we don't do what she wants, she'll find someone else who will, and then both Sage's dad and Kanna are dead. Probably us too, for that matter.” She hesitated. “... Somebody is going to have to die. Either Ryan... or Rouge.” Laila didn't see a way out of this without bloodshed. “... killing Rouge would be extremely difficult. We might not even be able to do it. I guess the question is... is it worth it to risk so much to save Ryan and Kanna?” … I mean... when you put it THAT way... [Inn] “Let's go!” Moira yelled to the others, and she started forward, when she heard a loud torrent of profanity from behind her. “YOU MISERABLE ****-MUNCHING WHOREBISCUIT! Just for THAT, I'm going to tear the skin off your bones BEFORE I kill you!” Sire was back on his feet. His right arm was hanging limply at his side, now just bloody bones, but it didn't seem like the loss of his skin and muscles was going to slow him down. Moira looked surprised. She had doubted that anyone could even survive the loss of so much blood so quickly and violently, but Sire looked... unnaturally well, all things considered. [Mele's Coach] As the coach drew closer to the humble house on the hill, Caitlin looked up to see it and saw the lights were out and it didn't seem anyone was awake. That worried her for a moment. It seemed odd to think their mother would sleep soundly with Rue late to come back... “Something isn't right...” Caitlin frowned. [Dali] Garnet stayed close to Vivi, helping the small boy along the way. As they walked, he would occasionally stumble and she stopped to help him back to his feet. She didn't know what had happened in that building, but she was sure Vivi had hurt himself... When they reached the stables, they found four chocobo, tall yellow bird-like creatures who were waiting and saddled. The mayor wasn't around, and no one else had come to see them off. Garnet stopped and pulled Vivi over to the side, and then she knelt down. “Wait, let me heal your injuries before we ride.” She paused for a moment, closing her eyes as a faint white light gathered in the palms of her hands. She mumbled something and the light sprang forth from her hands and enveloped Vivi, soft green colors shining around him – and then Vivi gave a sigh. “T-Thank you...” [Hoshido] As Hiko assaulted the vines, and the armies of Hoshido tried their best to keep the monster at bay and limit its damage, Tamamo ran over it all in her head again. None of this made sense. This creature was powerful, sure, but it didn't feel particularly overwhelming. Something like this should have been easy fodder for someone like Ryoma or Takumi, with their unusual weapons, or someone like Celeste with her potent magic. The fact that this creature was so resilient... the fact that it could shake off so many blows from so many powerful individuals... something was clearly wrong. Something big and deep and enormously wrong... She knew already that a powerful darkness was at play, but darkness was not so indestructible. She should be able to combat it especially well as a Miko, but it seemed to do nothing... “Shikon no Tama.” Tamamo turned her head to see the ghostly visage of the Dragon of the Mountain. The woman stood beside Tamamo, and her anger for the kitsune seemed to be forgotten for the moment. “Can it be? One hasn't been created since the last March... I thought the Paladins of Galdwin had specifically tracked down and eliminated all those who knew the dark knowledge...” Tamamo looked shocked, and horrified. “They killed the humans who knew, but the dark knowledge did not originate with humanity. The Black March has returned, and with it, come by Archdemons – such perversions are simple fodder for them.” The Dragon spoke. Tamamo froze, and she nodded. “I see... then we may have a chance...” [Galdwin] [Capitol] “Sorcerer? You insult me, pathetic human king, if you would lump me in with humanity.” The shadowy figure spoke, and though its facial features could not be seen, the smirk of arrogance was obvious even from just the tone. “You speak to your better; you speak to the Lord of Decay, greatest of the Archdemons! I shall savor watching Galdwin's decline! I shall laugh as your people turn their backs on your crown, your church and your god! I shall drink your tears, and they shall be sweet to me! I will dance upon your graves, as Galdwin and all it stands for decays into ruin! This is but a small taste of the doom that awaits you!” Suddenly a voice spoke out – it was soft, but at the same time held an unmistakable power in it. Richard, Percival and the shadow would all hear it. “My King! Sir Percival! Listen to me, our enemy is a cunning one, but the depth of its deception has been made clear to my eyes!” Jeanne stood upon the castle walls, holding her banner, and a soft golden light surrounded her. The sword was still fastened to her belt, but she had a burning determination in her eyes. How her voice carried to those it was intended for – and one who it was not – was not immediately clear. “The creature does not regenerate from its own power. Embedded within the creature is a terrible object... it has gone by many names, in many nations, but you would know it as a Soul Stone. A stone created by murdering a large number of people, and embedding all of their pain, misery and regret into a physical manifestation... that stone is embedded within the beast. The beast acts as a barrier to block the stone from being destroyed by the consecrated ground; and in turn the stone heals the beast from within, keeping it from being destroyed.” The shadow now seemed far less amused. It's unseen visage turned towards Jeanne on the castle walls, and it stared with murderous intent. “The Soul Stone is embedded somewhere in the creature's body – I believe hidden in one of the icicles on its shell! If you remove the stone, the creature will be easily destroyed!” Jeanne shouted – and the shadow pounced, flying from he back of the beast towards her! Jeanne slammed her banner into the ground and there was a flash of golden light, and the shadow was rebuked away and vanished! |

-Hoshido- Castle Gardens “Right... go! It'll have to deal with Hiko and you and my magic!” Celeste said. Her magic flowed into Musashi, giving him a boost of speed like before, along with a few other temporary enchantments to help keep him protected. And she would fire blasts of ice magic to help slow it down... -Galdwin- Capitol “A Soulstone? Dark magic indeed...” Gallic said, hearing Jeanne and looking towards the creature. Fire spread around him again, leaping to the air and moving towards it, the shape of a large predatory bird once again. He focused his power, aiming for one of the large icicles as well, but unlike last time he would not veer away and let the fire attack it alone, he was going with it! -Nohr- Dali Aiden followed along, worried as well, but looking a little better when she saw the chocobos, her father standing by them. “We are ready to go,” Zadkiel said, nodding towards them. “I regret we can not stay longer...” Kanna's Hotel Room Sage frowned. He didn't like Kanna or his father. If his father died of a heart attack he wouldn't really lose any sleep over it. If he was killed because he hurt someone else, well... he had expected that... But Joyce getting involved in this. Blake was quiet as well, before he spoke. “...If Rouge is a bad person, she's going to do more bad things, right? Then we should stop her somehow,” Blake said simply, standing up straighter. “That's what I want to do, stop bad people!” Blake could be uncomplicated sometimes. Inn As Sire yelled at those retreating, Edda ran forward, pulling the sword from the ground, charging at Sire! His armor glowed, draconic energies from the one who bestowed it on him came into effect, and for a moment the illusion of dragon wings was behind Edda as the sword caught fire, slashing at Sire! “You got to deal with me first!” Edda roared. Jackson House “Maybe they went out on a call?” Liam wondered as the coach came to a stop. He got out, looking around, hand on his sword hilt, but he didn't draw it yet. |

Kanna's Hotel Room Joyce was quiet for a few moments, clutching a throw pillow from the couch as she thought over her options. While the answer should have been obvious it really was a lose lose. No matter how bad his father was Joyce didn't want to hurt Sage's dad- not because Ryan didn't deserve it but instead because she couldn't bear to hurt Sage- even if he did seem impassive about his dad. But Kanna- “...If Rouge is a bad person, she's going to do more bad things, right? Then we should stop her somehow,” Blake said simply, standing up straighter. “That's what I want to do, stop bad people!” "I'll do it" Joyce finally decided with a sigh. "I mean Rouge didn't say I actually had to kill him right...Just hurt. Scare mostly...If I can do that then Rouge will be happy, she won't hurt Kanna and we'll be free and clear..." She didn't sound too convinced but her options were limited. She also realized this didn't really 'stop' Rouge as Blake suggested....But one crisis at a time. "Now how would I get your dad to meet with me-" Suddenly a knock on the door which caused Joyce to jump out of her seat in surprise. She hesitantly went over where a man held a package, giving it to her. She blinked, but (dumbly) accepted it, turning back to the group. "....From Rouge" Inside the box was a dress, a rather short one. Joyce blinked and then groaned. Jackson House Rue rushed past the others and into their house, slightly frantically looking around to make sure no one had been attacked in their home. Connor was due back soon but shouldn't have beat them home....Because of this she doubted their mother would just leave on her own- especially when she expected Rue...Something was indeed wrong. "Mom's not here" she mumbled, feeling a panic settling in. Like her mother she was prone to overreactions and bouts of panic, but considering what they had been through today was totally justified. |

[Nohr] [Dali] “... There isn't more you could do, even if we did stay.” Garent spoke quietly, and there was evident sadness and pain in her voice as she took another look at the damage done to the small city, and thought on the hints that something far darker was happening here. “The truth is, Dali is not unique in these respects. I fear that whatever darkness lurks here, lurks all across my nation... even if we could do more for Dali, it would be at best a temporary respite. The only way to truly save the people of Dali is to save Nohr... that is why we cannot dawdle.” It seemed it was hard for her to say, but she believed it. [Kanna's Hotel Room] Laila ruffled Blake's hair and smiled a little. She liked that undying and naive optimism. It was horrendously unrealistic, but it meant Blake had yet to experience just how terrible the world could be. He hadn't yet lost his childlike naivety. The conversation shifted, and while Laila was skeptical that simply hurting Ryan would be good enough, it was possible they could get through this without taking his life. Although she had a feeling it would still be pretty nasty. Then Joyce got the dress, and Laila grimaced. Nasty indeed. Ryan had a well-known reputation, and while Laila had a feeling her cousin was no stranger to creeps, Ryan was like the king of creeps. “Okay, so we go pay a visit to Sage's house, pretend like we're just dropping by. Joyce seduces Ryan, gets him thinking with the wrong head, and once you're alone you stab him in the kidney and tell him if he screws with Rouge again you'll stab someplace else next time. And the rest of us are in the house, so if something goes wrong, we can intervene before things get too... awkward.” She cast a glance at Sage, and had a feeling that just suggesting his crush seduce his dad was awkward enough. [Inn] Sire was shocked as Edda bounded forward and draconic wings seemed to sprout from his back! The flaming sword slashed across his side and he fell backwards, bleeding and burning – and cursing quite loudly. “I'LL GET YOU ALL!” Sire shouted, but he was collapsed on one knee and clearly in critical condition. Moira cast a glance at him, and while she was nowhere near the healer her brother was, she knew a lot about wounds – and was certain Sire would die from him. [Jackson House] Caitlin walked into the house quietly, followed by Graham. It was the first time she had been home in quite a while, and she hadn't expected the house to be cold and empty. It so badly clashed with her memories of how warm and cozy the house was – her mother always doing something, a slightly nervous wreck, but with the kindest smile Caitlin had ever known. Her father putting around the house, doting on their mom and on them. Now it was so... bleak. “Where the heck could mom be?” Caitlin frowned. (Gonna wait on HA and Vidit to do Hoshido and Galdwin) |

-Nohr- Kanna's Hotel Room “No!” Sage said, shaking his head, “We're not... No...” He took a deep breath, steadying himself. “Let me talk with my dad first, okay? We don't actually have to hurt him. But maybe I convince him it would be a good idea to leave the country for a while... Before we have to resort to violence...” Sage glanced towards Blake, who was smiling towards Sage. Blake always looked up to Sage... “Maybe I should talk with Rouge...” Blake said. “With my powers I should be fine, after all.” Inn Edda gripped his sword, wary. Sire was dying... And Edda wasn't the kind to spare him, but someone in Sire's situation often lashed out in unpredictable ways. A cornered animal had nothing left to lose, after all. “Everyone go, I'll stay,” Edda said to the others, warily eying Sire for another moment before scanning the forest line. Jackson House Mele glanced around, following Caitlin, Graham, and Rue inside the house, while Liam stayed outside, inspecting around there. “...Horse tracks... fresh too,” Liam said, “Maybe we just missed her...?” Liam muttered to himself as he looked around some more before heading back to the house. |

I'll bite your legs off!

Nohr -Dali- Didymus was glad to see the chocobos all out and ready to go-though he noticed that there were only four, as opposed to the five-one for each. Well, he supposed someone would have to double up-he briefly considered who SHOULD be doubled up-on one hand, having Garnet double up with him would mean she was kept closeby at all times, on the other, being on seperate chocobos would mean that he could draw away attackers and allow her to flee if need be...the latter piece of logic seemed to be more convincing to him. "There are four chocobos here, but we...are five." he said, looking to the group, still a bit hesitant about Vivi-among many other things that were going on here. At Garnet's statements, he shook his head. "May God have mercy..." he said, but still wondered-did Garnet know more? Just how much DID she know about what was going on? Was she aware something like this was occurring, and if so...why hadn't she said something? Maybe she just didn't know specifics, or what was going on HERE...in any case, perhaps that was neither here nor there. "In any case, we should figure out who's doubling up, and be on our way." he said, moving to find a mount. For all his concerns about all that was going on, he had to stay focused, if indeed there was nothing further they could do for this village... "...Lady Garnet, I recommend you take a chocobo for yourself, to allow you greater speed and allow us to be able to engage any potential pursuers without endangering you..." Galdwin -Capitol- When the shadow announced itself and declared its true identity, Richard still bellowed back. "Regardless of what you are, you give little reason for us to fear-you invoke the same unholiness that Galdwin's enemies have invoked against it time and again! WE DO NOT FEAR THE SHADOW!" he called, as he rode forth, attempting to cut the creature's legs and feet and keep it immobilized! When Jeanne appeared, and made her announcement, and the shadow attacked her and dissipated, Richard actually...chuckled. "HA! Attacking a Paladin apprentice-and being exorcised there! Messenger and aspect though that may have been, this so called "Lord of Decay" impresses is neither might nor wisdom! HAHAHAHA!" he roared jovially, reveling, it seemed, in all that was occurring...the fight, the exorcism, defying the enemies of people and church and God...he felt his blood rushing, the adrenaline flowing...he felt so ALIVE now...and had to shake his head a bit, reminding himself to stay focused, and that this was a BATTLE, with danger and loss, exhilarating as he found it... ...Percival, for his part, heard Jeanne's cry, and thought for a moment, wondering if perhaps he hadn't simply ASKED for that sight-or if he had, simply not focused enough or taken time to listen enough, or if such vision was meant to be given to Jeanne alone. In any case, that was all part of the walk, he thought-and it was good to be reminded of the necessity of such things as pausing and asking, and listening, and good to see that both young and old, he thought, having their contributions to this fight and the favor of God...in any case, he paused, his mount holding position in mid-air, and he prayed quietly, asking for sight, to see if indeed there was a soulstone within the unholy beast before them-he theorized that even with such a thing, ground blessed and prayed over here may well take its toll on the beast, but even if that was true, it was still putting everyone here at risk the longer it stood... ...finally, he opened his eyes, a white light shining from them as he gazed upon the creature, first checking the icicles upon its back, attempting to see if indeed there was a soulstone there, asking to be shown it that he might exorcise this threat... ...and finally, he saw it-an aura of darkness even deeper than the rest of the unholy-spawned creature. The "core" of it, as it were. "Thank Thee, Father...and if it please Thee..." he whispered, and spurred his horse, its blessed wings flapping to get into a more advantageous position...and then he dipped his lance, still ablaze with blessed flame...and then spurred his horse again, its wings pushing it in mid-air in another dive/charge, lance pointed straight at the soulstone in the icicle! |

-Nohr- Kanna's Hotel Room “Okay, so we go pay a visit to Sage's house, pretend like we're just dropping by. Joyce seduces Ryan, gets him thinking with the wrong head, and once you're alone you stab him in the kidney and tell him if he screws with Rouge again you'll stab someplace else next time. And the rest of us are in the house, so if something goes wrong, we can intervene before things get too... awkward.” Joyce gave a small nod at Laila's strategy. It seemed to make sense and really if anyone would know about sketchy dealings it would be Laila (no offense of course). “No! We're not... No...” Joyce frowned as Sage spoke up, knowing the young man was conflicted. She didn't want him to take on her burden but he also had the right (as Ryan's son) to try get him to leave town. Still....Deviating from Rouge's plan seemed dangerous. If Ryan ran off did that count as punishment? Would Kanna have to pay for Sage's warning to his dad. "Why do you wish to protect your father?" Samara spoke up suddenly, eyes on Sage once more "You said it yourself, he's a bad person. He deserves to be punished" "Samara!" Joyce barked, only managing a slight brow raise from the shadow girl. Samara turned her attention back on Sage. "It seems like punishing him is the obvious answer. After all you care more about the wellbeing of Blake's sister moreso than the man...." Jackson House Rue searched the entire house before rejoining the others, the girl looking even more nervous than before. "She's not here" she said softly. "Do you think she went to look for me? Dad shouldn't have been back yet from working....Surely she wouldn't have gone alone...." Rue loved their mother but Sarai was not the definition of bold. Leaving in search of her possibly missing daughter with no leads to go on didn't seem to be within her realm of reasoning. But it looks like she may have, which meant the woman could possibly be walking right into danger. She looked to Caitlin. "Do we go back out there and look for her? Or do we wait here?" Caitlin was the big sister and adventurer, she'd know what to do. [Inn] "You idiot! I'm not going to let you fight him alone!" Chloe yelled at her husband, keeping her eyes on Sire while she did so. [...] Meanwhile Jade chose to stay in the bushes, despite Sire's pretty dire looking situation. This is what he got for trying to act like an unstoppable badass. A bit of humility (and a beating) would do him good. Of course she'd bail him out if things got too bad....But for now she watched. |

-Galdwin- Capitol Gallic focused his fire, seeing Percival go in for an attack as well... “Foul creature, feel the fire of the phoenix!” Gallic roared as well, charging at the creature, trying to keep it's attention on him while Percival went for the core! -Nohr- Kanna's Hotel Room “I do care more about Joyce then my father... Which is why I don't want Joyce to have to hurt someone, even someone like my dad...” Sage said, shaking his head. “Let me talk to my dad. Maybe we can get him to run, put out the rumor that he got wounded from someone sending him a message. Rouge doesn't want us to drag him bleeding to her right? And if worse comes to worse... I'll do it. Joyce shouldn't have to get blood on her hands...” Blake was quiet, frowning slightly to himself, then nodded. “...I'm going to talk to Madame Rouge,” Blake declared. He then vanished into the shadows... Party Blake reemerged at the party in a deserted corner when no one was looking, blinking softly and shaking off the momentary feeling of cold... Blake wanted to be a hero. He grew up on tales of valiant knights, intrepid explorers, and brave warriors. A hero wouldn't just sit back and let someone evil like Rouge force people to hurt others, right? Jackson House “In these sorts of situations it's usually best to stay in one spot. We know your parents will come back here, right?” Mele suggested as Liam came up. “That's... actually good advice,” Liam said, “There's some horse tracks, fresh. We must have barely missed them. Why don't we wait here and make some breakfast for when they return? I can help cook.” Liam cooked about as well as his dad, pretty good at grilling things and things that were hardy and stuck to your stomach. Inn Edda glanced towards Chloe, smiling slightly. “He's dying anyways,” Edda said. “I'm just going to let him bleed out.” He wasn't stupid enough to get close unless he absolutely had to. |

Kanna's Hotel Room Joyce was both annoyed and flattered that Sage didn't want her to do this. She knew it came from a good place, more of a care about her wellbeing than his own father's but it was also frustrating. If she didn't do this her own grandmother was doomed- and no matter how frustrating Kanna was Joyce didn't want her dead. “...I'm going to talk to Madame Rouge,” Joyce's eyes widened at Blake and she stood to stop him "Wait no-" He was gone, leaving Samara there for only a moment long enough to glare at the group before disappearing herself. Party "Do you really think talking to her is going to help?" Samara asked, appearing beside Blake, now in another dress. This time it was long and black to match her perfectly curled raven hair. Jackson House “In these sorts of situations it's usually best to stay in one spot. We know your parents will come back here, right?” "I....Hope they would" Rue said uncertainly, knowing the young man was speaking logically. Surely her mother could protect herself....Or at least hopefully she would give up quickly and come home.... "Why don't we wait here and make some breakfast for when they return? I can help cook.” Rue wanted to protest but her stomach growled stubbornly at the sound of food. It had been a day since her last proper meal and she was both starving and exausted. In any other circumstance she would collapse in her bed and sleep for the next two days, but this was a bit unusual. "O-Okay...We'll stay for a bit. Hopefully she'll come back..." Rue said, still trying to convince herself that this was okay. She then went to their pantry, pulling out a few things "Anyways we probably should eat something in case we need to go back out there to find her...You guys get cleaned up, Liam and I can cook something" Inn Chloe wasn't 100% confident but she knew her husband wouldn't do something totally idiotic so she gave a small nod. |

The Crazy One

[Nohr] [Kanna's Hotel Room] Laila was really conflicted. Part of her wanted to just go and do it herself, but she wasn't sure she could on her own. She didn't like the idea of dragging Joyce and Blake into this though – and then, without much warning, Blake disappeared on his own. “... Oh great.” Laila sighed, crossing her arms. “Now what do we do?” [Jackson House] Caitlin frowned. She really didn't like the idea that their mom was running around in a panic trying to find Rue... her first instinct was to go find her, but she had no idea which route Sarai would take, or how far she had already gone. If they set off looking for her, then they may miss her again. “Ugh, mom, why?” Caitlin frowned, walking over and sitting down in the kitchen. “... Okay, Mele's right. Let's just wait. Sooner or later mom has to come back.” Graham was looking around the house. It was nice. Cozy and warm; he could immediately see why Caitlin would want to travel, knowing her, but he found this place comforting. It reminded him of his family's house... at least the way it had once been. [Inn] Sire was on the ground, arm completely ruined and blood quickly leaving his body. Jade wasn't coming to help – he grinned, coughing up blood, and realized he was in real trouble this time. “F-F*ck... can't believe... this is how... I go out...” His vision started to turn black. He was slipping. Just as life was slipping away, Sire felt something. A calling. A voice, speaking quietly. “My, my! To think I'd find a human with so much rage, so much hatred. So many terrible desires... oh now you would be fun. I will save you, little human... and you will serve me, as my general for the March.” Moira suddenly froze. She felt a terrible coldness. “Something is wrong! Edda, GET BACK!” She waved her hand and long strings of golden light wrapped around Edda's waist, pulling him backwards and away from Sire. She slammed her hands together to put up a translucent barrier between Sire and the rest of them – as something appeared above him. ![]() A glowing orb, surrounded by burning runes. It flashed and suddenly – Sire was gone, and so was the orb! [Dali] (There were actually supposed to be five Chocobos, I made a mistake, please disregard) The Chocobo were exceptionally well-trained, and quickly allowed for them to stow their belongings and climb aboard. Even for an inexperienced rider like Vivi, it was a simple matter to climb aboard and be off! Chocobo were fast – exceptionally so. The basic yellow chocobo the group had been lent were slightly faster than a normal horse, and covered terrain exceptionally well. They traversed the hilly landscape around Dali with ease, and soon the town was left far behind them. The chocobo stayed grouped close in their run, allowing the travelers to speak with very few difficulties. “... I have never left Alexandria before, but I have studied maps of the world.” Garnet spoke up after a bit. “There are many tall walls protecting the border with Galdwin. West Gate is our best bet to actually cross, but... I'm sure news of my kidnapping has spread, and it will be closed, and the walls heavily patrolled.” Garnet knew it was a problem. Cid's letters had stated he had a plan for getting them across, but sadly the elder Paladin was... she wondered, just where was he? Had he escaped? Or was he a prisoner? Would another suffer for her sake? What of Cecil, the famed Dark Knight? While many in Nohr saw him as the ultimate traitor, Garnet was now doing the same he had once done... she hoped they both still lived. “If we cannot cross at West Gate...” She frowned. “... scaling the wall would be difficult... and we surely cannot take on the military... we could try to sneak through, but I have heard deception is not something your Order encourages, and the odds are I would be recognized anyway...” Garnet bit her lip. What could they do? [Galdwin] The enormous turtle roared. Though the shadow who had spoken was repelled, the beast did not slow its assault – if anything it had become more vicious, and as Gallic's flames came towards it, the turtle roared and spat out a chilling frost that consumed the flames and sprayed towards Gallic himself! However, as Percival lance hit true, it stabbed into the ice and pierced a hole into the side of the glowing black stone within. The moment the lance cut into it, screams erupted. It was as if a dozen people were whaling in absolute agony, as every manner of terrible pain was inflicted on them. The screams were haunting, echoing above the sounds of battle – and a moment later the stone exploded, and sent out a burst of energy! Foul and corruptible, it would destroy whatever it touched! However, the stone was gone... |

[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle Gardens] Having successfully fended off the numerous vines that were trying to make him the new squeeze victim by cutting the vast majority of them as they zoned in, Hiko managed to once again slip away from certain death and through a small opening in one of the vine clusters that he had devastated. Through the entire fight, he knew full well that he was a target and that he would be sought and targeted for destruction. The beast was well aware of where he was, and Hiko used that and his own evasive abilities as fantastic bait. So, as he made that initial half-circle, he always kept in mind that he wanted, NEEDED to draw attention of vines to himself. Starting at the base of the creature, the rat spirit allowed him to scurry in between the vines with very little resistance, and his blade cut away the ones that made his trail impassable. Sure, the creature regenerated them quickly, but the point was to draw attention, and he had it. And that was where his last few seconds culminated: finally appearing at the front of the creature, right in its way to Shirasagi castle and the still-firing arrows and magic, having drawn a great many of the vines to himself. And then, having drawn so many, he expended all of his built spiritual energy on cutting them away in one fell swoop. And now there was a hole. An opening at the front, where vines still fell away and Hiko sailed through the air after cutting through so many of them, his sword having lost none of its structure or luster despite the acidic properties of the vines, having never stuck within the sticky, acidic sap. So sharp and clean was the edge, so perfect the material it was made of, that one couldn't even imagine it ever faltering, ever breaking. But now, he was empty of almost all of his built spiritual force. Almost. He had time and energy for one more trick, one which he had been setting up ever since he entered the main cluster of vines. One more spirit came to his call, and a faint tracery of something spherical, potent and volatile slammed into him, infusing him as he let the rat's power go for the moment, assuming instantly the traits of a different spiritual entity. Bakugami Yamakujira, the explosive, volatile spirit of the Mountain Boar of the Celestial Zodiac. With the last of the spiritual force Hiko had available, as he closed in on the ground underneath the creature and falling right into the acidic vat created by its sap underneath it, he funneled his ki through the sword, now attuned with the volatile, hostile energies attuned by the Boar, tucked himself into a smaller ball and spun, letting his blade cut in the direction of the boar. And as he did, his sword detonated. Like a bomb going off, almost point-blank with the creature's bark, right at the opening he made in the vines, the ki he forced out of his blade exploded outward like a blast of a cannon, smashing into the bark while the knockback blasted Hiko himself away from the creature at speed. He didn't have time to do anything but tuck himself in and prepare for impact as his body slammed into one of the shoji screen doors at speed, blasting right through it and then hitting a wooden beam and smashing through THAT too, rolling hard across the splintered wood and finally coming to a stop after smacking hard into another wooden wall. |
