Mele's Coach

“Then a good song it is! But Caitlin, you got to join me, okay?” Mele said, grinning. “Everyone else can as well. Except you Liam. You're really good at some things but carrying a tune isn't one of them.”

Smiling, Mele started a simple song, one known by a lot of people, but don't make me come up with one.

Manor

Sage frowned, knowing Joyce didn't have a lot of choices here...

But he would follow her wherever.

Sage got up, looking towards Joyce. “I... guess we should go now?”

Blake frowned slightly, looking towards Samara as he listened to the conversation via his shadows...

Joyce would have to hurt someone... because of their grandmother...

“...We need to talk to grandma...” Blake said.

He moved through the party now, towards Kanna, Rica, and Laila.

“...Rogue wants Joyce to hurt someone for you,” Blake said to Kanna, frowning at his grandmother.

Dali

Zadkiel nodded towards Didymus, then looked towards the mayor for a moment.

“I think you for the aid. There comes a time in every man's life where sometimes they must do what is right, and not just what their country wants,” Zadkiel said to the mayor, then headed over to where the chocobo were.

“I'm okay...” Aiden said to Didymus. “Just... a little shooken up. I'm not much of a fighter... My brother's more of the sword and battle person...”

-Hoshido-

Palace Grounds/Garden

Celeste waved her hand, several false Celeste's appearing, circling around where she was, the flaming sap destroying one of the false images.

Celeste focused again, murmuring softly, then raised her hands and cast another spell.

Beneath the tree, the ground would seem to open, fire and smoke billowing out from it, shooting upwards around the tree!

-Galdwin-

Capitol

Gallic was of two minds about battle... His days in the coliseum, fighting for his life, was the darkest point of his life, before he met Rin...

But part of him... part of him loved the fight, the adrenaline. Pitting oneself against the best the world could offer.

Fire burst around him, leaping into the air as the ground shook, fire coming from his feet and propelling him upwards.

He reached forward, his telekinetic abilities extending outwards, towards the beast, attempting to grapple it with his powers, if only at least to slow it's reactions as the Paladins charged towards it!

[Hoshido]
[Garden]

As flames exploded up from beneath the tree, setting fire to its roots and crawling up its wooden skin, the massive monster roared in pain. As the wood cracked and blistered, thick brown sap oozed out and quickly extinguished the flames beneath it – but this time it did not counter-attack Celeste, its attention instead drawn towards the castle doors.

“Warriors of Hoshido! Do not fear this beast!”

Ryoma had appeared on the battlefield, dressed in his battle armor and holding his blazing white katana in his hand. His exceedingly long hair billowed behind him as he darted forward, zipping like lightning and charging at the beast. His every slash was expertly timed, his glowing katana releasing a wave of electricity each time it cut deep into the monster's wooden flesh.

With another loud road, the tree suddenly unleashed a barrage of vines! Ryoma dodged past them as best as he could, slicing many of them – but there were just too many. It was not the fifth, or even the tenth that got him, but eventually one of the vines wrapped around his ankle and threw him backwards, slamming the young Emperor into the wall!

“I do know the pride of the Empire. I also know the dangers that come with pride.” Tamamo warned quietly, as she watched the battle unfold. “It was my pride that took everything from me, Hiko-san.”

She frowned, as she watched the battle, her countenance growing darker. “This creature... it's made of wood, but it's sap reacts quickly to quash fire, it's most obvious weakness... the bark is too thick for a katana to be much good, and those vines move with such speed and in such large numbers that the speed and agility normally ascribed to Samurai as useless... it's as if someone designed this beast specifically to fight the people of Hoshido, and to counter them...”

[Galdwin]
[Capitol]

Richard's sword struck true, slicing into the leathery leg of the massive turtle and leaving a deep gash that was soon oozing with a thick cerulean blood. His son's slash was not quite as precise, but hit true enough to extend the cut.

Meanwhile, Percival's spear slammed into the monster's neck, puncturing a large hole in the side – and with his expert flying the Paladin was able to break away without losing his lance or his steed, leaving the monster bleeding profusely from its neck.

For one brief moment it seemed as if the tide was turning – but then the blood quickly froze over, both on the monster's leg and its neck – and a moment later that ice vanished, and as it did, there was only the faintest scratch where its wounds had been!

From where she stood and watched, Rin's eyes widened. “... Brilliant... a nigh-indestructibly shell, powerful elemental magic, and a healing factor... it can pull the Paladins into a war of attrition, and no-doubt it will win... this is no coincidence. Someone designed this thing specifically to take the advantage away from the Paladins...”

Her eyes narrowed and her jaw clenched. “... What will they design for Aurelia, I wonder?”

[Nohr]

[Dali]

The shop that Vivi had been thrown into was, thankfully, not on fire. Aside from the large hole in the window where the Black Mage had been thrown in, nothing seemed disturbed... on the outside.

On the inside was another story. Garnet followed Didymus through the door and gasped, covering her mouth when she saw the inside.

There were scorch marks on the floor, as if flames had been shot out, and a blast of ice against one of the walls. A bookshelf was knocked over, and in the middle of the room lay Vivi – unconscious and on his side.

“Vivi!” Garnet rushed across the room, quickly running beside him. She brought up her hands and mumbled something in a language that was hard to make out, and a soft green glow jumped from her fingers to Vivi.

A moment later the boy mumbled and rolled onto his back, his large yellow eyes slowly opening.

“Ugh... w-where... am I?”

[Mele's Coach]

Caitlin frowned a bit, but then just sighed and decided not to argue with Mele. “Oh fine, I'll sing... but I swear if anybody gives me crap about being off key I'm-a kick 'em!”

[Inn]

Sarai listened closely to Sire before looking to the others. Everyone looked...Weary.

"It's a lead. We need to take it" Sarai decided before looking to Sire. "Are you hurt sir? We can heal you if so."

Well she couldn't. But Moira could.

From her spot Chloe didn't look convinced, but she didn't say anything against it.

[Mele's Coach]

At Caitlin's reluctant agreement Rue smiled, leaning slightly against Liam as she closed her eyes yet again and listened to the two sing. It really was a beautiful thing, but something Caitlin had mentioned wasn't very useful in the past. But Rue always protested, after all what better way to get the attention of a handsome gentleman than with a voice like hers?

Not that Caitlin had ever been interested in anything like that....At least not until recently.

Now Rue wondered if Graham had heard her sing before.

The girl hummed along quietly as the coach bounced along the road. This was about as close to calm as the group was going to get.

[Manor]

Joyce nodded stiffly, once again grabbing his arm with one of her hands (saving the other to clutch the envelope) before turning and leaving the room. Once they were through the doorway and the door had closed behind them Joyce let out a breath she didn't realize she was holding and looked around the room.

She needed to have a talk with Kanna.

[...]

“...Rogue wants Joyce to hurt someone for you,”

Kanna jumped a bit, Blake appearing seemingly out of nowhere, his dark haired "friend" still at his side glaring at her with her crimson eyes. The woman quickly recovered and gave a small grown. "How did you know-"

She eyed Samara again.

"Nevermind. Yes, she wants her to get something of hers back from a man who stole it. Whether or no she accepts is up to her-"

"GRANDMOTHER"

Joyce didn't have the element of surprise like Blake, but she looked just as dangerous stalking over to them (despite her gorgeous dress and slightly flustered best friend following). Balled in her fist was in envelope.

"That's why you wanted me to visit?! So I could be saddled with protecting you!?"

"You didn't have to do it" Kanna noted, knowing it was already too late to go back.

"Well of course I have to! I love you! But AUGH!" She looked to Laila "How in the world did you deal with this?!"

At least she was only Kanna's granddaughter. Poor Laila was her actual kid. And Rica's. That had to suck.

Laila heard Joyce's unhappy shout, and saw the annoyance and anger burnt into her face, and she couldn't help but sigh. It was pretty much exactly as bad as she assumed it would be. She just shrugged towards Joyce.

“I don't deal with it, that's why I'm never around.” Laila sighed. “At least mom's sober right now. Or at least sober-ish.”

She looked over to Joyce. “... If you're really going to bother helping Kanna I guess I'm going to have to help you do it.”

Laila wanted to run and stay the hell away from her family, but Joyce was her niece. Her the-same-age niece.

[Mele's Coach]

Graham was still exhausted, the feeling of being without his magic felt draining. It was like having a part of him ripped away and left him hollow... but he sat up, raising an eyebrow and listening as Caitlin joined in the singing. He had only heard her sing once before.

He didn't say a word, but he watched with a smile on his face.

[Inn]

Sire lifted up his shirt a bit, revealing a deep stab wound in his side. It was self-inflicted, but he doubted these rubes could figure that out.

“Please, we need to hurry. I don't want to be here when those guys get back.” Sire shuddered.

Moira could only sighed, and walk over. She wasn't the healer in the family – but she still knew how. A soft golden light erupted from her palm, and she healed Sire.

"Who does she want you to find?" Kanna couldn't help but to ask, even the woman herself not knowing that answer.

Joyce shrugged, holding up the envelope. "Dunno, it's in here- but this is none of your business! You dragged me into it so I have to do it!" the girl looked back to Laila who had offered to help. While she didn't want to drag any of her family into this the girl knew her way around and had way more street smarts than she and Sage combined. She gave a little sigh and nod. "Come on, we're going back to the hotel. Rouge said not to open it here"

Kanna sighed again, making a move to follow but being stopped by Joyce.

"Not you two" she said referring to her grandmother and Rica.

[Inn]

Moira didn't look happy about it but the woman healed the strange panicking man if not for any other reason than they would at least be able to get going.

"Thank you Moira" Sarai said, unaware they were healing the enemy. She looked to Sire. "You're welcome to come with us, we can protect you."

Sarai's niceness was going to be the death of them ALL.

"That's...good to hear, that you're alright, Aiden." Didymus replied to the white-haired girl, still wary about their situation...

He was glad that the building was at least not on fire, and he looked about, attempting to ensure the room did not contain anyone else hurt. Still, when Garnet ran forward, so did he, trying to remain at her side. He was glad to see that it appeared no one else was hurt, but still he prayed, asking to be warned if any partiuclarly great evil manifested...and he still remained at Garnet's side, watching her cast some spell-of this he was sure-in an attempt to heal Vivi. And finally, the odd boy stirred.

"You're...you're in a shop in the village of Dali." he said, in response to his question. "After a rather nasty fight. We need to move as quickly as we can, but...are you all right? Can you move?" he asked.

The monster's wounds gushed forth, and Richard let out a mighty laugh as he saw the effects of his strike-and when his son followed behind, he bellowed out a loud "THAT'S MY BOY!"

Then the wounds froze up, and sealed, showing damage, but much less than what SHOULD be there.

In the air, Percival noticed this as well, shaking his head.

"If it regenerates..." he paused. "Please, Father...we shall need to invoke Thy blessing all the more, perhaps..."

He flew down to surface level, meeting with Richard.

"Sir!" he called. Richard looked to Percival, and appeared visibly irritated.

"This beast is quite resilient!" he cried.

"But still a beast of unholy arts." Percival replied, his own calm nature contrasting with Richard's more...boisterous...one.

"Sir, please...distract it. We...my brothers and I shall ask for a great blessing upon the ground itself." he said.

Richard titled his head, slightly.

"A grand benediction, and a grand exorcism?" he asked.

"While combat also occurs, yes."

"HA-HA-HA! NOW this is becoming a truly EPIC struggle!"

He looked to his son and to Gallic.

"FELLOWS! WE MUST KEEP THE CREATURE DISTRACTED, WHILE THE GOOD BROTHERS PREPARE!" he called out.

"But sir, first..." he said, and his head was bowed for a moment...before his lance, already aglow with a golden light, burst into golden flame!

"Fire from Heaven?!" Richard said, enjoying the sight.

"Touch your blade to mine." Percival said, and as Richard raised his sword to clink with Percival's lance, it too became ablaze with the blessed flame!

"If this is an ice beast of unholy sorceries..." Percival said.

"Praise be, that He grants His blessing so!" Richard declared. "Ride, Elder! We shall ensure this thing remains focused upon us!" he called.

At that, Percival took to the skies again, and would touch down around the courtyard, meeting with any other Paladins, or even sometimes some soldiers, and informing them of what was occurring, occasionally invoking healing on the wounded...in a cross shape around the area where the adamantoise stood...on the borders, many of those that the Elder spoke with were kneeling, praying, as Paladins began to distribute holy water on the ground around them...and Percival rode to the "top" of the formation/cross, nearest the capitol building...

Richard looked to his son, and Gallic. "COME ON, LADS!" he called, as he raised his sword, his son tapping his blade against it and his own blade now becoming ablaze.

"CHARGE! KEEP THIS THING OCCUPIED!" he called, as father and son rode off together again, this time approaching another one of the adamantoise's front legs from opposite sides, attempting to stab into it with blades glowing and ablaze!

Edda approached the woods, frowning as he looked it over.

“...Liam didn't go through the woods,” Edda said after a moment, pulling his sword out and pointing it towards Sire. “Moira, Sarai step away from him!”

Mele's Coach

Mele smiled as Caitlin joined in, weaving his magic into it, everyone in the coach feeling better, more refreshed, finishing up after a few minutes, letting the sound linger or a moment.

“A good song always helps,” Mele said with a smile.

Liam nodded. “I do feel better...”

Manor

Sage frowned at Kanna, going with Joyce as she and Laila left. He was determined to help.

Meanwhile, Blake stayed behind.

Blake frowned at Kanna, shaking his head. “I don't like this... Grandma... you shouldn't do this...”

Blake did not approve.

Dali

Aiden followed Didymus and Garnet as Zadkiel got the chocobo ready, looking around the store.

“...What happened here?” she asked, “Is Vivi alright?”

Gallic focused, taking in a deep breath as he focused.

Fire burnt around him, taking a form of a large bird of prey, then charged towards the tree, the flaming bird going forward as Gallic seemed to pull away from it!

Palace Grounds

Celeste watched as the vines attacked Ryoma, the man getting in close before he too was slammed away...

“Musashi!” Celeste yelled, looking for the Samurai, “Where did you go? I might be able to help you get in close!”

Hiko's chuckle was a light, if a bit wistful and melancholy as Tamamo warned of pride.

"I never said that pride was a great thing to have. Hoshido always had its pride, ever since the lands have been settled... And that pride, while it created a great many things, also prevented the creation of many others. What is important is that despite how good or bad that pride may be for the Empire, it is something they have in great amount. And one must pay careful attention to that pride, if they wish to deal with Hoshido or any of its leaders."

The swordsman continued to watch and let out another snort of amusement as Ryoma jumped out into the fight.

"Aaaaah, Ryoma-san... Never change. Such impetuousness, such youth... It brings me joy to see it, however dangerous it might be for the well-being of the impetuous and young."

When Tamamo remarked about the various attributes of the creature, Hiko shot her a wry little smile.

"... Noticed that, did you? You've got quite the eye for detail, Tamamo-san. Which brings to me the curiosity of a wandering man of action: how would you approach this enemy if you had the resources and options to do so? By your analysis, what would the Empire of Hoshido be best suited to do in this extraordinary attack?"

[Manor]

Rica looked like he wanted to argue with Joyce, but Laila shot him a look cold enough to freeze an ocean and he went quiet and stayed beside Kanna. Laila gave her parents one last glance.

“You two just find something else to do that won't get anyone in more trouble.” Laila said, she started to turn, and then she added: “... and for the love of God, whatever you find to do, make sure it isn't each other. I've got enough siblings.”

Shuddering, Lalia quickly followed Joyce and Sage, moving them away from her parents. “Okay, what's the deal?”

[Inn]

Sire paused, his eyes on Edda as the man examined the path to the woods. The moment Edda started to go for his sword, Sire leaped into action. He snapped his fingers and suddenly his armor appeared around his body, covering nearly all of him except his head in powerful metal. He lunged out and grabbed Moira, who was still crouch beside him and confused as suddenly he threw his arm around her neck and let the pointed claws on the end of his gloves dig slightly into her throat.

“Aww, now why'd you have to go and spoil my fun?” Sire fake-pouted. “Weapons on the ground or I gut this one like a f-king fish!”

Moira, for her part, looked far more annoyed than afraid.

[Dali]

Vivi slowly nodded, and he slowly climbed to his feet. The boy was even quieter than usual, but he had just been through a terrible ordeal. “... I don't remember much... but we should probably go...”

Garnet frowned, looking around the inside of the shop. “Vivi, were you attacked? It seems like you cast some spells in here.”

Vivi shrugged his shoulders. “I... I don't remember. It's like my head is all fuzzy... I think I might have hit it...”

[Mele's Coach]

Caitlin gave a slight smile as she leaned back against the wall of the coach. “I mean... I guess it was pretty okay to sing. But don't expect that all the time. That's Mele's thing, not mine.”

[Hoshido]

[Castle Gardens]

As if on cue, Musashi came rushing over to Celeste' side. He was breathing heavily, and his green ring was glowing brightly on his finger. “I'm around... but this thing just has waaaaay too many tendrils! I can't dodge them all, even with my ring.”

He frowned deeply. The arrows seemed almost useless – aside from Takumi's, but even he could only shoot one at a time. The fire worked, but only briefly – and even Ryoma, perhaps the fastest swordsman alive, wasn't enough.

Tamamo, meanwhile, frowned and bit down on her lip. She doubted that her Onafuda would be enough to do much, unless she could get close... and while the mirror might give her an edge, it wouldn't be enough by itself.

“This creature is magical, although it comes from a twisted and impure magic.” Tamamo explained to Hiko. “Even if it is twisted beyond belief, I still know magic... though magic that has been this potently corrupted scares me.”

She shook her head. “... If I had an answer to that, I would tell Ryoma-sama. It is a tree, so fire is my first instinct, but clearly it was designed to quench the flames with that sap. You could perhaps unleash so much fire that it cannot quench all of the flames... yes, that might work, but a fire that big would be in serious risk of burning down the castle as well. Beyond that the wood is extra hard and resistant to arrows and swords...”

Tamamo frowned. “I... do not know, Hiko-san. The only ideas I can think of that have even a prayer of working would be far too much, and risk too much damage to this place.”

As another of Takumi's glowing arrows ripped a hole in the side of the monster, it let loose an awful roar – and then several of its tendrils shot into the ground beneath its feet. As the tendrils pulsated, they seemed to suck nutrients out of the dirt – and the burns, cracks and breaks on its wooden body from Takumi's arrows and Celeste's spells suddenly began to vanish!

The monster could heal itself.

[Galdwin]

[Capitol]

As the roaring bird of flames attacked the enormous turtle, it roared right back and snapped its jaws viciously – although the beast did not seem to like the fires that Gallic had called forth. It's woes with flames only seemed to increase, as Percival's flames added to its toil.

As the flaming bird assaulted it from above, burning away at the ice protruding from its shell, it's attention immediately went to the massive burst of fire – and so it did not prepare as Richard rode in and stabbed at its leg, and it felt the searing blade dig into its thick hide.

The monster roared out with anger and pain, and then it bellowed out something from its great mouth; a thick, white mist! The frozen miasma quickly began to spread, covering the area around the great beast in a fog that made it almost impossible to see more than a few feet in any direction!

It was quite the conundrum indeed. the creature was massive, which meant that any option of dealing with it at once was too destructive, especially within palace grounds. Fire, while an effective measure, was too easily quenched by the creature's sap, and its size meant that it could keep up quenching flames for longer than flame could be dealt to it with any efficiency. Of course, there was also the problem of flames spreading if the creature was felled, and the palace was stone, wood and paper. What was not stone would go up in flames, and they would have another burning problem to deal with.

And even now, the creature was quickly divesting itself of its wounds by simply quickly healing the damage that had been dealt to it. The arrows, the only effective measure against it until now, were being outstripped by the creature's healing ability.

Swords did nothing. The men of Hoshido, despite their bravery, could do little against it, even if some of them used some of the more esoteric options. Ryoma himself could not easily defeat this creature, and Tamamo was hesitating despite her own abilities.

This was getting out of hand. Perhaps it was indeed time for Hiko to lend his own sword.

"... Tell me, Tamamo-san... A creature of wood depends on sap. Sap is blood for it, the living liquid that flows through us, but it moves much slower. As the creature moves so quickly, it must be using quite a bit of its own nutrition to move so quickly, and sap would need to be in great supply to keep it going. What would happen, I wonder, if instead of trying to warm it up and set it aflame, we froze it instead..."

-------------

Behind the massive creature, Hiko waited for the opportune moment. His image still spoke to Tamamo, an illusion cast by the moonlight and his own gift of kitsune magic, allowing him freedom to move about unnoticed. With Ryoma bruised, the fortitude of this creature causing so many problems and so very few weapons being effective against it, Hiko already knew he would be helping. Having set up the illusion to allow himself some time to prepare, he moved to a place where he wouldn't be easily seen as he gathered ki... And sent out a call.

The rabbit in this case would be a terribly bad move. The rabbit's spirit, while one of great flashing speeds, was also not a hunter, and to display cowardice and hesitation here would be fatal. Unlike the flaming demon heads which posed very little threat or challenge, and much like with the Onryoki, Hiko would need to focus greatly to overpower the rabbit's hesitant spirit with his own will. That could cost him precious moments, and since the current opponent was such a powerful, overwhelming creature and predator, every attack would be a contest of wills, every offense would pull at his willpower and sap his ki. And while the moon would certainly up his speed to unprecedented levels, it would do him little good if he was constantly battling wills with the rabbit to take an offensive.

No, the rabbit would not do here. He needed something... Smarter. Something less afraid than the Moon Rabbit. Something willing to fight, something that fought smart.

And he had something just like that. Something aligned with fire, something that would sharpen his blade so he could cut the creature. Something that fought smart and rewarded diligence and persistence.

Something that could cut.

Tachigami Hi-Nezumi.

The rat spirit of the celestial zodiac was exactly the thing he needed here. A fighter and builder, one that persisted through the greatest of devastation, that spread like wildfire. A pack creature that fought in great many, whose hunger allowed it to aim and devour even the greatest predator. And this one... Was a spirit of blades, whose fur was considered a great gift of the spirits, a little rat wielding a big, straight-edged sword.

It also helped that it was one of the spirits aligned with the element of fire. While that would not allow Hiko to heat his blade or use flames, the minute advantage of having superior elemental affinity would further increase the cutting power of his strikes. And with any luck, perhaps the cuts his blade made would prevent the thing from healing so quickly, slow its recovery. He wasn't betting on that, but every little bit could help.

As Hiko called the spirit of the rat, his built ki dipped to low reserves once more as a small, transparent rat with red fur holding a blade within its mouth phased out of a nearby wall and scurried around his legs. The swordsman leaned down as the rat paused and looked up at him with a critical, soul-searching gaze. Hiko's return gaze, eyes open and unflinching, showed that he was resolved, and that he would be as dedicated to this task as any true child of Hoshido. The rat's critical gaze searched for a few moments more, before the rat nodded in a surprisingly human gesture and jumped, letting go of the blade. The ghostly image of the sword flipped in the air and aligned with the blade at Hiko's side, fading as if merging with it, while the rat itself scurried up Hiko's leg, up the side of his shirt and slipped into the folds of the cloth, disappearing from sight. Hiko's own profile almost visibly shrunk as he took a lower-ground stance and moved, as if scurrying, looking for an opening within the creature's many vines...

This situation was NOT comforting. Vivi being attacked INSIDE here? What if there was some remnant of the monsters they had fought here, or some other monster that would terrorize the town? Praying for sight, Didymus looked about, seeing if he could see/sense lingering monsters or particularly blatant evil...

"Well, you were thrown in here rather violently. It wouldn't surprise me if your head took a rather nasty knock, but the state this place is in..."

He paused, not liking what he was seeing. Namely, that there seemed to be magic cast about inside-implying, as Garnet suspected, a fight in here.

Which meant that, failing to see any subdued attacker, there was still such a fiend here. Leaving would be abandoning these people to take their chances with it.

They had to go quickly, but if such a monster was still around...of course, who said it was a monster?

In fact, that had to be it-if there was some unholy terror that yet lurked here, he couldn't just leave this village to it...but if it was gone...getting Garnet out safely was of great importance...

"Can you move? I...it does appear that there was a struggle of sorts...what would have attacked so quickly, then vanished so quickly, unless perhaps it was obliterated...? Still, we should probably get a move on. Zadkiel is prepping the chocobos as we speak..."

As he said this, though, he looked about, once more asking for sight and guidance, seeing if he could detect if there was a clearly evil force or being still lingering nearby...

...his sword was still out, though as he hadn't sheathed it since the fight, perhaps that was to be expected...

-Capitol-

As the beast roared and began to let out its mist, Richard let out a "BAH!" and all the same, reared his horse about, to take into consideration the situation. Wondering if he should charge in again or not...there were some blessings on his armor that could provide protection, possibly even illumination, in the mist...looking about, he could see Paladins and even simply soldiers surrounding the combat area, spaced periodically so as to outline a cross...they were praying.

At the front of the formation, Percival looked about, then dismounted his horse, removing some more blessed water from a saddlebag. Taking a place at the "top" of the cross outline, he knelt, bowed his head, and closed his eyes. Despite the cannons booming, despite the beast's cries and roars and the imminent danger, there was peace in his expression, peace, but focus, conviction, supplication, humility. He said not a word, but knelt there for a good while, passion and peace and resolve and relief and humbleness all making their ways across his face as he knelt in silent supplication.

Finally, he spoke out loud.

"Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto, and we ask, Lord, in Thy holy name, for consecration and our deliverance from evil. Amen!"

At this, the entire area outlined in their formation-at the center of which stood the adamantoise, briefly flashed white.

"Praise and thanks be to God!" Percival cried. "Consecration is granted! The creature of shadow now stands upon blessed ground!"

Hearing this, Richard bellowed out once again.

"HAHA! YES! Now, let us corral it, and keep it there, and let the cursed creature fade away!" he called.

Percival mounted his horse again, spurring it once more into the air with a beat of its wings of golden glory!

[Manor]

Joyce led Laila, Sage and Blake (and Samara) out of the manor and back onto the streets, taking a deep breath once she was free of the stifling amount of people who were still enjoying the party. She wanted to open up the envelope right at that moment but relented, instead making it back to Kanna's hotel room before she did.

Once the group was inside and alone Joyce plopped down on the couch, sighing and looking at the envelope.

"What if it's someone who doesn't deserve to be hurt?" she mused, mostly to herself. Of course she was aware that over-thinking about the person was not really going to help....She didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Instead she took one more deep breath and then ripped into the envelope and quickly read through it-

About five seconds later all the color drained from her face, the girl clutching the paper so tightly the edge began to rip. She then looked to Sage, gave a little squeak of terror, and proceeded to stuff the paper against her lap, away from the others' view.

This could be a problem.

Sarai stumbled back as Edda called Sire out on his deception, the man suddenly changing- now donning armor and a terrible grin. The man then grabbed Moira by the neck-

Of course Moira looked more pissed than frightened, though it didn't help quell Sarai's own worry.

“Aww, now why'd you have to go and spoil my fun? Weapons on the ground or I gut this one like a f-king fish!”

Sarai slowly dropped her knife, watching the man carefully. From her spot Chloe did the same, placing a bow and a small bunch of arrows by her feet, though Sire wouldn't be aware that Chloe was still quite a force to be reckoned with even without the tools. Despite wanting to help Willow stayed close to her mother.

[Mele's Coach]

From her spot Rue couldn't help but to give a small smile. "You don't give yourself enough credit Caitlin. It really was pretty"

Castle Gardens

“Fire doesn't seem to work... but it is a living plant... Burning a living plant is hard, but... frost. Winter. That can kill a forest...” Celeste said to Musashi. “So... here!”

Celeste focused, her magic swelling, focusing on Musashi now. He'd feel himself gain a burst of speed, like when they fought the spirit, along with a few other spells, including some illusionary Musashi's swirling around him.

“One last spell,” Celeste said, focusing her magic around Musashi's sword, a chill radiating from it, the girl taking a deep breath as she finally stepped back. “If you can strike the tree, it'll deliver a powerful spell to attack with ice...”

She smirked slightly now, “My cold spells are actually a little stronger when I'm a girl, my heat spells as a guy... I'll give ranged support, see what I can do to slow it down while you get close!”

Kanna's Hotel Room

“Who is it?” Sage asked, seeing Joyce's face, worry on it. “If it's someone innocent... we'll figure something out, okay?”

Blake frowned a little, looking at the paper, then over to Samara. A thought crossed his mind that the easiest way to handle this would be just to... take care... of Madame Rouge...

But that wouldn't be the heroic thing to do.

Inn

“So you're a coward, huh?” Edda said, smirking suddenly. He stabbed his sword into the ground, staring at Sire. “Couldn't even handle some kids, so now you resort to this? Let Moira go, if you really want to make things fairer, I'll take you on myself.”

Mele's Coach

“Well it is how my magic manifests,” Mele said, smirking. “But I like it still! Anyways, I think we should be getting to our destination soon...”

Dali

“Is something wrong...?” Aiden wondered, glancing towards Didymus, looking around the store as well. Was Vivi fighting something, or had he just cast spells after being attacked as a kind of reflex...?

Capitol
Gallic grimaced as the miasma spread out now, remaining in the air as fire kept him propelled in the air for now.

He glanced towards the paladins, then took a deep breath.

He shot at the giant turtle again, his fire once again seeming to consume him into the shape of a large predatory bird, Gallic in the center.

But this time he wasn't leaving it...

Kanna's Hotel Room

Joyce stared down at her lap and the crumbled paper for a moment before finally looking back up at the confused and curious group in front of her. Her dark eyes looked to Sage and lingered for a moment. She couldn't just sit here, he needed to know-

Joyce sighed once more, before picking up and handing the crumpled paper to the young man.

She wondered if Sage would be more annoyed that his father was stealing from crime bosses, or that she apparently was now responsible for punishing him for it.

Kanna's Hotel Room

Sage looked at the paper, then sighed.

“Well at least we know it's someone who's bad...” Sage said, rubbing his forehead, and feeling a headache coming on. “Maybe I can talk to him?”

Sage wasn't looking forward to that but if he could convince his father to maybe leave the country, it might work out...
