[Hoshido] [Inner Shrine] “You spoke of Celeste-san and Musashi-san, but no mention of yourself?” The vulpine smirk playing on the swordsman's face could scarcely be any more mischievous. It was as if the man was waiting for someone to be baited, and they didn't just fall for his verbal trap, they snapped it closed themselves. "Fishing for compliments, Tamamo-san? How bold of you. Should I be worried that you hold such interest in my opinion of you?" He was quite obviously teasing, his words grasping at any possible secondary meaning and blowing it way out of proportion. Hiko had learned a long time ago that such tactics in communication often took those he communicated with off their guard, be it relaxing them as simple humor, or perhaps going so far as to embarrass them and open them to further poking. And for the swordsman, this was not just a skill. It was a form of art. With a merry chuckle, the swordsman continued, mirth in his voice. "Worry not, Tamamo-san. I do not hold any questionable motives when it comes to you, nor do I pose any designs upon you. I do know, however, that you are not a person I wish to distance, and that you would certainly be a good friend if you are allow yourself to be one." His mischief-laden smile gave way to a small, genuine one. "If you wish to know my opinion, Tamamo-san... Then you should stop walking the path of eggshells and once more act as you would freely. I cannot give you an honest answer until you truly show yourself as you are. And I dare say that you have done very little of that, aside from the battle we have faced." He shook his head lightly as he motioned to her curled tail. "And I do not refer to your heritage, Tamamo-san. You as a person, you whose pride had been damaged but needs to be regained. You who had lost an incredible eight tails, lost the right to sit among the Celestial Ones, who held the power to match and hold ground before the very Imperial Dragon that sleeps far beneath us, who had taken what you wished and fought for what you believed. Tempered by experiences you may be, it is that Tamamo-san that I look forward to gracing this world in full once more." Edited by HellAvatar, Jan 22 2018, 11:33 AM.

Mele's Coach Rue glanced at Liam's sword with a bit of morbid curiosity as he and Mele spoke back and forth about it's powers. She had seen them first hand with Graham (and was still physically stopping herself from trying to heal his obvious discomfort), but she now wondered just how it worked. "So if I touched your sword I wouldn't be able to heal anymore?" she asked curiously, keeping her distance from the weapon for obvious reasons. Inn Sarai nodded, hopping down from her horse and handing the reigns to Willow. She then moved to collect Moira's horse. "Come on, you can help me water the horses before we start moving again." Willow frowned but gave a nod, knowing her parents were trying to keep something from her, but also knowing it was probably for the best. Edda and Chloe rarely sugarcoated how tough the world could be- if they didn't want her to see something there was probably a reason. [...] Meanwhile Chloe followed Edda and Moira into the inn, the scent of coppery blood instantly filling her nose. Immediately past the door there was a woman slumped over a desk, a giant hole in her back but no weapon to be seen...Only a puddle of water pooling around her frame on the desk. "What the hell happened here...." she said, trying not to breathe in the nauseating scent too much. She the looked over to Moira, instantly concerned. "You sure the kids were here?" [...] Meanwhile outside in the woods around the inn several figures told her keep watch in the area hid, eying the new arrivals.... "Travelers?" One man said, watching as most of the group went inside leaving a woman and a girl outside with the horses. "They're gonna get a nasty surprise in there!" "No....Something's different about them" Jade said "I feel something...." "Should we attack?" Another asked "Go ahead. Worst case you get to murder a kid. Best case I get some more information on that man from before..." Manor The woman which interrupted Sage and Joyce frowned at the boy, inspecting him for a moment before her eyes widened just the slightest. "I was told that you would be visiting my office" she said, now looking back to Joyce. "Told by whom?" she asked, staying polite but obvious a but confused and on edge. Something about this woman was off.... "Your grandmother...My name is Madame Rouge." she then looked to Sage once more. "And you...You're a McCall correct, your resemblance to your father is unmistakable." Joyce frowned, once again tightening her grip. She wondered if this woman knowing Sage's father was a good or bad thing. [...] Samara hesitantly danced with Blake, keeping time by staring at her feet moreso than the boy. She only knew as much about dancing as Blake so the two probably looked cute- perhaps like a young couple on the floor. Of course if anyone tried to even get close to Blake Samara would stab them 32 times with a dagger made of her own shadows- You know. Like a normal girlfriend. [...] “It's not about morality! But come on! You always do these schemes, and all it ever does is make your own family hate you. At some point that's got to get old, right?... Look, they're not like... well, us. Just leave 'em alone.” Kanna frowned at Laila, a bit offended the girl would speak to her this way but also realizing that the girl was concerned about her niece. Despite only being a few years older Laila was protective of both Blake and Joyce. That didn't change Kanna's mind though. "What I need Joyce for is her decision. If she says no I will respect it, but I doubt she will. Same with Blake" she told the girl. |

[Nohr] [Mele's Coach] “You'd be able to heal again, just not for a while.” Graham explained, as his remaining eye flickered over to the sword on Liam's belt. “Cold Iron is a very mysterious thing. Even the greatest scholars don't fully understand what it really is, or how it has such a pronounce effect. It can block out the supernatural entirely. Not just magic, either... it can block all sorts of things.” He shook his head. “It's rare stuff. I've never seen a sword made of it before... but it's a dangerous and powerful weapon... it can render a mage completely helpless.” [Inn] Moira frowned at the sight in this place. She was no stranger to violence, but it was clear whoever had committed these murders was especially deranged. She walked over to the body of the poor woman who ran the inn and leaned closer than she wanted to. Her hand sparked with a golden light and she touched the corpse for a moment, and then she shuddered. “Geez... my divination is still 'off', but... I can sense an intense aura of malice and hatred. Whoever killed this woman was... dangerous.” Moira was starting to get very concerned. In the woods, as Jade and her bandits watched the new arrivals, someone else was watching them. Then all at once he stepped out from among the shadows of the trees. A man in steely armor, with a long green cape dragging behind him, and pointed claws on the end of his gauntlets. “Now hold on, let's not be hasty. Nobody likes to kill a kid more than me, but if we're clever about this we can do so much worse.” Sire smirked. Because of course. [Manor] “Yeah, you're famous for respecting your kid's decisions.” Laila replied in an almost robotic tone. She knew that trying to speak to Kanna was a bad idea – it was like talking to a wall. A really dangerous wall that liked to stab people. “Laila,” Rica stepped over now, deciding it was wise to try to keep this from getting worse. “You really should-” “Oh spare me whatever you have to say,” Laila rolled her eyes. “You're just as bad!” [Dali] As Didymus and Zadkiel came at the Sealion, their blessing shining and their will's steeled – the beast let out an awful roar, and suddenly its body turned into smoke! The smoke rushed at them like water, flowing around them – it never quite touched either of them, shirking away from them both and instead rushing past them. That smoke swept down the road, and came upon Garnet! The sealion suddenly reformed into a solid shape and its massive clawed-wing came down towards her! Garnet gasped – but Vivi jumped forward and from his hands he fired a bolt of lightning at the beast that smashed against it. The Sealion flicked one of its large hands and hit Vivi, knocking the small mage away – he flew through the window of a nearby shop, screaming as he was flung! The Sealion grabbed Garnet, and she struggled and felt panic set in – but then she heard a soft voice. It was warm and wise, and it reminded her a bit of her grandfather. “Child! Hear me! Do not fear!” Suddenly a massive bolt of lightning rained down from the sky, striking the Sealion in its head! The beast roared loudly as it dropped Garnet and fell backwards, smoke rising from its head! The black miasma had fallen away, revealing the blue scales beneath! An old man in dull yellow robes was suddenly standing between Didymus and Zadkiel, leaning on a staff. “Don't just stand there you damn kids, go and strike that foul thing down! You with the fancy wings, burn at the place where the miasma is damaged and melt it away – and you with the sword, drive it into that creature's skull and put an end to this!” [Hoshido] [Inner Shrine] Tamamo stared at Hiko for a moment, quite unsure about this swordsman and his particular way with words. One of her ears twitched slightly, but it was hard to tell if it was from annoyance, or bewilderment. Then she simply laughed, and leaned back. She stopped suddenly, covering her mouth and looking around with a frown. She wasn't quite sure if she should be showing her amusement here of all places. The Dragon Spirit had seemingly left them alone, but it was foolish to believe she couldn't see and hear what happened at her shrine. And Tamamo quite doubted she would be happy to see Tamamo's mirth. She looked over at Hiko and listened to the rest of his words. It was true. She was hardly herself. She hadn't been since the moment they walked into this castle. She sighed, and wondered if she could truly be the old Tamamo again... … should she be? The old Tamamo had some... bad habits. She knew that. “... We'll see.” She said, shaking her head, and then jumping up to her feet. “But... I don't know if this place is the best one for me to think clearly, Hiko-san. Why don't we go for a walk? I think I remember my way around this castle.” [Balcony] “It is very nice to meet you.” Azura gave her best bow, while Musashi just rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, okay. We don't need to do all the fancy introductions. Celeste is my friend, and Azura is my sister, that's good enough!” |

[Hoshido] [Inner Shrine] Hiko happily nodded in assent, standing fluidly to his feet without much of a break between sitting and standing. He allowed himself a small set of stretches to pull his muscles back into place after sitting for a while on un-cushioned ground, and offered one more small bow to the shrine with clasped hands (a small wish of good fortune sent to the spirit of the shrine, as well as a request for blessing for himself and his current companion) before retreating out of the Inner shrine. As he did, the flickering lights of the candles passed over him, throwing strange shadows against the walls, and for a moment, a shadow much more alike a fox with many tails passed along a wall. It was a brief glance, just a trick of the light... Or perhaps something more as well, as no one held secrets from the spirits whose grounds they walked upon... Once in the small alcove between the prayer chamber and the inner shrine, the swordsman took his time to tie the three blades into his obi again. As he did so, he took a small amount of water from a nearby pail and sprinkled it upon the sheathed blades, bestowing a connection to the blades as well, purifying them of any foreign attachment that might have come upon them whilst he was in the shrine. "Lead on, Tamamo-san. I will gladly walk the grounds with you, it is certainly no great or arduous task to hold a conversation with such wizened and gorgeous woman as yourself." |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Nohr- Mele's Coach Liam nodded towards Rue and Graham. “Only a handful of people are suppose to be able to handle it... My dad is one... and I'm another... it doesn't always go in families though.” “But it does mean whoever wields it can't use anything else. When he's wielding it, Liam can't get healed by you, for example... Bit of a double edge sword,” Mele added. Inn Edda frowned, heading up the stairs, finding some more carnage, looking at a couple bodies... He investigated a couple rooms, then came back down. “They were here. They fought, and got out,” Edda said. “They had enough to time to grab their stuff too. I recognized a couple wounds from the cold iron sword...” Edda had used it enough times to be familiar with it. Manor “...I am a McCall, yes,” Sage said carefully, glancing towards Joyce, then back to Madame Rouge. “But I confess my father did not always include me in things, how do you know him?” Blake smiled happily, enjoying dancing with Samara, not knowing her murderous intentions if someone got to close. “See, isn't this fun?” Blake asked. “We should do stuff like this more often!” Dali Zadkiel only hesitated for a moment as the strange man appeared, then focused, flying upwards. “Strike, Brother Didymus!” Zadkiel yelled, striking with his flames, burning away the miasma and giving Didymus his opening to strike! -Hoshido- Balcony “Umm... right,” Celeste said. “Well it's nice to meet you... Azura.” She smiled at the girl, “What was that song you were singing earlier?” |

Nohr When the sealion tried to pass in miasma around them, Didymus whirled around, planting his sword and asking for a blaze of light to strike it...when it reformed, he was already charging at it again when the strange man appeared and lightning struck it! And then said man was tossing orders at he and Zadkiel. Zadkiel threw flames at the beast, and this other man was ordering him to drive his sword "into its skull"-he wasn't sure, perhaps, whether or not he could simply smash its skull open or not-so instead, he ran at the beast, which had been knocked down and was now therefore a bit easier to attack-and ran at its face, attempting to thrust his sword right into one of its eye sockets and as deep up there as he thought he would have to thrust it to get at its brain...if it even had one there. |

-Nohr- Mele's Coach Rue listened, obviously interested in the strange weapon she knew very little about. "Maybe next time that insane lady comes by you can cut her hands, that way she can't control us..." Rue noted, eyes on the steal glinting in the bit of sun that managed to get into the coach. The girl then leaned back in her seat, closing her eyes for a moment. Hopefully there wouldn't be a time where that woman would be back... Rue gave a small sigh as they bounced along, the rest of the group chatting but the girl lost in her thoughts for a moment. She was tired and worried, knowing she was terrifying her mother and father right now. [...] Chloe instantly gave a sigh of relief as Edda came back down announcing the group had been here but they got out in one piece. The woman couldn't help but wonder just what they were doing to have such dangerous people follow them and cause such carnage- but she supposed she would have to ask the kids themselves when they were found. "Any idea who...Or what was after them?" she asked, eyes back on the same puddle of water around the innkeeper's body. She hesitantly dipped her fingers in the liquid, frowning even more now. "It's cold.....Cold water?" [...] Jade looked back at Sire, eyes narrowed as he raised a slightly good point. Despite this it was still annoying. “Now hold on, let's not be hasty. Nobody likes to kill a kid more than me, but if we're clever about this we can do so much worse.” "What do you suggest?" she asked, a slight purr to her voice that both made it sweeter and more deadly. Manor Rouge gave a small shrug, not seeming too outwardly bothered that he didn't recognize her. "We did business together, quite frequently actually. Your father controls quite a few shipping channels that I like to use for....Things." That was purposely cryptic. "You said I was suposed to meet you?" she asked. Rouge nodded. "Though now that I know your companion is Ryan McCall's son, i'd love to speak to him too." Joyce frowned, but looked to Sage. [...] "This is....Fun?" she asked, keeping up but all the while still trying to stay on guard. It was quite a bit of multitasking, but she could do it in order to keep him safe. Suddenly the girl stopped in her tracks, almost causing Blake to trip over her. She whipped around, seemingly looking for something. "Someone bad is here...Someone bad is talking to your sister." [...] “Yeah, you're famous for respecting your kid's decisions.” Kanna couldn't help but to glare at her daughter, about to tell her off when she caught sight of Madame Rouge chatting on the dance floor....Chatting with.... "Oh sh*t" she cursed, grabbing Rica's arm and pointing. |

[Nohr] [Dali] As Zadkiel's flames washed over the Sealion, they struck against the blackened miasma and it burned bright! The beast let out a terrible howl of pain as the flames consumed its body. When Didymus brought his sword to bare into the creature's eye, there was a massive flash of darkness and something sprayed out, thick and purple. The Sealion roared, and the purple mist floated around Didymus, forming into what resembled serpents and snapping their smoky jaws at him as the creature burst into flames and collapsed. The Sealion's skin burned away, and its skeleton dissolve into dust, leaving the Paladin standing in a pile of dark dust. The old man ran his fingers through his beard as he watched. His face was almost unreadable. “Hmm... not bad, not bad at all. Though the fact I had to make an appearance worries me...” He strode forward, leaning on his staff. “Still, she could do a lot worse for Guardians. Now then!” He vanished from where he stood, and reappeared beside Garnet, helping the princess back to her feet. “My dear, I will see you again soon. For now, know this – the eyes of the Three are upon you. All three shall you summon, and if you survive and if you are wise, you may just save that which is precious to you.” “I-I-” Garnet stammered, but the old man was suddenly gone as quickly as he had appeared. [Mele's Coach] “More than that,” Graham warned, looking over to Liam and Mele. “Cold Iron completely blocks the supernatural... so it can act as a sort of beacon. We're in a land teeming with magic, but wherever you go, you'll keep it at bay. That can attract attention.” “Eh, Liam can handle himself. Probably.” Caitlin shrugged. It felt especially weird complimenting him after what had happened earlier. [Inn] Moira frowned deeply. None of this was good, but at least the kids had managed to escape. She concentrated, slowly drawing the intricate symbol in the air once more and allowing her magic to seep out and try to find them... then she paused. “Huh... okay... I think they found a ride. I can just barely sense Rue and Caitlin, but they're moving too fast to be on foot.” Her magic was especially potent at detecting her own family. […] Sire just gave a rather demented smirk, and he snapped his fingers. When he did, his armor changed. On the breastplate, rather than being smooth, it now bore a large intricate symbol – the Nohrian Crest. “Simple Jade. Can't just be coincidence they're out here. I'm guessing those guys are looking for the kids that got away earlier. So I go over, pretend to be with the army. Say I'm investigating what happened here. Offer to help them find the missing kids.” Sire smirked. “So I go along with them. I can learn all about them, and the others. My guess, though? They're all friends, or maybe relatives. And once we have them all together... I pounce. Take a couple of them hostage. You and the boys roll in and we can kill the useless ones and keep the rest for whatever.” [Manor] Rica turned in time to see Rouge talking to Joyce and Sage. He gave a small sigh. “Well, this is going just fantastic. Laila, for now can you just behave? The last thing we need is to make a scene.” Laila glared at him, but ignored him. “Whose the woman talking to Joyce?” [Hoshido] [Balcony] “Oh...” Azura smiled softly a bit. “It's a very old song... from one of the rare periods of peace between Hoshido and Nohr. They say it was written by a great Hoshidian playwrite as a gift for the Nohrian Royal family. Very few remember it today.” [Castle Grounds] Tamamo paused for a moment as she watched Hiko's movements. In the light of the candles, her eyes played tricks on her – or did they? She frowned, wondering if it was just her imagination... or if her companion had secrets of his own. He did have sake from Inari, and his movements and mannerisms had a certain vulpine quality to them... … She stopped that train of thought. It didn't matter. She knew better than anyone why most would keep secrets. It didn't stop her from taking an extra sniff of the air, though. As they walked onto the castle grounds, she admired some of the paintings on the walls. “This place has changed a lot since I was last here...” |

[Hoshido] [Castle Grounds] It was a wonderful night to take a walk, Hiko confirmed to himself as his gliding gait matched the smooth walk of the kitsune woman next to him. The sky was clear, and the autumn wind was rather cool at the moment, though Hiko paid very little attention to the temperature, his haori and the warmed wood of the castle keeping him nice and cozy at the moment. The sky was clear and the moon was out in a magnificent waning crescent, surrounded by a clear night and numerous stars. It was nights like these that he truly loved to live for. These views, the company they brought, the sights and sounds and smells as the clear winds brought along the scents of pine and rain. “This place has changed a lot since I was last here...” "Time wait for no one, Tamamo-san. Generations grow up, grow old, and are replaced by the newer, stronger, quicker, better. And different. We cannot avoid the truth that those that come after us have different tastes from our own, just like our own predilections are different from those of our forebearers. But... That's not a bad thing. We create a world for those that come after us, and it is in the hands of the next generation to adapt to the world that has been made for them." He took a deep breath, letting the fresh air fill his lungs as he continued to step his way down one of the outside paths heading to the palace gardens, so carefully maintained by its caretakers, meticulously kept in a pristine condition just as much as the shrine they left. Letting the clean air fill him, he let it out slowly, sinking into a semi-trance as he let out the breath, purging himself of messy thoughts and unfinished ponderings as he exhaled. "It makes me very glad that Ryoma-san and Musashi-san have both inherited the spirit of youth while retaining the wisdom of their predecessors. Both follow their way with honor. Dark times loom ahead, but I do not worry much. After all, it is the will and potential of the changing generations that had drawn you here in the first place, no?" Nohr -Dali- Didymus kept his gaze and as the sealion's body dissipated and the miasma snakes snapped at him, he planted his sword on the ground, and knelt, light shining forth and speeding along the dissipation of the unholy energies... He rose, reaching into his pouch again, and producing yet another orb of blessed water...sheathing his sword and sprinkling some over the ashes, praying for consecration and for an end to any corruption, he looked to the burning building-he noted that the odd bearded man had helped Garnet to her feat, and he tensed up a bit, but it appeared he was a friend. He said some things regarding, among other things..."Guardians". He thought he may have been familiar with the term...perhaps he would have to look up an old acquaintance...but there was no time to focus on that. He looked to the burning building that Aiden had rushed into (at his behest, no less). "We have to make sure no one is caught in the fire!" he cried, running towards it...readying what small amount of blessed water he had left for possibly helping to beat back the magically-lit flames... "AIDEN!" he called. "Are you in here?! Is anyone else in here?!" he called. "Please, Father, may I not have endangered civilians...and may we all get out of this alright..." he prayed, looking for Aiden or anyone else in the building... |

I can't see what you're imagining
|
-Nohr- Mele's Coach “While it's in it's sheath, it's effects are muted. As long as someone doesn't touch the handle itself, it won't effect others. Taking it from the sheath will make it work in an area around it,” Liam said, looking at the blade. “Someone very skilled with it can make it's effect shrink or grow, or even along a line. I'm not that good with it though, my dad is a lot better. I can sort of make it smaller around me so it won't work on whoever is next to me if they're an ally, but can't extend much further then about five feet away...” Liam sighed softly, placing his hand on the handle idly. “But yah... if we see that woman again, I'll get her with this blade...” Inn “There was some fight... there's blood, wounds. Liam took down a couple with the cold iron sword. And a few others were taken down by other weapons. A knife at least, I think...” He sighed slightly as he listened to Moira, thinking as they headed back outside. “Liam has to be alive. The cold iron sword isn't there and the chances there was someone else who could take it being here are pretty much non existent, so he was able to bring it with him. Which leads me to believe Rue and Caitlin have to be alive, he wouldn't leave them behind, nor they each other... I guess we should just follow that coach then.” Dali “Strange...” Zadkiel said, softly to himself as the old man spoke to Garnet, then made a pained face, his fire dying down, bending down to take a few deep breaths. “I'm getting too old for this...” Inside the building, Aiden appeared, looking a little sooty, but unharmed. “There's no one in here,” Aiden said, shaking her head. “Be careful Didymus, the fire is pretty hot and the smoke is getting worse. We shouldn't spend any more time in this building then we should.” Manor “...Anything you wish to discuss with Joyce, you can discuss with me, and vice versa,” Sage said, clutching Joyce's arm. He wasn't going to let Joyce be alone with this strange woman... Blake stumbled against Samara slightly, looking worried as Samara stopped. “Is she?” Blake wondered, looking around and seeing Joyce and Sage talking with a strange woman. He frowned slightly, looking around, then pulled Samara over to the side, into a corner. “We'll stay here, for now... and...” Blake focused on his shadows, one of them moving carefully through the crowd, stopping by Joyce, Sage, and Madame Rouge, listening and watching them through the shadows... -Hoshido- Balcony “It would be nice if we could all get along...” Celeste sighed. “So we can have more songs like that...” She smiled slightly, then clapped her hands together. “It's very nice to meet you, Azura!” |

GRAPPLING HOOK!

-Nohr- Mele's Coach Rue frowned as they rose alone, eyes still closed as she replied to Liam. "Hopefully we won't see her again at all" she said softly. Inn Sarai gave a small breath of relief as the group walked back out, Edda announcing the girls weren't there. For once she was happy because that meant they were still alive. Of course the relief was also marred by a bit of fear, they still didn't know where exactly they were. "I wonder whose dumb enough to try and chase Liam" Willow mused, finishing watering she and Sarai's horse. She then moved to bring some water to Moira's. "They must have a death-wish" "Maybe they the cold iron?" Chloe asked, looking over to her husband as they got ready to depart once again. [...] Jade listened to Sire's plan, her grin growing a bit as it was fleshed out. When Sire was done explaining she walked over to him, slinking her arms around him. She looked up and smiled "Usually I would call you a moron for not wanting to kill them outright...But that's actually a good plan. Kill who you want in the end, but I want the one with the magic eye...Got it?" Manor "Whose the woman talking to Joyce?” Kanna sighed, knowing Laila wouldn't relent about this. It was easier just to say it. "Her name is Rouge. She's....A business woman" About as much of a business woman as Kanna. "I owed her a favor and Joyce was suposed to be that favor." [...] "Usually you would instantly regret such words young man, but fortunately I know your family....And i'm still interested in you....You may come along" Joyce couldn't help but to gave a small breath of relief, following Rouge as she led the two into her office at the far end of the party. [...] When Blake used his powers Samara wavered a bit. Since she was an embodiment of his powers she was effected when he used them, especially if she was still out. The power it took to both use his shadows and keep her around was amazing, much more than should be expected for a teenage boy. |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Nohr- Mele's Coach “Hopefully we can find a way to disguise your magic eye somehow without making you touch cold iron...” Liam said to Graham, sighing softly. “Hmm...” Mele said, rubbing his chin in thought. “If we knew how, we could probably come up with a counter...” Inn “I don't know... Cold iron isn't that well known, and while it's properties can be useful, if you don't have anyone who can use it...” Edda said, “There was a fourth person with them... If they're after that person... well, you know Liam, Rue, and Caitlin... if there's someone in trouble they would be helping them.” He paused for a moment, looking towards the foliage, frowning, getting a sense someone was out there. Manor Sage walked with Joyce into the office, knowing full well he had no abilities like Joyce, but determined to be there for her anyways. “What... did you wish to discuss?” Sage asked as they entered the office. A small bit of shadow seemed to follow them, remaining hidden... “Stay solid,” Blake said, placing his hands on Samara's shoulders, “I got plenty of power for you and using everything else.” He smiled brightly, glancing around carefully to see if anyone was paying attention to them. |

The Crazy One

[Nohr] [Mele's Coach] “Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible.” Graham frowned, as he sank back into his seat. He sighed. Aside from Caitlin, he didn't know anyone very well... but he thought they were all good people. Caitlin knew them very well, and she clearly trusted them all, so he would too. “... I should probably explained why that woman is after my eye. She's not the first... and probably won't be the last.” He ran his hand along his neck, nervous. “... The truth is, my last name isn't Riggs. It's Davenport. My father was Isaac Davenport from the Mage's College in El Gaia.” He wasn't sure if they would recognize it or not, but the name Davenport was once highly respected in El Gaia. His father had been a skilled and brilliant instructor at the Mage's College, one of the foremost scholars on ancient magic. “... When I was just a kid, my mother fell ill... my father took her all across the continent, looking for someone who could heal her. Every healer he saw failed, and he became desperate, and in his desperation he went looking for an ancient form of magic long hidden away. My sister and I waited for him, watching our mother get worse...” Graham stopped and sighed, closing his eyes. It was clearly hard for him to speak about this. Caitlin watched in silent horror. She'd never heard this story, but she could see the pain on his face. “... Eventually my mother... passed. It was hard for us, but what made it harder was our father never returned. He wasn't the kind of person who would ever willingly abandon us, so we knew something must have happened... when we were old enough, Luna and I studied magic. We set out to find our father.” Graham paused again. “... After a long time, we found where he had gone. An old, dangerous tower that was said to store ancient magical secrets. We... we found our father's body there... the tower was booby trapped, and he...” Another pause, and this time Graham had to struggle to hold back the tears. “... We also found something else... a book, containing ancient magical secrets. We opened the book and... it was like being enveloped in a river. My entire body felt like I was floating and then this... power was in me. Something unlike any magic I'd ever known. The same thing happened to Luna, but...” Now Graham became very quiet. Caitlin eventually touched his arm, and he sighed. “... The tower collapsed. We had to run, and... the bridge to the tower was collapsing. We had to jump into the river below... I hit the water and passed out and when I woke up I was on the shore... it had to be Luna who saved me, but... I haven't seen her again since that day.” “Oh my God... Graham...” Caitlin moved closed to him, putting her arm around the boy in an effort to offer some comfort. Graham nodded. “... Anyway, this magic in my eye... whatever it really is, it's very powerful, and wherever I've gone, people have been after it.” [Inn] “Heeeeeeeeeelllllppp meeeeeeeee!” Suddenly a man in tattered, blood-stained clothing ran out of the foilage, rushing towards the inn and clutching his bleeding arm. Sire collapsed on the ground in front of the group, breathing heavy. “P-Please! You're not with them, I can tell! I need your help! They're gonna kill meeeee!” Moira gasped, but immediately her hand burned with magic. She wasn't the trusting type. [Manor] Laila frowned deeply... immediately misunderstanding the situation. “You're pimping out Joyce!? Ewwww! What the f*ck is wrong with you, mom?” “Not that kind of business.” Rica sighed. [Dali] Morrid suddenly came rushing forward, the old man threw up his hand and a rain cloud appeared above the city, unleashing a downpour! The waters fell on the buildings and soon started to extinguish the flames. Morrid then wavered on his feet, bracing himself on his cane and breathing hard. “Ah... damn... I'm too old for this...” Morrid sighed, wondering how long it had been since he used a spell of that complexity? He looked over at Zadkiel. “You! I don't rightly know who you people are... but I want you out of my city! You're nothing but trouble!” [Hoshido] [Balcony] Azura nodded, still seemingly a bit nervous. “And it is nice to meet you as well, Celeste.” She paused for a moment, sensing the air. “... You are a mage, aren't you? I am as well, although admittedly not a very powerful one.” [Castle Grounds] Tamamo listened to Hiko as he spoke, and she found there was a wisdom in her words that she didn't expect. He spoke with the experience of wisdom, but the kind of wisdom that only comes from experience – experience that she found most humans didn't even come to grasp until they were old. She paused, sniffing the air and staring at the swordsman with the strange smile, her suspicion only further raised... but she was in no position to go demanding answers. “... Actually, what drew me here in the first place was the idea of money and power.” Tamamo admitted quietly. “... I... I will admit that perhaps not all of my motives were noble, in my youth... but...” She sighed. The many, many years of wandering without her tails had given her time to think, but she wasn't quite ready to admit everything, at least not out loud. “Anyway, these dark times you speak of... how bad do you really think they will be?” |

I'll bite your legs off!

Nohr -Dali- Didymus nodded to Aiden. "Good, good...thank you, Aiden!" he said, as he moved to exit the burning building with her. As they emerged, and the mayor appeared, and the blaze was extinguished-he was glad, at least, that it would not spread, but the concept of noncombatants having been endangered by his actions still somewhat weighed on him. He regarded the mayor, and for a moment, thought that he should just take the offer, grab their rented chocobos, and go. But...still, this may have been the best opportunity they had to ask outright, and heck, Garnet may have wanted to know to-he knew that HE did... "...what kind of work do your people DO here?!" he asked, bluntly. These monsters had attacked...well, one of them had hit from below ground! |
