[Inner Shrine]

Tamamo decided not to comment on the Dragon Spirit. She knew her well enough to know that she could probably still hear them – and she doubted that any commentary from her was welcomed. So she simply sat in silence until Hiko handed her the cup, and she took it and stared down at the liquid within, observing her reflection.

“... I can't say I quite feel like drinking.” Tamamo frowned, but she brought the cup to her lips all the same and then shuddered slightly. “... I imagine you have some questions.”

Hiko's vulpine look never left his face as he took a sip from his own cup. The green liquid churned through him as he felt his spirit tremble at the touch of this drink, emotions surging through him all at once as he took a moment to truly center himself before speaking again. Here, in the inner shrine of one of the most powerful spirits of the land, this drink was particularly potent, heady, and empowering. He felt fully revitalized even after just one sip, not to mention the entire cup of the wondrous substance.

When he finally re-centered himself, he cocked his head to the side, not looking directly at Tamamo but also making sure not to look like he was ignoring her.

"... Do I?"

A lot was asked in that question, many queries laden into a single comment. Did he have questions? Oh yes, he always did. But there was more to it than that. After all, it was not him who decided if he deserved to know the answers, despite his curiosities. The history this woman had was a mystery, but he would not be so hypocritical as to demand answers when he had his own secrets to keep.

That Sake... Tamamo had never quite experienced something like it before. It was as if her every memory of this place – the wonderful ones that still burned brightly in the depths of her heart, and the terrible ones that haunted her mind every waking moment – all of them had come rushing back up. She replayed them all in her mind, and they felt more real than when she first experienced them.

It was simultaneously the best – and absolute worst – feeling she could imagine. The joy of love, the horror of loss. The happiest, most intimate moments of her life – and shaking cold on the ground, a dagger in her hand and her tails gone.

She took a deep breath, and struggled not to break out laughing or crying. When Hiko finally spoke, she merely smiled.

She didn't want to talk about any of it; and in truth she didn't owe him any answers. It should have been easy to walk away – but it wasn't. Something made her want to say it all. It had been so long since she had an actual conversation about this.

Upon her head appeared two rather large, fluffy ears – and a similarly fluffy tail protruded from her backside. There was no real use in hiding, not here anyway.

“... A long time ago, I worked here in the imperial court. I served the Emperor Miyamoto Yoshirou. He was young and brash when I knew him, and a very exciting fellow. He liked my cooking, and my magic, and he liked the way I look. So I became his favorite retainer.”

She frowned slightly. “... I couldn't help myself. We became much more than master and retainer... I knew he had a wife, of course, but she was just some silly human and I was a kitsune. Wise and old, I'd earned my tails and my power, and I could take what I wanted.”

Tamamo shrugged. “... Except, she wasn't some human. She was the human incarnation of a Dragon Spirit. She loved the Miyamoto clan, but she was going to turn on them. Renounce her humanity, return to her true form and drive them off this land. Hoshido would have been destroyed because of me... I couldn't allow that. So instead I took the blame, I was shamed and humiliated. Driven from the Empire, I ended up alone in a field... and to atone for all I did...”

She ran her fingers through her tail and sighed. “I had nine of these once. I cut them all away, except for this one. I meant to remove it too, but the pain was too much... maybe if I had, I could have been properly forgiven.”

She fell silent, and then looked to Hiko. “... I haven't ever told that story before. It's a sad one, and I'm not much for tragedy.”

She took another small sip of the sake, and when she calmed down from it, she paused. She sniffed at it and then looked to Hiko.

“... This... you're full of surprises, aren't you? To carry around a wine brewed by Inari?”

Hiko calmly sipped at his own sake as Tamamo suddenly began to spill. It was a potent combination: This drink that evoked so many thing at once within them, the spiritual presence of the shrine and the power it held, and perhaps the recent meeting and current company... He didn't know what to expect, really, and kitsune like her and himself were notoriously secretive and withdrawn. So as the fox lady began to tell a bit of her own story, Hiko did the thing he always did best.

He listened. Attentively, carefully picking it apart, he listened and paid attention, sipping at his own drink and letting his own emotions roller-coaster him through the conversation. His smile vanished as her tale continued as he for once looked as somber as he should for all his years.

"And yet, this tragedy wraps you like a cloak, Tamamo-san. Ages past, and you still retain that cloak, wrapping yourself within it. You have been quiet and withdrawn, and even now your eyes betray the storm that hides within. This sake... Perhaps it was a bit too much to offer, and I apologize if it struck you too harshly."

He finished the last of the liquid in one long drag, inhaled, and then let out another long exhalation, small motes of light flying from his mouth as he did, expelling excess spiritual force that manifested in those same, shimmering lights that the liquid consisted of.

"To sacrifice your tails, so well-earned, for something that still haunts you... While I understand the sentiment, Tamamo-san, I cannot help but wonder if there were perhaps better roads to take. You have earned the place which you have lost, you have earned the power you possessed. It is not my place to say such things, of course, but... It truly must have been horrible, for you to be willing to sacrifice so much, only to receive resentment even now for your actions..."

What he didn't say was that he also thought that her sacrifice was perhaps misplaced, for really nought at all. He didn't know the details of course, but it seemed strange that she sacrificed so much for a fault that was not just her own. More so, he wondered why she did not follow up. If perhaps it was impulsiveness that drove her at the time, and whatever words were said were more powerful than even the actions her sacrifice accomplished...

He suddenly snapped open his eyes, both obviously a vulpine-golden and pupils slightly elongated vertically and both, fully open, now bored into Tamamo's like a pair of drills as though he was attempting to read and scour her soul, catching her gaze and holding it there with his own, piercing stare.

"If I may be so bold to speak? Despite whatever lay in your past, these regrets are behind you, Tamamo-san. That is where they should remain, firmly in the past. Our histories cannot be changed, but the lessons we take away from the experiences we have are with us forever. One should not dwell on what was wrought lest they lose themselves eternally in their regrets..."

His eyes suddenly back to their normal, smiling-closed form, his smile suddenly lit on his face again like a sun peeking from the clouds, just waiting to do some mischief. It was as if the severity, the intensity was never there.

"Like the rice wine in your hand, Tamamo-san. It invokes the greatest feelings and tragedies within us, and it leaves us with the choice to run from them, or to embrace them and understand them. And like the experiences we have, the lessons we learn stay with us, while the feelings that are evoked are transient and pass... It is unwise to drink of wine too much, for one risks a headache like no other once the morning after comes, no?" Suddenly, his voice gained a rather indignant tone. "And who knows what sort of bedfellows you find along the way. Some might even be as impertinent as pet your tail without permission, the fiends."

Rue frowned at Caitlin but nodded and followed her sister and Liam to Mele's coach. Despite all the embarrassment and tension from the hours before she felt hopeful. Perhaps they could actually make it home before that woman found them again.

....Or they could be leading her straight to their home....

That feeling of hope was quickly dashed and she nervously looked down, clenching the bottom hem of her jacket in a bit of a death grip.

[Road]

Instantly Rue nodded at Moira's question / exclamation, looking to her dad. "Yup! I wanted it but they said I wasn't old enough to handle it yet. Something about him being more responsible."

"Maybe we wouldn't think he was more responsible if you didn't keep getting delivered back to us from the back of a policeman's coach" Chloe noted briskly, eying her daughter. "Also the last thing a super strong fourteen year old girl needs is a sword"

"Touche" Willow countered, now eager to change the subject. She looked back to Moira. "So it blocks your powers?" she asked.

[Manor]

“But wealth is fleeting, Kanna. Power is what really matters, that's – oh what the hell?”

Kanna blinked, taken aback by Rica's reaction- until she noticed her daughter standing in front of them, clad in a quite pretty party dress of her own but also wearing a frown that was unmistakably pissed.

“I need to talk to you two.”

Kanna raised a brow, moving back from Rica. "What are you doing here?"

Sage smiled slightly, then shook his head. “I don't think I can do better. You're smart, you're brave, you're inquisitive, you don't let me get away with anything bad... I've known you for a very long time and I'd like to know you for a lot longer...”

Sage was always worried that he was more like his dad then in just looks...

“But... if you really don't think we'd be good like that... I still want to be your friend. If you tell me to shut up about it, never mention it again... I'll do so...” Sage said. He was clearly reluctant, but he didn't want to lose Joyce completely.

Blake frowned a little, looking down at his hands. He had always felt... something in him. Some... surge of power. Talking with his father and two of his sisters, he thought it felt like... the lightning that Galv, Joyce, and Elysia could call upon. But he couldn't shoot lightning...

He looked up as Lalia moved towards Kanna and Rica, then turned back to Samara.

“Momma is Grandmother's daughter too, and she's nice,” Blake said pointedly. “So Lalia can be nice too...”

Road

Edda smirked, nodding to Moira, then glancing towards Willow.

“You can't use that sword anyways,” Edda said, “Not without hurting yourself. The cold iron doesn't work well for most people, especially if they have magic or a power of some kind. You have super strength, trying to use that sword would probably make you weak as a kitten.”

He patted the dragon sword at his side. “But maybe in a few years time I'll be ready to settle down, and I can give you this sword. Or your mother can give you her bow. I can't draw that to save my life but I bet you could.”

Inn

As everyone moved around to the coach, it was large, pulled by four horses which...

Liam frowned, tilting his head. In the early morning light, it was harder to tell, but where it was brighter, the morning rays shining on them, the horses seemed... translucent...

Mele hummed softly as he got the carriage ready, opening the door to let them all in, the inside larger then it really should be.

“Just make sure you keep that sword in it's sheath,” Mele said as Liam looked over the carriage. “Or it'll break the spells I have on this thing and we'll be a bit cramped. Course, might end up with Rue on your lap, so... you know.”

He grinned, then turned towards Graham suddenly, holding out a hand.

“In all the confusion I don't think we've had a proper introduction! Name's Mele Lei, I've known these three for a while myself, our parents are all friends.”

As Mele talked there was an under current of music in the air, soft, his spell to keep the carriage going.

Celeste followed Musashi, listening to him talk about his siblings. She did not have any siblings, an orphan herself.

“Hello there,” Celeste said to Azura, starting to bow, stopping herself partway through, then attempting an curtsy. “Greetings, um... Princess Azura.”

She wasn't entirely sure how to act around this lady yet.

“You have a lovely voice,” Celeste added.

“It means we'll have to actually do some work beyond running off bandits, huh?” Archer said, smirking slightly as he stood up, stretching. He paused, seeing her expression. “Lancelot and Diarmund are hurt? They wouldn't take damage easily, but I'm sure they'll be up and running soon, we have good healers here.”

He glanced outside, then back to the shorter Artoria. “Do you want me to gather the Knights for a meeting?”

Moira frowned. This was going to be more of a challenge than she had originally thought. She rubbed her chin, and then drew with her finger in the air, creating a rather intricate symbol of golden sparks.

“Blocks? Well... not quite.” Moira shook her head. “It's just making it difficult. Cold Iron is a very special thing, it can shut down almost any power. It makes divining their location much trickier, but it's not quite the same as if I was actually around the sword.”

She finished drawing in the air, and then waved her hand in a circular formation. She paused, closing her eyes. “Okay... okay, I think I know which way they went! Come on! This way!”

[Inn]

Caitlin helped Graham into the carriage, and sat beside him as they started off. Graham's eye was still dull and gray, the magic suppressed from earlier when he had touched the sword – which is how he wanted it for now. He couldn't risk Jade tracking his magic – and he knew she wasn't the only one after him.

When Mele looked at him, Graham smiled. “Nice to meet you. I'm Graham Riggs.” He shook Mele's hand, and leaned back against the seat. “Caitlin and I have been traveling together for a while now.”

[Manor]

Laila was grateful that at least Kanna could move away from Rica – though Rica kept his arm around Kanna's waist, entirely too low to be appropriate for a conversation with their daughter. Laila internally shuddered, but knew she couldn't show weakness with these two.

“I was here to have a good time, but no chance of that now.” Laila sighed. “I ran into Blake... I can't believe you're dragging Melanie's kids into... whatever you two are doing.”

She shook her head. “Is it not enough that all of your own children avoid you like the plague, now you have to do that to them too?”

[Hoshido]

[Inner Shrine]

Tamamo sat and listened, her mind still buzzing from this special sake. She shivered and shuddered and tried not to break down more than she already had. After so many years it felt... good, to actually discuss her past. She had mulled it over so many times, and tried to forget it so many times... but it would never truly leave.

“You have no idea,” Tamamo shook her head. “I've never suffered more, and I've never regretted anything more, but... I did what I had to do. I... well, my story is true, but I may not have really highlighted... my own faults. I...”

She shook her head. “I did what I had to, and if I'm never forgiven... that's fine.”

She listened, and she frowned. “On some level I know you're right, but it's not that simple. I can't just forget, I can't just leave it buried. I would love to think something more will come, but...”

She laughed at his words, but simply shrugged.

[Balcony]

Azura frowned lightly at being called 'Princess'; but there was no way for Celeste to know. “It is good to meet you. And thank you.”

Musashi simply shrugged. “Celeste is my new buddy! I made a few friends, in the forest... you should meet Hiko too, I think you'd like him.”

Azura had that sad smile the whole time. Musashi shrugged and sat down.

[Ylisse]

Artoria didn't seem thrilled by Archer's casual attitude. She stared at the white-haired man. Of all those who followed her, she was never sure about Archer. He was simultaneously the greatest asset... and someone who got under her skin in ways only Merlin had ever truly managed before.

But she was grateful for him.

“Yes. We have to discuss things... I just...”

She paused, reaching down and drawing the golden sword at her side. It was glowing faintly – it always did, and she examined it.

“... Archer, what we face may be the greatest threat Camelot has ever known. We must be ready for anything... and we must not be alone. I must meet with the leaders of other nations...”

Didymus hardly noticed the ice around him, so focused on striking the weakpoint he had exposed, until Aiden had sent flame to beat it back!

He knew it felt warm, welcoming, inviting...and he was glad, at the least, that he didn't need to worry about the ice! But as the sealion turned to charge, before he could bring his own sword up...he instead brought his shield up!

"Please, Father, again!" he cried, charging alongside the beast, turned away from him though it was-and he once again slammed his shield up and at the hide of the beast, now at its side rather than its front- side of the beast, prying a scale up (or trying to, at least)-and this time, not hesitating, but thrusting his sword into whatever gap he could make in it!

All he had to do was slow it down, at least, and he could perhaps attack the soft underbelly he had pried open on its front...

It was strange for him to be so... Open, Hiko decided as he continued to talk with the woman, sitting in a comfortable position, one leg bunched underneath him while the other with a knee facing upward, his hand upon it, his other still holding the little sake cup, now empty of its bounty. The drink itself was wondrous, but it was so heady that he usually found himself a lot more open and dare he say 'preachy' whenever it happened. As used as he was to withholding secrets and speaking in riddles, being as direct as he was being was fairly unusual for him.

It was something he depended on as he spoke and thought. Tamamo... She struck him as a fellow soul, but one that made different sacrifices, ones that he was never forced to make. In a way, he saw what he could have possibly become had things been different, he saw the end result of what he could have ended up being if he did indeed try to tie himself to the Imperial Court. Could he have, perhaps, needed to make a similar sacrifice?

What he did understand though was that while she spoke one thing, she certainly cared a great deal about forgiveness for the actions she had taken. She would not have been so indignant before the dragon woman about the sacrifices she had made otherwise.

“On some level I know you're right, but it's not that simple. I can't just forget, I can't just leave it buried. I would love to think something more will come, but...”

"... No one has the right to tell you to forget the actions that have defined who you are today, Tamamo-san. The actions you have taken, the sacrifices you have made, the things you have given up and the things you have taken as your own are the things that define who you are today. But today does not last forever, Tamamo-san. And today is when you define who you are tomorrow."

As he spoke, he remembered the way this lesson was imparted to him, a long long time ago. He remembered the war, his sword biting into flesh and blood without restraint, all in the name of the Empire of Hoshido. Countless lives ruined and lost, endless bodies laid on the battlefield as a direct result of his own lethal action as he continued to walk, cutting down face after face, specter after specter. It had taken him a long time to reconcile the kindness and peace he always wished to retain with the blood and violence he had earned a name with during his earlier years.

"Whichever path you decide to take, Tamamo-san, know that you don't have to take that path alone. You have shown your way and skill during battle, and Musashi-san is doubtlessly quite trusting of you by now, despite the mystery and sadness you cloak yourself in. Perhaps even a bit fond of you, considering his rather interested glances. Celeste-san as well, I would think, since she shares much with you in terms of both secret and skill. Whether you stay a tragic figure, one day dressed in white as you plummet off a stone face into the dark churning waters below, or you surpass that and once more revisit life and wonder with open eyes and unveiled heart is your choice to make. But no pain, no weakness, no curse lasts forever, Tamamo-san. Like the buzz of a good sake, nothing lasts truly forever... Only as long as we let things last..."

Manor

“I don't think I can do better. You're smart, you're brave, you're inquisitive, you don't let me get away with anything bad... I've known you for a very long time and I'd like to know you for a lot longer...”

As Sage spoke Joyce couldn't help but to blush bright red, the young woman forcing herself to continue dancing as she processed her best friend's words.

"I-"

“But... if you really don't think we'd be good like that... I still want to be your friend. If you tell me to shut up about it, never mention it again... I'll do so...”

Joyce blinked, quickly shaking her head. Her hesitation (and disbelief) probably wasn't giving off the best impression. "N-No, it's just-" she looked back down again, now watching their feet before continuing. "You're a good person Sage, a really good person. A-And...I think I might...Well...Maybe like you like that too. But i'm not really that great of a person. I mean you're my best friend, you know me! You know all the dumb things I do and all the mistakes I make!"

[...]

“Momma is Grandmother's daughter too, and she's nice,” Blake said pointedly. “So Lalia can be nice too...”

Samara wanted to say that Blake's mother wasn't good either- but she knew that would only upset the boy. Melanie wanted her gone, and like Kanna, she had the ability to make it happen if she really wanted to-

But Laila was a different kind of bad. She was a product of two very bad people, and thus, scientifically would end up doing something bad.

"Laila's father is a dangerous mage...." she said. "His powers mixed with your grandmother's...Nothing good can come from that."

[...]

Kanna was caught off guard when Laila began to speak, unaware at first (but putting together) that her daughter must have seen Joyce and Blake at the party. The woman groaned, rubbing at her head.

“Is it not enough that all of your own children avoid you like the plague, now you have to do that to them too?”

"You don't understand what's going on" she started "And frankly it's none of your business. I have a business proposition for Joyce and Blake, if they agree with it it's their decision." she then paused, eying the girl "And sense when are you the morality police Laila?"

I imagine Kanna, Rica and Laila have an weird family dynamic.

Road

"Oh sweet! I'd take mom's bow!" Willow started, noticing her mother take a step back

"Oh no you don't. You're only getting that when i'm 10 feet under! Or maybe when i'm old and gray and can't be bothered to fight anymore" she noted.

“Okay... okay, I think I know which way they went! Come on! This way!”

Chloe looked back to Moira and nodded. "We'll continue this discussion later but for now we need to find your brother and the girls...." she said, motioning for Willow to follow- leaving the wreckage of the coach behind.

Inn

Rue climbed into the coach, eyes going to the strange horses much like Liam's. She knew the boy possessed a very interesting form of magic, but she wouldn't lie and say she understood it. As she made her way in she scooted beside Liam- fourtunate not having to climb into his lap 9hest her sister murder her right then and there) but still pressed up rather close to the boy who she sorta just learned returned her feelings.

Hm. Not awkward at all.

To try to distract herself the girl looked at Graham, frowning a bit as she noticed his obvious discomfort. She knew he did what he had to in order to stay undetected but she also was a doctor like her father (or at least wanted to be) and thus wanted to help him.

"Are you sure you're okay?" she asked suddenly "I mean, are you sure I can't at least help with the pain Graham?"

“We could probably get another one of those bows made...” Edda mused to himself, then followed along, ducking into the growth by the side of the road every now and then to check something.

“They did follow the river and get out,” Edda said after one of the diversions to the river. “They're going to same way as the road here. There's an inn not too far, isn't there? Think they stopped there?”

Edda knew Liam would have been fine roughing it, but if he was with Rue and Caitlin, he might have been overruled, and whoever that other person they were with was also a wild card, but Edda assumed they were friendly.

“No one's perfect, you know,” Sage said. “But you're the closest I've seen. Besides... you've seen my dad, it's not like I don't have a lot of mistakes too... I might... make one... now...”

He hesitated for a moment, then leaned down, not caring who might be watching, and kissed Joyce.

Blake looked carefully at Samara, then smiled.

“Sometimes you gotta trust people... Even if they come from someplace different, or dark, doesn't mean they're a bad person. Like you! You come from the shadows, but you're a good person,” Blake said, then held out his hands. “Why don't we dance too? I bet it'll be fun!”

Mele's Coach

Liam felt Rue beside him, and stifled down the urge to put his arm around her, knowing that Caitlin would probably kick him if he did.

“Nice to meet yah Graham. And have yah? She hasn't driven you crazy yet, huh?” Mele said, grinning as he nodded towards Caitlin. “And yah, if you're hurt, Rue here is an incredible healer, if you haven't heard already. Healing magic was never something I could get the hang of. Soothe people, but no real healing.”

As Didymus attacked the one beast, attempting to dissuade it from attacking Zadkiel, he returned his focus on the Waltz, focusing as his fire burned around him.

He raised his sword and slashed it downwards, sending a vortex of fire down around the being!

“Of course,” Archer said, nodding towards Artoria. “I can see about getting messages. Do you think the other leaders would agree to meet here, or did you have another location in mind?”

Balcony

Celeste noticed the frown, looking to Azura then back to Musashi.

“Did... I say something wrong?” she asked.

GRAPPLING HOOK!

Manor

“No one's perfect, you know,” Sage said. “But you're the closest I've seen. Besides... you've seen my dad, it's not like I don't have a lot of mistakes too... I might... make one... now...”

Joyce looked back up from her feet, now stopping her slight sway in their dance in order to give her full attention to the young man. Just as she did Sage's lips brushed hers and instantly she closed her eyes and returned the gesture. For the moment she didn't pay any attention to anything but her best friend and his lips on hers-

Fortunately Kanna was a bit preoccupied with Laila....But that didn't mean the two weren't being watched. A woman appeared next to the to clearing her throat causing Joyce's brown eyes to snap open, clutching Sage's arm tightly as she turned to the unfamiluar woman watching them.

The woman, the harsh looking lady with sharp features and short black hair eyed the two. "You are Joyce aren't you?" she asked, in a very thick accent.

Joyce's grip tightened on Sage a bit but she nodded. "Uh....Y-Yes I am."

[...]

Samara wasn't 100% sure she believed Blake's words but gave a nod. She wouldn't fight. Not with him.

“Why don't we dance too? I bet it'll be fun!”

"Dance.......Alright. If you wish..." she said, carefuly taking his hand. She wondered if she knew how to dance....She would if Blake did.

Road

"It's worth a try...." Sarai said, hopeful that the group may have found refuge in a safe spot. She moved back to her horse, pulling herself up. Willow rushed over.

"Oh, can I ride with you Aunt Sarai? Horseback is way cooler than by coach!"

Sarai blinked, but gave a nod. The woman was used to being so careful and a bit boring- having Willow take interest in what she was doing was unexpected. "Have your parents taught you to ride?"

From her spot Chloe nodded. "She's not bad, told her we'd get her a horse if we ever decide to settle down"

Willow grinned, heaving herself onto the tall creature, taking a seat behind Sarai. With her strength the motion was nothing at all and her light weight made the change barely noticeable to Sarai's mount.

The Crazy One

[Manor]

Laila opened her mouth to protest, but stopped. She didn't like to admit just how much she took after her parents, but she could count a dozen terrible decisions she'd made in the last week. Not that she would ever admit to that in front of these two.

“It's not about morality! But come on! You always do these schemes, and all it ever does is make your own family hate you. At some point that's got to get old, right?” Laila frowned, shaking her head. “... Look, they're not like... well, us. Just leave 'em alone.”

[Road]

“The Inn...” Moira frowned, trying to sense things. It would be easy to divine their exact location if not for that sword... “Ah! Yes, I think they did stop at the inn. Come on! We should hurry.”

[Mele's Coach]

Caitlin sat across from Liam and Rue, frowning at Liam the whole time. She wasn't actually against the two of them being... something... but she still felt compelled to give Liam a hard time. She wasn't entirely sure why, either. It just felt right to irk him about this whole thing.

Graham, meanwhile, smiled over to Rue and shook his head. “I'll be okay, really. It's just... been a very long time since I was without that magic. I've had it for a few years now, and this is the first time I've been completely cut off from it. It's a very strange feeling...”

He didn't like it. Not at all, and he was surprised by how much it hurt... but he wasn't sure he should let Rue heal him. What if it brought the magic back? Then Jade would sense them...

[Dali]

The flames shot up around the Waltz, and it felt heat consuming its small and fragile body. The Waltz, realizing the situation it was in, let loose with a string of strange words, speaking in a language that none there knew – but as it spoke, a cold, terrible chill would run down the hearts of all who could hear it.

It was like an icy hand gripping their hearts and squeezing gently.

Then the Waltz rang its bell, one last time – and its body exploded forth, the tattering clothing falling to the ground as a rush of strange, pulsating black miasma sprang forth and slammed into the Sealion!

Although Didymus had nearly pried away the piece of its underbelly, the moment the miasma touched the Sealion the beast let out a horrible roar and fell backwards. It shook and shivered, and then its body became pitch black.

The massive Sealion raised one of its bony wings, now coated in a thick miasma. Zadkiel and Didymus would both be able to sense the change in the creature – but precisely what it was, was hard to determine.

[Ylisse]

[Camelot]

Artoria thought about it. She couldn't think of another place where a meeting could happen, but she was hesitant to invite them all here. Still, she couldn't be indecisive now.

“Camelot can serve as a meeting place.” Artoria shook her head. “If they will come... but they must. Send word we have engaged the creatures of the March. It has begun, time is against us.”

[Hoshido]

[Balcony]

“Oh, no! It is fine.” Azura shook her head, biting her lip. “I just... you do not need to treat me as a Princes-”

Musashi just frowned, and sighed. “Takumi's been his usual bright sunshiny self, I take it?”

He clenched his fist. “Azura, I've told you a thousand times not to let him get to you! You ARE a Princess of Hoshido, that's what father said, and that's what Ryoma says.”

“I... yes, I know, you're right.” Azura frowned.

Musashi sighed, and sat down. Then he looked over to Celeste. “... Azura was born a Nohrian Princess... but my grandfather, uh... brought her here.”

Kidnapped, Musashi. The word you're looking for is kidnapped.

[Inner Shrine]

Tamamo sat and pondered Hiko's words, as her eyes slowly wandered the shrine. It was hard to think about tomorrow when sitting in a place that so defined her yesterday. The Empire of Hoshido had been her home once, and it felt like an odd place for a new start.

“... You know, it's strange, because I believe you, and I agree with you. In fact if our roles were reversed I might offer you the same advice.” Tamamo shook her head, her ears drooping down a bit. “... but I just don't know...”

She paused. He was right about one thing. Celeste and Musashi seemed to trust her, and she was intrigued by them – although learning Musashi was the grandson of the man she'd once loved was... odd. She dismissed that thought for a moment, and then turned to him.

“You spoke of Celeste-san and Musashi-san, but no mention of yourself?”

-Dali-

Didymus had attempted to thrust his sword into the sealion, but the Black Waltz had done some...unholy thing...he muttered a prayer as he felt its unholy miasma, or whatever it was doing, attempting to reach out and attack them, but when the sealion was knocked back, he turned to face it-eyeing the patch of flesh he had exposed on its front "chest" area earlier. Blackened though its body was, he was still eyeing that as a weak spot...it appeared that his foe had received something of a dark "powerup"...still, the building was burning...

"PLEASE!" he called out to the rest of the party. "Aiden, Zadkiel! Please, investigate the burning house, recuse any survivors!"

He wasn't completely sure where their fire abilities came from-if they were indeed a blessing from God or not. He was fully willing to admit that his hesitation may well have been simply paranoia (and indeed, what Aiden had done DID seem to suggest that...), but either way, he figured that if they had a resistance to or way with flames...they may be the best ones for the job.

As for him, he turned to face the sealion again. He looked at his sword, blazing with light and with what Aiden had just directed/invoked its way...and he knelt on the ground, planting the sword point-first into the ground, before he brought forth an orb of blessed water, undoing the lid, he whispered a simple "Da pacem, Domine..." before pouring the contents onto his shield and even some onto himself-and even a bit onto his sword, though not too much...

He then arose from this slow, deliberate action, faced the sealion, and fixed his gaze on the blackened-but-still-visible hole in its scales on the front...and charged once again, aiming to drive his sword into it! If he had to try tanking another blow of its wing...well, hopefully any extra blessing invoked would shield him, he thought!

Manor

Sage felt a surge of joy as Joyce kissed him back, then a surge of annoyance as they were interrupted.

“Can... we help you?” Sage asked.

Blake took Samara unto the dance floor, moving around quite easily. Blake did know how to dance, and he was use to moving through crowds without bumping into people.

“Isn't this fun?” Blake smiled, enjoying himself.

Inn

Soon they would all arrive at the inn, Edda hopping off the coach and heading inside quickly. It was only a few moments later that Edda returned, frowning.

“There was a fight in there... Moira, can you come with me inside?” Edda asked, then glanced towards Chloe. “You too Chloe. Sarai, can you stay out here with Willow?”

He didn't want Willow inside there.

Mele's Coach

“Oh, you handled that sword Liam's got?” Mele said, making a pained face. “I touched it once to see, and... that hurt...”

Liam sighed a little, “It can't hurt that much...”

“You don't have any magic,” Mele pointed out. “Or powers, so it doesn't hurt you.”

Dali

Aiden hesitated, then ran to the burning building to check for survivors.

Zadkiel meanwhile held up his sword, his own fire dancing around him, focusing, feeling the evil from the beast.

“Brother Didymus, you will not stand alone against this beast,” Zadkiel said. “Neither of us will...”

Fire seemed to burst from his back, forming flaming wings from his armor, holding his sword and shield aloft.

-Ylisse-

Camelot

Archer nodded, getting up and stretching.

“They might come here,” Archer said. “I'll see about getting messages to the right people. I'll let Lucy handle gathering your Knights for a meeting here.”

Archer seemed to vanish now, disappearing as he headed off to do what he needed to do.

Shirigasi Castle: Balcony

“I... see...” Celeste said, deciding it was better not to ask more questions. “Well, I can call you whatever you'd like me to. I'm Celeste by the way.”
