[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle – Throne Room] Takumi seemed extremely annoyed by Hiko's chiding, and equally frustrated with Ryoma's reluctance to march off to war. The hot-headed prince could only scoff, crossing his arms and falling silent as he let the others speak. Musashi too had become unusually quiet, though for other reasons. He had no idea who the Maniwa were, but they sounded like bad news, and that look on Hiko's face... even in the midst of battle, Hiko had not looked so perturbed. This was truly bad news. “The long history between Hoshido and Nohr is built on spilled blood, and while I will not hesitate if it comes to that, I would rather see peace during my reign.” Ryoma spoke, frowning. “If the Maniwa are working with Nohr, or some other force, the first matter is to find out the truth. If we must fight, let us know we are fighting the correct foe, and for the correct reason.” When Hiko brought up the object from the Haraku-Sen mines, Ryoma looked uncomfortable – and Yukimura interrupted. “Apologies, Ryoma-sama, but I must speak! You! Swordsman... how is it you know so much of the Haraku-Sen mine incident, anyway?” Yukimura demanded. “That object... you have knowledge of things that most do not- should not.” [Ylisse] Artoria was caught by surprise, bringing up her unseen sword to block the first snake – but as the hidden second snake head appeared and struck at her, she gasped and did not have time to react – but another did. Lancelot threw himself forward, massive spear in hand as he stabbed at the snake – but its jaws clamped down on his armor. He gasped in pain, as he stabbed at the beast! [Nohr] [Manor] Rica was silent as he walked into the manor, sticking close to Kanna – but from behind his dark glasses he scanned the room. He reached out, sensing for magic, and also trying to find anyone who looked important, or rich. [Inn] “Mele...” Caitlin was grateful to see a familiar face, but she was worried. Jade and her minions still had them outnumbered, and Jade's particularly nasty brand of blood-bending made it very difficult for them to do anything against her. They would have to do something to escape... [Dali] Morrid could only shrug a bit. “Oh, yes, the adults are quite busy preparing for the harvest... it's an important thing, and it takes up a lot of manpower, you know.” It seemed like a strange answer, and Morrid didn't look completely comfortable, but thankfully the topic of conversation changed when Didymus hurried to catch up with them. Morrid paused, and then he simply shrugged. “Oh don't worry about that, young man. Chocobo are very intelligent creatures. They can always find their way home... at any rate, you're welcome to lend a hand as well, if you'd like.” Garnet simply watched from a distance, not wanting to do too much, or interact too much with the villagers. She doubted anyone would recognize her... but it was still a concern. “This is a fascinating village, do you not agree, Vivi?” Garnet paused, when she did not get an answer. She frowned, and realized Vivi was no longer behind her. “Ah, where did he go?” She looked around a bit, spotting a nearby shop, and quickly hurried off in search of Vivi... |

Nohr -Dali- Didymus' mind remained predictably wary about this town, and the mayor's explanation of how the adults were busy preparing for "the harvest" did NOT really help to soothe it. A harvest preparation? At this time of night? ...his face stoned for a moment as he realized this was not the FIRST time he had heard talk of preparations for a "harvest" under the moonlight and under suspicious circumstances while on-mission. Still, this wasn't the time to get caught up in memories...though it only, if anything, raised further red flags for him. He knew that he could be a tad, perhaps, overly suspicious sometimes, but...this was raising far too many red flags for it all to be off...still, he heard that the chocobos would be able to find their way home, and that relieved him. "Thank you very much, that's good to hear...I was worried we'd have to double back or only be gone for a bit, and again, we are planning a one-way trip..." he said. "And I would be happy to help, but..." He looked back, thinking it was best, with that cleared up, that he ensured they all stuck together. And Vivi, it seemed, was nowhere to be found...and Garnet was running into a shop! "Excuse me." he said, quickly, and ran back after her! He couldn't allow Garnet to wander off...he was concerned for all of their group, but Garnet was, perhaps, the focus...and with that in mind, he followed after her! The Holy Land Elder Godfrey and his contingent of Templars sat upon their horses, having crested a dune overlooking a valley. It was not an empty valley. Filling it was a large mass of creatures-reanimated skeletons, twisted, hideous beasts touched by supernatural corruption, and in the center of the formation, larger, winged creatures, gazing with baleful intent at the Templars atop the duneside. The mass of monsters marching through the valley outnumbered the Templar contingent greatly. It was clear what this meant-and the world must be warned. Still, as the Templars beheld their foes, neither man nor mount sought to flee. The world would be warned, yes, but first safeguarded from this particular portion of the threat that was amassing. Godfrey dismounted, and knelt. For a moment he was quiet, his head bowed...and then he rose, remounted, and faced his foe. "Gloria Deo! Da pacem Domine!" he called. "Gloria Deo! Da pacem Domine!" the other Templars called. Godfrey reached back, and drew a lance, and seeing this, the other Templars in the front ranks did likewise...and as each man said a silent prayer, the lances each began to glow with a golden light... Godfrey dipped his lance, and the others did to, almost as one spurring their horses into a gallop. The thundering of hooves and the clamping of feet and claw and even the flapping of wings could be heard as the two forces rushed at each other, and Godfrey cried out again in supplication, causing an even more brilliant light to shine from his weapons, from which the first rank of monsters shrank back, as the Templar charge plowed into it, lances skewering and/or oblitering many of their targets upon impact, ranks of sword-wielding Templars mopping up what was left in their wake as their formation charged. Shrieks and cries and thuds and smashes could be heard as the Templars broke through line after line of their foes, cutting a bloody swath though the mass of malicious monsters...Godfrey saw in the center of them, the largest of the winged creatures, seemingly around which the rest of the the monsters had gathered. Cries of "Begone in His name!" could be heard, exorcism joining with battle as the Templars rode and cut into the thick of their foes... ...and so it was that the Templars committed to battle against the vanguard of the coming Black March. |

[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle - Throne Room] Hiko's grave expression cleared up just a little as he gave Yukimura a small, secretive-looking smile. "A question worth answering, Yukimura-san, and one I will gladly answer for you. I was in the area at the time of the event. While the Haraku-Sen Mines are well guarded and were even more so when the object in question was found, the nearby farming village of Fuzuzan does not have large imperial presence, and is mostly left on its own. I was passing through Fuzuzan at the time, and was simply taking a look into the scenery and continuing my wanderings when I stumbled upon the mine and the moment when the imperial detachment went in to facilitate the recovery of the object." He pointed at the scrap of metal cloth that was in Yukimura's hand. "It is at that point when I have recovered that. I was drawn to the presence of another person in the area, since I had nothing to do with the imperial forces at the time and the mine was certainly no business of mine, and found a man in dark shinobi garb skulking about. I did not attempt to engage him, but he quickly realized he was being followed, detected me and proceeded to vent his displeasure at being discovered in a rather hostile fashion. I have attempted to teach him a lesson in manners, but he unfortunately slipped away, though he left behind a token of his esteem for me: that cloth in your hand. It was only afterward that I realized that perhaps whatever he was attempting to do was already achieved. Shortly thereafter, I heard a distant rumble and returned to the entrance of the Haraku-Sen Mines to see the entrance collapsed and only a few survivors hastily making their way away from the exit, clustered tightly and protecting their center as only those who carried something of incredible value do. I followed them for some time, attempting to remain unseen, only to once more be beset upon by the dark shinobi, only to once more force him to retreat. I did not see him again, since by then those who were carrying the object from the mine entered open territory and were quickly snapped up by an imperial patrol nearby." Turning his attention back to Ryoma, he hesitantly continued the thoughts that were primed in his head. "... Unfortunately, weaseling out their means might be difficult, if not impossible at this time. If their base of operation is within Nohr, the recent upheavals would prevent all visits and searches from Hoshido, unless it is to be a clandestine operation. Even if they are based elsewhere, we cannot know if the Maniwa have activated in full, or if this is just a single figure that was acting on their own, though I find that very unlikely. Lastly, Galdwin is also carefully watching both Nohr and Hoshido. While unlikely to offer their aid either way, they might take a side in the conflict simply to put a stop to conflict, which would put them at direct odds with the aggressor. "There is... Another reason why I am cautious of this. The shinobi, who I am almost certain is one of the Maniwa, was there for a mission immediately after some object was discovered and was to be retrieved by the capital. Their presence there was no coincidence, and no one in the village had heard or seen anything that would make them think there were strange shinobi nearby beforehand. The ninja knew what was being recovered and when it was happening, capitalizing on that information to either retrieve the object themselves or prevent their retrieval entirely. While there are many different ways to find that information, the most obvious is the most concerning: there might be someone here in the capital colluding with the Maniwa, or with whomever the Maniwa are colluding with." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ [The Holy Land] The valley was filled with cries of war, passion and death. Men and women stood ground against an undead scourge that poure on in waves, crashing against the ranks of the Templar just as the wall of the Templar crashed right back against the tide. Skeletons, monsters of various kinds and even a demonic figure were spotted among the ranks of the dark, the side opposing them shining in polished steel and holy light of exorcism. It is to this view that a figure watched from a distance, sitting on a far outcropping of stone overlooking the valley and calmly sipping a cup of tea as the figure lazily flipped pages in a book that it was reading. Completely unperturbed by the distant sounds of battle, agony and victory alike, the figure simply continued to read, every once in a while taking a sip from the cup it was holding, and infrequently turning a page of the book. Finally, he simply flipped to the very end of the tome, pulled forth a quill and a small bottle of ink, and then began to record something, very carefully drawing something within the book. "... Like this? Huh, doesn't seem like it. But it's close. Maybe..." With a wave of the figure's hand, power passed over the page of the book, removing the ink he wrote in just a moment ago, as the man drew another figure, similar to the previous drawing but with small changed. "This then? Hm. Maybe... If only this cluster didn't explode upon contact with anything more volatile than a gust of air, it would work..." So muttering to himself, the figure once more erased the drawing, and once more drew another, a sphere within a triangle within a square, drawing some symbols around the edges. "Now this would do. Now, if only the original maker of this formula wasn't such an idiot and destroyed everything pertaining to their research, I might have been a lot farther right now..." He waited until the ink dried a little, blowing on the wet page to facilitate quicker removal of liquid, before kicking back against the stone, the book placed beside him and forgotten for the moment. He gazed upon the battle happening far below them. "It has begun, huh..." A sudden voice of irritation filled the air, seemingly coming out of nowhere to berate him. "This is the fifth time you're saying that sentence within the past half an hour, you smug bastard. We KNOW it has begun, this is what you were looking forward to, blah blah blah. Get a new writer for your lines, they're getting stale." The man chuckled, completely unperturbed by the pointed comment. "Hey, don't hold that against me. Or do, but softly, I'm fragile." He paused, before letting out a snort, perfectly in stereo with the female voice. "Nonetheless, things are about to pick up, you know. For how long we have waited for this moment, and now that it is here, I am suddenly hesitant." "Getting cold feet are you?" "Not really. Not cold feet, no. But now that the wait is over, and the future is so uncertain, I find myself so full of nervous energy that I simply wish to just get ON with everything. For the battles to commence, for the events of great history to transpire, to finally PARTICIPATE." The female voice didn't answer immediately, and when it did, it was very softly. "I know what you mean. Has the plan changed then?" With a shake of his head, the man answered quickly. "Oh, no, not at all. We shall play our part in this mess and perhaps break as many chains as we can find and break along the way. This... The start of The March is a green light for us, Azie. What do you think?" The answer was filled with mirth and amusement at his question. "What do I think? I think you might need a change of pants if you keep this up, darling. I can feel your enthusiasm, so... Why are you sitting here then instead of finally mixing it up?" A chuckle answered her, the man taking another sip from the cup. "And miss out on a good cup of tea? Surely you jest. But more than that..." He looked down at the battle. "This is not our fight. This, right here, is a defining moment for the coming conflict. This will be either the first victory or the first defeat, and it is for champions to participate in. And you know that I am no champion, Azie. Let the Templar have their day of glory, let them be the ones to stand on that battlefield. I will not pose them neither aid or obstacle." His gaze narrowed. "... And more importantly, Azie... This battle will decide which side we shall be supporting." A snort of disbelief was his answer as the woman's voice spoke teasingly. "You're quite the heartless opportunist, darling." The man nodded. "In some ways, yes. But more importantly, remember what I am, Azie, what we are doing here. This battle is the first choice to be made, the first rise of individual conviction. I want to see it in its purest form before committing to my own plot. I already told you, let them have this moment. I want to see what sort of willpower the Templar shall put behind the choice they made, unimpeded by the influence of disorder." "You're just lazy." The man chuckled. "That too. Wouldn't you be too, Azie?" His answer was a soft yawn, and he could almost feel something drape over his back, like an ethereal body simply draping over him. "Then let me sleep." "Rest well, Azie." Silence followed, a comfortable warmth settling over the man as he gazed down into the valley of war, still drinking his tea sip by sip... Edited by HellAvatar, Dec 8 2017, 07:37 AM.

[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle – Throne Room] Ryoma, Yukimura and Musashi all listened intently to Hiko's description. Yukimura frowned, clearly uneasy that Hiko knew so much, but grateful that this swordsman at least appeared to be on their side. Ryoma was stone-faced, his mind racing as he considered all the possibilities. “... You have my thanks for what you did that day. Had that Shinobi stolen it before the imperial patrol arrived...” Ryoma shook his head, and then once more he spoke to someone who was apparently not in the room. “Kagero! Go and fetch the stone.” “Ryoma-sama!” Yukimaru protested, but Ryoma shook his head immediately and the adviser went quiet. Ryoma then turned his attention to the larger problem, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. “If the Maniwa are operating from Nohr, then we have a real problem. Any attempt to locate them runs the risk of provoking Nohr if we are discovered... and even if we found their base of operations, we couldn't mobilize a sufficient force to eliminate them without being detected by Nohr, and that would be seen as an invasion.” War with Nohr was something Ryoma was striving to avoid, although he knew that may be a pipe dream. Even without the Maniwa, Nohr had become much darker in recent years, and he feared he may not have a choice in whether or not conflict happened. “And you are correct, Galdwin watches us. Though I doubt they would ever side with Nohr in a conflict, given their own tensions, they have little reason to aid us, as well. A full-blown war between Hoshido and Nohr could easily spill beyond our borders, and they may act to try to prevent that.” At the news that the Maniwa could have someone inside Hoshido's capital, Ryoma's face darkened. It was a very serious accusation, and he didn't like to think anyone from his inner circle was capable of such a thing – but he could not deny the evidence made it a possibility. “... If there are elements within Hoshido colluding with the Maniwa, then we must find that out. Immediately...” It was around then that a woman appeared in a small puff of smoke. She was tall and determined, and clearly a shinobi. “Milord,” Kagero presented something to Ryoma, and he then held it up for all to see. ![]() “This is the object recovered from the Haraku-Sen Mines. It is a Dragonstone – one of few left in this world. To most people in the world, it is little more than a beautiful gem... but in the right hands, such a stone could be an extremely dangerous weapon.” Ryoma explained. [Nohr] [Dali] As Didymus turned and ran off, Morrid stopped for a moment and watched him, and then slowly continued on with Zadkiel. He seemed a lot quieter now, as he led Zadkiel towards the barn. “So, where did you say you all were from?” Morrid asked, making conversation. Inside the shop, Garnet frowned deeply as she looked around and saw no sign of Vivi. She couldn't think of anywhere else that he might have wandered off too... she called out for him, but there was no answer. The shop itself seemed vacant as well. “Something is wrong..” |

[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle] "Galdwin does not need to ally itself with Nohr to oppose you and your actions, Ryoma-san. Their kingdom is one that prefers stability, and conflict on their border might invite great reprisal." Then, the object was brought out and some things finally clicked into place for Hiko. So it was a Dragon Stone. The swordsman watched as the shiny jewel was unveiled, and almost nodded to himself in amused confirmation that it really was something incredibly valuable. However, this opened up a few more avenues of questions, as well as a possible issue to discuss. Looking upon the stone with an unreadable expression, the swordsman addressed Ryoma. "... I see. So it was something like this after all. I now understand why this stone might have been the aim of the Maniwa, and I would advise to hide it, Ryoma-san. Hide it or keep it under such constant watch that it is always guarded by several people at the very least. If someone IS colluding with the Maniwa here in the capital, then unless you guard that stone well, you might find it vanished one day." He looked back at Ryoma, his smile shifting into a somewhat deprecating one. "And I think you know how that stone could be used to cause some serious harm, particularly here in the capital. "This also sheds some light on what the Maniwa might be after. If they knew what this was and knew what they were looking for, perhaps their plots lie with such stones..." He paused, again choosing his words carefully before asking a hesitant question. "Is there a reason why you have decided to unearth this gem instead of leaving it deep within the mines, in the earth in which it was born?" Edited by HellAvatar, Dec 8 2017, 03:50 PM.

[Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle] Ryoma looked down at the stone, and sighed. It sparkled with a strange light that seemed to eminate from the stone itself. “I have heard stories of what these stones are capable of.” Ryoma confirmed, his eyes locked on the mysterious gem in his palm. “Though no one has used one since before I was born. Such items are rare, and suitable user are rarer still.” He frowned slightly. “I cannot believe the Maniwa would be able to use one of these, but if they could it is too great a danger to ignore.” When Hiko asked his question, Ryoma shook his head. “I strive to avoid any conflict with Nohr, but with every report my spies bring me increasingly troubling news. I have no desire to wage a war, but that choice may not be mine, and if such a day comes to pass... I do not intend to lose.” Musashi stared at the stone. He had never seen it in person before, and as he stared at it he felt a cold shiver run through him. He didn't quite know what it was, but he could feel it was dangerous – perhaps moreso than anything he had ever set his eyes on before. “What is it, Ryoma?” Musashi asked. Ryoma frowned, and covered it with the cloth it had been wrapped in. “Nevermind that, Musashi. If the time comes I will explain it to you, but not before.” |

[Hoshido] Hiko shook his head, looking directly at Ryoma. "The danger of the stones is obvious when paired with those who have the bloodline, Ryoma-san. I am speaking of the dangers these stones can be to you when in the hands of those WITHOUT the bloodline." He hoped that the young ruler knew what he was talking about, and hoped he would not have to voice it out loud. He knew the walls had ears, and it was quite possible that someone was even now listening in on their conversation. As such, despite the fact that he revealed quite a few details, he also knew that some details should perhaps stay only among those who knew of them. |

Nohr -Dali- Garnet calling out for Vivi helped Didymus with finding her quickly, and in a moment he was at her side. "I agree; something is VERY wrong. All the more reason not to wander off..." he said. "...let us step back outside and reunite with the others as quickly as we can, please..." Of course, this didn't address the fact that Vivi was missing. Part of him thought that was good riddance, still suspecting that Vivi was some manner of double agent or even unaware plant against them. Part of him just wanted to leave him and continue on fast as they could, for the good of the mission. But you are a Paladin. You cannot simply sacrifice compassion and honor in the name of "practicality". If there is a chance that he was simply another soul in need of rescuing...than you must take him. Though what shall become of him even if he comes along is admittedly uncertain... "Please, come along...though...did you see Vivi wander off? Is there a direction he went in? Did you notice him leaving anywhere? I...admit, something is greatly amiss here...but if we search for Vivi, we must do it TOGETHER. That's the best way to prevent further confusion...let's regroup with the others and attempt to find him as one group..." The Holy Land The battle continued to rage, the Templars pressing forward, each man unwavering in the face of their foes. There seemed to be, about many, a focused serenity, as if each was untouched by fear, even, for lack of a better term, serene, despite also being focused, disciplined, and zealous in the midst of battle-in this regard they continued to force and exorcise their way through the ranks of the horde, which had closed behind them as they broke through its lines-the Templar contingent was no encircled but despite this pressed on. Near the top of the valley, as the two observers looked on, they could have seen something else-another contingent, similarly sized to the one that had already engaged. "Elder Baldwin." one of them said to their captain. "Look." Baldwin gazed where his attention was being directed, and thought he could see...two figures. Watching. Waiting. "Something seems...amiss..." he said, as he gazed upon them. "Should we pursue them?" the other asked. "No, no. We have a battle to join. And if some devilry is being planned by these observers, there can, perhaps, be not better way to face it than in the same location, the same place, every blessing the Lord grants us together to face whatever may happen. Either way, Elder Godfrey has already engaged the enemy-so too must we!" He called for the formation to halt for a moment, dismounted and knelt in silent prayer for a moment, before arising and remounting. Sure enough, as the rest of the formation advanced, their swords and lances began to glow, and they finally crested the top of the hill leading into the valley. "FORWARD BROTHERS!" Baldwin called, and the formation charged down the hill-at a 90 degree angle, roughly, from where Godfrey's contingent had engaged! A few moments later, and a third contingent appeared on the opposite side of the valley, weapons aglow and lances dipped, and charged! The Templar flanking maneuvers closed in on the horde, which clumsily attempted to reorganize to meet the new challenges, as both contingents impacted on opposite sides of the horde, tearing into their ranks and themselves cutting and exorcising more bloody swathes into their foes, resolutely, zealously, despite a seeming serenity and focus to their movements... ...as the horde began to waver, Elder Godfrey was closing in on its center, and the winged figure in its center was turning to face him... |

[Galdwin] [The Castle] “I seem to be interrupting something; but I cannot ask forgiveness, my errand is too great.” At the end of the hall, an old man appeared. Dressed in dark red robes, with a long billowing green cape. He wore a single pauldrons on his left shoulder, and a black breastplate. On his belt was a massive sword, a bright red jewel gleaming from its hilt. The man was old, his hair as white as the fur on his breastplate – and a deep scar ran down the middle of his face. Just one glance at this man told the story of one who had endured much in life. “Your highness, I come on an errand of the utmost importance.” Elder Owen spoke calmly, his tone respectful but unmistakably firm. “I know my timing is most unfortunate, but know that I would not be here if I was not convinced it was necessary.” [Hoshido] [Shirasagi Castle] Ryoma nodded. He knew well what the stones were capable of. If a mage got their hands on a Dragonstone, it could be used as a catalyst for magic, making the mage far stronger... and with Hoshido's primary enemy a land of mages, it was a grave concern for the young Emperor. “... We will insure the stone is well-guarded. I don't know how many Dragonstones still exist in this world – we will take precaution to keep this one safe, and out of the wrong hands.” Ryoma slipped the stone into his robes, keeping it in the inner pocket near his heart. He would not allow it to be taken. “... Clearly there is much to do, but for now, you are my guests. Yukimaru will prepare quarters for you to rest in, and a meal to recover your strength. I will convene my council and we will discuss our next course of action.” Yukimaru didn't seem particularly happy, but he bowed to the Emperor. “Very well, come with me, I will take you to our guest chambers.” However, as Yukimaru started to take the others down the hall, Ryoma walked up beside Hiko and spoke very quietly. "How much do you know about the bloodline? I think we should speak privately." [Nohr] [Dali] Garnet frowned, looking to Didymus. She shook her head, clearly a bit frazzled. “He was right beside me... at least I thought he was. Now he's disappeared, I thought perhaps he came into the shop, but...” She shook her head, looking around for a moment before turning her full attention back to Didymus. “We must find him! I... Sir Didymus, I suspect that Vivi... he's been a victim of whatever is happening in my land. His appearance, and where we found him... it cannot be coincidence. I cannot abandon him...” Suddenly there was a loud crack! Garnet gasped and her head snapped around. “That sounded like it came from beneath us... and...” She paused, focusing. Her eyes closed for a moment and when she opened them again there was a slight ethereal shine. “... I can sense... magic! Black magic! Coming from beneath us... this shop must have a basement, or a hidden room, help me look!” [The Great Desert] [Golden Oasis] Beyond the Hold Land, beyond the borders of Ylisse and Nohr, far to the south lies the Great Desert. The ruins of a once prosperous nation devoured by a previous March. Nothing grows there, and it is said none live there... … and yet in the middle of the hellish desert sits a palace of glimmering gold; a sparkling oasis in the desert and a den of depravity – a monument built to the glory and pleasure of one exceptionally unusual man. Beyond the golden statues and pillars, inside one of the magnificent buildings sits a den of pleasures that would envy most. A room filled with the smoke of pipes, with several large silken cushions. A large lion sat in the corner, chained up as a decoration. Several beautiful women danced – what they lacked in clothing they made up for in enthusiasm. Wine flowed like a river, and in the middle of the room upon a gilded throne an eternally bored soul sat and sipped his favorite beverage. He wore raiment of crimson and purple, and was covered in bands and necklaces of gold, with glimmering golden earrings. Upon his throne was a cushion of white, which he sank into as he sipped his goblet. At his side was a second figure, this one wearing a billowing white robe with long, green hair that fell down to their feet. “... You are unhappy.” The green-haired person noted. “Nonsense! I have every pleasure imaginable at my disposal. Richness beyond any who have ever existed, an army of servants, my harem, and my most precious treasure...” The man with the golden hair scoffed, dismissing the notion, and yet his face remained utterly unchanged. “Your Greatness! I come with urgent news!” A soldier ran into the room, rushing past a group of dancing girls and towards the man on the cushioned throne. As he ran, chains suddenly appeared from the ground, shooting up and binding the soldier, lifting him off the ground and constricting him so he could not move. “You would interrupt my comfort?” The man on the throne roared. “Unacceptable.” “Oh Great King! Please!” The soldier gasped, as the chains dug into his flesh. Despite the man's cries of anguish, no one else in the room seemed to acknowledge him. The entertainers continued to dance, the revelers continued to drink, and the King on his cushion throne simply stared. Despite it all, the soldier continued. “I bring... news... from the Seers! They say a great battle is unfolding in the north! They say the same darkness that brought ruin to our land so long ago is returned to the world!” The King on the cushion did not seem impressed. He waved his hand and the chains tightened around the soldier, and now he was bleeding. “... and why would I care?” “The Seers... they say... it is the end of all things! The death of the world!” The soldier struggled and cried. Suddenly the chains vanished, and the soldier fell to the ground – broken, but alive. The King on his cushion throne began to laugh. “Fool! Have I given this world permission to end? No! Then it shall not end!” The green-haired being beside the King gently touched his arm, and spoke quietly. “... Perhaps it would be fun to go and see, anyway? It has been so long since you've traveled north. And surely you would not want the March to break all of your precious possessions?” The King sat, and he pondered his companion's words. Were it anyone but Enkidu, he would have killed them for the gall to tell him what to do... but the more he thought about it, the more he realized it could be fun. An army of darkness marching upon the world? The struggling, pathetic souls who fought against it? Perhaps there would even be heroes emerge in this time of struggle. Perhaps, somewhere out there, was someone worthy of his notice. “... Very well,” The King stood and there was a great golden flash, and his former raiment disappeared, and in their place he now wore a suit of armor that shone with gold. “I shall give the world the great honor of seeing me in all my brilliance and majesty!” He slowly walked towards the entrance of his palace, the green-haired being following behind dutifully. [Hoshido] The swordsman gave a bow of gratitude as Ryoma announced the group as guests, thankful for the hospitality. However, he wasn't under any delusion that the questioning would stop here. He knew that he revealed a little more than would normally be acceptable in the situation, and his revelations showed that he held a bit too much knowledge about things that should have been secret, or at least not part of the common mill. The very fact that he wasn't yet held at sword-point once more showed exactly how much difference there was between the new age and the ages long gone. So when Ryoma quietly called Hiko to the side, the blonde wanderer was expecting it. He gave Ryoma a small nod and followed the young ruler, though he kept his senses about him. There was no need to endanger himself right now by being lax in his defenses, and if Ryoma was going to perhaps use arms and militant strength to enforce his compliance, Hiko didn't want to be off guard. |

Nohr -Dali- Didymus listened to Garnet speak about Vivi having been right next to her, and nodded. "It is most strange that he would disappear like that, but what made you think he came into this shop? In any case, if he was just right next to you, but just slipped off without you noticing..." His started thinking of all the negative things that could mean, but for the moment focused on the matter right before him, hearing her speak about. "...I...I don't know, Lady Garnet. I've...had my questions and even doubts about whether or not we can trust him, but...if indeed he's simply a battered soul in need of help...then...despite my wariness, I agree, we must find him. Still, we could probably best do that once we were all together-if we let ourselves continue to get spread out, confusion and possibly further disappearances will come of it." When there was a loud crack, Didymus looked about, his hand flying to the hilt of his sword. As Garnet tried to focus, he prayed silently, asking again, for sight, or at any rate, that his sight would be strengthened, that he could see the truth of the situation, or if there was any particularly, blatantly evil corruption around... "I will help you look." he said, briefly. "But we must return to the others quickly-if we find something we should investigate all together." He knew that if Vivi was in danger, then seconds could make all the difference-but their group remaining even more split in an attempt to rescue him-if indeed he was in danger-may only spread any present danger and confusion further...as he prayed for sight and guidance, he began to look around...though make sure he did not turn his back on Garnet-she wasn't going to just disappear if he had anything to say about it. Galdwin -Capitol- Richard stopped, and the eyes of he, his son, and his wife all rested upon Owen. Richard was not unfamiliar with the man, though for a number of reasons he was more familiar with (and even closer to, as they'd known each other since they were younger) Percival when it came to Paladins in the Order's Galdwinian Chapter. It was true, Owen's countenance and even mannerisms were, often, not the most approachable, and Richard knew there were some who would take offense at how he appeared and introduced himself. The Lionheart was not such a man-part of him actually enjoyed the frank, direct manner that Owen spoke with-it sometimes made for a refreshing change from most of his interactions. He stood, regarding the stern-faced Paladin, and spoke. "Elder Owen, good evening. Yes, your timing could be better, but if the matter is as urgent as you say, I prefer it being brought to my attention sooner rather than later. Tell me, what is it, and have you also informed Elder Percival?" The Holy Land The three columns of Templars had charged into and broken through the ranks of the horde, and as it wavered, the large winged figure in the center turned to face Elder Godfrey, who had finally broken through it its bodyguards-smaller winged creatures that were still quite bulky. All the same, the golden-glowing lance the Templar elder held before him smashed into one, tearing into it and banishing it in a blaze of light. The second one raised its fiery spear to strike the Elder, but with a cry of prayer and exorcism, the Elder's shield glowed with another bright light, and as it faded quickly as it came, not a trace of the demonic creature remained. The larger one, taller on its feet than Godfrey was on horseback, raised its own blade-a sword ablaze with a fire that seemed to dim and darken light rather than cast it, at least as tall as a man, and its feathered yet raven-black wings spread out, the unholy presence throwing its entire weight into an attempt to smash man and mount alike! Godfrey brought his shield up, and with another cry of invocation, the cross on his shield lighting up, a golden-white barrier appearing at the moment of the unholy sword's impact, causing the demon to reel back-directly into the path of Godfrey's lance. It let out an otherworldly wail as the blessed weapon pierced through the front of its form and out the other. "The Lord rebuke you!" Godfrey shouted. "And in His name, begone!" With another flash of light, the demon melted away, and the already-wavering horde broke at the defeat of its commander. Undead fell apart, the enchantments reanimating them being broken, demons not already exorcised attempted to flee, monsters lost their bloodlust and instead felt fear and fled as well, and with the odd exception of a particularly strong undead, or demon, or monster, the horde routed. And the Templars gave chase. The Order's elite were now engaged in mop-up-but even so, they remained focused, even Godfrey turning to the nearest or strongest demon for the purpose of battle and exorcism... |

[Hoshido] [Ryoma's Chambers] Ryoma led Hiko to an area beside the Imperial throne room – his own private chambers. They were far humbler than one may have expected for the acting Emperor. The one luxury he seemed to have was a very large bed with impressively fluffy pillows. Beyond that the only décor in the room was a tall bonsai in the corner, and several racks that held swords. Once they entered the room, Ryoma had his back to Hiko – and a moment later both Saizo and Kagero had appeared, each standing on either side of the door behind Hiko. Neither of the ninja said a word, they only watched – their devotion to protecting their Emperor clear on their eyes. Ryoma slowly turned to Hiko. “It seems clear to me that you're knowledgeable of things that very few should ever know. Secrets even some of my own siblings aren't privy to. So I will ask you just once to explain how that is possible.” Ryoma was calm, but firm. [Galdwin] [Castle] Owen, now satisfied that the King would hear him out, wasted no time in explaining. He was rarely one for pleasantries, instead usually always focused on whatever task was at hand. “I have only just returned to the capitol, and came straight to you. I shall inform the other Elders soon, but this... I believed it could not wait.” Owen shook his head, and decided to start at the beginning. “A week ago I was passing through one of the smaller farming towns near our borders. Whilst there I learned of a young woman who has repeatedly sought out the local soldiers garrisoned nearby, and requested an audience with you. She claimed to have been given a divine vision, a warning of things to come.” It was here that Owen paused for a moment. “The soldiers asked if I would speak to her. This farm town was very small, and it has been quite a while since a Paladin had passed by the area. I agreed, and spoke to the young woman... and my liege, after having spent a day speaking to her, I believe wholeheartedly that what she says is true.” [Nohr] [Dali] Garnet bit her lip. She didn't think they had time to wait – whatever was happening, WHEREVER it was – it seemed like magic had been used, and that crack could have been the snapping of some weapon, or the blasting of some spell. Still, she knew that Didymus had more experience in situations like this than she did, and she did not want to leave the others if there was danger about. “Very well, but we must hurry.” Garnet hurried back out into the streets, looking about for Aiden – but then her eyes fell on someone else, on the far side of the street, sitting beside a fence post. “V-Vivi?” Garnet gasped, and she quickly dashed down the street to where she spotted him. The tiny mage in the steeple hat was sitting beside a fence post, absently kicking his feet. When Garent rushed up, Vivi jumped to his feet. “Um... h-hi, is something wrong?” |

[Hoshido] [Ryoma's Chambers] Hiko didn't seem to react whatsoever to the reception he received when he was split from the rest of the group. In fact, it was with a sense of amusement that he calmly acknowledged the two men that have taken the Emperor's sides. It was a show of force, a bit of a threat and a symbol of protection. "... I am glad that you, of the many of your line, inspire such devotion and caring response from those you employ. It is a wonderful trait, Ryoma-san." The chamber he walked into was one that vastly differed from what it once looked like, and was for once completely unfamiliar territory to the fox swordsman. It wasn't garish either, something that Hiko noted was a fantastic sign of humility and restraint from the current emperor, and more built for personal comfort. The atmosphere was usually warm and welcoming, and only Ryoma's questioning gaze and the intent stare of his two current guards soured the comfort that this chamber usually offered. "You are asking about the things that I know, Ryoma-san? Now what things specifically would you like me do explain, hmm? I know many things, Emperor of Hoshido... I would not presume to talk your ear off with inconsequential drivel, so I shall answer the specific questions that you ask. But make no mistake, Ryoma-san. Your lineage is rich, but not full of pitfalls, and there have been rulers that were cruel and ruthlessly destructive in your line. I cannot know which you are by simply seeing you and hearing rumors of your rule, for I am but a simple wandering swordsman and pay little attention to the words spread by he common man, and as such I will not surrender all of the knowledge I possess. Even you must know the power of secrets, and what happens if a secret too important to illuminate is unveiled." |

[Hoshido] [Ryoma's Chambers] Kagero kept her eyes locked on Hiko, wary of this unknown factor. She was the more trusting of Ryoma's retainers, but even then that was not saying much. Her utmost goal was always the protection of the Emperor, and even with Musashi's vouching for him, Hiko seemed... unusual. He was a wild card, and she didn't like that. Saizo on the other hand was ten times worse. If he had his way, Hiko would be strapped to a wall undergoing an intense interrogation – as would that mage, Celeste. Saizo trusted three people in the world, and he doubted that number would ever go up. Yet it was Ryoma whose opinion mattered. A benefit of the throne. So he listened to Hiko, and he kept his expression firm, but not aggressive. It was unusual for someone to speak so bluntly to him, but there was nothing hostile in Hiko's words. “You seem very familiar with my family, and with my bloodline. Some of that is natural, my family has ruled in Hoshido for many years, and much is known widely about us... however, I believe you know exactly why I wished to speak to you privately.” Ryoma was direct. “You seem well familiar with the Dragonstone, and what it means specifically to my bloodline. For one who claims to be but a humble wandering swordsman, you know royal secrets that even my siblings do not know. I know the value of secrets, and would normally not demand a man reveal how he learned them... but in this case, it is seemingly impossible for you to know what you what, and that concerns me.” |

[Hoshido] "Ah, yes, the Dragonstones. Curious creations of nature, they are, stones that are imbued with so much natural magic that they close in on the natural density of a dragon's potential." Hiko sighed, somewhat disappointed at the moment. In retrospect, perhaps it was a bit harsh of him to expect so much of such a young emperor, but Hiko was expecting a little more courtesy, even in the face of such important secrets. But this solidified one thing in his mind for sure: Ryoma was no political manipulator and was a straightforward sort. A refreshing change from Hiko's own previous experienced, but right now he was somewhat saddened that he missed the days long gone. "I am no expert on what the Dragonstones are capable of within the hands of the imperial lineage, Ryoma-san. I am aware of the possibilities and have heard many a tale of history, where the emperors have become great and terrifying avatars of power to defend their home or to obtain victory. I have never personally experienced these possible functions, but my adventures have taken me far and wide and I am aware of some of the brief possibilities open to the imperial line." His right eye cracked open, watching Ryoma intently. "I am, however, more knowledgeable in what a Dragonstone is capable of outside of the imperial lineage, simply because I have had the honor of holding one in my own hands, as well as the opportunity to study what it could do. Similarly, I have seen what a skilled Mystic or Magi was capable of doing with such a stone." |
