[Nohr] [Small Inn] “Look you crazy harpy, nobody's going with you! Just get the heck outta here or you're going down!” Jade looks from Graham to Caitlin, her mind going a mile a minute in order to execute her plan as quickly and decisively as possible. Jade was not just deadly, but also quite smart- she had to be to get where she was in the world. From the way the young woman was speaking up and by her overall body language Jade could assume she could assume she was close to the man. Perhaps romantically involved....She wanted to protect him. Her boldness also suggested confidence, perhaps as if she had her own ability....Good. Considering how much the loudmouthed young woman looked like the other girl in the room, she could assume they were sisters. Which meant they were obviously close considering their clothes were still sitting around the room as if they shared the space to rest. And considering the younger girl was hiding and looked quite fearful she assumed she had no powers- or at least no confidence. There was also the young man standing in front of her, holding his ground despite his injuries. A glint came to her eyes and Jade grinned. She knew what she needed to do to be most effective. A moment later Jade raised her hand and moved her eyes to Rue, twisting her wrist in a sudden movement. Instead of controlling water this time the girl gave a pained yelp, and Jade watched with glee as she twisted the girl's painfully around in the most unnatural position she could think of. From her spot Rue felt like she was a puppet, her arm contorting painfully despite her own control. She gave another cry, unsure just what this woman was doing to her. Jade looked back at Caitlin. Then at Graham. He'd save his lover's little sister. It was what good men did afterall. |

-Nohr- Mountain Side “There could be any number of reasons... but without sign of pursuit, I believe we should press on,” Zadkiel said, eying the sky as well, the fire around him leaving, no longer crackling. “Maybe he thought we were only going to go in a little and then leave, to throw off pursuit?” Aiden suggested. City Streets “I'm sure we'll see Liam again before too long... But he wanted to go explore the world on his own, find his own adventure. When you're a little older, if you want to do that too, you can,” Edda said to Willow, smiling towards her. “Though I think Liam was intending to see if Rue could travel with him...” He smirked at that. Kanna's Apartment “I have a suit in my belongings,” Sage said, indicating his bag, still frowning. Blake smiled towards Samara. “Well... a dress! We've seen fancy dresses before, something like that!” Small Inn With the cold iron sword in Liam's hand, Rue's magic would be unable to heal him, but he still stood his ground as Jade appeared... Then Rue gasped, this pink eyed woman doing... something... Magic? Something else? “Everything requires concentration, remember that Liam. We don't have anything fancy like magic, so the best defense against someone who does have some special ability is to keep them reacting, don't give them time to prepare anything.” the advice Edda had given his son one day while teaching him how to fight. Liam let out a yell, suddenly charging straight at Jade, bringing his sword around for a killing blow! -Yslisse- Roads “Strange beings of shadows, yet also of flames... A green, unworldly fire,” Diarmund told Lancelot, “They could change shape, meld and break apart... Fought as if of one mind...” -Hoshido- Tokohotsu Shrine “That was... weird. Is it over now though?” Celeste asked, getting up and swaying slightly, feeling exhausted from the use of her power twice so quickly, even with the boost gotten earlier. "It looks like someone has much to answer for. Those symbols were those of the alchemical arts of Nohr..." Celeste stiffened slightly at those words, frowning. She did not know much about Nohr's alchemical arts herself, just a few rumors. Her magic was internal, after all. |

-Nohr- [City Streets] Willow couldn't help but to raise a brow at her father's smirk. "Just why are you smiling like that? Do you know something about Liam and Rue that I don't?" Her brother told her everything, and she had known Rue (and her elder sister Caitlin) since she was born. They were all like a big family...Buuuuuut- "Does he like her!?" she blurted, stopping. [Kanna's Apartment] Kanna raised a brow at Sage, but grinned. "Smart boy. Always be prepared to mingle with old rich people. Especially when you come from the same money." Meanwhile Joyce was picking her own dress from the array that her grandmother picked for her. She couldn't imagine how much some of these costs....Not that she'd dare ask. Instead she selected a long green down, shimmying into it and seeing that it fit like a glove. Weird. But convient. "How's this?" she asked, appearing again after a few minutes, the dress hugging every curve and showing off just how strong the Narroh women's genes were. She couldn't help but to glance to Sage as she asked. [Small Inn] Liam was fast, but Jade did have two hands- and amazing focus. As the young man came at her she raised the other hand towards him, while clenching her fist shut with the hand controlling Rue. She fully expected them both to be her puppets now- But not quite. For some reason her powers weren't controlling Liam, causing her to quickly have to dodge when he made it to her. She dropped her hands- effectively severing her connection with Rue- causing the girl to fall in a heap, clutching her now useless arm. "Just what are you up to..." Jade said, quickly pulling water to her hands once more, aiming more sharp shards at the group to keep them away. "Are you magic too?" |

-Nohr- City Streets Edda laughed now a little. “He does, but I don't think he realizes it himself yet,” Edda said. “He always brings her a souvenir, he talks about her a lot... Nothing like an adventure to get the romance going...” Edda sighed softly, remembering older days with Chloe now. Kanna's Apartment Sage froze when he saw Joyce, unable to speak for several moments as she stepped out. “You... look amazing, Joyce...” Sage said, smiling now towards Joyce. Blake smiled, glancing towards Samara, “See, something like that? Maybe red for you, like your eyes though!” Small Inn Liam glared at Jade, stepping forward and slashing again, not letting up, letting his adrenaline flow for now. “Not magic!” Liam smirked though as he pressed the attacked. “Just an ordinary guy!” With a weird anti-magic and what not sword only a handful of people in the world can use, mind you. |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Musashi frowned deeply at the news that this was the work of Nohrian alchemists. He groaned loudly, and then suddenly kicked at one of the broken corpses in anger, shattering a leg bone in the process and hurting his own foot. He ignored the pain, simply venting his anger. “Damn it! This is the last thing we need! When Ryoma hears the Nohrian's did something like this at a shrine, he's liable to push us straight into a full-blown war!” In his frustrations, Musashi casually name-dropped Ryoma – the reigning Prince of Hoshido, and often considered the finest katana-wielder in the world. Musashi didn't much care to realize his mistake, he was just annoyed. “... augh, but we definitely have to report this... the Nohrian's could be doing this at other shrines, more people could be in danger...” He ran his hands through his sweat-soaked hair, trying to calm down. [Nohr] [Small Inn] The moment Rue's body twisted so unnaturally and she yelped out in pain, Graham and Caitlin both gasped in horror. Caitlin looked especially shaken – both to see such an incredibly potent ability on display, and to see her sister in such fright and pain. Her first instinct was to embed her dagger as deeply as it would go into Jade's neck, but Caitlin had been through enough to know that if Jade could do this with just one hand than she was a whole different kind of scary... Then Liam attacked, before anyone could act, and Rue fell. The moment she did Caitlin rushed to her sister's side and she grabbed her, looking down at her arm and frowning deeply. “Rue! Rue, it's okay! You'll be okay, I'll get you out of here I promise!” Graham hesitated. It was very clear to him that Jade was not your ordinary danger. She was something else entirely... and far worse, she could clearly sense the power in Graham's “eye”. He shuddered to think what someone like that could do if she ever got her hands on it... “I'm sorry!” Graham yelled, and he rushed to the side of Caitlin and Rue. His blue eye faded and his hands exploded forth with blue light as he slapped them onto the ground – the back wall of the inn room suddenly unraveled and reconstituted itself, forming a staircase leading outside the inn! “We have to go, now!” He yelled at Caitlin, as he grabbed Rue and hoisted her into his arms. [Mountain Side] Garnet frowned and went very quiet. There was wisdom in what Zadkiel and Aiden suggested, but somewhere deep down she wondered if there wasn't more... maybe she was just looking for any reason to blame someone besides her brother for the horrors in those caves. She sighed, and then tried to remember the maps she had studied in preparation for this. Her mind was such a haze it was hard to remember much... “Dali!” She suddenly blurted out. “There is a small village called Dali... it is mostly a farming village, but they breed Chocobos there! It's not far from here, um... I think... but if we can obtain Chocobos from the village, we could make it to the boarder much, much quicker.” |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] “Not magic! Just an ordinary guy!” "Like hell you are!" Jade hissed as Liam came at her again, intent on slashing her with his sword. While the woman was on defense she was also very interested in the sudden turn of events. Liam had a power that she wanted to learn more about- but that would have to wait. Right now she needed to fight. Jade formed another long shard of ice- rock hard and sharp. She slashed at Liam's sword, confident that she could take him on. Meanwhile Rue clutched her arm, trying not to cry at the sharp pain. She needed to relax, if she didn't she wouldn't be able to heal herself. Rue squeezed her eyes shut and tried to focus.... “We have to go, now!” Suddenly Rue was lifted and the girl opened her eyes, realizing that Graham had picked her up and was headed towards a hole that suddenly appeared in the wall. Her eyes widened. "H-How did you do that?" she managed. [City Streets] Willow couldn't help but smile at her father's assumption, knowing he was probably onto something. "What do you think about it? I mean, you're okay with him adventuring with a girl he may possibly have feelings for?" [Kanna's Apartment] From her spot Joyce blushed, looking from her gown and back to Sage. "Thanks" she said. Meanwhile Samara stared at Joyce's dress for a moment before closing her eyes for a moment. In a poof of shadows her clothes changed into a version of Joyce's- only red. Samara's hair had also changed, now in a short bob, black hair curled in soft waves around her face. "Like this?" she asked Blake, looking to him. Edited by Crystal Rose, Nov 4 2017, 06:24 PM.

Nohr "I doubt he simply thought we would go a little in, then back out. Besides, he probably has some manner of...tracking us...through the pass." Didymus said. "Some...magic...that allows him to see that we went all the way through. I believe it prudent to operate under the assumption that they either know or WILL know shortly precisely which direction we exited the mountain through. Which means...they may guess we are going to Dali as well..." He paused. They'd probably tear the town apart looking for Garnet...yet it seemed their best avenue of escape...but would they simply bring the wrath of their pursuers down on Dali if they went there? And to the contrary, would it really be THEIR fault if their OPPONENTS chose to attack Dali, their own people, in retaliation for them going there? Could they really be held responsible for that? And even if not, perhaps it was still RIGHT to avoid it? But if their mission failed... "Dali, you say? Some transportation would be most useful...tell me, how likely is it that your..." he paused, realizing how hard this question may be for her, "...family...would retaliate against the town or its people themselves if we were to find transportation there?" Perhaps they weren't as far gone as Didymus feared...and while they DID have provisions for some days of roughing it, just in case such an event as this occurred, the faster they escaped the better... |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] For a moment, Hiko remained contemplative as Musashi cursed up a storm and as Celeste finally relaxed. But he was a perceptive sort, and he noticed both Celeste's tensing when Nohr was mentioned, and Musashi's slip. He had a pretty good idea about some of what his current company was all about. Primarily about the swordsman, whose rings, techniques and familiarity with the name of the current Emperor spoke more than any other observation or sudden proclamation. But Hiko was not the sort to delve into those things. His companions kept secrets, it was not his place to unearth them. Instead, he focused on the commentary itself, and what it meant for this moment. So he spoke up, his hand remaining on the bare shoulder of the fox-woman that was still catching her breath. "It is very unlikely that any major action would come to pass, Musashi-san. Especially a war. this shrine incident has been buried for years, and was the mystery that haunted the previous emperor of this land. Even if Miyamoto Ryoma-dono would take a look into this, the trail has grown old... And our word is worth very little before the politics of the countries and their twisted and contested games. This is certainly something that was recently uncovered and should definitely be brought to the eyes of those who watch over this land and defend its people, but this particular situation would very likely be glossed over and become one of the many scrolls that are buried within the archives, only retrieved once enough similar events are found." He sighed, his smile small and a bit sardonic. "No, this is simply one of the many troubles that plague Hoshido. What worries me is the snake... It was no spirit, no natural thing, yet exhibited the majority of the traits that liken it to spirit-kind. This was no simple attack. It was an experiment. And from what we have witnessed... It may very well have been a successful one." |

-Hoshido- Tokohotsu Shrine “Either way... it sounds like we should get to the capitol,” Celeste said, shaking her head. She did notice Musashi's name drop of Ryoma, but assumed Musashi just knew enough about Ryoma's policies, being from Hoshido himself. “Would anyone listen to us though?” Celeste wondered. -Nohr- Small Inn Ice clanged against cold iron as Liam fought against Jade. “We have to go, now!” Liam stepped back, disengaging from Jade now. He had a few things back in his room... but that wasn't anything he couldn't live without. “Right!” Liam said, backing up now, covering the rest as they all made a break for it! Mountain Side “Warding magics could warn them of where we went, but that does require power and upkeep,” Zadkiel said, thinking. “We are in the heart of Nohrian territory, why would they go through the trouble of keeping such wards in a stronghold they have no reason to believe an enemy could get into or out of, considering what we ran across within? Nevertheless, it is prudent to act as though they do know where we are.” At the mention of Chocobos, Zadkiel's face seemed to soften, and he actually smiled. “Chocobos? I haven't ridden one in years, since before Aiden was born and I met Loralee...” City Streets “Of course,” Edda said, smiling. “There's nothing like an adventure to get your mind clear... to tell you exactly what you want in life. I'm sure Liam and Rue will realize if they want to be together, or just remain friends.” Edda was confident that even if Rue didn't reciprocate Liam's feelings, he would still respect the girl. Kanna's Apartment “I... suppose I should get changed...” Sage said, having a hard time tearing his eyes away from Joyce, taking his bag and finding a room to change. Blake smiled at Samara again, looking over her dress and giving her an approving grin and thumbs up. “You look great, Samara!” Blake said. |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Musashi frowned, and he wasn't convinced. He knew the twisted politics between the two nations far better than he ever wanted to. “I wouldn't be so sure, Hiko-san.” Musashi shook his head. “Ever since... the previous Emperor died, there has been a growing pressure among some in power in Hoshido. Some of the older noble clans are pushing to be more aggressive with Nohr. The actions and rumors of actions from Brahne and Garon have them paranoid, and there's been growing pressure to take the offensive.” He started to pace, clearly troubled by all of these thoughts. “... Something like this, by itself, may not be a case for war, but it certainly gives those pushing for one another argument.” His brow furrowed and his frown deepened. There was more he wanted to say, but... he didn't like thinking about some of it, and some of it he couldn't disclose, as it was a state secret... Finally, he sighed once more and looked to Celeste. “... I can't promise they'll listen to us, but I can at least get us a meeting with the Imperials.” [Nohr] [Mountainside] Garnet's face fell. It was a difficult question for her to even consider, and she became very pale. She hadn't stopped to think about the retaliation that could come as a result of her fleeing. What would happen to those who were close to her? Captain Steiner, who had always been her chief protector? Would her mother believe he knew nothing of this? What of Dali? If they sought help, WOULD her family come after them? Then there was the fact that those aiding in her escape were clearly Paladins... would there be some retaliation against Galdwin? Or against those in Nohr who professed the faith practiced by the Paladins? She was only now realizing just how many innocents might get caught up in all of this... “... I... I don't know.” Garnet shook her head. [Small Inn - > Outside] Graham jumped down, Caitlin just behind him as they sprinted down the makeshift steps that would lead them outside. Graham could feel the magic pulsing with every step, and he did not know how long he could sustain it with his thoughts so scattered. “I'll explain later, right now we have to flee! That woman... I don't know who she is, but she is POWERFUL, I can sense it and I don't know if we can beat her!” Graham was terrified. Edited by GoldenSama, Nov 6 2017, 10:24 PM.

Nohr [Mountainside] "If it's an area of secret...experimentation...that he's PERSONALLY overseeing...I imagine that he'd be willing to pay what prices were necessary to maintain the..." Didymus began to reply, but paused. "...enchantments..." he settled on a word, before continuing "...that keep guard on it and alert him to any intrusions. I imagine that for a facility that held such importance to him, he'd want to spare no...expense." He didn't like ANY of what was going on in there. The magic, the monsters, the entire place...he was glad to be out of it. Though he wondered if Vivi would serve as a tracker on their location...he still didn't have enough decisive evidence to determine whether that was the case or not. He waited for a moment, as Zadkiel talked of his marriage and of chocobos. "Always preferred a sturdy war stallion, myself..." he said halfheartedly, as if it was just a thought that had slipped from his brain and out through his mouth. "...but a chocobo would be faster and therefore, perhaps, more desirable in our situation." he added quickly, realizing his previous remark was said out loud. He looked over to Garnet, realizing his question may have hit her a harder than he'd meant or hoped to... "...very well." He paused, looking forward. "...still, it may be the best option, Lord have mercy..." And besides, he thought, what if they avoided the town, and said town was STILL punished for not finding them or having any information? He didn't know just what Garnet's family would do in any of these situations, and clearly Garnet herself didn't either... He was quiet, head bowed for a moment. "In any case, let's move on." he finally said. |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Hiko's expression turned thoughtful at Musashi's commentary. It seemed that things really have changed since the last time he had been anywhere near the capital. If Musashi was speaking the truth (and Hiko really didn't have any reason to disbelieve the swordsman at this point), then it seemed like the newer generation had replaced the level heads he remembered in the imperial court, and now vied for attention by calling for hostile retaliation against perceived slights. And while Hiko certainly didn't blame that line of thought, he knew that it was a very dangerous spiral to drop into. Violence beget more violence, and war had the property of making everyone the losing side, no matter who actually turned out to be victorious in the end. But things could not remain as they were either. The creature he saw Musashi and Celeste battle when he first laid his eyes upon them was a creation of Nohr. And the events here at the Tokohotsu Shrine also pointed toward Nohrian involvement. Particularly concerning was the snake demi-spirit, the existence of which lay contrary to the natural order, and whose presence was enough to attract the malice of the Yokai. There hasn't been an Onryoki demon on the loose in Hoshido for over a hundred years. To think that one had surfaced here, with such support... He patted the shoulder upon which his palm had been resting for a while, letting his fingers brush across Tamamo's skin as he removed the hand and stepped away from the fox woman, facing Musashi in full. "Then if you are so very certain that you could give us an audience with those who would put what we have found here to proper use, we have very little time to waste. The Imperial Family should be notified about what has happened here, so they can make the appropriate choice. I hope you do not mind if I travel with you to do so, Musashi-san. It has been a... Long time since I have been in the capital, and I would like to see how much it has changed in my absence. And do so miss the hot spring baths." He gave a short bow, stiffened by the injury that still bothered him, though he gave no outward sign of discomfort. "For the moment, I will be in your care, Musashi-san." |

[Nohr] Outside From her spot in Graham's arms Rue gave a small nod, allowing him to continue to carry her as she assessed her situation. She didn't think her arm was broken, but the force that came with Jade's control led her to believe it was at least dislocated. With every hurried step Graham took the girl bounced painfully and a pain shot down her arm. "I need to heal myself." she mumbled to Graham, looking back at Caitlin and Liam. She needed to heal herself so that she could heal them. That woman's powers...Well, it looked like it did a number on everyone. "Can we hide somewhere?" Rue wasn't even sure if it was possible to hide from a woman like Jade.... City Streets Willow couldn't help but to give a little smile. Her father (and even her mother for the most part) were so....Cool. They respected she and Liam and trusted them to do things that would give normal parent heart attacks. "Is that how you fell in love with mom? On some grand adventure?" She asked, trying to spot a bakery her mother would like. She needed a decent peace offering for last night. Kanna's Apartment Joyce watched Sage rush off to change from her spot, the girl's eyes going to the door as he shut it behind him. She thought about following him but decided to give him at least a few moments to actually change before she barged in on him- After giving him two minutes she went over to the room he was in, knocking three times before opening the door with her eyes shut. "It's meeee, can I come in?" Meanwhile Samara looked...confused at Blake's compliment. She didn't value the concept of being attractive, but she did know what Blake liked (since she was in-part him) so that's what she decided to become. "Are you sure you don't perfer something else?" she asked, her hair changing once more, now blonde and falling down her back. |

[Nohr] [Outside] Caitlin and Graham – the latter of who was still carrying Rue – rushed into the woods beyond the Inn. It was not a large forest, just a small thicket of trees, but it was the only place they could take cover in. Graham moved as far inward as they could before he stopped and gently sat Rue down. Caitlin ran to her sister's side. “How can I help?” She asked. She wasn't as good of a healer, but she wasn't going to hesitate to help her sister. [Mountainside] “We won't have much luck finding horses.” Garnet told Didymus as she shook her head. “Most of them have been conscripted for the Knights. Xander's elite always have first pick of the war horses, and they're kept under tighter guard. So any civilian horses we could find will likely be the runts. However, chocobo are used more widely for civilian work... we still won't find any of the best ones, but we have a much better chance of finding some decent ones.” Although she did not leave the castle often, Garnet had overheard many things. Her siblings spoke at length about these matters, and sometimes she'd overhear the Knights of Pluto as well. [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Musashi nodded, thoughtfully. He had been planning on traveling as far from the Capital as he could... but that was not to be. The dangers here were very real, and while he worried what some of the nobles would do with this information, he knew he could not hide it. If Nohrian Mages and Alchemists had been responsible for this... then who knows what else they may have wrought? “Don't worry, I'll get us an audience... but I'll need all of you to testify what you witnessed here. I fear my word alone will scarcely convince Yukimura to help.” Musashi frowned a bit. Tamamo, meanwhile, stiffened for a moment when she felt Hiko's fingers and then she slowly stood up. The talk of the Capital was exciting, but she was... hesitant to meet the royal family. Her eyes lingered on Musashi, and she frowned slightly. 'I thought he looked familiar...' She shook her head. The past hardly mattered. Whatever had happened then... it was a very different time, and she was a different person. “We should not waste time, then.” |

The girl took a small breath, trying to focus despite the pain. “How can I help?” Suddenly Caitlin was at her side and Rue gave her a weak smile. She was not looking forward to what came next. "I think my shoulder is dislocated. Can you put it back in place?" she asked as seriously as she could. Being a doctor was a lot harder when it was for herself. Luckily she knew that Caitlin knew just as much about this kind of stuff...Even if she never would admit it. "I don't think i'm strong enough to do it with my good arm...But I can heal myself right after. Then I can heal you guys" Time was ticking and Jade wasn't far behind them....
