[Nohr] [Small Inn] Caitlin gasped when the man recovered from her attack. He was more skilled than the kind of bandits she had fought yesterday – and he was fast. She swore under her breath as the man slashed out with his sword and she barely had time to bring up her dagger and block it, using the smaller blade to deflect what could have been a fatal slash to her throat. She jumped back, arm shaking from the impact of the sword and feeling a lot more nervous than she normally did. This guy was dangerous and he likely wasn't alone. Caitlin frowned and kept her distance, touching the symbol on her dagger again and throwing a blast of energy at his knee, hoping to keep him out of range! [Tunnels] “I've had very little exposure to my brother's experiments,” Garnet told Zadkiel with a frown. “I only hear the rumors about them... but my father believes Leo is helping make Nohr stronger, and Leo seems to believe it as well.” [Ylisse] [Camelot] “We will not fail.” Arturia replied, and she sounded quite sure. The confidence she projected was not quite true to how she felt inside, but she had long ago learned that a King must never show weakness. “Indeed, we will not.” At the end of the hall, a knight in blazing white armor had appeared. ![]() He walked forward, an enormous golden sword slung over his back. He bowed briefly before the King and then looked to Diarmund. “I am glad you returned alive, my friend.” Lancelot smiled softly. “I have prepared horses for our journey. We can depart at once.” |

-Nohr- Small Inn Liam ran forward, once more entering Rue and Caitlin's room while shirtless, this time wielding his sword as he spotted the man attacking Caitlin now. He focused on Rue, seeing her alive, but in pain, and he gripped his sword tightly. As Caitlin fired a blast at the man's knees, Liam came from behind, attempting to run the man through with his sword! City Streets Edda paused, then smiled at Willow again. “Well, we worry about you... But I'm glad you stand up against people being jerks.” He was not so secretly quite proud of his daughter for her act. “You know, I've never been entirely sure myself,” Edda said, grinning “If you figure out why your mom likes these places, will you let me know?” Kanna's Apartment Blake frowned some more. Part of him was warning him something was up... “...Okay, if we're helping people...” Blake said after a moment. “Then what can I do to help?” -Ylisse- Camelot “Sir Lancelot!” Diarmund said, seeing the knight enter. “It is good to see you again.” He stood up now, wincing slightly as the healing was still taking effect. “I should still be able to ride, at least.” |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] The sound of metal on metal was deafening, causing Rue to wince from her spot just from the idea that her sister could have been hit. She knew she needed some sort of weapon, so once again she pulled herself up (wincing once again) and looked around. Luckily sitting beside the small fireplace meant tow keep the inn room warm on drafty nights sat a long iron meant to proad at the wood. That would work. Meanwhile the man was careful to dodge Caitlin's next attack, giving a shout to call for reinforcements. He then turned back to the girl and ran at her once more- Little did he expect the reinforcements to be that of Liam and Graham, the young man's sword ramming through him with a sickening noise. Just as he fell two more bandits appeared at the door, these two not holding weapons at all. Instead their hands held what looked like large blobs of water, which the promptly turned into very sharp shards of ice and shot at the group like tiny sharp bullets. [City Streets] Willow couldn't help but to give a small laugh. "She once said places like this remind her of home, though I can't imagine that being much of a good thing consider what I know of grandmother and father" she said. Her parents had always been quite honest with she and her older brother, and that included the explanation of why her mother hated her own parents. Apparently despite being quite rich and well off they were also very cruel to the girl as a child. She had never met those grandparents, but didn't really desire to either. [Kanna's Apartment] From her spot Kanna couldn't help but to give a small smile. "Well first we see the kind of powers you have, then we work with what you can do and make a plan from there." she explained cryptically. She then paused, focus now on the group as a whole. "I was originally only expecting Joyce, but how would all of you like to attend a party with me? You get to dress up, mingle, perhaps Blake can meet a nice young lady..." |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] The initial bandit had fallen, but now two more had come – and they had magic on their side. Caitlin gasped and jumped back, dropping beside the bed and using it as cover – one of the razor sharp ice bullets slammed into the side of the bed and tore the wooden frame apart. She gulped at the sight. Graham however spun around and moved one of his hands by his eye – the blue color vanished, leaving only a blind white behind, but in his hand was glowing blue magic that quickly transformed into a full-sized shield, mounted onto his forearm and he held it up and blocked away one of the shards of ice. With a grunt, he then slashed at one of the bandits! [Ylisse] [Camelot] The four made their way outside, into the courtyard beside the castle. Four large horses were already waiting, with various packs strapped to them. Arturia approached a large white horse and jumped aboard, while Lancelot took a spot on a large black one. Merlin took a much smaller brown horse, but he seemed far less comfortable riding the larger horses. After the horses had been saddled and mounted, the four were off down the roads away from the castle. Arturia rode on in the front, although the crown and cape she had worn at the castle were left behind. |

-Nohr- Small Inn Liam pulled his sword out from the man, seeing shards of ice coming, Caitlin taking cover, and Graham appearing with a shield as well. But Rue... Liam got in front of Rue, bringing his sword up, managing to knock a few shards away, but a few hit him, the young man grunting as he felt the attacks hit home. He managed to avoid getting hit in a vital area, but had shielded Rue... City Streets “Yah...” Edda sighed, remembering meeting Chloe's parents. That had... not gone well. He still wanted to punch them. “But you got good grandparents too!” Edda said, smiling as he started down the street, moving at a jogging speed. “We should go visit them in Ylisse again, think we could convince your mother of that?” Kanna's Apartment “Sure,” Sage said, frowning, still not trusting Kanna and Rica. Kanna was the reason Galv had begrudgingly began to trust Sage, because he didn't want to do that same thing Kanna did when he and Melanie hooked up... Not that Sage and Joyce had hooked up, but Sage was the son of Ryan... “Okay,” Blake said. He focused for a moment, and suddenly appeared to be wearing a nice suit. “Samara can come too! That would be fun!” -Ylisse- Camelot Diarmund made his way on the last horse, his spears safely placed in some holders, following along behind and to the left of Arturia, keeping his eyes open. “It should be about an hour's ride,” Diarmund said, “Though I suggest we dismount prior to and make the rest of the way on foot, if we are to not run straight into the fight.” |

Nohr Didymus was simply silent as Garnet spoke, and then as Zadkiel added on what he had heard. Sorcery, he thought. Look at what it's wrought-now they found themselves deep within a dark mountain where terrors were LITERALLY coming out of the walls. He did not say such thoughts out loud, but continued his silent supplications, to find the way out, and to see the encroachment of any unholy threats that would advance on them. "Well, let us at least keep moving forward." he said. "Lord willing, we shall find the way out." |

Nohr [Small Inn] The shards of ice came at Caitlin, Graham, Liam and Rue with amazing speed, causing them each to take cover as quickly as possible. Rue internally panicked, unable to conjure up a shield or find cover for herself....Luckily Liam rushed in front of her and took the brunt of the attack. "Liam!" she exclaimed, trying to focus and make her hands glow to heal her best friend. Unfortunately nothing was coming. "That's enough" A voice behind the men stated, all of the bandits currently fighting stopping and turning to the door. There stood a woman perhaps a bit older than the four, clad in a dark clothes and a pretty sadistic grin. She stepped forward, eying the group. Suddenly her glance landed on Graham, making eye contact with him for a moment. Her grin widened a bit. "So I did sense magic in here....Tell me. Are you the ones who killed my men last night?" [City Streets] "She'd probably like that" Willow answered "Not to mention it's been ages since we've seen them. Too bad Liam can't come along too..." Willow loved her older brother, and missed him quite a bit. Adventuring with her parents was fun, but it had always been moreso when her brother was with them too. She liked having someone to confide in, not to mention he was fun to tease. [Kanna's Apartment] "Very good" Kanna said with a rare smile, eyes on Blake as he made his own suit appear. She looked to Sage and Rica. "Since I doubt he can do that do you mind finding Sage something proper to wear? Joyce, i've laid some options for you in the other room. Joyce nodded, not minding at all that she got to play dress up. She rushed into the back room. Meanwhile Samara looked unsure. "What am I suposed to wear to something like this?" she asked Blake quietly, still refusing to make eye contact with Kanna or Rica. |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] As the attack stopped, neither Caitlin nor Graham looked particularly relieved. When the woman clad in dark clothes appeared, that feeling of uneasy only doubled. Graham particularly felt a bad vibe coming from her... she clearly had some kind of power, and these men were following her orders without hesitation. Usually to command that kind of loyalty took someone... intense. When she made eye contact with him, Graham shuddered. He could feel a warning buzz through his brain from the deep, ancient magic buried within his eye. “... We were attacked last night and we defended ourselves; and we're prepared to do it again.” Graham spoke up, calmly but clearly worried. “There's no need for anyone else to get hurt. Just walk away.” [Small Tunnels] Eventually the cramped tunnels went forward, winding through the innards of the mountain. The group moved quietly, Garnet half-expecting something else to happen, and yet nothing did. The monsters that had been placed here did not return, and although the feeling of unnatural eyes watching them from the dark was felt many times, nothing made itself seen. After nearly an hour of walking, the tunnels widened back up, and then came to an opening. The night sky was visible outside of the cave. “We made it...” Garnet seemed far less nervous as she stepped forward. “We're through the mountain... we just need to hike down the other side.” “Wow... is that... the moon?” Vivi spoke up, his large eyes pointed skyward. “I haven't seen the moon in so long, it feels like...” [Ylisse] [Roads] “Tell me, Diarmund, what manner of creature was it that attacked you?” Lancelot asked. The knight had not heard everything, only that something foul had attacked and slain the men with the Lancer. He had the same fear many did – the coming March. “Something not of this world, from what he said before.” Merlin spoke up. “I will know more when I see one of them. Though as of yet, I do not feel too much in the way of magical disruptions.” Merlin was an unusual mage, one who seldom spoke of his power or where he had learned it. Lancelot had always had some suspicions about the man; but he had known Arturia since before she had become King. |

Nohr Didymus was wary the entire time they were still in the tunnels, cross in one hand and sword in the other as they advanced. "Lord be praised." he said, upon their finally escaping the tunnels. The night was clear, clear enough anyway to see the moon. Vivi seemed awed by it. "Yes, that is indeed the moon." Didymus responded to Vivi's remark, and looking about. Though he kept praying, asking to see any evil around them, it appeared that there were fewer blatantly unholy threats surrounding them now. Which, while relieving, was far from the only thing they had to be worried about. "It is good to be out of there, and to see we came out on the side in the direction we were trying to go..." he said. "...we must not rest on our laurels. We still have to travel a ways, apparently on foot, and now that we're out under the open sky again, I'm sure some wyvren riders or something will have a chance at spotting us. We must be wary, and try to stick under cover if we can-trees or other natural formations to conceal us from the air." They had to stay focused. |

[Nohr] [Mountainside] Garnet cast a glance behind her at the caverns, and the mountain beyond it. Just above the tops of the mountain she could barely see the gleam from Alexander Castle, the main stronghold of Nohr and the place she had always called home. She felt an odd sensation, a powerful swelling of sadness as she thought of the castle. She sighed, and then turned away from it. She couldn't dwell on the past and the life she was walking away from... she had to do this, if she had any hope of saving her family and quite possibly her nation. She nodded to Didymus. She knew little of things like this, but he seemed to know what he was doing, so she pulled up her hood and followed his lead. |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] “... We were attacked last night and we defended ourselves; and we're prepared to do it again. There's no need for anyone else to get hurt. Just walk away.” Jade stared at Graham for a long moment, before giving a loud laugh. "Obviously you don't know who I am....Though really that works in my benefit doesn't it?" From her spot Rue shuddered, staying close to the injured Liam. She was still trying to make her healing work- but she was currently preoccupied with being terrified. "While you did kill my men i'm not angry." Jade stated, eyes still on Graham. As far as she knew he was the only one in the room who was magic. "But you will be coming with me. I'd like....To talk to a man such as yourself" She then looked to the others. "It would be best for everyone if you simply come along" |

Nohr [Mountainside] Didymus heard Garnet sigh, looking back at her. She had put up the hood of her robe...he recognized the pattern. Not that it surprised him, both considering her heritage AND that she had cast spells in the tunnels...still... ...he put that out of his mind, instead looking back to her for a moment as they made their way down the mountainside. He wanted to ask if she was alright, to offer some relief, for the moment, from whatever internal pressure she was no doubt feeling. But to speak unnecessarily while they were still so close to danger seemed unbecoming. Creating more noise than necessary while still so deep in hostile territory seemed like an unwise decision...so he continued walking, quietly, keeping watch whilst continuing his silent supplications for aid and protection. |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] The black-red viper's lunge was almost enough. It was just a meter away, and it came out of the crumbling black crystal like an arrow loosed from a longbow. Tamamo started moving, but it was already too late, and it seemed as if the snake was about to strike... And then, it passed by Tamamo's shoulder by a mere few millimeters, its fangs missing the target despite the fact that it was on mark just a fraction of a moment earlier. The snake hissed angrily at its failure to strike, but it had very little time to regroup as the spirit hornet, Suzume, began to assault it, trying to sink its several-inches-long stinger into the semi-transparent black and red viper. The snake, retaliated, hissing angrily and coiling in mid-air, striking out with several lightning-fast lunges, though Suzume barely managed to dodge each of the strikes. As the group finally got their wits about them and just as Hiko focused and began to draw his blade once more to aid his spirit, the viper suddenly dove to the ground. The hornet followed it, attempting to strike it, but the snake suddenly reversed its trajectory, its body snapping like a whip and uncoiling from a perfect position to strike, sinking its fangs into the spirit-hornet. A cry of "Suzume!" from Hiko was punctuated by the futile attempts of the shikigami spirit to free itself from the viper's maw, but it was too late. The viper's venom, potent enough as it was and amplified by the core of the malice that turned this shrine into an unholy place quickly weakened the spirit, and it dissipated, leaving only a paper hornet where it used to be. The viper twisted, tearing the paper into shreds with its passing, and just as Hiko's blade finally came to bear, fury in the swordsman's eyes, the snape dove into the ground, passed through the solid earth like through a simply veil of water, and vanished without a trace. In just 3 seconds, all that was left of the encounter was the black crystal, which was quickly turning to dust, the markings on the corpse which were quickly fading, the fluttering of torn paper, and an echo of a sinister laugh from someone who had just achieved an objective... |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] Graham stared at Jade and frowned. He didn't know who this woman was, or why she was interested in him... but he could only assume it had something to do with the mysterious magic in his eye. It was an ancient and powerful thing, quite unlike most magic in the world – he had always tried to be careful with using it... He pondered the situation. Jade felt different than her henchmen. She had the eyes of a killer, and he was worried about Caitlin and the others. They hadn't dealt with people like her before. … Unfortunately, Graham had. He thought about agreeing to her terms to get out of the room, but Caitlin spoke up first. “Look you crazy harpy, nobody's going with you!” Caitlin declared. “Just get the heck outta here or you're going down!” [Mountainside] Despite being so close to the creepy tunnels full of strange ghosts and weird barrels, and their original pursuers, there was no sign of anything coming after them now. As the group slowly made their way down the winding path at the side of the mountain, the night drifted on. Eventually, Garnet frowned deeply and finally spoke up. “... Something is wrong. Those creatures in the tunnels... if they were summoned by my brother, then they would have warned him by now... and yet I've not seen a single Wyvern in the skies... but surely they're still pursuing us...” It didn't make sense. If the creatures in the tunnels served Leo, they would tell him where she was. Leo would come – as would the others. [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] “What the hell was that?” Musashi was exhausted. The battle with the larger oni had been a challenge and he had wasted too much energy – and everything with Tamamo, the snake and the hornet had happened so quickly he hadn't had time to help. He rushed over, sword still in hand, trying to drive himself onward. He looked to Hiko – who looked furious. “Are you okay?” He called out. Tamamo, meanwhile, he dropped down to her knees and was trying to calm herself. The evil radiating from that snake creature, and the dissolving crystal – it was palpable. It scared her deeply... |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] The wounded swordsman quietly made his way to the corpse, limping slightly and favoring his side just a bit, his face no longer smiling. The furious scowl he wore disappeared quickly, giving way to a rather melancholy expression as he hobbled over to where the shreds of the paper charm settled upon the ground. For a moment, he looked down at them with an unreadable expression before raising a hand as if beckoning. The shreds of paper rose from the ground, whirling as though picked up by an invisible breeze and floated up into his hand, settling there as he clenched that hand and brought it to his mouth, planting a light kiss to his enclosed hand. "Thank you for your protection, Suzume-chan. Rest. You've earned it." Sliding the paper remnants into the sleeve of his kimono, he stepped beside Tamamo, placing a hand lightly upon her shoulder and gazing down at the corpse with a sad smile. "... Hm. So this is why... I did wonder. I hope you have found peace at last, Jinnai-san..." And he lowered his head, bringing his free hand up flat to line up with his nose and mouth, speaking a quiet prayer for the dead, praying for the safe passage of the spirit of the man before them, the man that used to be the head priest of this shrine. After the quiet prayer, he remained silent for a few moments before speaking softly. "It looks like someone has much to answer for. Those symbols were those of the alchemical arts of Nohr..." |
