[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] And finally, after the extended battle, Musashi got to land a decisive blow. The monster roared as the two blades mixed their elements within its body and blasted shreds and chunks of flesh, bone and other indescribable bits out the creature's back. With a slow motion, almost like in a haze, the Onryoki's body began to collapse as its eyes rolled upward, first collapsing onto its thick knees, and then finally topping sideways. The demonic entity was finally down, open to whatever purifying rite Tamamo prepared, and the buzzing shikigami hornet began to buzz around the body, its wings shedding little motes of golden light that swallowed the little black flecks that began to come off of the body of the enormous demon... Hiko's call rang clear through the sudden silence. "Now, Tamamo-san! Before the Oni-bi begin to swarm us!" |

[Nohr] [Apartment] "Well I appreciate you telling me...I think" Kanna said, moving back to sit on the bed. "So is that why you were in town? Or just because you like to stalk me?" [...] Meanwhile Joyce was busy looking around her grandmother's apartment, eyes coming across various odds and ends that caught her eyes. Eventually she turned back to Sage. "She wrote me a letter a few weeks ago and asked me to come spend some time with her" she explained. "We used to see her every now and then as kids, but I really haven't spent any proper time with her since I was in grade school. I'm smart enough to know she probably doesn't just want to catch up...I assumed it was something about my powers- since she has powers too" Granted, Kanna's were different. Joyce inherited her father's spark after all. [Small Inn] “I mean... of course I care about him. He's a good guy. We've been through a bunch of crazy stuff, and... you know, he's nice, and he goes along with whatever stuff I want to do and almost never complains... and I mean I guess he's sorta handsome...” Rue knew that she was making Caitlin quite miserable right now, but she also knew that this was good for her. Rue doubted she ever got to vent while on the road- and what person to do it to than your sister! "You like him Caitlin, a lot. I've only known about Graham for a day but he's already shown that he cares for you, and he's kind, and brave...He helped fight off all those bandits after all-" Rue shook her head, her wet hair sticking a bit to her face. Her cheeks were still a bit pink "But I won't interfere. If it's meant to be it'll happen right?" Edited by Crystal Rose, Oct 4 2017, 03:25 PM.

[Ylisse] [Capitol] As the young man approached the castle, a young woman was standing in the clearing just beyond the vast castle walls, training. She swung a sword repeatedly, letting out a yell as she struck a training dummy. After a moment she stopped, to catch her breath and wipe sweat from her brow – when she heard the frantic footfalls and spotted the man's approach. “Sir Diarmuid!” She gasped, spotting him and running over, her long blue hair billowing in the wind. “Is everything alright?” [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Musashi collapsed to one knee, breathing heavy. Once the creature was down he allowed himself to reveal just how tired he was. His muscles burned and his body cried out for rest – but although he now knelt before the fallen beast, he did not dare move away. He didn't know if this was truly over and despite his exhaustion he was not about to give up. Tamamo rushed forward, light blazing out from her hands. She stood and struck a pose, dancing in front of the fallen demonic entity. She concentrated, focusing all of her energy on the beast in front of them, and then she threw her hands into the air and a rain of Onyfuda came flying down, the strips slamming against the beast as she attempted to purify its body, and force the corruption out! [Nohr] [Secret Tunnel] Garnet nodded. She knew Didymus and Zadkiel were correct – they could not dawdle here. It was far too dangerous, and she doubted that whatever else was in these barrels was anything like the boy. Then she frowned. “Do you have a name?” She asked him. The boy shifted nervously, his eyes scrunched up as he tried to think. He couldn't recall much... just flashes – and then: “Um... V-Vivi, I think. I remember that name... but I don't know if it's mine.” Garnet gave him a gentle smile. “Very well, Vivi. Please come with us. I am Princess Garnet til Alexandros the IX, a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” The group would soon depart the small room, through even more narrow tunnels. It stretched on, with little in the way of light – soon enough it had become much darker, too much so to see... [Apartment] Rica laughed, shaking his head. “I would happily stalk you, darling, but I'm afraid it was this errand that brought me to town. I need to know the truth... and supposedly she is around here somewhere.” [Small Inn] Graham had taken to cleaning up with the help of a few simple spells. It was something that both he and Caitlin had grown quite accustomed to with long travels, and places where they stayed often lacked proper bathing facilities. When Liam returned, he gave a friendly smile. “It's been almost eight months now. The longest I've ever traveled with another person in a long time.” He gave a sigh, rubbing his neck. “... I'm sorry to involve you in this, but you know Cait, once she makes up her mind it's... very difficult to change it.” “Ugggghhhhh.” Caitlin covered her face with the pillow. She couldn't deny a thing her sister had said, but that didn't mean she actually wanted to talk about this. She hadn't ever accurately expressed herself with Graham... She sat up and frowned. “... Rue, there's more to it. Like I said, he doesn't open up, but I don't think that's just 'cause he's stubborn or shy or whatever. Something happened... he won't tell me what, but I can tell, you know? He's been through something bad.” Her frown deepened. “I mean... he did lose an eye somehow and replace it with magic. That's not normal, and he never talks about it; and I've asked! A lot...” |

-Hoshido- Tokohotsu Shrine Celeste landed, breathing heavily too. She was not damaged, but was not use to that much physical exertion, her excess magic mostly keeping her on her feet right now. “Oof... that was... something I don't wish to repeat...” Celeste said, slumping down to the ground as well to rest. -Nohr- Mountain Tunnel “And my name is Aiden. That's Didymus, and that's my father, Zadkiel,” Aiden said, introducing herself, Didymus, and her father, smiling at Vivi. As they went further and it got darker, Aiden produced her own fire, Zadkiel glowing brighter as well. Small Inn “Oh yah... I grew up with Caitlyn and Rue, they're my oldest friends,” Liam said, nodding. “Caitlyn would often come up with some wild ideas...” He smiled some. “And I don't mind! They are my friends, and I was planning on seeing them as it was. I do hope their parents will be okay with Rue traveling with me...” Apartment “Maybe...” Sage said, not having any powers himself, “Surprised she didn't try to contact your sister Elysia then too...” -Ylisse- Capitol Diarmund grimaced slightly as he was approached, supporting himself on one of his spheres. “It... is not. I bare word of a dark force approaching, some... demon of shadow. I attempted to defeat it, but...” he frowned, looking ashamed. “I was not strong enough... The king must be warned.” |

Nohr As the darkness grew thicker, Didymus continued his quiet supplications, and in turn, his own sword glowed with a blessed light, providing further illumination as they made their way quietly, but quickly, through the mountain pass. He was staying between Vivi and Garnet, and remaining alert, praying for guidance and the sight to see what wicked threats would approach them-or perhaps be down one particular pathway or another-so they could avoid them, or at least have fair warning at their approach... [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Tamamo sprung into action just in time, and aided suddenly by a buzzing hornet spirit that immediately dove right into her purification rite and added its own connection to the spiritual to the mix, Tamamo's magic surged and bit deep into the Onryoki's flesh. It was already regenerating, slowly recovering from the incredible wounds Musashi left upon it, but it was weakened, and the kitsune's current action completely shredded any and all attempts to recover as the ofuda charms settled on it, but deep and lit up, suddenly bathing the entire shrine in a blast of light that was impossible to look at. And just like that, it became easier to breathe. The corruption of the shrine, so centered on the Onryoki, was banished almost instantaneously, the red sky fading away into a normal, sunny glow of twilight as the sun set on the horizon. The malice in the air vanished just as quickly, and as the light faded away, it signified the disappearance of the demon heads, and it revealed something entirely different where the Onryoki's body used to be. There was a man where the demon used to be. Dressed in tatters that used to be priest robes, quite expired and motionless, but a man nonetheless. Silver-haired and aged, his upper torso was bare of any clothing, covered entirely in markings and designs that were decidedly foreign to Hoshido. In fact, none of the symbols were of Hoshido origin at all. What they DID resemble, however, were the alchemical markings and designs used by the alchemists of Nohr... And in the very center of the design, pulsing like a second heart, was a blood-red crystal embedded right into the middle of the man's chest. |

[Small Inn] Rue gave a small frown, now looking down at her lap as her sister explained Graham's issue....Or better he lack of understanding what his issue was... “I mean... he did lose an eye somehow and replace it with magic. That's not normal, and he never talks about it; and I've asked! A lot...” "Well I guess you can't force it on him...Trying to get people to talk about painful stuff sometimes makes them shut down even more after all...I don't really know how to approach something that bad though...I know it's best to talk about about trauma...That's what dad says-" Suddenly she looked back up, staring at her sister. "T-Thank you, by the way. For being here and stuff. If any of those bandits attacked while I was alone..Well....I'm just glad it didn't." It was a sudden change in topic, but it really needed to be said. [Apartment] "Well I appreciate you telling me" Kanna said, heading back to the door. She paused, looking back at the man. "You know...If you need help . Well i'm pretty sure I owe you for one thing or another..." [...] "In all truth it's just a guess" Joyce admitted, a small blush on her face. "I was pretty surprised to hear from her after these last few years- and really i'm not even her favorite or anything-" She motioned back to Blake, but lowered her voice towards Sage. "His powers are ten times stronger than mine. And they incorporate grandma's too...Mine are just my dad's." Edited by Crystal Rose, Oct 5 2017, 06:39 PM.

[Ylisse] [Capitol] In an instant, the young woman ran over to Diarmund and put her arm around his shoulder so she could help support him. She frowned, biting down on her lip as she saw the state he was in. He was known as the finest Lancer in all of Ylisse, there were none better with a spear... and he was in this state. That was worrisome. “Save your strength. You were strong enough to escape and bring warning and that is all that matters. Let me help you inside, we will warn the King together.” [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Tamamo was overjoyed when the foul creature, and the corruption it had sewn so completely, vanished away – but that smile slowly faded when she saw the man. She couldn't quite tell if he was alive or dead, but her eyes – and her senses – were drawn to that crystal embedded in his chest. She shivered slightly, not sure what it was, but certainly it was problematic. She stepped forward, past where Musashi knelt, and moved beside the man. An ofuda charm appeared in her hand and she tossed it at the crystal, attempting to wrap it around so she could try to remove it without directly touching it... [Nohr] [Mountain Tunnel] As the group moved, silence fell over them. Garnet shivered slightly. She could feel unusual magics around them, but she had neither the training or the skill to know what it meant. It was all too new for her to comprehend. Didymus, however, had a far more refined sense. The sinister imprint of evil was everywhere, though mostly in small doses. Whatever had happened in these tunnels, something truly twisted and evil had happened, so much so that its taint was still visible. Then he would feel it, as they made their way down the tunnel. A feeling similar to that of the other barrels, but so much more potent. Cold, harsh and sickening – the unmistakable sensation of evil, but this was not a trace on the walls or floors, this was something so much more potent and moving quickly towards them. Whatever it was, it was coming towards them, though it seemed as if it was coming from the wall itself – and then - A horrible figure emerged from the walls, a tall skeleton clad in horribel armor with terrible spikes protruding from its bones and cerulean armor. The Skeleton was hardly alone; three more emerged from the walls behind it, their hands sparkling with blue flames! [Small Inn] “Well, that much hasn't changed.” Graham shook his head and smiled. Then that smile quickly faded. “What are their parents like? Cait doesn't talk about them often. She barely mentioned her sister. She always seemed to miss them too much when the subject would come up...” Caitlin frowned, still hugging the pillow and trying to make sense of all this. It was nice talking about it with someone though – and it was nice to see Rue again. Then she frowned again, when Rue changed the subject. “You don't have to thank me for stuff like that. I'd never let anybody hurt you.” Caitlin smiled at her sister, and then she sat up. “... but really, what the heck was mom thinking letting you travel on your own? It's way too dangerous! Geez...” [Apartment] Rica paused. He wasn't sure if he wanted Kanna's help on this... it was all too awkward; but then pretty much everything related to the two of them was a big cloud of awkward, soaked in booze and bad decisions. “I... could use some help. But you've got the grandkids to worry about... why are they here, anyway?” |

[Apartment] "Well to be fair I only thought Joyce was coming. The other's were a surprise." Kanna said with a shrug. "I thought she could possible help me with some things-" Probably illegal things. "Of course, now the others are here...Though I have to admit Blake has always been quite interesting. Melanie would never let me delve deeper into his powers..." [Small Inn] “You don't have to thank me for stuff like that. I'd never let anybody hurt you.” Rue gave a tiny smile back. While she and Caitlin sometimes didn't get along she really adored her sister. "I appreciate that...I mean I know i'm not that strong...You'll have to teach me a few things if mom and dad let me travel with you guys" “... but really, what the heck was mom thinking letting you travel on your own? It's way too dangerous! Geez...” "To be honest she didn't want me to, but dad was leaving for a call all the way in Hoshido and knew he wouldn't be back in time to do it himself. I practically had to beg, I really need the experience so she said yes. Though i'm still expected to be back tommorow....She'll probably send a search party out if I don't make it...Probably won't help the whole letting me go with you Liam and you guys either..." Rue sighed, running a hand though her hair. "Caitlin...Can I ask you one more thing....You don't have to answer if you can't but...." Rue sucked in a bit of air, feeling a bit sick again. "How do you deal with it....Seeing bodies like that? I mean i've seen people who I knew weren't gonna make it back at home, we both have, but....Earlier...That was different..." |

[Apartment] Rica raised an eyebrow. He wasn't sure what trouble Kanna wanted to get Joyce mixed up in, but it was probably bad... but her comment about Blake was potentially worse. “Careful, Kanna. Sometimes you delve too deep and you end up wishing you didn't.” Rica spoke quietly, cryptically. He was no stranger to seeking out power, especially dangerous power, and he knew what it could sometimes mean. He paused. “... but that girl Blake summons up... she's interesting. Doesn't seem to like me.” And for once it's probably not just because you're a creeper. [Small Inn] Caitlin sighed. It made more sense now, that Rue would be sent only if there was no other choice. She sighed, running her hand down her neck. She had always wanted to shelter her sister from some of the harsher realities of the world, but Rue wasn't a kid anymore... she had seen just how nasty the world was today, and she still wanted to travel. “... Alright then! I'll just have to toughen you up. By the time I'm done with you, you'll be fine!” Caitlin decided. Then she hesitated, as Rue's voice became shakier and she asked the question. Caitlin's previous exuberance vanished. “. . . Yeah, I know. It's different when it's someone who died violently... especially... well, especially when you're the one who...” She trailed off, instinctively reaching behind her back and pulling out the knife she had used in the fight. She had cleaned it, but she could still see small traces of blood near the blade's hilt that she missed before. “... It's not easy, and that's good. It shouldn't be easy. And it should never feel good, or be fun. Hurting someone... or worse, that's something you should always try to avoid... but if you have to... if you really don't have a choice, like what happened tonight... then you just have to do it. You can't hesitate and you can't be scared, you just have to make sure you survive.” She bit her lip. “... and then after, you just gotta remind yourself that you HAD to... that if you didn't, then you would be the one who was gone, or sometimes worse...” |

[Apartment] “Careful, Kanna. Sometimes you delve too deep and you end up wishing you didn't.” "It's nothing I can't handle. I wouldn't make Joyce do anything that would get her killed- anyways she's smart and quite beautiful. I'm sure she could be quite cunning if she wanted to as well. It's a dangerous, but profitable, combination if you are all three." “... but that girl Blake summons up... she's interesting. Doesn't seem to like me.” Kanna frowned a bit. "That girl....Blake's powers...She fears you because she can sense your powers. She knows you have the ability to make her go away. It's like self-preservation for her, keeping away from us. But she's also influencing Blake I think...." [Small Inn] “... and then after, you just gotta remind yourself that you HAD to... that if you didn't, then you would be the one who was gone, or sometimes worse...” "Worse...." Rue said sadly, pulling her knees to her chest, staring at the knife in Caitlin's hand. "I know I may have to eventually, but I dunno if I ever could kill someone, even in self-defense. I mean one of those guys grabbed me and all I could think was to kick him in the face....Granted it worked but still...." The girl sighed once more, unsure why she ruined to upbeat mood with all this.... "Boys at school used to tell stories about pirates and bandits coming through whole towns and killing everyone in sight. And who they didn't kill they'd take along on their ships and back to their camps to be consorts or slaves. I never thought any of that was true because how could people be so bad you know? But now....Well...." |

[Apartment] “It's a dangerous, but profitable, combination if you are all three.” “Well you would know,” Rica smirked slightly as he watched her from behind the dark glasses. “... Can't imagine Melanie would be thrilled if you turn her daughter into your apprentice, but if Joyce does half-as-well with herself as you have, she'll be pretty successful.” He chuckled slightly, until the subject returned to Blake and Samara. It was intriguing – and worrisome – if Samara could sense his powers. That could be problematic. “Influencing him how? I don't get it... seems like Blake can't control his power, and she's trying to control him. I've seen that go bad before.” [Small Inn] Caitlin frowned. She didn't like the idea of Rue ever having to kill someone. It went against the image she had of her sister – but what bothered her a hundred times worse were all the things that could happen if Rue was in a bad situation and didn't. “That stuff is true, Rue. It's not nice to think about, but... there's some really bad people out there. Pirates and bandits are just the tip of it, too... that's why you gotta be able to protect yourself. You can't count on me or Liam being nearby...” She paused, and then held out the dagger for Rue. “So let me teach you. 'cause I don't ever want something to happen to you...” |

[Apartment] "Blake thinks of her as a friend rather than something created from his own powers. He would no doubt listen to her if she told him to do something. He trusts her, and i'm pretty sure she knows that." Kanna explained. "Granted I doubt she wants him dead or anything, after all that would kill her too. But either way she's very strong. Melanie once mentioned she could shift from a teenage girl, to a child, to a grown woman if she wanted." Rica isn't allowed to creep on his grandson's powers btw. [Small Inn] “So let me teach you. 'cause I don't ever want something to happen to you...” Rue didn't want to know what was out there that was worse than bandits or pirates, but she had a feeling she would find out soon enough so she gave a nod and took the knife from Caitlin's hands, holding it a bit awkwardly in her own. "Have you had to kill a lot of people with this?" she asked "What if they're stronger than you?" |

[Apartment] “So what DOES she want? If she's an extension of his powers, it's not like she has some goal of her own, does she? I don't get it.” Rica shook his head. Then he paused – she could be a grown woman? One of his eyebrows raised, but he decided it was probably not good to creep on a shadow girl who was sort of his grandson. Even for Rica, that was a bit dark. [Small Inn] “No, I try not to get into situations where I have to kill someone... and usually if you just hurt someone enough they'll run away and then you don't have to kill anyone... but sometimes you don't have a choice.” Caitlin frowned, as she moved over and moved Rue's hands, so she was holding the dagger better. “This is magic. See those runes on the handle? You just touch them and it will do stuff. It can shoot off these little beams that can cut stuff from a distance. But you need to know how to actually use it, too...” |

[Apartment] "I don't really understand it either, but perhaps it's not the worst thing that Blake came. If it gives me a chance to learn more about his powers than it was worth the trouble...Who knows what a boy like that is capable of." [Small Inn] Rue allowed Caitlin to help her, staring down at the runes on the handle as she pointed them out. She quickly looked back up. "Wait, you can do magic?!" Both girls had the ability to heal, but that wasn't really magic...Even if normal people thought it was. It was more of something they were born with. But this... "Where did you get this?" |
