GRAPPLING HOOK!

[Nohr] [River] “Turns out dad is kinda famous... he never mentioned anything, but he fought a bunch of stuff back when he was young.” Rue really wanted to ask Caitlin what she meant (she actually had more questions for her sister in the last few hours than in all of their childhoods) but she held her tounge for the moment, deciding to continue forward in silence. She had never heard anything about her father being particularly heroic- of course he was heroic in the sense of saving lives with his healing, but nothing like fighting bandits and monsters- Suddenly the girl blinked, spotting a dim light in the distance. Instantly the girl stiffened, but once she noticed that it wasn't moving she realized it was a building. Scattered amongst the countryside much like this were rest stops and inns, usually reserved for the rail workers and other laborers who had to travel and work in the desolate areas. This inn wasn't huge, and looked a bit worn with age, but surely it would be a sight for sore eyes for the group. A small flickering flame in a solitary lamp told weary travelers that there was a vacancy. [Train Station] Joyce's eyes lit up at the rose made of ice, taking it carefully from her grandfather. "What are you doing here?" "Yes. What are you doing here" Kanna echoed, though much more accusingly. Meanwhile Samara continued to watch on as Blake explained the man's identity. She then stepped forward, eyes narrowed at Rica. "You're evil...." "Samara!" Joyce exclaimed, whipping around to Blake "Control her!" |

[Nohr] [Train Station] “I came to see my wonderful grandchildren, of course!” Rica smiled innocently towards Joyce – and also towards Kanna, although he knew that only one of them had a chance of believing him. “Hello, Blake!” Rica smiled down at his grandson – and then his eyes lingered a bit on Samara. He watched her – until she spoke up, calling him evil. Rica's grin didn't even budge as he stared at the strange little girl. “Well now, Blake, I can't say I approve of your little friend.” Rica shrugged, standing back up and raising an eyebrow in Kanna's direction. Although he could tell something was 'off' about Samara, he wasn't an expert in this field. [River] Upon spotting the inn in the distance, Caitlin felt excitement surge through her. An inn would be perfect – warm, dry and hopefully with comfortable beds much nicer than camping in the itchy grass somewhere. “We're saved! Let's hurry up and get in there and out of this muck!” |

[Nohr] [Train Station] Samara didn't seem to back down, now moving in front of Blake (despite the fact that the teenage boy was taller than her), red eyes still on Rica. "Your magic...Where did you steal it from" "That's not how powers work" Joyce explained, now wondering why she was trying to explain the concept of powers to a not real girl who her brother poofed into existence. [River] Rue nodded pulling herself out of the river wish a shiver and heading towards the small inn in the distance. Despite it looking close it was much farther than she could have guessed, the group walking almost another whole mile before stumbling through the doors. The sight of four wet, dirty and bloodied young adults was enough to at least garner a slight brow raise from the owner of the inn, an older woman who looked like she had dealt with much stranger in her years. "May I help you?" From the back room came a cheer and shout, the sounds of glasses clinking. Rue had never stayed at such a place but she assumed there was probably some sort of bar in the back. She inched a bit closer to Liam, staying quiet. Last thing she wanted to deal with were more rowdy and potentially dangerous men. |

Nohr [Mountain Tunnels] Didymus did not like this. There were PLENTY of things that may not have registered with this blessed vision to detect particularly unholy taint that were still dangerous, to say nothing of whether or not they truly saw everything evil or only just the most specific and dangerous of those things, or something of that sort... ...part of him was screaming in his mind that this was AT BEST a waste of valuable time-and quite possibly far worse than that. But faith had taught, and duty as a Paladin was clear-this HAD to be followed up on. If there was even a CHANCE of saving something that could be saved here from this realm of witchcraft and darkness... He was quiet for a moment...then spoke. "I've a better idea. We BOTH stand at the ready, then see what happens when I greet what's in there. If it is a person, hopefully and Lord willing...they will respond." He paused again, before looking at the barrel, and speaking a bit more loudly, though he did not shout. "Hello! Is someone in there?" |

[Nohr] [Train] Rica stared down at Samara, and the smile was still on his face – but there was something suddenly dangerous about it. For a moment the usual chipper creeper mask slipped away, revealing a much darker and more dangerous Rica. “... What a charming little friend you have here, Blake.” Rica's voice was quiet. Behind his glasses, he was staring at Samara, trying to figure out just what she was. He wasn't sure he liked his grandchildren spending time with her, wherever she came from. “My magic is mine. The reward for my doing a great many things.” Rica answered her, and then he simply turned away. This would be... interesting. [Small Inn] Caitlin stepped forward, not wasting any time. She looked over at the older woman and gave a large grin. “Hey there! We need a couple of rooms for the night! We're just simple travelers, but we've had one hellova night.” The cheering and shouting from the back didn't even seem to phase her. Compared to what had already happened, she could handle a few rowdy drunks. [Mountain Tunnels] The shaking of the barrel stopped. Whatever was inside had come to a complete halt when Didymus spoke towards it. Then, after a moment, came a quiet voice. It was soft and timid, and sounded much like a child. “H-H-Hello? Um... where am I? Who is out there?” |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] The woman eyed Caitlin but pulled out two keys. "Just how old are you lot?" she asked, then shaking her head "I don't care. I have two rooms, what do you have for me?" Rue pulled out the few coins she managed to still have in her dress. The girl then placed them down on the counter. The woman didn't look impressed. "Not enough" |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] Caitlin frowned. She didn't have much in the way of money on her – and as she cast a glance at Graham, she saw him shake his head and realized he didn't either. It was definitely problematic. She paused, sat down on the floor and took off her boot and turned it upside down – knocking on the end as quite a bit of water splashed out, and then a few gold coins tumbled out. She slipped her boot back on and stood up. “Here! And if this isn't enough for two rooms, we'll just take one and the boys will just have to sleep outside.” Caitlin decided. Graham sighed loudly, but was far too tired to argue. |

-Nohr- Small Inn “At this time of night, are you likely to get any other travelers?” Liam asked, “This should surely be enough.” He did have a sword quite visible on his belt. Train Station Blake glanced towards Samara, then to his grandfather. He did feel... something... off, from Rica, but... he was family, right? “It's okay... Samara, they're family,” Blake said to the shadow girl. “Grandpa won't hurt us.” Mountain Tunnels “There's someone trapped!” Aiden said, preparing to move forward to open the barrel. Zadkiel stepped forward, holding out his arm, stopping his daughter. “I will open it...” Zadkiel said, “Be ready.” He stepped forward, grabbing one end of the barrel, forcing the top to open! |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] The woman looked at their measly pile of (wet) coins and then her eyes went to Liam...And his sword. She scoffed loudly, tossing them the keys on the counter. "Fine. But no trouble out of any of you! I already have enough on my hands" Rue gave a sigh of relief, taking one of the keys and looking to Liam and Graham. "Will you two be alright?" she asked softly. [Train Station] Rica's stare and grin was quite unsettling, so much so that Samara only snapped out of it when Blake spoke to her. She gave a little jump, turning back to him. "If you are sure...." she said, now eying him. The next thing she said a bit quieter. "But you aren't..." Kanna stepped in. "Come along children, we shouldn't spend too much time here...And you, Rica. Are you coming then too?" |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] “They'll be fine.” Caitlin insisted. “Now let's get up to our room! I need to dry off.” Graham walked over and picked up the other key, and he just shook his head. It was interesting to watch how Caitlin acted around her sister... it was a very different thing to see, but he knew better than to be too visibly amused. [Train Station] Rica smiled down at Blake and suddenly tussled his hair a bit. “I'd never let anything bad happen to you kiddos.” Because he's a regular grandpa of the year. He then spun around and looked over to Kanna. “I might as well! I've finished my business in town and you know I can't help but stalk you whenever we run into each other.” [Mountain Tunnels] When Zadkiel moved forward and opened the end of the barrel, it fell over on its side and something came tumbling out. At first it was hard to tell, looking a lot like a pile of over-sized clothes – but then they could see that there was someone in the clothes. He looked like a small child, although his face was hidden away behind a tall steeple hat. His facial features weren't visible. His body was almost like a swirling black mass, it didn't look quite like skin – just a fluff ball of darkness with two large, yellow eyes. “P-Please don't hurt me... I'm sorry I had to go in the barrel...” He spoke with the same child-like voice. Garnet stepped forward, frowning, leaning down. “No one will hurt you.” |

-Nohr- Small Inn “Don't worry about us,” Liam said to Rue, “And if you need anything, feel free to wake me up.” He meant like help dealing with people or stuff like that. Probably? Train Station Blake's hair was tussled, which probably didn't do much to his already fairly wild red hair. He just smiled softly, taking Samara's hand. “It's okay though. We can't always be sure about everything after all.” Mountain Tunnels Zadkiel kept his sword up, eying the strange child carefully. “Are you okay?” Aiden asked, worried as well as she looked at him, concern apparent in her voice. |

[Nohr] [Small Inn] Rue looked back at Graham and Liam (once again blushing) once more before rushing after her sister, the two coming across their room after a few moments of searching. Once inside and safe Rue disappeared into the bathroom, feeling rather sick after everything in the last few hours. Fortunately the feeling passed after a few minutes and the girl was able to force herself to wash up. Finally she emerged, long hair wet and curly down her back and most of her bloodied clothes soaking in the tub. She sat down on the bed in her dress slip with a wet cloth in hand. "Sit down" she ordered Caitlin. "I know you got hurt, i'll heal you" [Train Station] "What kind of business did you have in town?" Joyce couldn't help but to ask as she and the others were lead to a coach obviously made for only two or three people- Kanna wasn't expecting such a party. Everyone squeezed in though and soon they were on their way to her apartment. Samara stared forward, looking uncomfortable. Though it wasn't because of Rica....They were ALL much too close. [Nohr] [Coach] As everyone squeezed into the coach, Rica decided to be merciful and make some room – he suddenly melted into a puddle of water, which wormed its way up to the ceiling of the coach, hanging above them. A large drop began to hang down from the center – which then formed back into Rica's head. Rica, now a head hanging down from the puddle on the ceiling, smiled down at them. “I was looking for someone Joyce.” He finally answered as if nothing strange had happened since she asked her question. “But I haven't had any luck finding them yet.” [Small Inn] Soon enough Graham and Liam would be in their own room. Graham rubbed his neck as they made it to the room, looking around and deciding it would be an alright place to sleep. “You can clean up first, if you'd like.” He offered. […] While Rue disappeared to the bathroom to clean herself up, Caitlin was far less worried about it. She quickly tossed her wet clothes in the corner, and then grabbed her traveling pack. Although it didn't look very large, she opened it and pulled out some dry clothes, a small silver vial and a washcloth before carefully sealing it back up. She poured some liquid from the vial onto the washcloth and then proceeded to scrub away some of the dirt, blood and river water. No matter how much liquid she poured out of the vial, it didn't seem to run out – and it did a surprisingly good job cleaning her up. By the time Rue returned, Caitlin was looking overall better. When Rue made her demand, Caitlin sighed and walked over. “... It's nothing too bad.” She answered at length as she pulled up her shirt to reveal the rather nasty cut on her side, and another on her shoulder. “I mean, I've had worse.” Not reassuring. [Mountain Tunnel] The small child scooted back, his large yellow eyes looking at Zadkiel and Didymus and their blades. He didn't know who any of these people were, or what the symbol some of them wore on their clothes and armor meant. “Y-You don't look like the usual guys...” He said quietly. As Aiden approached, he looked up at her and nodded. “I... I guess I'm okay. I just don't want to get in trouble... I'm always in trouble...” |

Nohr Didymus heard the voice, and reached out when Zadkiel opened the barrel, wanting to warn him not to touch it. Still, the milder voice, as well as the confused, timid figure rolling out of the barrel isn't really what he could say he'd been expecting. Still, he stepped to ensure he was standing directly between this strange...person(?) and Garnet... "You're not in trouble..." he said. What better security system than one that denies knowledge of local operations? Something that isn't as clearly evil as the rest of it? Not every bit of wickedness or heresy is necessarily seen by our sight...he's probably patched into some tracking network or warning system, even if he doesn't know it, tracking our every move and warning more clear horrors as to our presence... ...be that as it may, I don't have PROOF that's the case, there's still a chance he's someone needing rescue...and as such...duty and faith demand a less cautious approach...please, Father, shield us... "We mustn't linger." he said. "Whoever you are...proper introductions can wait. We need to get out of these caverns as quickly as possible...if you desire to come with us, you may, otherwise, stay here." Edited by The Vidit of Light, Sep 30 2017, 02:39 PM.

[Nohr] [Coach] Once again Samara looked a mix of terrified and pissed off at Rica's display, leading the girl to grab at Blake's arm once more. She didn't like this man not at all. Something about him was very off- Well moreso than the fact that his head was suspended from the roof of the coach. Luckily no one could see in. "Looking for someone?" Joyce repeated "Someone dangerous I assume" Kanna added. [Small Inn] "... It's nothing too bad. I mean, I've had worse.” Rue's eyes widened considerably as Caitlin lifted her shirt to reveal two painful looking gashes. The girl knew her sister had the ability to heal as well, but it was something that took a lot of concentration and energy to do on yourself.... and considering neither of those things were available in the middle of a fight... "That doesn't make me feel better" Rue said going to work and placing her glowing hands on her sister's biggest wound. After a few moments it began to close slowly. As she continued to heal she stared down but spoke. "So do you and Graham stay at places like this a lot?" Perhaps not the best subject, but it would sure break the tension. |
