[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] The revenant was still recovering from Celest's attack, and the last of the missiles haven't even struck it yet when Tamamo jumped in at just the right moment to capitalize on its weakness. A torrent of flame, so hot it was white at its core, washed over the revenant and caught it completely off-guard. It seized up, the vortex of orange and white bathing it in flame... And simply disintegrated under the assault as the curse that kept it moving gave way. The revenant's spiritual presence vanished that very same moment. As the group stood victorious over the field of battle, it was suddenly once more as quiet as the grave. Not a single animal's call, not a single rustle of wind. The air was still as oppressive as before, even though so many of the befouled guardians of the shrine were now motionless. Then, the silence was broken by two loud claps as Hiko clashed his hands together, leaving the both of them before him and bowing his head slightly. A moment of silence and prayer offered to the dead samurai that have previously stood in place to defend the shrine from evil, now purged of their curse. Wishing their spirits well, Hiko gave them just a moment of respect... But it was apparently enough to attract attention. Without any warning, it felt as though the whole world went black and white. For just a brief flash of a moment, something... Revealed itself. The sensation came and went, but it sent an unmistakeable signal to everyone and everything on the shrine grounds. Something awoke. And then, a terrible roar, like that of a monstrosity rising from the depths of the deepest burning pits cut through the air... |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Musashi froze as he heard the roar. Whatever it was, it was on a completely different level. The zombie samurai and the skeletal warriors had only been a symptom of the corruption at this shrine, and not the cause. Whatever was behind the roar – behind the feeling that shot past them all – it was something far beyond these shrine guardians. Tamamo paused, her unseen ears twitching. She took a step forward and frowned, a single tooth peeking out from her closed lips. “Stay on your toes! There's something way worse down here...” |

[Carriage] “Well I'm just grateful to have a carriage ride. A lot better than walking.” Rue looked across to Graham and Caitlin, frowning a bit. With a slight jolt the coach began to move. "Do you guys have to walk a lot?" she asked. "I mean i'm sure if you asked mom and dad they'd...." She trailed off, cheeks pink. Asking for money would mean Caitlin would have to admit she was traveling with a man. A man who had a weirdly undefined relationship with her older sister...Speaking of which.... "So.....You and my sister...Cait, what are you gonna tell mom and dad when we make it home" She'd probably make Graham wait in the woods or something. Well at least Liam could come in.... [Train] The group traveled in silence for quite awhile before the scenery turned from barren land to another city....At this point Joyce had fallen asleep, leaning against Sage and snoring lightly. Samara on the other hand was wide awake, not needing to sleep. [...] Meanwhile a woman had only just arrived at the train station wearing a tight black dress and looking quite serious...She stuck out in her choice of clothing in the middle of the day, but she didn't really care what other people thought of her. She was above them all. |

-Hoshido- Tokohotsu Shrine “Sounds like fun...” Celeste sighed, waving her hands as she focused a couple spells, her body glowing for a moment as magical energy wrapped around her. “What is it?” -Nohr- House The house was nicely furnished, though everything seemed to be kept under sheets. Zadkiel removed a few to allow access to chairs, sitting down on one himself. “Sometimes the proper thing to do seems foolish, because there are those will try to stop you,” Zadkiel spoke up to Garnet. “There remains hope still, and our mission is a worthy one.” Aiden smiled towards her father. She always felt better around him, he was a relentlessly positive person. Carriage “I prefer walking, myself,” Liam said, looking a little sheepish. “You can see more and move off the beaten track! Which is dangerous if you don't know what you're doing, I admit.” Edda had definitely made sure his son knew what he was doing. Train Sage looked very nervous as Joyce fell asleep against him, though after some time the movement of the train lulled him to sleep as well. Blake had his eyes closed, but they opened when Sage went to sleep, looking towards Samara. “Samara... do you ever wish you were your own person?” Blake asked quietly, so as not to wake the others. |

[Nohr] [Carriage] “All the time,” Graham smiled as he looked over at Rue. “A lot of the places we trek to aren't exactly on the map, and besides, Cait has other 'budget priorities' whenever we do actually have some coin-” “HEY!” Caitlin shouted, kicking Graham in his shin. He winced, but also laughed at her reaction, and the way her cheeks had turned a pinkish hue. “Just... just sit quietly, Graham! I mean it.” She paused, ready to let the subject drop, until Rue asked the rather obvious question. Cait's cheeks doubled in their redness and she frowned, leaning back and crossing her arms. She didn't even want to think about what their parents would assume if they knew she was traveling with a guy... “... Graham is one of Liam's friends.” Caitlin decided suddenly, glancing at Liam. “Right, Liam?” [House] Garnet did not reply, but instead just moved to take a seat on the chair. She sighed, looking around the house and trying to clear her head. “... They won't give up hunting me, and the longer we wait, the longer they have to fortify the roads and make escape impossible.” |

Nohr [House] Though wary as usual, Didymus stepped into the house. Hearing Garnet's question, he paused, thinking of something he could say, but finding doubts that a princess of Nohr would want to hear it all the same. Correct on his thoughts or otherwise, Zadkiel spoke first, and he decided he need not say more. Till Garnet spoke again of the effects of delay. "Then we should not delay any longer than necessary." he said. "We hid to simply escape the notice of our adversaries, the moment we can be sure we've slipped it and can remain concealed, we should head out." Galdwin [Castle] Rin would find that Richard II met her gaze, and there was something else, too, in his eyes, meeting her. When Gallic spoke, he replied. "Indeed. And those larger issues can provide quite a diversion from other things, can't they?" "Richard!" Elanor said. His father simply raised an eyebrow. "Indeed, my boy, those larger issues do have a tendency to draw one's gaze-and even rightly so." |

[Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] Hiko calmly looked aside at Celeste's question, and answered only with one word. "Onryoki." And with that single word, he simply walked up the steps, completely heedless of the roar or the apprehension that it might have caused. Even after the fight, he still looked absolutely pristine, not a single cut or wound upon him, his haori completely spotless of blood or dust. As serenely as any lake on a calm day, the smiling swordsman ascended the steps to see inside the shrine grounds. Total devastation. That was the only way to describe the grounds of the shrine. The main building was ruined, completely flattened as though something has come in and flattened every stone, powdered every wooden plank, burned everything that could burn and then scattered the ashes. Nothing was left of the main structure except the stone foundation, which remained like some demented arena. Behind the ruins of the main building was the secondary building which was used as housing for the priests and miko of the shrine, and while it still stood, it was an empty building and leaned heavily on one side, one of its walls entirely gone, as though something enormous punched its way inward. In the center of the grounds between the ruins of the main building and the entrance of the shrine stood a withered husk of a tree, old and dead white wood gleaming in the red light of the bloody sun. White bark peeled from the old rotting wood, and it looked as though the tree itself bled red, though whether that was just a trick of the light or something more was unknown without further, closer examination. And standing in the center of the remaining stone foundation of the main building stood an enormous hulking form, its back to the entrance of the shrine, hunched over as though cradling something. Slowly, it set something white upon the ground and slowly turned, the sound of heavy chains dragging with its every movement, revealing an enormous, demonic monstrosity, as tall as four men standing on each other's shoulders, hunched over and dragging great weights chained to its limbs, like a prisoner that has escaped from the depths of depravity. Two brightly glowing horns illuminated its twisted, snarling visage, and it snorted in displeasure when it saw the figures entering the temple grounds. Hiko looked upon the creature and sighed, his face losing its smile for the second time this day. "... Is this what you have decided then..." |

[Nohr] [Carriage] Rue wasn't sure if her father and mother would believe that Graham was just Liam's friend, but she decided not to raise any problems with Caitlin's plan lest she get snapped at by her older sister. She still had SO many questions she wanted to ask Graham about his and her sister's time together so best hope Caitlin's planned worked. The carriage continued on without much fanfare through the evening, Rue watching as the sun slowly sunk on the horizon. Now it was almost pitch black outside, and the air became at least fiften degrees cooler. She gave a little shiver, pulling out her jacket from her pack. "You all best keep quiet from here until sunrise" the driver warned quietly. "While i'm well versed in riding this trail it's best to keep our heads down and not attract any unwanted attention." Rue tried to squint, as far as she could see they were alone out here.... [Train] Samara was looking out the window when Blake addressed her, the girl gave a liitle jump before turning to him. She could have sworn he was sleeping... “Samara... do you ever wish you were your own person?” Samara looked back towards the window. She knew nothing of being her own person, only ever being a part of Blake's powers...She wasn't even sure if it was possible. "I...Don't know....Is it nice being your own person?" she asked "I mean....I've always been a part of you, I can't imagine not being....But I have thought about it before...Is that okay?" |

[Nohr] [Carriage] Caitlin frowned a bit as the driver advised them to stay quiet. She wondered just what could be out there that had him so spooked... Nohr had a history with dark and unsettling creatures. There were all manner of dangerous animals and magical beasts that roamed this dark land, although for the most part the Dark Knights did a good job at keeping them away from the cities. But this place... they were more off the beaten path on the carriage ride. “What's out there?” Caitlin asked the driver. [House] “What of Cecil, and Cid?” Garnet asked Didymus. “Will they be able to find us?” [Hoshido] [Tokohotsu Shrine] When the monstrous demonic creature appeared, Musashi could only frown at the sight of it. This was beyond anything he had come across in his past – huge, twisted and filled with blight. He didn't have to be a spiritual medium to sense the intense evil radiating from this creature. Pain and anguish, anger and discontentment. “Well, at least we've found what caused the corruption...” Musashi frowned, as he held his swords in his hands. Tamamo watched it and felt taken aback. She hadn't expected something like this when she agreed to help – but now that she saw this thing, she knew it was far more dangerous than she could have ever imagined. She snapped her fingers, slipping her hand behind her back and then suddenly she was holding a mirror clasped firmly in her claws. |

[Nohr] [Carriage] "Monsters, both man and creature alike." the man said, keeping his eyes on the trail. "Bandits who want nothing more than money and young woman like you two-" From her spot Rue stiffened, looking out once again. "-and creatures who don't discriminate between men and women, everyone is fair game for their next meal." "There aren't really monsters out there? Are there?" Rue asked her sister. "I mean, you guys would know right?" "You think i'm lying girl? These roads are dangerous if you don't know what you're doing." |

[Nohr] [Carriage] “Of course there are monsters! Geez Rue, how did you even make it on your own?” Caitlin frowned, crossing her arms. “There's all kinds of vicious beasts!” “Most of the nastier ones are deep in the forests, or in caves.” Graham chimed in, trying to keep Rue from getting too scared. “Bandits on the other hand are prevalent on the roads... but we shouldn't have to worry too much.” Caitlin shrugged. “Most bandits are just idiots anyway. Graham and I have dealt with them before. Though it's annoying so hopefully we won't run into any...” |

[Nohr] [Carriage] Rue tried not to look nervous, instead she glared at her sister as she went on about the beasts hidden in the darkness. Despite how much Caitlin annoyed her it was reassuring that everyone here (except for her) had dealt with both beasts and bandits before. With a small sigh the girl sunk into her seat and closed her eyes. [...] Little did they know that not too far away waited exactly what their coach driver warned them about. A group of a dozen bandits waited for passing coaches in order to steal from and slaughter their inhabitants. They had done it many times before, their weapons still warm with the blood from their last attack. "There's another coming up" One man called out from his horse. The other men readied their own mounts, and drew back their bows. First step would be taking out the horse, then the group wouldn't be able to escape. |

-Nohr- Carriage “I suppose Graham is now one of my friends...” Liam said carefully, though he looked uncomfortable at the idea of telling even a small lie at that. Liam was a very honest young man. At the mention of bandits, he smiled towards Rue, tapping the hilt of his sword. “Don't worry, if we come across any monsters or bandits, I'll protect you, Rue.” House “Yes, we can stay here for a couple minutes, at least,” Zadkiel said, carefully checking out the window. He knew the wards in the house would keep him from being seen, but was still wary. “It does not look like there is pursuit here.” Train “Of course it's okay!” Blake smiled at Samara, then nodded thoughtfully. “Even if you do become your own person, we'd still be friends, too!” Blake was relentlessly positive. “Maybe grandma will know a way you can be...” -Hoshido- Tokohotsu Shrine “Well... that's not good...” Celeste muttered, feeling her magic swell. “What even is that thing?” She was prepared to unleash a torrent of arcane destruction on it though. -Galdwin- Castle Gallic stared at Richard II for a long moment, almost as if sizing the boy up. “I have heard that the devil is in the details,” Gallic said, “They should not be overlooked. I suppose it depends on which details you are looking at.” Edited by AGodofIrony, Aug 20 2017, 06:12 PM.

-Nohr- [Carriage] “Don't worry, if we come across any monsters or bandits, I'll protect you, Rue.” Rue felt a bit more reassured at Liam's words, the girl giving a small smile at his declaration. The coach continued on it's way for several more minutes without much fuss. Suddenly a glint of metal flashed outside the carriage causing Rue to look up from her spot. Several more flew by and before she could ask what they were the horse which was pulling them made an agonizing noise, falling to the ground and tipping the carriage to the side. Rue gave a yelp, clutching onto her seat as they fell over, the girl looking around in a panic. The horse was down, several arrows embedded in it's neck. The coach driver had fallen from his spot as well, scrambling for his own weapon and calling out to the teenagers. "Y-You lot stay in there! You'll b safe" Like hell they would... "Oi! Hurry up men! Let's make this fast!" A voice shouted, as more arrows came at the driver, intending to take him out as well! [Train] "But if I wasn't a part of you...You wouldn't have any powers" Samara noted quietly. She didn't much care if she woke Sage or Joyce, but Blake seemed to be taking care so she would too. "You wouldn't be able to protect yourself without me there" |
