Lavo grunted, his head still resting on his hand. He had just noticed how bad his headache was. “There was one guy, someone who seemed to know the Empire pretty well, but...I doubt we'd run into him again.”

“There's also the doctor!” Windsong chimed in. “He knew a lot about draiken, I bet he knows something about Gallic too.”

Lavo turned to his sister. “The salarian medic?” He gave it some thought, or at least as much thought as his migraine would let him. “Yeah, yeah at least we would know where he is. We should get there fast.”

[-The Cold Iron-]

Jimi was right to block Kay; while she knew better than to intervene in anyone's training, she was worried that Hammah would get hurt. She was pleasantly surprised to realize that he could handle it himself.

She relaxed and watched. No more instinctive jolting, she promised herself.

“Mordin?” Shadow asked, hearing the draiken discuss the salarian medic. “That guy was...”

“Intense,” Omega said, nodding. “We have met him before.”

Shadow sighed, then nodded. “Okay, let's get going.”

Mordin's Infirmary

Soon the four would make it to the infirmary, which seemed quiet for now...

-Convoy Ship-
“... Um... I know this whole thing is crazy... but we're going to figure it all out, somehow...”

Sarai forced a smile, but then noticed just how terrified he was. She could tell he was trying to be brave- and optimistic- but his facade was cracking....Fast. When the ship returned to normal speed (and her stomach no longer felt like it was going to hop out of her mouth) she unbuckled herself and came to sit next to him. She said nothing (she was still much too shy) but she moved to grab his hand.

-Fancy Restaurant-

"I'm both intrigued and worried about the kinds of contacts you would have that could help get my child out of the military- but I appreciate the offer." Kanna said with a slight smile. "She says she enjoys her, but I worry about the things those people are capible of. Melanie isn't meant to be caught up in some war. Hell, I don't even want her following my footsteps"

-Streets-

Melanie was caught off guard when Galv moved forward and kissed her, the girl placing her fingers to the spot as he moved back. It wasn't like she hadn't kissed boys before (though she'd never admit it to her brother) but this felt different. It was a good different.

"I....." she trailed off, grabbing Galv's arm and kissing him on her own this time. "We should...You know...Get to know eachother. Like right now."

Jason was going to murder here...IF he found out.

-Flashback-

Chloe stayed against her dad in a hug for a few moments, the girl giving a small breath of relief. She knew she wasn't out of the woods, but at least it wouldn't be totally uphill.

Fnally she moved back, looking down at her lap before speaking. "Thanks....I know you didn't have to do that for me, do any of this for me, but I appreciate that you did."

If her mother had her way. Chloe should never have been his responsibility. She would probably still be locked away at home or sent away if she was with Ava and her stepfather. But something seemed to work in her favor and this all happened instead.

Chloe then looked up, face red. She was still in Edda's apartment, wearing his sweatshirt. Sitting next to her dad. "Ah! Dad I woke you up for all this! I'm sorry! I know it's super late"

[The Normandy]

Shepard paused, and she sighed deeply as she pondered that question. Garrus did like to prepare for the worst – and far too often the worst was exactly what they ran into. It was part of why they had become two of the Alliance's best – but it was also a stark reminder of just how bad things could be.

“Technically, I'm not even allowed to let you know.” Shepard reminded him. “... but I trust you Garrus. If you think you have to tell someone, and you trust them, do it. Just remember if the wrong person learns about this, it could literally mean the end of the Alliance... and then the Empire will be unopposed.”

[Omega]

[Afterlife]

Sama kept his pokerface up, but he didn't like this. Something was clearly going on... something important. Perhaps important enough that it could help with... 'that'. It was a huge gamble, though, to push their luck any further.

So he simply shrugged. “Just checkin'. I have to admit, as an Inquisitor I'm not used to just walking away from a force-user. Lord Vader tends to frown on that, and... well, disappointing Lord Vader is a very bad idea.”

He then turned. “Good luck with your work, Mr. Gallic. Let's go Commander, we should be getting back.”

Kimi, who had apparently been idle the whole time, milling around behind Sama nodded and followed as the two exited the Afterlife club. Once they were on their way down the street, Sama pulled up his hood and Kimi put her helmet back on, and then the two spoke quietly.

“You plant the bug?” Sama asked.
“Yeah. Figured you were stalling for a reason. You sure this is a good idea?” Kimi frowned.
“Nope. But even if they find it, they'll just assume it's me being a nosy bastard – kind of my job.”

[Capsule Corp Ship]

Vegeta scoffed, and shook his head... but his bravado faded.

“... I don't know. The Empire wasn't stupid enough to keep the Saiyans together. They split us up across various colonies... and... it's hard to even find a Saiyan these days. It's part of why I'm doing this... something stinks, and I intend to find out what.”

[The Cold Iron]

Kanan smirked slightly as Hammah dodged the blow and returned the attack. He sidestepped the punch, but was impressed – and threw a kick at Hammah's head!

“You have skill. More than I expected.”

[Convoy Ship]

As the ship entered the atmosphere of Lothal, Connor felt Sarai's hand move to his and he smiled. He cupped her hand in his and gave it a small squeeze. There was so much that he was unsure of, and so many worried clawing at his mind – but through it all, he was certain of one thing.

It was worth it to help Sarai.

“We'll be landing soon.” K-2SO called from the control room.

And so they did. The ship landed in a small city that was out in the wilds. The space port was minuscule – but as they landed Connor saw one thing that made his heart freeze.

The Imperial Flag was flying.

“My lab does a lot of high level work for some Alliance brass,” Ethan said, like it wasn't that important. “Why do you think the Shadow Broker tried to get an agent into it?”

He smirked slightly, taking a sip from his water.

“As for Melanie... if things with the Empire continue as they are, none of us may have any choice...” Ethan sighed.

Streets

Galv blushed as Melanie kissed him back, letting out a contented sigh and then blushed brightly at Melanie's words.

“Oh... Ummm... okay,” Galv said, “Did... you have some place in mind?”

-The Normandy-

“I'll keep myself... what's that human expression? 'Tight lipped'?” Garrus said, “But we should probably get this elevator going again, or people might talk.”

-Omega-

Afterlife

As Sama and Kimi left the club, Gallic turned to Celest now.

Another chance... maybe attack, then...

“I suggest you get going,” Gallic said. “You still have more work on that project, don't you?”

Celest froze, then nodded, slowly backing up until he too was leaving the club, Gallic sighing softly.

“Work gets harder and harder,” Gallic said, shaking his head. “Now where's that turian with the list of this club's assets?”

-Capsule Corp Ship-

Bulma hesitated, staring at Vegeta still with a critical eye.

“Didn't you shout something about being the prince of the saiyans?” Bulma asked after a moment, “Do you feel responsible for them or something?”

-The Cold Iron-

Hammah backed away from the kick, hesitating, not sure if he should open his eyes now.

“Heads up, we're approaching in system to Lothal now,” Edda's voice said over the speakers. “Get ready to disembark...”

“As for Melanie... if things with the Empire continue as they are, none of us may have any choice...”

Kanna frowned, looking down at her food. Ethan was right, and it was depressing as hell. "I may have to count on your help to keep her safe..."

She then sighed, but suddenly straightened up and took a sip from her almost empty wine glass. "This chat had gotten much too depressing. Perhaps we should call it a night?"

Or go to her apartment and fool around. Either or.

[Streets]

"Well i'd say we could go to my family's place but considering my mom and her current mood....Maybe back at the baracks?" she offered, taking his arm.

[Convoy Ship]

Sarai followed Conor closely off the ship, the girl only stopping as he did so, both teens now looking up at the same flag. She noticed Connor stiffening and the girl leaned in. "Why would he send us here?" she asked softly.

-Mordin's Infirmary-

Along with Shadow and Omega, the draiken siblings made their way to the infirmary, where they hoped Mordin still was.

“At least the entrance is less...occupied this time,” Windsong commented.

Lavo only nodded in agreement. He just wanted to get this over with. For all he knew, Gallic could have just vanished and he wanted that information as soon as possible. “Hello?” he announced, leading the way in.

[-The Cold Iron-]

After Edda's announcement, Kay's attention turned from Hammah's training.

“Ooh, goodie!” she sung.

[Lothal]

[City Spaceport]

Connor frowned deeply, looking over to Sarai. She had stiffened quite a bit and looked uncomfortable – and Connor couldn't blame her. While her family definitely seemed dangerous, running off to an Imperial-controlled planet was a bit like trying to escape an angry dog by hiding in a lion's den.

“I don't know...” Connor frowned.

“Relax.” K-2SO called to them as the tall droid joined them outside the ship. “Here. Fake ID cards.”

The droid handed them both small, semi-translucent cards, and a small pocket communicator. “Just don't get into trouble and you'll be fine. Oh and Mr. Rica wants to talk to you.”

Connor frowned once again, and pushed the button on the communicator. Instantly a small, blue hologram of Rica's head appeared.

“Good! You made it alive. That's always a good sign.” Rica beamed.

“You sent us to an Imperial planet...” Connor grimaced.

“Temporarily, yes.” Rica nodded. “Makes it much harder for Genius to track you. I'll arrange for another ship to take you off of Lothal, but it might be a few days. So just make the most of it. There should be enough credits on those ID cards that you can afford some food and a hotel. I'll contact you when the arrangements have been made.”

[The Cold Iron]

“Enough.” Kanan called out when he heard the announcement that they were approaching the system. The drunken former Jedi gave a quick bow to Hammah. “You have skill. The Force is strong in you. As long as you trust it, I believe you'll find where you're meant to be...”

Kanan paused. It felt so weird talking about things like this again. It had been so long since he felt like the Force mattered... and yet here he was, on this ship with these people, embarking on some crazed adventure. He wondered... was it destiny? Did he even believe in destiny anymore?

Musashi poked his head in the room. “Looks like we're landing.”

[Capsule Corp Ship]

Vegeta's hand clenched.

“I am the Prince of all Saiyans, yes...” He sighed. “... That's why I'm doing this. To reclaim my birthright! The Saiyans shouldn't be lap-dogs of some frail old emperor and his cronies! We should be running the show!”

(auuuuugh forgot this last time)

-Flashback-

“It's fine,” Ethan said, “I needed to get into the lab early today anyways.”

He smiled at Chloe, then glanced towards Edda, raising an eyebrow.

“Chloe, can I speak with Edda privately for a minute?” Ethan asked.

-The Citadel-

Fancy Restaurant

“If she needs help...” Ethan said, nodding, then smiled slightly when Kanna said they should call it a night.

“We could head back to my place, if you'd like,” Ethan suggested.

Streets

“Okay,” Galv said, not bothering to argue as they linked arms and headed back towards the base. “Ummm... I have my own little workshop on base, we could go there if we want some... privacy...”

-Omega-

Mordin's Infirmary

“Ahhh... the draiken are back? Didn't hurt wing? Oh, you have those two. Hmmm... no other signs of injury. No news of large fight. Allies now?” Mordin asked, appearing in front of the four from a room, looking at them carefully. “Need anything?”

Outside Afterlife

Celest stepped outside of Afterlife, glancing around and then heading off. There was one thing he could do to throw off pursuit, perhaps...

-Capsule Corp Ship-

Bulma eyed Vegeta for a moment, frowning.

“I've only ever apparently known the one Saiyan in Goku, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who really wants to be running anything,” Bulma said, then glanced towards Goku, who was now engaging Nappa in an arm wrestling contest.

-Lothal-

City Spaceport

The Cold Iron landed, still disguised as a simple transport.

“Okay everyone,” Edda said, once they were ready to go. “We'll get some transport set up and head to the temple. Sol's got that covered. We're going to have to be very careful though...”

Jimi frowned, nodding and glancing towards Kay and Hammah. This would be difficult.

Lavo stopped and looked back at the hedgehog and the robot that had taken it upon themselves to come along for the ride.

“Y-...yeah, allies,” Lavo responded. “We need some information.”

“Do you know a guy named Gallic?” Windsong blurted. She knew Lavo was going to take his time asking the question, so she went ahead. “And where he might be right now?”

[Lothal]
-City Spaceport-

Kay smirked, prepped and ready to go. “We can do careful. I'm good at careful,” she stated as if she was actually very dangerous to be around and anything she touched could blow up in an instant.

Of course that's all hypothetical. She's totally careful.

-Flashback-

Chloe stiffened a bit when Ethan asked to speak to Edda privately, but gave a small nod and stood up, retreating to Ethan's room for the time being.

....Maybe going to Edda's bedroom wasn't the best considering the apparent conversation.

-The Citadel-

[Fancy Restaurant]

Kanna stood up, slipping her coat back over her shoulders.

“We could head back to my place, if you'd like,”

Kanna blinked, but then shrugged. "Alright" she said, looking around and suddenly grabbing a bottle of wine from the table next to them. "But i'm taking this too"

[Streets]

“Ummm... I have my own little workshop on base, we could go there if we want some... privacy...”

Melanie knew that both her mother and brother would not approve of her wandering into the workshop of a guy the literally met a few hours ago- but she liked Galv. He seemed nice and was pretty attractive-

The girl tried to suppress the warmth in her cheeks by looking down for a moment. What was the harm in just seeing his place?

-Lothal-

[City Spaceport]

Sarai stayed quiet as Connor and Rica spoke, the girl's nervousness slightly overwhelming at the moment.

There should be enough credits on those ID cards that you can afford some food and a hotel. I'll contact you when the arrangements have been made.”

From her spot Sarai gave a tiny nod, before suddenly speaking. "When will Moira be here?" she asked, still worried for Connor's older sister.

[Lothal]

[City Spaceport]

Rica raised an eyebrow towards Sarai, and he simply smirked – and it was that usual distressing smirk, as if he had something horrible up his sleeves.

“Soon enough. I just need Moira to do one little errand for me, and then she can come and find you.”

Connor didn't like the sound of that. He had some idea what Moira had to do for Rica in the past – those gloves that reversed their healing powers into destructive powers weren't designed for anything good – and he hated the idea that she was hurting someone for this evil man.

Rica bid them a farewell, and the hologram switched off. Connor sighed deeply, shaking his head. “... I guess we should go...”

Not that far away, Musashi was aboard the Cold Iron with the others.

“Getting to the temple won't be easy.” Musashi frowned. “The Empire is super protective of anything that used to belong to the Jedi. We'll need to be careful.”

He glanced at Chloe. “Like... for real careful, not the usual stuff.”

[The Citadel]

[Private Mansion]

Moira's car stopped outside the gates of an exclusive mansion, in one of the upscale parts of the monolithic city of the Citadel. She wore a black turtleneck, her special gloves, black cargo pants and boots. She slipped out of the car quietly, and took a deep breath.

She reached inside, grabbed a bottle of tequila and took a long swig. Afterwards she shuddered violently, repulsed by the taste but needing it to take the edge off her nerves. It had been a long time since she did anything like this, and she had never wanted to again.

She moved to the edge of the gate and slowly climbed it, slipping over and dropping down into the lawn. She ran quickly, staying low to the ground and keeping in the shade of the trees. The mansion was mostly dark, aside from the light in one of the upstairs bedroom windows.

With a sigh, Moira moved to the back yard and jumped up onto the drain pipe, shimming her way up and hoping it would hold her weight. Then she jumped onto the second-floor balcony and slowly made her way to the door, but then moved right past it and continued towards the illuminated window.

She slowly leaned over and peered inside – and she grimaced at the sight. She assumed the man inside was the rival crime lord Rica wanted dead. The poor woman with him likely a paid companion for the night. She had no idea what the tub of mayonnaise or the life-sized statue of a goat were for, and she really didn't want to.

Suddenly regretting what she was about to do a lot less, Moira took a deep breath and then made her move. She touched the handle of the door with her glove and a quick spark of crimson light flickered out and the handle – and the lock behind it – burst apart into pieces with a loud pop. She kicked the door open and ran inside.

The unsightly crime lord barely had time to pull away from his mistress before Moira came rushing into the room. The crime lord looked as if he didn't know if he should go for his gun or his pants, but ultimately dove for the gun – but Moira was too fast, pressing the palm of her hand against his arm as he reached for the revolver on the nightstand and with another burst of red light the crime lord was screaming, while Moira simply tried to shield herself from the spray of blood.

The unlucky prostitute screamed and ran out of the room, but Moira paid her no mind. She simply looked down at the crime lord – now rolling on the floor, clutching the spot where his arm had been. She sighed and reached out for his face.

Another flash of red and the deed was done. Moira could already hear the frantic footsteps on the stairs – no doubt his bodyguards coming to find out what the commotion was. She rushed back out onto the balcony and dove straight off, landing on the lawn hard enough to hurt her ankle – but she slipped off one of her gloves, applied some quick healing to her leg and she was able to run back to her car and speed away before the bodyguards had finished reacting to the unsightly mess that had once been their boss.

After driving a few miles and pulling off into an alleyway, Moira broke down. She threw her arms across the steering wheel and sobbed into them, not bothering to wipe away the blood that had showered her in the earlier... incident.

[Capsule Corp Ship]

“That's because your friend is no proper Saiyan.” Vegeta shook his head, quite grumpy. “... Not his fault I suppose. Can't imagine being raised by HUMANS... but at least it's another Saiyan who is alive, and maybe I can make a proper warrior out of him eventually.”

He's being nice. This is his version of nice.

Sarai gave a small nod following Connor closely as they made their way down the street. The girl was silent, but she watched their surroundings closely. She had never been to Lothal, though she was pretty sure her father had several times.

"It's like home...But different...." she said quietly as they walked. She couldn't quite explain it, but it did seem off..Well other than the whole Empire thing.

[City Spaceport]

Connor frowned as they walked. Lothal was less crowded than the Citadel, but this specific city – Dinar – was fairly large and reminded him of the Citadel a bit. Most of the people seemed to ignore the two teenagers as they walked through the streets. There were several shops nearby, and a few restaurants which smelled of strange and exotic foods.

“I'm so used to being on base, this all seems so weird...” Connor commented as they walked. He sighed, and looked over to Sarai. “I guess... we should find somewhere to stay. Or maybe something to eat...”

Musashi could only raise an eyebrow to Chloe – and then he gave a big, overexaggerated look of horror. “Oh my God, you mean all this time, this was you BEING careful? God, I don't ever wanna see how bad it gets when you're not careful then.”

Those two couldn't help but mess with one another.

-Lothal-

City Spaceport

Edda chuckled at Chloe, then glanced towards the others. “Normally I'd want some people to stay aboard, but considering what we might be up against.”

He paused, turning his head as Sol said something to him over a private comm link, nodding.

“Okay we got transportation ready outside. I'm going to hand everyone some comm devices. They're set up so they use burst transmissions. Harder to spot, but don't use them a lot. You hit the button, speak, then release the button, and it sends it to everyone else here,” Edda explained. It was simple. It needed to be, anymore more complicated then pressing a button tended to throw Edda for a loop when it came to tech. “Paul, stay with me.”

Paul nodded, as Edda was one of the few people who could understand Paul.

“Paul and I are going to go to the Temple and see if we can bluff our way with some fake IDs that Sol made up for us. You four,” he pointed to Kannan, Jimi, Hammah, and Kay, “Will go around a different way, while we got the guards distracted so you can get inside. Now... you two...”

Edda glanced towards Musashi and Chloe. “One of you could go with them, and the other with us. Whoever is best at being sneaky would probably be best with them.”

Elsewhere in the spaceport, another ship landed, a young man stepped out, glancing around before he headed on his way.

The Normandy

The stealth ship flashed into existence, invisible to all systems in the Empire system as it proceeded towards the planet.

“We're pretty sure they landed on the planet instead of proceeding further into Empire territory,” Garrus told Shepard as they got into system. “We can't pinpoint which space port, but...”

He selected an image on the holographic map, expanding it. “I think here. It's where the most traffic has been going, easy to slide a ship in. Plus, we can have Cortez set us not far from the city in the stealth shuttle and move in from there. We'll have to be careful though.”

-Omega-

Mordin's Infirmary

“Gallic?” Mordin asked, going still for a moment, then shook his head. “No. No Gallic. Very dangerous. Bad idea to go see him, yes.”

“Look he might be high up in the Empire but-” Shadow began, Mordin shaking his head again.

“No! He is... Force sensitive. STG found that out. But continues to operate in Empire despite that. High profile at that,” Mordin said. “Fighting him very dangerous. Talking maybe more so.”

-The Citadel-

Fancy Restaurant

Ethan sighed slightly as Kanna took the wine bottle, but was smart enough not to say anything, instead paying the bill (including the wine bottle) and leaving a hefty tip as they headed back to his car.

Galv's Workshop

Pretty soon the two would make it to Galv's workshop. There were a number of tools and half finished inventions lying around the place, a cot in the corner for when Galv was too tired to head home and instead slept there.

There was a large table that dominated the center of the room, and what looked like powered armor off in the corner that Galv was modifying extensively.

“Sorry it's a bit of a mess,” Galv said, moving a few things aside as he glanced towards Melanie. “Just stuff I've been working on, both for the military and in my spare time.”

He was a Hawkins, he got some leeway into building, since his grandfather had invented a number of weapons the Alliance used.

Rica's Bar

The door opened, a few people looking up as what looked like a young man with brown hair stepped in, wearing some nondescript outfit. He was dressed... plainly. In a way that helped people forget they saw him.

He walked up to the bar, taking a seat as he glanced around.

“Rica in?” Samuel asked the bartender.

-Capsule Corp Ship-

“Yah, yah. Goku's the strongest guy I know, I'm sure he can beat your ass,” Bulma said idly, waving her hand as she turned to study a display. “We should be at Capsule Corp headquarters soon.”

-Flashback-

As Chloe retreated into the other room, Ethan looked at Edda. Edda looked back, aware that while Ethan was shorter then him, Ethan could, if wanted, remove Edda's heart and show it to him before he died.

“What are your intentions with my daughter?” Ethan asked, deciding to get right to the heart of the matter.

“I... Well...” Edda glanced to the door where Chloe had gone through, then back to Ethan. “I want to be there for her. What that means... I guess I'd have to talk to Chloe about that.”

Ethan grunted, apparently accepting that answer for now. He wasn't too worried about Edda forcing Chloe into anything, she was stubborn and strong willed, but he still worried about her. If he hadn't known about Edda already though...

“You're a rich kid. You gonna offer her a job?” Ethan then asked, startling Edda by the question.

“I... no. I don't think that would be a good idea,” Edda said.

“And why not? She's a damn good engineer,” Ethan said, apparently miffed at the blond haired man.

“She is. Be lucky to have her. But... I don't think she'd like that,” Edda said. “It's one thing for you to help her out with not getting blacklisted, but if I just called my dad and got her working for the company... I don't think she'd like that. I wouldn't like that either, it'd... be something over her head, tainting everything.”

Edda hesitated for a moment. “I mean... if she asked... If it was that or something worse, then yes. But I know Chloe. I don't think she'd ask unless she absolutely had to.”

Ethan nodded slightly, then walked towards the door Chloe went through.

“Alright... Chloe?” Ethan knocked on the door. “I'm heading home for now before heading to the lab. Did you want to come with or...” the next few words came a bit more difficult. “...stay here for now?”
