Capsule Corp Ship

Nappa smirked slightly, then glanced around and stepped towards Vegeta, speaking quietly so only the other Saiyan would hear.

“Yah, but if you got Alliance help, you could use them as patsies, people to soak up some of the Empire's forces while we do our own thing,” Nappa whispered.

Afterlife

Celest burst into Afterlife, then came to a screeching halt as he saw a number of guns turned towards him, a man in a suit turning as well.

Celest froze completely as he recognized the face of Gallic, who looked mildly amused.

“You're... Celest Guillory. Scientist, right?” Gallic asked, smiling now, “You've come in at a bad time, Afterlife is under some... new management.”

Celest glanced back towards the door, then stepped slightly to the side. Once those two who were chasing him came in... then he had a plan.

-The Citadel-

-The Normandy-

“Ai, ai, Commander,” Joker said, the ship taking off now, following the tracks Garrus had found.

“I better go make sure the main gun is calibrated correctly,” Garrus mentioned. “I'm sure some Alliance tech has been messing with my settings. And I feel like we're gonna need it on this mission...”

-The Cold Iron-

Hammah looked up as Kanan stepped in, looking at the blind Jedi.

“It's fine. And yah... Dad has the Force too,” Hammah said, “I guess I get it from him.”

“Not me though,” Jimi said, shaking his head. “Didn't get it myself.”

Of course Jimi could fire energy beams and was stronger and faster then other people.

Lavo used the wall he had then pounced upon as leverage to escape the Chaos Spear. Standing up again, he pulled out his plasma rifle and aimed at at the hedgehog.

“I'll f*cking kill you!” he roared, shooting at Shadow!

More shouting and fighting noises. Now Windsong was concerned. She didn't want to stand around while her brother was in trouble. She wordlessly ran off toward the ruckus.

[The Cold Iron]
-Living Area-

Kay shrugged. “No Force in my family.”

She paused for a moment, then frowned. “I think...”

Now that she thought about it, Kay never really “got to know” her parental figures. She was never really close to them growing up, never quite saw eye-to-eye with them. She ended up isolating herself from them as a teenager, so as far as she knew at least an aunt of hers was a Force user.

Of course she couldn't really know that and she didn't care to. Still, being able to use the Force sounded really cool and she wished she could do something like that.

[Capsule Corp Ship]

Vegeta paused, and although he hated to admit it, Nappa had a decent idea. Using the Alliance could be beneficial... he smirked, and then nodded.

“Fine, we'll try it your way, Nappa. Woman!” He looked back over to Bulma with his usual level of kindness and tact (zero). “I think it's time we go to the Alliance. Can this ship actually fly?”

Don't worry. He won't be an assh*ole forever. Maybe. Probably. Who knows?

[Afterlife]

The door to the Afterlife was once more thrown open, as Sama rushed in – burning lightsaber still sparking in his hand. He paused as he realized the room was filled with people holding guns. He paused, frowning, as he took a step forward.

“... Great, wandered into some kind of thing... look I don't care who you idiots are or what you're doing, but that fella there is comin' with me, so stay out of my way, okay?” Sama tried to sound cruel and terrifying, but there was something inherently lame about his attempt.

Kimi was nowhere to be seen...

[The Normandy]

“We usually do.” Shepard frowned. She tried to keep her missions on the peaceful side, but situations usually dictated otherwise; and she was never once to hesitate when it came to a fight.

The course laid-out, Shepard could only sigh and wait.

[The Cold Iron]

Kanan nodded, as he watched Hammah. Then he looked at Jimi and Kay, and he gave a small smile.

“You may not have a sensitivity to it, but I can assure you the Force is a part of you. It connects us all. Regardless of who we are, or where we're from. If you're alive, it's there... maybe faintly but...”

He paused, and then laughed, shaking his head. “Hah, sorry... for a minute there, I felt like it a Jedi again.”

He shook his head, and then looked to Hammah. “Your connection to the Force is a strong one. It may be the key to finding your father... if you can strengthen it, learn to cultivate it... it may take you to him... but I should warn you, the stronger you get, the more... visible you become. To the kind of people you really don't want to meet.”

“So you still have enough mind to use weapons?” Shadow smirked, dodging the plasma blasts as he landed, using his speed, but not getting closer.

“Is it really me you're mad at?” Shadow sneered, “Or yourself?”

Omega accompanied Windsong, moving quickly after the draiken.

Capsule Corp Ship

Nappa smirked, Bulma scowling at Vegeta.

“My name is Bulma, not 'woman,'” she said, glaring at the Saiyan prince. “And of course it can, it's a top of the line Capsule Corp ship! We can head out right now.”

Nappa produced a small remote, tapping at some controls. “Okay, our own battle pods will follow behind.”

Bulma turned around, tapping at some controls, the ship's engines whining softly as they took off...

Afterlife

Gallic stared at the red saber in Sama's hand for an instant, then smiled suddenly.

“How interesting, an Inquisitor and a scientist,” Gallic said, clapping his hands together, “What does an Inquisitor desire from an Empire scientist?”

Celest looked confused for a moment, edging backwards. Surely Gallic had to know about his betrayal... Gallic had been one of the benefactors of one of his projects...

-The Cold Iron-

Living Area

Jimi smiled, clapping a hand on Kay's shoulder. “Hey, not being Force sensitive isn't bad. You got those cool solar powers after all. I don't know anyone else who can do that.”

Though the amount of people Jimi probably knew wasn't very high.

Hammah was quiet as Jimi spoke, reflecting on Kanan's words.

“It's... still something I want to learn. My father spoke of Jedi and Sith, and the Light and the Dark... he said neither was the correct path...” Hammah said carefully.

-The Normandy-

Garrus hesitated for a moment towards the elevator, turning back to Shepard.

“I know stuff like this is never fun, but who knows, maybe we'll find some Empire troops cut off somewhere we can take out,” Garrus said.

[Capsule Corp Ship]

“Yes, yes, Booma I'm aware.” Vegeta dismissed her, because he's an assh*le. He could tell that he wasn't making friends with Bulma and Goku, but Vegeta was never a man who cared about that.

[Afterlife]

Sama paused, as he stared at Gallic – and then he swore quietly. It was that guy. The enigma. Gallic was a mystery in the Empire, one of the big ones. He had a lot of pull and a lot of power, and it was rumored even Palpatine had a respect for him. That alone put him in the company of the Empire's most elite – Tarkin, Thrawn, Vader.

“... Oh? This man is an Imperial? Strange that he would flee from an Imperial commander, and an Inquisitor.” Sama replied, trying to play it cool. “At any rate, he's a Force-user. So I want to know who he is, and what he's doing here.”

[The Cold Iron]

Kanan frowned a bit. “Hmm... I've heard of philosophies like that before. The Jedi taught that the Dark side was a perversion of the Force. A blight, that the Force could only ever be in balance if the dark side was destroyed. That's what I always believed... but then again, the Jedi were destroyed, so maybe we didn't have all the answers after all.”

He shook his head. “... but I do know this. The galaxy was a far more peaceful and prosperous place when there were Jedi defending it. In those days, war was a rare event... now it's the constant. I don't know if the Jedi truly had all the answers, or if we knew nothing... but I do know if you intend to pursue the Force, you must beware the Dark Side. I've seen where it leads.”

He paused, and then nodded slowly. “That said... let's see what you can do. I may not be one of the old masters, but I can gauge your abilities.”

[The Normandy]

“Now wouldn't that be fun,” Shepard smirked slightly. “Still... this mission of ours...”

She paused, and then she flipped on the com-link on her command platform.

“Attention everyone. This is Shepard. I know this has been last minute, and you were all looking forward to shore-leave. Hopefully we'll be back to it soon. The details of our current assignment are need-to-know, but I want to be straight with you all: this will be dangerous. That's what we do, and we're the best the Alliance has. So we're going to give it our all and we're going to be successful – and we're all coming home.”

She flipped off the coms, and then stepped down from the platform and followed Garrus into the elevator without a word. Once they were halfway down, though, she suddenly hit the stop button on the elevator.

Then she pressed her omni-tool a few times, and a translucent shield coated the inside of the elevator. They were cut off from the ship's coms.

“Do you trust me, Garrus? I don't mean with command, or even with your life. Do you trust me with something... a hell of a lot bigger.”

“He's working for me. Top secret mission,” Gallic said. Celest frowned, staring at the man. What was he doing? “Nothing for you to worry about.”

Celest inched his hand towards his light saber, thinking he could attack then escape in the confusion.

A chill ran down his spine, and he looked at Gallic, who still seemed to be oddly cheerful, but... there was something there, something that Celest did not want to face, his hand moving away from the hidden hilt of his blade.

-The Cold Iron-

“I... would welcome a test,” Hammah said, standing up now from his spot he had been sleeping meditating at. “What do I do for it?”

-The Normandy-

Garrus stumbled at the sudden stop of the elevator, looking at Shepard in confusion as she turned back to him, asking one hell of a question.

“Well that's a hell of a question,” Garrus said, “Shepard, I trust you. I don't know what this is about, but you can depend on me.”

-Capsule Corp Ship-

Bulma glared at Vegeta, Goku walking up now.

“Hey new buddy!” Goku said, grinning. “You coming with us?”

[The Normandy]

Shepard sighed, and nodded. She knew she could trust Garrus, and he trusted her. She just wasn't sure how he'd react to this news... but she had to tell him. Orders be damned, she couldn't keep something like this from Garrus and still expect him to have her back.

“There's more to this mission than you know. Technically, I'm violating a direct order to tell you... and I have no doubt you'll be obligated to tell Turian high command what I'm about to say, but I'm asking you not to.”

This was serious. Shepard took a deep breath, and pressed a button on her Omni-tool – and the specs for something appeared in an orange hologram, floating between the two.

“... A few days ago, an as of yet unidentified hacker stolen weapon schematics from an Earth-based defense computer. Very old weapon schematics for something called 'Toxic Skies'. It was a program originally developed back... not long after my people realized we weren't alone in the universe.”

Shepard shook her head. “It's a biological weapon, Garrus. A weaponized virus that is designed to seek out non-human DNA and... break it down completely. Obviously my people never actually deployed this weapon, and as far as I know, there are no actual working versions of the weapon... but...”

She didn't have to elaborate more. Just the existence of a weapon that could kill aliens while leaving humans completely unharmed was a violation of several Alliance treaties.

“... Needless to say, if any of the other governments that make up the Alliance found out about this weapon's existence, it could potentially drive a wedge into the Alliance. And if whoever stole this schematic can actually produce a working weapon...”

She shook her head. The causalities could be on a planetary scale.

“. . . If the Empire stole this weapon and makes it, and uses it, it could kill billions... but just its existence being revealed could potentially drive species to leave the Alliance, and that could destroy the last, best chance of a universe that doesn't bow to the Empire.”

[Capsule Corps Ship]

“More like you're coming with me.” Vegeta said to Goku, since he always assumed the universe revolved around him. He crossed his arms. “As for you... if you're a Saiyan, then you need to fight like one! Once we're someplace that isn't a spaceship I want to see what you can do!”

[The Cold Iron]

“Well, let's start with something easy, okay?” Kanan advised. He wasn't about to jump into anything dangerous. He reached into his pocket and fished out a few objects – a small lighter, a credit chip, a pen with no cap and his lightsaber.

“Try to levitate these around you.”

[Omega]

[Afterlife]

Sama raised an eyebrow. From the look on Celest face, the Inquisitor wasn't sure about this story... but Gallic was too big of an enigma to take lightly.

“... Well, I don't mean to intrude on your secret mission... I've heard of you. You're some big shot. That's fine... but it doesn't change the fact you have a force-user here. Any force-users are Inquisitor business, so I want the full story on this guy.”

He narrowed his eyes. “... Of course, if you'd rather not talk to me, that's fine. I don't have time for this crap anyway, but I'll have to report this to Lord Vader, and he's not as forgiving as I am.”

“...Neither.”

For a moment, Lavo had caught his breath and his senses. He had a massive headache and could barely hold his rifle upright.

After a sigh, he said again, “Neither.” He stood a little more upright and glared past Shadow. “I'm angry at them. At the Empire.”

The draiken began walking forward. “I'm angry that they took away my childhood, and my life, and my home. I'm angry that they took my sister from her mother. I'm angry...that I have to weird this stupid armor!”

Just as Windsong arrived, Lavo walked past her. “Hey!” she shouted. “Where are you going?!”

“I'm fighting Gallic!” he replied before breaking into a sprint.

“Wha...wait Lavo get back here!”

Kay chuckled a little, both at Kanan and at Jimi.

“I guess the solar stuff is neat. I might just feel like it isn't because I've gotten used to having it.”

Garrus looked shocked at the news, taking several moments to absorb just what Shepard told him.

“That's... okay that's big, I was wondering what could make you act that way, and... yah...” Garrus said, shaking his head. “Don't worry, I won't tell anyone. I don't hold it against you or the Alliance either, I'm certain the Hierarchy would have developed a weapon like that themselves if they could. Letting them know humans did... Yah, that wouldn't be pretty.”

He sighed now. “But this is big. Really big. Do you think the current hacker we're tracking has something to do with this?”

-Capsule Corp Ship-

“Ohhhh, yah! That sounds like fun! Come on Bulma, let's go!” Goku said, excited about the opportunity to fight Vegeta again.

“We are going, but we can't just teleport there by wishing,” Bulma sighed.

“Hey, Vegeta...” Nappa said, looking up again, “Should I contact Raditz?”

-The Cold Iron-

Hammah nodded, focusing on the items that Kanan produced, making them float around with much apparent issue.

His father had been training him for most of his life.

Jimi smirked towards Kay, shrugging slightly. “Maybe, but I think they're pretty cool!”

-Omega-

Afterlife

“Of course,” Gallic said, smiling now. “Celest use to be an Inquisitor as well, but his research and ability into genetics were too good to discount, so the Emperor placed him in charge of a few special projects.”

Celest looked uncomfortable now. This was getting dangerously close to what he was doing here...

“Celest is here to oversee one of those projects being moved. And it is quite hush hush, running into a Inquisitor here, well, unfortunately the Empire sometimes has... internal difficulties,” Gallic added, alluding to when rivals would work to subvert or even kill the other. “I trust we won't have any difficulties here, will we?”

Fallback Location

Shadow smirked as Lavo turned away now, though there was a look of... pride there.

“Good,” he said.

Omega paused, glancing around.

“...Does he know where this Gallic is?” Omega wondered.

-The Citadel-

Hotel Room

It was a fancy suite, Jens looking annoyed as he stepped inside, looking at the four other people in there.

“You got what we need boss?” a tall brute of a Saiyan asked, a grin on his face.

“Almost,” Jens said, “We should be ready to leave as soon as possible...”

“He does not!!” Windsong screeched, rushing toward her brother. “Come back you idiot! You're going to get yourself killed!”

Lavo showed no signs of stopping. He was half in a blood-rage and believed wholeheartedly that he was thinking rationally.

Kay grinned. “You're too kind.”

She watched Hammah make the random objects float around him, now even more intrigued.

GRAPPLING HOOK!

-Convoy Ship-

“We're preparing for the jump to lightspeed. You might want to buckle in. Or don't. I honestly don't care, but Rica might be upset if you end up hurt.”

Sarai mimicked Connor, buckling up before staring down at her lap nervously. While she trusted Connor (she was surprised just how much) she still knew very little about him in the grand scheme of things....And now they were on this grand dangerous adventure (if you could call it that) with the young man. This both made her very excited and terribly afraid.

-The Citadel-

Fancy Restaurant

"What about your children, I heard Melanie joined the military recently?”

Kanna nodded, giving a tiny, almost unnoticeable, frown. "Yes, just graduated the academy and is now formally enlisted. I'm proud of her, though I sometimes feel she chose to do so because of Jason. He's been in for years now and knows all it entails- her, not so much."

Streets

Melanie gave a small smile, liking the idea of something a bit calmer after all of the day's excitement. A date (one that Jason and Kanna weren't involved in) sounded nice.

"I like that. And i'd like to know more about you." she said sweetly.

-The Cold Iron-

Captain's Quarters

“We get these guys we picked up to Lothal first of all, then we go from there. If all goes well they know where to find that dad of there's, and we drop them off, and then we have options. If it goes pear shaped...”

Chloe frowned as Edda trailed off, but gave a nod. "Don't worry so much, it's nothing we can't handle"

-Flashback: Chloe-

Chloe sat silently as her father pulled out his phone and made a call, speaking to someone on the other end for a few moments. She wasn't sure exactly who it was, but apparently it was someone who could pull some major strings.

“I pulled a couple strings. You're still discharged, but you won't be blacklisted... It might still be difficult finding a job, but it won't be an uphill battle any more.”

The girl stared at her father, wide eyed and still silent - unable to form a proper sentence after Ethan told her it would be ultimately okay. Instead of speaking the girl crashed against her dad in a hug, burying her head in his shoulder for a moment before finally speaking...

"H-How did you do it? Who were you talking to?" she asked.

Jimi smirked at Kay. “Well, I may be a little biased. A bit. But they're still cool.”

“If she's having trouble with something, let me know, I might be able to help,” Ethan said, “I know a few people.”

Galv smiled back to Melanie, “I'd like to know more about you too. Ummm...”

He paused, glancing around to see if anyone was taking notice, then leaned forward and gave her a quick kiss.

-Flashback-

Ethan oofed slightly as Chloe crashed into him, smiling softly as he returned the hug.

“Admiral Hackett,” Ethan answered, “We've met a few times and my lab is doing a few projects for the Alliance military.”

Edda looked impressed, then smiled, glad Chloe had a father to help her out.

Lavo growled at Omega.

“He's right!” Windsong shouted, catching up to her brother and catching her breath. The sound of her voice stopped the taller draiken from raising his gun at the robot.

Windsong exhaled. “He's right,” she repeated. “We need to find where he is before we kick his ass.”

Lavo tensed up, then relaxed his shoulders and looked down with a sigh. “Yeah. Yeah...” He rubbed his forehead. “But where...where do we start looking?”

[Convoy Ship]

After a moment, K-2SO left them alone in the cargo hold. Connor felt nervous. This whole thing had happened so quickly and now that he was sitting in the quiet and thinking, he realized just how much was happening at once. He was on his way to a planet he had never before sat foot on, his sister was back working for that awful criminal Rica, and he had just taken Sarai away from her family.

He gulped, realizing just how in over his head he was. Then he remembered he was also essentially AWOL from the military, and it felt like the walls were closing in on him a bit.

Then the ship jumped to Lightspeed and Connor felt like his stomach was turned inside out. Out of the window, space was suddenly a streak of lights and colors as they moved faster than any physical object ever should.

He looked over at Sarai, and he could tell she was nervous about all of this. “... Um... I know this whole thing is crazy... but we're going to figure it all out, somehow...”

[The Normandy]

Shepard let out a small sigh of relief. She knew she could trust Garrus, but it was still hard to tell him about this. She nodded solemnly.

“My species history is littered with bad ideas. I'm just glad this one never made it into the production stage.” She shook her head. Then she sighed, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall.

“The hacker obtained a full schematic on the weapon.” Shepard explained. “Now I doubt some small hacker group is looking to manufacture a WMD capable of annihilating entire species, but whoever hired them might be... and while we have no evidence of this, my money is on the Empire.”

It was no secret that the Empire was mostly human centric. Although there were numerous alien species that had been conquered by the Empire and now served them, they were viewed as second-class citizens within the Empire. A rare few managed to excel despite that, but there was no denying the Empire had at best thinly-veiled contempt for non-humans.

“... That's the thing, Garrus. Just the existence of this weapon's prototype going public could be a devastating blow for the Alliance. If the hackers wanted to hurt us, they already have the means to... the fact they didn't release the information tells me that someone wants the actual schematic to build a working weapon... if it IS the Empire... they'll have the ability to kill off entire species... and they might be twisted enough to actually do it.”

[Capsule Corp Ship]

Vegeta winced. Kakarot was an irritating presence, and Bulma was surprisingly stubborn for a human... but somehow it was Nappa who was making him the angriest, especially with his latest suggestion.

“Ugh. I suppose we should.” Vegeta sighed deeply. “Raditz will be interested to know we found his brother. Go ahead and call him.”

[The Cold Iron]

Kanan nodded. This was good. Hammah had natural skill and talent, and it was clear someone had been training him. He could take things up a level. With a wave of his hand, Kanan pulled the objects back and sat them on the ground.

“Good. You've got skill... now I want you to close your eyes. Block out all the distractions. Focus only on the Force. Feel it flow within you. Trust it, and let it move you – it will tell you when to dodge.”

Kanan didn't elaborate on that last comment. Instead he waited a moment, and then... suddenly sprang forward, throwing a punch at Hammah's face!

[Omega]

[Afterlife]

Sama raised an eyebrow, but stayed quiet. This all sounded a bit too convenient... and Gallic's threat was unmissable. The smart thing to do would be to turn around and leave, forget this and get back to their greater mission – but he couldn't escape one simple fact.

It was a fact he knew Kimi had realized too. Don Gallic was a powerful, and admittedly enigmatic, figure in the Empire. Anything they could learn about him could help their ultimate goal... it was an opportunity, one that had come at the worst possible moment.

“If he's here on Imperial business, then there should be no difficulties.” Sama replied quietly. “... in fact, my partner and I could be an asset in this situation. We have finished our current assignment. Why don't you let us help you?”

Beneath her helmet, Kimi raised an eyebrow, but she didn't say a word.

“Of course, if you prefer, I can call Lord Vader and make it official... but he's so busy these days, probably best if we don't bother him with every little detail.” Sama added.

“Then you need information,” Shadow said. “Anyone you know around here who could help?”

Like a terrifying kindly salarian doctor.

Afterlife

“While your desire to help the Empire is commendable, all you'd be able to help with is standing guard, hardly a task an Inquisitor would be needed for,” Gallic said, “And I assume you have orders to return to your own commander, I wouldn't want to step on their toes.”

Celest glanced around idly, wondering... there might be a way out...

-The Normandy-

“I don't think there's any species that don't have a history littered with bad ideas,” Garrus said, trying to lighten the mood a little. “But yes... this is big. If... look, this is hard to say, but if we have to part ways, do you trust me to let others know, if I think they can be trusted?”

Garrus was always worried about the worst possibility.

-Capsule Corp Ship-

Nappa nodded and went to contact Raditz, while Bulma continued to frown at Vegeta.

“I do wonder... if you're so afraid of this Vader and the Empire, why haven't more saiyans shown up in the Alliance? There's... Goku, I guess, and I heard there's another working for Shepard, but that's it.”

-The Cold Iron-

Hammah focused, closing his eyes. Jimi took a step back and moved so he was slightly in front of Kay, having a pretty good idea to what Kanan was doing, and didn't want Kay to instinctively react to protect Hammah.

Hammah dodged to the side, avoiding the blow, bringing his own arm up now, aiming to punch Kanan back, his eyes still closed!
