The situation could be perceived as quite amusing from the side. A woman looking into a warehouse, carefully keeping her hand near her armament, and the man hiding inside, who was hiding from the woman simply because she ended up following him by sheer happenstance at first.

And he was still hiding, keeping quiet and peeking in between some of the shelving to try and keep watch of his watcher.

However, this stand-off didn't last for too long. One of the workers who was working the heavy machinery came back around the building from where he left his companions for just a moment, rejoining the work crew, his face impassive. Not an unusual thing to happen, workers needed a break every once in a while as well, and dock workers often found themselves with the opportunity to slip away and sometimes even catch some winks behind some crates. But in this case, the worker returned after doing something else, something he was being paid on the side for to do.

And a minute later, the woman in yellow outside of the warehouse was suddenly joined by a somewhat larger group of individuals. Two batarians, armed to the teeth, joined by a krogan and half a dozen vorcha, all dressed in mish-mashed and unlabeled armor of mercenary affiliation came around two corners of the warehouse from either side, keeping eye on the open entrance into the warehouse. The dock workers quickly took a look and scrambled on out of there quick as they could, leaving Nanami standing in the open with a group of mercs slowly closing in on her position.

They were heavily armed and armored, but none of them were actively aimind their weapons or waving them about hostilely. In fact, even the vorcha seemed less... Enthusiastic than they normally would be, perhaps due to the batarians keeping them on a good,. short leash, or they were smarter than the average breed. The krogan with them looked like a surly sort, one eye covered by an eyepatch and toting a shotgun that looked large enough to rip a man's arm off with sheer recoil if fired.

One of the batarians raised an arm, halting the procession a respectful distance away from Nanami, carefully watching the woman in yellow.

"... Would you terribly mind going elsewhere to loiter? We've got some business in this warehouse, private business. Outsiders and unknowns not welcome."

While this happened outside, inside the young hacker hid behind the shelving, gulping heavily as he broke into cold sweat, panic beginning to settle in. Were those guys after him? How did they find him? How the hell did they even know he was here? Or were they after the woman?

Taking a deep breath and trying to calm himself, he decided to observe a little more. Hell, he could do nothing else now. There was no back exit out of the warehouse that he knew of, and if he left his hiding spot, then he may be shot at. And he's had enough being shot at when he was one of the corporation's spies.

“Ummm... please don't take this as an insult, but do you know how to run the self diagnostics on these types of fighters? A lot of pilots claim they can but... don't...” Galv said. Pilots tended to be pretty cocky. “I can show you, if you don't...”

Melanie paused, faltering in confidence, but after a second gave a nod. "I do....I think...I mean they taught us in the academy...Well, let's see if I remember! What's the worst that could happen?"

With that the girl smiled, moving past him to scoot in, once she was seated she paused.

There were so many buttons, even more than back at the academy....She felt a wave of nervousness, but once again shook it off and flipped a few switches.

"Just like you were taught Mel..." she mumbled to herself, starting diagnostics slowly. She then looked to the young man "Ummmm now what?"

[...]

“... but you know, if you still want to be a nurse, there is the medic program. They teach you and even pay for your classes. Then you could actually see some of that stuff.”

"That actually sounds pretty amazing...I mean not the seeing horrible stuff but being able to help...." Sarai answered, still following Connor down the hall. Suddenly she froze, looking down at her watch. "Ah! I'm sorry i'm running really late...F-For my dad...The Security bay is this way right?"

[Flux]

“Are you two any good?”

Chloe wrinkled her nose at Jimi's tone, the girl plopping down beside him and looking around for a drink, when she found none she stole a half empty one from the next table. "Any good! We're the BEST! We are professionally trained, super awesome, super skilled! And because I come in such an adorable five foot nothing package no one ever suspects me!"

Nanami felt them before she saw them. That same mystic twinge down her spine that told her danger was near. She turned to see the group of various aliens working their way towards her and Nanami wanted to swear. This was the last thing she needed right now, but she had long since learned to trust her intuition when it came to situations.

She silently sized them up. The Vorcha weren't a major concern. She had dealt with more than her share in the past and had gotten used to fighting them. The Batarians were a bigger challenge. She knew from the worst kind of experience that four eyes typically made them better shots.

Then there was The Krogan. Big, tough and if he was anything like most Krogans a love of combat and a nasty temper. Nanami had seen just how dangerous a pissed off Krogan could be, and would have been fine with that being a one-time occurrence.

“... I've got business too, but if you stay out of my way I'll stay out of yours. No reason this needs to get ugly.” Nanami replied in a monotone.

[Alliance Military Base]

Connor blinked, and then realized they had spent more time talking than walking and he felt a bit sheepish. He rubbed his neck and nodded. “Yeah, it's just ahead of us, not too far from here.”

[Flux]

“She's right.” Musashi nodded. “We're top quality around here. As long as you've got the cash we can do the job, no problem.”

[Shopping District]

“Trust me pal, you don't want to fight me period.” Kagura replied with a frown. “Each one of these darts is more than enough to put you down and keep you that way for at least a day.”

She eyed them both. This job was more complicated than she'd expected. She hesitated, though, as she listened to Edda.

“... Normally I'd laugh in your face and put a dart in your neck if you try to bribe me because I'm a professional – buuuut I don't have any love for the Empire. What are you offering?”

[Omega]

[Afterlife]

Once they were out of earshot from Aria, Haruka threw her arm around Lily's shoulder. “Hot damn, did you hear that? With this much cash we can finally get out of this stinking hellhole! I can afford a GOOD ship, we might even be able to hire a crew... actually get this pirate band all pirate-y!”

She paused as Lily brought up the job they now had to complete. “Huh? Yeah, yeah, scout it out, I guess you're right... let's just hurry and get this done!”

The tense situation was somewhat lost on Solei, even though she had prepared to keep Edda stationary, had he tried running again. The best way to work out problems was to gather the needed information, and then talk out ones differences face to face.

The glow faded from Solei's hair and eyes, and the metal around Edda stopped feeling quite so spongey. Solei also started to calmly smile, as she stepped out from being completely between Kagura and Edda.

"It is much better to help each other, than to try and fight each other" Solei then spoke out, before continuing, "And if you are still concerned about food after your negotiations, perhaps I could work with you to find the market store that sells fresh fruit."

The Batarian who previously spoke let out a small sigh of annoyance and shrugged.

"Then you're just going to have to wait your turn. We have immediate business, so you can take a hike for a little while. Preferably somewhere out of sight. If you stay, I will not guarantee your safety, nor will I stop any of my compatriots from 'accidentally' putting a pulse laser through your skull."

He raised an arm and motioned forward, and the Vorcha immediately pulled their weapons, chattering between themselves as they trained the weapons on the warehouse entrance. the second Batarian also moved closer to the building, taking position at the side of the entrance, weapon not raised but still quite readied. The Krogan, however...

The Krogan made several steps forward to get right in Nanami's face.

"Leave. Leave and don't look back. If you know what's good for you."

Kagura slowly lowered her wrist. She stayed blocking the path out of the alleyway though.

“Help each other, huh? You're a weird one, lady, but I like that... I think that's what these Alliance guys are always preaching... but in Imperial space there's only one rule, and that's that the strong survive and the weak die.”

She shrugged her shoulders. “Guess it's good we're not in Imperial space right now.”

[Civilian Dock Warehouse]

Nanami knew she had to play this carefully. The Batarians were no-doubt great shots, and the Krogan could tear her in half if she let him. The Vorcha weren't too bad, but they had numbers, and could take her apart if she wasn't careful. All together there were too many for her to have a chance against right now.

So she decided to play mind games.

“... I'm looking for a shipment of extremely volatile chemicals. One stray laser through the wrong crate and everyone around will be exposed to the kind of nasty sh*t that liquefies your insides. Judging from those weapons, you plan on at least the possibility of a major fire fight. So if you'd like to chance it, I'll go ahead and take my leave and hopefully you don't die writhing in your own excrement – but if you'd rather eliminate the unexpected variable from whatever job you're pulling, then how about you let me find my crate?”

It was a complete and total lie, but Nanami told it with a straight face and the annoyed scowl of someone who was completely serious.

The Krogan glared at her and was about to say something when the Batarian pulled him back, looking rather uncomfortable and somewhat alarmed as he did so.

"Volatile? I didn't hear anything about a volatile shipment. Rat bastard must have skimped on his damn reports again. Knew I shouldn't have trusted him."

He rubbed the back of his head, before making a sharp whistle and stopped the Vorcha in their place.

"That's a problem then. We can't shoot into the place or it would probably bring the whole building and C-Sec down on our heads in short order. But I'm not about to let a bounty go. So tell you what. We'll give you a cut of the bounty price, and you point out the crate and help us with our business."

The krogan growled stepping forward again. "The hell you doing, Zax? That wasn't part of the deal." He looked like he was about to raise his gun, but the Batarian just shook his head.

"This is now a right mess. You'll get your full cut, krogan. I swear on it. But you need to be around to earn your share, so stop posing and listen for a moment."

A snort of disbelief from the krogan was enough to say exactly what he thought of the situation. "And if she's in with our target?"

The batarian shrugged. "Then we shoot her full of holes for being a lying cheat. No offense, lady, but I don't handle lies very well, and neither do my friends. So if you've been bullshitting us, turn around and walk away now. We won't shoot, I swear on it. But if there really is that shipment in there... The offer stands."

The krogan shoved past Nanami and the batarian then, heading to the warehouse. "On your own head. You're paying her from your share, Zax. I'm not letting her a single one of my earned credits."

Nanami was internally pleased that her deception worked; but she didn't show it on her face. She watched as the Krogan and the Batarian argued. This was perfect. They clearly weren't as cohesive unit. The Batarian didn't even refer to the Krogan by a name; only as 'Krogan'. There was no trust between them and likely no bond. That made it much easier to exploit them than it would be if they were battled-hardened allies.

“Whoa, hold on... I'm a smuggler, not a bounty hunter.” Nanami shook her head. “Judging from how heavily armed you all are, you're after someone dangerous. Not really my scene.”

She pretended to hesitate. If she seemed overly eager it would just make them more suspicious. “... Tell you what, I'll come with you and find my crate. If we find your bounty first, then I'll take you up on that offer and help. If I find my crate I'll just leave with it and you don't have to pay me a thing.”

She grabbed a PDA from her back pocket and displayed an image of a large wooden crate with an orange sticker on the front. “This is what I'm looking for. If you see it, just make sure you don't shoot.”

In truth the crate was the one currently being unloaded from her ship that she'd picked up and delivered to the Citadel... but they didn't need to know that part.

The batarian also looked quite pleased with the outcome. Heck, the girl he was talking even said that she might not take part of the pay-out! He was QUITE happy with that outcome.

"Deal, lady. Alright! Let's get this party rolling! Don't fire unless there's hostiles, try to go for a capture if you can. Move, move, move!"

And with that, the Krogan moved in, flanked on either side by Vorcha with the Batarian moving around the side of the warehouse and the second staying nar the entrance with weapon drawn. And they did move in quite carefully, though the Krogan looked to be a bit too eager to get a fight started, moving quickly.

C, having seen all of this, decided that his position couldn't get any worse than it already was at the moment, and they would find him in just a few seconds if he stayed where he was, so he moved further into the warehouse, keeping hidden behind various stacks and crates, trying to remain out of sight. As a former corporate spy and hacker, he was quite good at remaining unseen when he had the surroundings to do so, so he decided to take an elevated position, climbed up a few crates and watched from a high stack of pallets as the krogan and two vorcha passed almost right underneath him.

If only he still had access to some of Uplink's toys... But no, he only had a small personal firearm on him. And that wasn't even enough to put a scratch on the batarians let alone the big guy of the lot, unless he got really lucky.

And with the last of the group keeping eyes from the entrance... This wasn't looking too good for him.

Galv blushed as Melanie moved past him, watching as she started running the diagnostics.

“It's running now here, it looks like,” Galv said, trying to lean slightly so he could see the screens, but was trying not to get too close to Melanie.

He moved slightly, his foot slipping falling forward as he tried to check, falling into the cockpit with Melanie!

Because I'm terrible.

“Could you track a Force user?” Hammah asked then, Jimi frowning as Hammah went right for it. “There's not a lot of those left...”

Edda breathed a little easier, glancing towards Solei and Kagura.

“Okay... we'd have to go back to my ship first,” Edda said, “That's where I have the tech. I'm not too sure what you'd be interested in, but there's some armor, a couple weapons, at least.”

He was perfectly willing to play fair if Kagura was, but he did have extra insurance at his ship...

-Omega-

Streets

Shadow tensed, glaring at the draiken.

“The Empire isn't going to have us,” Shadow said. “Omega, smokescreen!”

Omega suddenly let out a burst of smoke from his systems, billowing up to cover him, Shadow Chaos Controlling to Omega to warp him out!

Afterlife

Lily smiled as Haruka perked up, though sighed slightly as Haruka didn't appear to be taking the job too seriously.

“If they're trying to keep a low profile, maybe it'll just be a couple lonely guards we could lure away and take out,” Lily suggested as they headed towards the docks.

Docks

There were quite a few ships docked at Omega, though an Empire ship was docked there, a couple troopers standing sentry outside...

Nanami was relieved as the Batarian agreed, and she moved silently behind the group. Playing the part of a 'mere smuggler', she stayed back a bit and examined some of the crates as they passed. All the while she was trying to concoct a plan of attack. The only 'weapon' she had on her was a pistol, and it would hardly cut through the heavier armor they were wearing.

One thing she was sure of, though, was that once more her 'senses' had led her on a strange path. She now knew the odd man she'd seen was most likely the target of these bounty hunters, and if he had inspired such a large group, then he must have a substantial bounty on his head.

So who was he? Nanami would have to find out somehow.

“By the way, you got a description of whoever or whatever you're looking for? I can't very well watch for someone when I have no idea what I'm looking for.” Nanami asked.

[Flux]

Musashi's eyes went wide when Hammah brought up the idea of tracking a force user. He was now sure of what he had seen before at the bar. This guy was force-sensitive, and he apparently knew how to use it.

“... That depends on why you're looking for a force-user.” Musashi's entire demeanor changed. “You're not... Imperials, are you?”

[Shopping District]

“Fine.” Kagura shrugged her shoulders, but there was a glint in her eyes behind her glasses. “But if this is a trick, or you try to run... just know I don't miss.”

She then stepped out of the way. “Well, lead us to your ship, I guess.”

[Omega]

[Docks]

As they got closer to the docks, Haruka stopped near the entrance and whipped out a pair of portable binoculars. She brought them up to her eyes and pressed a button, letting the enhanced scanner on the end of them flash across the docks.

“... Hmm, okay. There's a ship with Imperial markings at the far side. Looks like they have some of those damn Stormtroopers standing guard. Hate to see those bastards on Omega.” Haruka complained.

"Ummmmm is there a restroom around here? I should freshen up before I see my dad" She asked, trying not to sound nervous or look odd.

“Could you track a Force user?”

Chloe silently looked over at Musashi, not entirely sure of their answer. She didn't have any sort of sense for force users....And she was pretty sure Musashi didn't ether. But she wanted to prove herself.

“... That depends on why you're looking for a force-user. You're not... Imperials, are you?”

Chloe clenched her fist, but stayed calm for the moment....

In another section of the main hangar, the doors opened and in walked a woman with a troubled brow. Shepard stared down at a small digital projector in her hand, reviewing her notes as she walked towards the section where her ship was parked. She glanced around, looking for any of the engineers on duty, and then simply sighed and hurried on towards the Normandy.

“Um, I think so.” Connor rubbed his neck. He wanted to talk to this girl more – she seemed kind, and she was very pretty – but he knew he shouldn't keep her. “I think it's just around the corner.”

The team of bounty hunters spread out while the batarian stuck close to Nanami, pulling out a photo taken from a street pass of a man with a very long blonde braid. A very distinct braid she saw previously on the man who was now somewhere in this warehouse.

"This is the guy we're looking for. Rune something or other. He's some corporate flunky that the Empire's put a pretty big bounty on, and we intent to collect. No love lost there, but the reward is worth balancing on the edge, They must REALLY want him to put a price as high as they did on him."

He put the picture away, once more raising his rifle to a readied position.

"You don't need to worry. He's never fired a shot against his other hunters, so he's a wuss. Just some runaway flunky with a big price."

As he spoke, his team continued to sweep the area, but the vorcha were starting to get a bit restless and the krogan began to knock over some of the crates and boxes as well, trying to find a target that appeared to have vanished into thin air.

Nanami studied the image, and she now knew it was the man her 'senses' had alerted her to. Any lingering doubt she had about this all being a bad coincidence was gone. If the Empire was offering a major bounty on him, than he was worth finding, even if only to make sure the Empire didn't.

She followed silently behind the others, eyeing the Vorcha as they seemingly grew restless and started to lose their focus. That could be just what she needed if things went bad. Any division between these bounty hunters – anything to draw their focus or break their concentration could provide the valuable seconds needed for an attack.

Not that she planned on that yet.

Then, suddenly, her own communicator went off. She swore and quickly answered it, bringing it to her ear.

“Now's not the best time.”
