[The Citadel: Hawkins' Ship] “Oh I'm not threatening you.” Rica's voice was calm and quiet, and it had an unmistakably cold undertone. “The Shadow Broker has connections in both the Empire and the Alliance... and when I say the name Hawkins' will be poison, I'm not referring exclusively to you. That boy in there, any other family you have... they'll have a price on their head forever. Is the brutal slaughter of your family really worth your pride?” [Docks: The Cold Iron] “... If half the rumors are true, let's hope not.” Kanan spoke in his usual cryptic way. He didn't want to tell them the details of the rumors. Expert Jedi, some of the finest Masters, all slaughtered by this supposed warlord. [Omega: Afterlife] Vegeta stopped when Aria attacked, only long enough to turn on her and narrow his eyes. “Watch it woman! I'm the Prince of all Saiyans! I'll blow this entire asteroid to hell if you tempt me!” Vegeta wanted very much to live up to that threat; but he was an Imperial lackey like any other... not that he'd admit that. [Space: Damion's Ship] “I dunno, Lils, looks pretty appropriate to me.” Haruka commented, but she didn't protest too much. She just sat in the chair, spinning absently and looking down at her hands – until finally Sayuri returned. “Yeah, I suppose that'll work.” |

[Citadel] -The Cold Iron- Kay frowned. It really seemed that nothing added up about this situation. Mr. Guillory disappears, leaves two kids behind—one of which was also attuned to the Force. No warning, no note, nothing. He must have had a very important reason for doing so. Kay had a suspicion that Jimi and Hammah's dad was up to something sinister. Of course she couldn't be sure, not knowing their father very well at all. There had to be an explanation for all of it, and that was their end-goal. She could only hope his reason for leaving was less suspicious than she could assume. [Omega] -Docks- “You got a report for us?” With her serious business expression still plastered on her face, Windsong glared at the Stormtrooper. There were two ways to deal with this. One, she could make up a story. Nothing she had thought of on the way really made sense, considering the man didn't appear like a prisoner. Or, she assumed he didn't. Another way was intimidation. Draikens were trained to be deadly with much more than guns, and so earned a strange reputation of being much like police dogs; obedient, but dangerous to cross paths with. “It's none of your concern,” Windsong finally said. |

[TARDIS] C pondered for a moment as the Doctor professed his trust in Jenny, wondering if he was doing the right thing. In a way, he was still very hesitant, but he was sure that he couldn't do what he wanted to do alone. He couldn't handle this without allies, and without Uplink to back him up this time, he really was grasping at straws when it came to getting good help. The Doctor was as close to a god-send as could happen in the current situation, and if he was to be trusted, him and Jenny... Then maybe C could actually do more than run and hide. Especially if they had access to an actual time machine, if a somewhat temperamental one. "... Alright." C took one last look at the dark control room, his look somewhat full of longing as he felt the sudden urge to go back there, to reconnect with old friends, to return back to the times when the Invisibles were together and he had solid backup. But the feeling passed, leaving him feeling empty and hollow. That was the past. Those friends were nowhere to be found where he belonged. As he stepped into the TARDIS after the Doctor, he closed the door behind him and sighed, pausing for a few moments, letting the silence hang. But finally, his head came back up and he spoke. "Alright, listen. I'll trust you with this, so don't go blabbing to anyone, alright? I DID get something from Pip. It's a file, a heavily encoded and encrypted file, large in size and locked down better than the Imperial prison. All I have is suppositions, and I have a few of those. First, Pip's been dropping hints to me for a long time that he's been working on something really big for the Empire. He'd been locked down with non-disclosure agreements and enough red tape, but he's popped into contact every once in a while, and it's always about a huge project he was working on. Some form of massive security project the Empire wanted to get developed for something. Pip's been working on it for a long time and disappeared for months at a time, but along with it, he was also working on some personal project, which was somehow connected. And then the gov-hack came." C sighed running a hand through his hair uncomfortably. "It all ties together somehow. This thing that I got from Pip, the Empire's sudden interest in Uplink and its agency, sudden disappearance of agents, and me on the run. And this thing he sent me. I have no idea what the heck it even is, just a very compressed and encrypted file named 'Heart'." He paused for a long time, as though thinking about something, and then nodding to himself continued. "... And then, there's me. Uplink had been contracted to work on three different large projects for the Empire, each secret from one another, and each dealing with something big. Huge. Pip and his team worked on whatever security complex they were given, our active teams and the current active Invisibles were in search of something I wasn't informed of, and... I was also part of a team working on something. An AI. It was supposed to have originally been some easy money, but the project exploded and the people who wanted us to complete the project kept changing the specifications on us little by little until I saw a nasty trend. It was something weaponized, an Artificial Intelligence developed for mass strategic deployment of unmanned craft in support of fleets. In just statistical numbers, it would have allowed for logistical deployment of four unmanned units to every one manned ship, all supposedly working in concert with manned units while the Artificial Intelligence ran full-time battlefield control." C snorted. "By that time though, I was personally invested in the project. I built the core of the intelligence, built her from the ground up. I didn't want to let it all go, and the Artificial Intelligence grew on me. She's evolved much quicker than even I expected, it was a success I couldn't imagine, and she was so REAL, so ALIVE by the time the project was coming to its end... I couldn't help myself. I couldn't let the Empire have her, wipe her and use her like some weapon, so I stole the core and wiped the other backup research files, scapegoated the Imperial agents and ran. Looks like I've finally been found out though. Maybe. Or maybe they're just after Pip's file." He grinned somewhat weakly at The Doctor. "So there you go. That's all I've got." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Citadel, Presidium] The sight of the Presidium Ring was always a sight to behold from the inside. the most pristine part of the Citadel, it was also the most beautiful, featuring a fake sky, plants and gardens, and a structure that looked elegant and in its own way beautiful and imposing. It is here that the majority of big businesses struck their deals, this was the place for the more famous of merchants, and this was the place that housed the governing body of the Alliance. And it is here that Alita came to seek the local agent of the Shadow Broker, heading toward the office usually kept just as pristine as the rest of the Presidium. So it was to her great surprise that when she finally approached the place she was told to go to, she found that the area had been cordoned off by C-Sec and there were enough agents with weapons here to make any thought of assault questioned. And the center of this blockade was the door to the Shadow Broker Agent's office. Carefully approaching so she wouldn't be considered hostile, she zeroed in on the nearest C-Sec officer, a rather surly-looking Turian, and leaned forward, looking curious. "Hello! What happened here, sir, if it's not restricted know-how?" Edited by HellAvatar, May 22 2017, 07:32 PM.

[TARDIS] The Doctor stood and listened patiently as C explained everything that had happened, both with himself and Pip. The more C spoke, the darker the Doctor's expression grew. Having a bounty on his head from the Empire could have meant anything. C could have simply annoyed some Imperial Officer, or he could have knowledge of something important, or they could have just seen him as a defector... This? This was big. Bigger than the Doctor had anticipated. The top secret project Pip had been working on sounded enormous, and this AI that C had been working on... “You may have saved more lives than you can imagine, by doing what you did.” The Doctor stated bluntly. “If this AI is as advanced as you say... one that can run a full battlefield...” His frown deepened. The might of the Imperial armada, all controlled with the precision of a machine. It could suddenly change the balance of power – already in the Empire's favor – to a much deeper rift, with the Alliance suddenly much more vulnerable. “You're certain you wiped all the back ups? If there are none left, then the Empire's only source of retrieving that AI will be finding you. In that case... I can see why you want to run.” The Doctor turned towards C, and in that moment the weight of his true age was visible on his face. He had seen so many people run from something horrible... and in truth, he was running himself. He had run from the demise of the Time Lords. He had run from the Empire and he had run from a secret buried deep inside that even Jenny didn't know. “Right, first thing is first – we need to know what's on Pip's file. If the Empire is after that, or after your AI – or both – we can't tell until we have all the pieces. Besides... what's on that file could be very important. You say you can't break the encryption? What would you need to get it open?” [Citadel: Shadow Broker's Office] The office on the Presidium was swarming with C-Sec operatives, buzzing two and fro and trying to figure out just what in the hell had happened. When Alita approached the nearest one, he stopped a looked at her. “Murder,” The Turian stated bluntly. “Somebody killed the guy who works here. You one of the Broker's clients?” |

[TARDIS] C gave a helpless shrug, shaking his head from side to side and chuckling. "Heheh. I have NO idea! This is Pip, he's been in Uplink for over fifteen years by the time I joined, and he was a paranoid bastard. I saw his face only once, only twice heard his voice, he always liked to communicate using his callsign and username. The first time I ever saw his face was by sheer accident when I was looking into some internal sabotage stuff back when I was a novice in Uplink." the young man took a deep breath and shrugged again, spreading his hands. "He was always working on something new, and he was the core cryptographer Uplink had, literally one of the best in the company, and possibly one of the best in the entire Empire. If I wanted to crack open that file, I'd need his own keymap for the encryption, or a cracker that he developed. And my guess is that if anyone has it, it's in the Empire's clutches by now if it even exists." But suddenly he looked quite proud of himself, drawing up and inflating just a bit. "I can assure you though, all the AI backups are gone. There are no copies, no backups, no code snippets. It's all gone, I made sure to hard-wipe the drives all of it was on. The only things left of the AI are the maintenance files, which I have with me, and the core of the AI, which I also have with me right here and now." --------------------------------------------------------- [Citadel Presidium: Shadow Broker's Office] Alita nodded, frowning at the news and straightening up. "Sort of. I have come here on the behalf of a returning client that needs to get in touch with the Shadow Broker and facilitate another exchange, but... Well, this certainly doesn't look good. Do you know who could have possibly done something like this so openly on the Presidium?" |

[TARDIS] The AI backups being gone was welcome news – but knowing that Pip's files were basically uncrackable was not. Given enough time, The Doctor could probably find his own way to crack those files – but it was far from his area of expertise and could potentially take a very long time... and while he had time to spare, the universe did not. “Then we're going to need his keymap. If the Empire does have it, it'll be stored at the ISB headquarters... that means actually going to the Imperial capitol.” That thought wasn't a fun one. Boarding Tarkin's ship had been bad enough, marching right up to the capitol of the Empire was far worse. Especially now that his presence was known. [Citadel Presidium: Shadow Broker's Office] The Turian watched Alita for a moment. He doubted the killer would so brazenly return to the scene of the crime, but he couldn't rule it out. So he watched her warily. “We don't know yet, but we're going to find them. This is big news... that Broker is known all over the galaxy. Somebody whacking one of his top people... well, they better hope it's us that finds him.” |

[The Citadel: Hawkins' Ship] “All it takes is one little call and suddenly the name Hawkins' will get the attention of every bounty hunter in the galaxy. You won't be able to go out and piss yourself without someone shadowing you, waiting for a chance to put you down.” . “And oh my, dear me, you're threatening a seventy year old man. I'm sure that impresses the ladies quite a bit.” "You'd be surprised" Kanna said with a slight smirk, instantly earning a glare from Jason. Suddenly the door made a noise, opening to reveal a very pissed off Melanie "Oh for the love of-" She glared at Rica and Kanna. "What do you guys even want?!" She then blinked, looking to Jacob. "Uhhhh n-not you. H-Hi! I'm Melanie Narroh, it's very nice to meet you" [The Citadel: Coffee Shop] “That's a good question, but not much we can do about it right now. We need to get off the Citadel... and that won't exactly be easy. We have to assume your dad has connections enough to watch the ports... so we'll have to improvise....We'll need disguises...” Sarai gave a tiny nod, still looking worried. But despite everything it was nice to have someone like Moira taking charge of the situation. While she was used to taking instruction from her father this was the first time in a long time that she felt like someone had her best interests in mind. "Okay....I guess clothes are the first thing....Though I don't really have anything but these-" She was still wearing the oversized uniform Connor had found for her. [Flashback] Naturally Chloe went into things- like this attack- full throttle, not even noticing that the boy stuck his foot out as he moved to the side. With a yelp the girl skidded to the floor with a loud thud. Without missing a beat Chloe jumped back up, going at Edda again. She didn't like looking dumb and now she was pissed. |

-The Citadel- Hawkins' Ship Jacob's blood boiled, rage building up as Rica threatened his grandchildren. He was about to order his machine(s) to open fire, when the door to his ship opened and Melanie stepped outside. “...Hello, miss...” Jacob said, seeing Galv moving next to Melanie, who also glared at Rica and Kanna. This was awkward. Docks: The Cold Iron “I'm sure he had to have some explanation...” Hammah said, believing completely in his father. “Yah...” Jimi said, who wasn't quite as sure. He did think their father had what he believed to be a good reason, but he wasn't sure he would think it would be. Presidum: Shadow Broker's Office “Well darn it, I needed some info.” Walking not too far from the turian officer and Alita was a human sized robotic being that appeared to be disappointed. -Omega- Docks: Empire Ship The Stormtrooper began to say something, then stopped, looking confused. “I... right, right, go on ahead,” the Stormtrooper said, shaking his head as the two draikens and their mysterious kidnapper were allowed to go further. “When we get inside, watch for others. I need to get to a console,” the voice behind them said quietly so no one else would hear. Afterlife “Prince?! HA! I'm the Queen of Omega, and no one f*cks with me!” Aria yelled. Several krogan burst into the room now, wearing combat armor. “Ahhh!” Bulma yelled, ducking down as several shots passed over her. “Hey, she's our target!” Nappa yelled, firing a blast at one of the krogans before charging forward to engage in battle. “Uhhhh... Maybe we should deal with these guys, then we can continue our fight!” Goku suggested to Vegeta. -T.A.R.D.I.S.- “Maybe we should get some help,” Jenny suggested to The Doctor, listening in on everything. “I'm sure there's a few people we could call in.” -Flashback- Edda kept a straight face as Chloe charged again. He was tempted to do the same thing but instead he rolled completely out of the way, moving to Chloe's right before he sprang up and threw an arm out, attempting to punch just below her shoulder! |

[Citadel] -Docks: The Cold Iron- “Well that's what we're after,” Kay said the the brothers. The process itself was simple. Find their missing father, then confront him and get some answers. Actually doing so, as they were finding, was easier said than done. Kay understood completely why Jimi wasn't so optimistic about the venture. There were a lot of risks being taken. Too many wrong turns would be, for lack of better word, expensive. “The faster we get there, the sooner we find him.” [Omega] -Docks: Empire Ship- The draiken siblings lead the man into the ship in silent compliance. Neither of the two wanted to be back on this ship even for a second, but getting this done quickly and without fuss would result in fewer causalities. As they got inside, Windsong pointed ahead. “There's a console over there. Make it quick.” The orange draiken girl knew very much that she and her brother were the ones in the hostage situation, but (mostly to calm her brother, who was getting fidgety) she attempted to keep a stern, strong tone. Comply, but don't be a doormat. Obey, but don't do it with your tail between your legs. If only I had the nerve to do that with Empire authorities, Windsong thought. Leaving the Empire was one thing, but actually confronting and standing up to them...she didn't want to think about it. |

-The Citadel- Melanie looked up to Galv's grandfather, trying not to appear too disheveled. After all she had just been trying to have some alone time with his grandson- not that she would admit that. She extended her hand to shake "You're grandson mentioned you are quite a skilled engineer- it's an honor to meet you" "Did you make this ship?" Jason asked. "As much as I hate the idea of Mel playing tonsil twister in there- it's pretty impressive. Meanwhile Kanna still glared from her spot. "Don't suck up to this old man." she muttered. -Flashback- Once again in a flash of motion Chloe fell back, hitting the floor with a painful thump. She was getting increasingly frustrated, the little girl's dark cheek heating up in embarrassment as her father watched on. She didn't want him to see her mess up, to be knocked down so easily. She didn't want him to think she was weak or could be pushed around so easily. She didn't want him to think of her like her mother and stepfather did- The thought made her increasingly angry and panicked, the girl giving a tiny sniffle and wiping her blurry eyes. She then got up and went at Edda once more with everything she had- fully intending on knocking the little boy out this time. Much like those glasses she broke on her first night she no longer cared about the end result- she was just upset. |

-Omega- Docks: Empire Ship The figure moved forward now, exposing himself to the draiken. He was a young human male with dark hair, wearing some black outfit with a white coat over it. He moved to the console, tapping at it and producing a small device, plugging it in as files played across the screen. “Damn it,” the human said, scowling. “She was taken... By... who are they?” He seemed distracted... -The Citadel- Hawkins' Ship Jacob looked towards Rica and Kanna, then looked back towards Melanie, sighing softly. “It's... good to meet you too, miss,” he said, then turned towards Jason, nodding slightly. “My grandson here helped build this ship too. So did his sister some but she sadly lacked the knack I and my grandson have for machines.” -Flashback- As Chloe charged once more at Edda, she would suddenly be scooped up, Ethan picking her up. “That's enough Chloe,” Ethan said, speaking calmly. “You did fine...” |

-The Citadel- "I'm not an engineer but I can appreciate this kind of craftmanship" Jason said to Jacob. "I'm a gunner and pilot in the military, her too" he said motioning to Melanie. "Don't fangirl over him" Kanna spat Jason turned back "Lay off Kanna, they're not gonna hurt her and we're not going to hurt them" From her spot Melanie let out a small breath, looking to Galv. "Look sorry we ran off, we just thought since there was an alert on the base we should use the time to get to know eachother better" -Flashback- In her blind rage Chloe didn't even notice Ethan appearing at her side, scooping her up and holding her tightly so she couldn't escape. She thrashed for just a moment, eyes still on the little boy who bested her. She then noticed others were watching, the other students. Her cheeks warmed and she tried to calm herself down. She leaned into her shoulder and mumbled a tiny "sorry" against him. |

[The Citadel] [Coffee Shop] Moira sighed, shaking her head. She couldn't have Sarai running around in a random uniform from Connor. It didn't fit and she stuck out like a sore thumb. “I probably have some older stuff you could wear... though I don't think we'd much have the same taste in clothes.” Moira shrugged. “You can look through my closet if you want. If not we'll have to pick something up somewhere.” [Docks: The Cold Iron] Kanan watched the two, but fell silent. He didn't know their father, but he did know what happened to force-sensitive people when caught by the Empire... and he could only hope that they would be spared that fate. “Well, the temple on Lothal is our best bet to find him. Assuming we live long enough to get there.” [Hawkins' Ship] When the door opened and Melanie finally ventured out, Rica went silent. He had no real reason to start a fight... although in his silence, he did activate the camera built into his glasses and stealthily record a few frames of the old man. Jason wasn't wrong. This Hawkins guy was a talented engineer – the robotic guardian proved that. This sort of information was always useful to someone. [Omega] [Afterlife] Vegeta turned his head slightly, sighing with annoyance. Finding another Saiyan was a big deal – even if it was some lower-class trash like this Goku person. Still, Aria was his target and that made her a much bigger deal. “Damn it, we'll finish this later. Nappa! Deal with the Krogans, I'm going to take care of the blue lady.” Vegeta smirked, and he floated up off the ground and shot towards Aria with a demented smirk. [TARDIS] The Doctor was quiet, frowning and contemplating things. The run-in with Tarkin, C's errand and the mysterious data he carried, his earlier rendezvous with past mistakes... it was all a lot for one day. He had spent so long trying to avoid getting caught up in another war... “... For now we should get back to the Citadel.” Was all he said to Jenny as he moved and began manipulating the console. |

-The Citadel: Coffee Shop "T-Thank you" Sarai said softly, excusing herself so she could look through Moira's clothes for something appropriate to wear. She tried to keep her eyes on the closet, but the temptation to learn more about the girl was also very strong. With a tiny sigh the girl shook her head, not allowing herself to act on it. These people saved her, and were continuing protecting her- even now. She wouldn't let herself betray their trust. Sarai grabbed a pair of pants and a tank that looked as if it could fit, as well as an old weathered military jacket. She proceeded to yank her top over her head and change quickly, avoiding a few sore spots and new bruises on her back. She then reached down and pulled off a small knife that had been strapped to her leg so she could change pants. -Docks: The Cold Iron- "Well no time like the present! [The Citadel: Coffee Shop] Soon enough, Moira entered the room, looking slightly more stressed than before. “You almost done? We're leaving soon. I arranged for a ship to meet us at the docks, hopefully we can get out of the Citadel without any major issues.” She glanced at Sarai. “You need to think about what you're going to do next, after we get out of here. Probably should talk to Connor...” She paused, as if she wanted to say something, but then shrugged and shook her head, falling quiet. |
