"Maybe." Vidit said, handing Fire a soda from the minifridge.

"But experience tells me that even if they're WEAKER than the serious villains, the wacky folks here are quite...resourceful and resilient."

"Bee populations appear to be multiplying on the island. Rapidly." Cortana announced.

"But that has to stop, I think..." Vidit remarked.

Fire took the soda and opened it, drinking it and floating downwards some, like she was sitting in an invisible chair.

“Well, if you think it needs to be taken care of, we should... I could try calling Hammah, he might be helpful. He could... talk to the bees, or something,” Fire suggested.

Cortana spoke before Vidit could reply.

"By my calculations, the number of bees will reach levels speculated to be on that of a plague in short order if not curtailed." she said.

"Thank you, Cortana..." Vidit said.

He glaced at Fire floating there.

"So...do you feel more relaxed when you float lower like that, or do you just do that for appearance's sake? There ARE chairs you can sit in..." he chuckled a bit, perhaps even a bit nervously.

He looked at a map of Rapid Island, where the bee farm in Teh Town was highlighted.

"We should probably investigate this before it gets out of hand." he said. "Hammah may be helpful, but getting him involved so close to THEM territory could be...risky...as well. The advantages probably outweigh the risks, though...but I'm not sure these bees can be talked too. But perhaps he COULD pull it off."

He grabbed a soda for himself, and sat down at the desk.

"But not till I've had a sit-down. Cortana, the rate of bee population allows for a bit of a break, right?"

"Yes sir." Cortana replied, "Though as always, time is important..." she added.

“Hm? Oh... sorry, does it bother you?” Fire asked, genuine concern in her voice, straightening up and standing now, “It's... just sort of natural to me, to be honest...”

She considered mentioned she heard Jimi was like that too, from what Kxs and Hammah had spoken of him before, but decided against that.

She pulled out her phone though, typing at it and sending Hammah a text.

“I asked Hammah to meet us outside your outpost when he gets a chance,” Fire answered, then found a seat and sat down in it now, to rest for a moment.

Vidit paused, noting Fire seemed a bit too concerned by his question.

"You can float or sit as you please, Fire, I was just wondering why you chose to float even when chairs were available..." he said, a bit intrigued and a bit worried by her seeming overreaction...

"And meeting with Hammah sounds good. Still, we're going into Teh Town...a lot of potential encounters. To stop a bee epidemic. This...will be odd one way or another. Though he may have attracted THEM's attention already with the sudden spike in bee population right on its front door...I hope no one in Teh Town is allergic..." he said.

He paused a bit, observing Fire. She was pretty, no doubts there, and he DID enjoy her little pecks on the cheek...though it seemed odd to be regarding someone who was only "born" a year ago...physically and mentally mature though she was...and there were other issues to remember...

“Well, there's a lot of people at the Custard-I Temple,” Fire said, “So sometimes it's easier just floating then getting a chair.”

She smiled slightly towards Vidit, “It's just sort of habit... As for T.H.E.M... possibly, we might have to worry... Or Spork might just ignore it.”

There was a knock at the door now, Hammah having arrived!

Vidit raised an eyebrow.

"And they can't just get more chairs? That seems odd. Unless you prefer floating? But yeah, no worries. Habits aren't necessarily bad. Necessarily... "

Cortana's voice again.

"Hammah at the door, sir. Shall I let him in?"

Vidit nodded.

"Yes, and guide him in here. Thank you."

He looked back at Fire.

"I suppose it'll be only polite to offer him a drink too...then perhaps we'll be off. But...you think we can trust Hammah if Spork or Jimi attack us? I don't want to put him in a...compromising...situation, if it can be helped."

“It's faster, sometimes,” Fire answered, then paused as Hammah was being let in, thinking about Vidit's question.

“...If it is Spork, I believe Hammah will not aid him... If it is Jimi... it depends on what exactly is happening... if it's just stopping Dr. Bees, I think Jimi wouldn't show up...” Fire answered.

A couple moments later, Hammah appeared in the doorway, stepping inside.

“Hey there... so, something about Dr. Bees doing something close to Teh Town?” Hammah asked.

Vidit chuckled a bit at Fire's comment.

"Hopefully. That said, we don't know. Jimi thinks that I am incapable of doing a good deed, so he may have internally justified to himself any conflict with me as right and necessary. As for you, he may rope you into that as being an accomplice. That and the fact that our friendship agruably disproves his points, so if it was done away with..." he shook his head.

"Pardon me, just sometimes he and my disagreements get a bit...heated."

When Hammah appeared, Vidit nodded towards him.

"Welcome, Hammah, and that's right. It looks like bee populations, particularly in a bee sanctuary near Teh Twon, are exploding at an alarming, even exponential, rate. But can I offer you a drink before we head out?" he asked.

Hammah paused, frowning slightly, but not at Vidit, at the situation in general.

“That's... very weird. But okay, I should be able to help there,” Hammah said, pausing as Thaddius clucked, walking in behind him and stared at Vidit with a gaze that was way too intelligent for a chicken.

“Uhhh... Thaddius says hello. Also, I would love a drink, thank you,” Hammah added, shooting Thaddius a look.

“Cluck,” Thaddius merely responded, ruffling his feathers.

Vidit raised an eyebrow at Thaddius, then looked to Hammah.

"It's okay." he said, his face showing a somewhat sarcastic smirk.

"You can be up front about what he's saying." he said.

With that, he reached into his minifridge and handed Hammah a soda.

"So, that's the objective. Cortana, map of Teh Town please."

A holographic map of Teh Town appeared before them.

"The bee sanctuary is located...here." Vidit said, pointing at a spot at the hologram. "We don't want to pick a fight with THEM, that's not what we'll be going there for. That said...I have every intention of defending myself if challenged...and I imagine the two of you will as well."

He briefly thought about how Fire and Jimi, who appeared to have opposite opinions of him, would react upon meeting.

"We'll leave after we've had a bit of a load off and Hammah finishes his drink. Any questions?"

Hammah studied the map, deciding it was best not to discuss Thaddius's particular way of speaking to others for now.

“Unless we try anything against him, I don't think The Professor will do anything,” Hammah said, the paused for a moment, “At least... before the Darkness, that's what he would do. He'd let us handle things, and not bother to use any resources.”

He frowned now, “But now... I suppose there's a chance he might try something after wards, if we look like he can get something by fighting us... but during, he won't try anything.”

Vidit sipped his own drink, nodding at Hammah.

"I see...well, let's look at the possibilities-you are his "son" he considers in rebellion against him-not sure he thinks he can gain anything by killing me, that would bring the full wrath of the Society on the island and I think even as he is, Spork would think twice before triggering that...as for Fire, a do-gooder and rival, perhaps, to his own efforts...he may take offense at do-gooder counterparts/similar people to his own affairs...but that's just my speculation."

He looked toward Hammah.

"What are the odds Jimi will interfere?"

He looked to Fire. "And do you have anything to add, Fire?"

Hammah frowned, again, not at Vidit, but at the situation in general.

“The Professor won't try to kill anyone...” Hammah said, though half sounded like he was trying to convince himself. “But no, I don't think The Professor will try anything... As for my brother...”

Hammah frowned, thinking. “He might try something... not to stop us, but to stop anyone in Teh Town from getting hurt. I wouldn't be surprised if he was there already...”

Hammah then glanced towards Fire, then towards Vidit, shaking his head, “I don't think The Professor would care about Fire unless she was trying to stop him there as well.”

Fire nodded slightly, standing up now, “I doubt Spork would be too interested in myself or Miji... Mom said that we are not as...” Fire paused, searching for the right word, “...Altered, as Jimi and Hammah...”

Hammah looked a little sheepish nodding, “The Professor is a better geneticist then Doctor Aboy. Jimi and I have more... perks, then Fire and Miji. They're pretty much normal, minus... well... Fire's powers.”

Fire then continued, “As for what to add... I can't think of anything, you all know this world and the people in it better then I do. If Jimi does try something against us, I can hold my own against him, if Hammah can't talk to him.”

"Alirght..." Vidit nodded.

He looked Hammah in the eye.

"But Hammah, I don't want to put you in a compromising position. If...if Spork or Jimi show up...and you can't talk them down...let Fire and I deal with it." he said. "I don't want to ask you to raise an arm against your...family...unless there's no other option..."

He nodded towards Fire...then smirked a little.

"I can hold my own against Jimi as well, albeit in a different way than you, milady. Hopefully the villains will be outnumbered, so we can gang up on them, if they're there."

He took a deep breath.

"Alright, if everyone's ready, we'll head out."
