“I'd rather have them and not need them, then need them and not have them,” Edda shrugged, putting them away and zipping up the bag as Liam ran up to Chloe.

“Ohhh, candy!” Liam said, “Yay!”

As he got the money for candy and ran off, excited for the sweet treat, Edda looked over at Chloe.

“Something you need to tell me privately?” Edda asked, then paused. Wait... she wasn't... but maybe... “...Wait, you're not pregnant again, are you?!”

Swing and a miss, Edda.

-Hawkins' House-

“I'm okay,” Blake said, still quiet. He rubbed his left arm idly, as if distracted by something, glancing towards the side.

Meanwhile, Galv was about to go and get changed himself, stopping when he saw Melanie come down the stairs, his brain temporarily shutting down.

“Wait, Melanie doesn't look like Kanna!” Galv said, his brain rebooting now, then paused, as it absorbed this information, part of his brain thinking that over.

Galv paused, then went quiet again, not quite able to come to terms with Melanie looking like her mother.

“Something you need to tell me privately...Wait, you're not pregnant again, are you?!”

Chloe sat up on the bed, choking on a bit of air as Edda assumed the worst. "W-what? No!" she exclaimed immediately. While she absolutely adored Liam the fact was the boy was kind of a mistake....She knew that sounded harsh but it was true. Chloe had never particularly wanted children, thinking that they were loud, messy balls of neediness....So when she found herself pregnant (in the middle of an excursion in the rainforest mind you) she was understandably surprised....And upset.

Luckily where Chloe lacked in excitement Edda made up for ten-fold. The young man adored the idea of being a dad and because of this (and a lot of reassurance that she would still be able to train and fight for most of her pregnancy) Chloe decided to just go for it. After all what's the worst that could happen raising a kid while traveling around the world?

"I'm not pregnant" Chloe repeated, one more time for good measure. She stood back up, walking over to the man. "Rumor has it that my parents live in the city..." she started, trying not to look nervous in the least "I was thinking about maybe going to see them"

-Hawkins' House-

Solanna frowned a bit at Blake's behavior, but tried not to linger on it too long. The boy had always been a tiny bit strange, but he was so sweet she didn't want to fault him for it.

Meanwhile Melanie was STILL trying to get her brother to put her down. The man was unfortunately a lot stronger than her....

Luckily Jason didn't want to torture Melanie too long, depositing her in front of Galv, making sure not to let her down too hard.

"Gee thanks" Melanie muttered gaining her footing and fixing her dress.

“Oh, okay,” Edda said, nodding when Chloe said she wasn't pregnant. He was glad, he loved Liam immensely, but Liam was starting to get old enough (at least, the same age Edda was when his father started showing him a few of the more dangerous places of the Wastes), and Edda was looking forward to doing that. Another kid on the way could hamper that.

...Though part of him was disappointed nonetheless, but he'd never say that to Chloe.

Then the rest of Chloe's sentence squirmed it's way into Edda's brain.

“Your parents. The same parents who forced you to train for the Games for no logical reason? Those parents?” Edda said, his tone clearly indicating what he thought of Chloe's parents.

Of course, Edda's own parents had taught him many of the same things, but that was because they lived at the edge of civilization.

He sighed then, shaking his head, “You know what I think... But if you want to go see them, I can't stop you, even if I wanted to. I'm guessing you want Liam to meet them too? I suppose I should as well... If you want me along.”

Edda couldn't quite help shifting a brief glance towards the bag that contained the guns he just put away.

-Hawkins' House-

“I'll... ummm, just go get ready myself,” Galv said, then hurried up the stairs. He was ready much sooner then Melanie, wearing a nice suit with a red tie to match his hair, walking down the stairs as he adjusted it, smiling at Melanie and holding out his arm for Melanie to take.

“Shall we, dear?” he asked.

Erin grinned a little, then paused, pulling out her bag and heading over to Joyce and Blake, “Oh! I brought presents!”

Erin presented them both with some coloring books and crayons.

“They're really nice crayons too,” Erin said, nodding, “I use those kind myself.”

Just a friendly reminder Erin draws with crayons.

"Of course I want you there" Chloe said with a small breath, relieved that she didn't have to put up a fight to defend her decision. She then looked to the side "I may be the strongest person I know but that doesn't mean i'm not nervous as hell at the idea. They're pretty damn horrible for what they did, but who knows? Maybe they're sorry about it? I never got a chance to search properly for them after the games so they've had more than ten years to realize they were wrong."

Chloe hoped that would be the case but she wasn't totally holding her breath. After all her mom and dad sent her away to be trained when she was just a little kid, only seeing her a handful of times between prior to the Games. During those brief moments before getting loaded up on the train they seemed excited more than anything else, telling her how they had placed a huge amount of money on her winning...She supposed that was their weird twisted way of saying they believed in her but either way it was pretty effed up.

Chloe looked up at Edda (the young man quite a bit taller than her) and gave a shrug "Look, I already have an address, we can make it quick and relatively painless. I just want them to know i'm alive and they have a grandkid now. I was their only child you know. If they end up being jerks still we can leave. Or punch them. OR both."

-Hawkins' House-

"Oh thank you auntie!" Joyce exclaimed, taking her own book and crayons before looking back to her mother and father who were heading out. "Be safe! And don't be long!"

"Of course love" Melanie smiled at Joyce before rushing over to Blake for a moment to scoop him up. The boy was still her baby and she often treated him as such. "Be good dear! We'll be back soon!"

“Okay... did you want to go now?” Edda stepped towards his bag, unzipping it and pulling out a handgun and a knife, secreting them on his person for now. Just in case.

He paused for a moment, thinking, “Was their only child, huh? Maybe they had another after you left. Could be you have a sibling... Liam might have an aunt or uncle around his age...”

That could be terrifying.

-Hawkins' House-

Blake was scooped up, actually smiling now as his mother held him, hugging the woman back tightly.

“I will momma... I always want to be good...” Blake said quietly.

Chloe gave a nod, trying not to look nervous at all at the idea...After all she brought it up. "Yeah, might as well get it over with....And think of it this way, as soon as we do it we can get the hell out of the city and back to whatever random wilderness spot you perfer"

The young woman then kissed her husband once more before throwing her coat over her shoulder. "Come on, we can meet Liam downstairs. Miho probably cleaned them out of treats by now.

-Hawkins' House-

"Good boy, love you to the moon and back" Melanie said, kissing the boy's cheek before putting him down and rejoining Galv. "Be back soon!" she said as they left, heading out for the evening.

When they were outside Melanie smiled. She absolutely loved her children but she was young and also enjoyed the few moments of peace and quiet with her husband. "So how to we celebrate the peace anyways? Really doesn't feel like ten years does it?"

Edda gave Chloe a kiss back, smiling at his wife. If he had been told when he first met Chloe that he would end up marrying this girl from Panem, he wouldn't have believed it.

But here he was, married to a wonderful woman, with a son he absolutely loved. He knew he had a great life.

It was definitely worth visiting some in-laws that Edda was pretty sure he was going to hate.

“Right... how much caps... ummm... money, did he get from you for candy anyways?” Edda asked, following her down to the lobby.

Down in the lobby, Liam was munching a chocolate bar happily, grinning.

-Outside Hawkins' House-

“We could go out, get a fancy dinner, see a movie, find somewhere... ahem... private?” Galv suggested, holding Melanie close to him, “We could take my motorcycle...”

Chloe shrugged, "Enough to buy out the hotel store probably" she said, taking the man's hand and heading out of the room. The two headed down to the lobby, looking out for Liam. When she spotted the boy with chocolate in hand she grinned, waving him down. "Miho,we're heading back out. Gonna go see momma's mama and papa!"

-Outside Hawkins' House-

Melanie's eyes lit up at the idea of taking the motorcycle. Even as a grown woman it was rather exciting. It made her feel like a sixteen year old girl again.

"Definitely the cycle" Melanie said with a grin.

Liam ran up to his parents, his face covered in chocolate and grinning.

“We are? Yay! Maybe they'll have presents!” Liam said, then held his arms up. Edda paused, then grinned, bending down to lift Liam up, putting him on his back and carrying his son piggyback.

“You know it's your mother who's the one with super strength, Liam,” Edda said with a grin as he headed out with Liam in tow, following Chloe.

“But you're taller! I can see more!” Liam said, matter of factly.

-Streets-

Galv grinned, going and getting his bike, wheeling it out and handing Melanie her own helmet for when she rode with him, putting on his own.

Once they were both on he started it up, the engine surprisingly quiet, being electric powered. Galv had customized immensely, to the point he could charge it and run it with his own powers.

“Dinner first?” Galv asked, as they started off down the road.

Chloe couldn't help but to laugh, looking up at the young boy before back at her husband. "He's got you there" she quipped, walking alongside the man as they headed outside. The woman then pulled out a small piece a paper with an address scribbled on it in her usual terribly messy font. She gave a small frown but bucked up, putting on a confident face and hailing a cab for her small family.

Once inside the car the woman handed over the paper to the cabbie and sat back for the ride. Silence was never Chloe's forte so she turned to Liam who was squished in between both parents. "So miho, what's the first thing you're gonna tell your grandma and grandpa when you see them?"

-Streets-

While it always felt a bit weird to be without her children by her side (especially Blake who always seemed to be clutching her dress or holding her hand) she appreciated a night out- this night out. She may not have wanted to attend any fancy celebrations or speeches but that didn't mean that she didn't want to celebrate the last ten years of peace with the man she loved. It was extraordinary that they had made it to this point in their lives, after all when she was younger she didn't even think she'd survive to see her seventeenth birthday.

"Dinner sounds great!" she said as the bike roared to life. Her grip tightened and she leaned into his back.

-Jackson Residence-

Despite the fact that most of the commotion was going on outside (including one of their daughters possibly being on a roof) Sarai was just now stirring from her spot on the chair. The young woman was still groggy, wiping a bit of sleep from her chocolate eyes, and a bit confused to where her daughters had gone. After all they were supposed to be playing in the room and staying out of their father's hair while he finished up his patients for the day.

Sarai gave a sigh, hoping the rambunctious little girls weren't causing too much trouble.

The Crazy One

[Panem: Capitol Building]

“You can dance better than sober me.” Rica pointed out, ignoring the fact that his heightened metabolism made getting drunk an impossibility. He then paused as Ethan asked about Laila. There was a sudden proud gleam in Rica's eye (though no one could notice behind the sunglasses) as his mind drifted to his daughter.

“Memorial Park? Yeah, Laila should be running around there somewhere. Unless she wandered off to sneak into the President's office. She does that sometimes.”

Rica didn't seem concerned that he had no idea where his daughter was – and that she could be doing something illegal. He knew that she had inherited his same abilities, so he didn't worry about her being in any danger.

[…]

Miyamoto's face soured slightly at the mention of his son. “I don't think letting Musashi loose in Vegas is going to be all that helpful to us... that boy, without a rebellion to motivate him he gets in trouble.”

He shook his head to Claire but then shrugged. “Set things up. We'll have to get a move on this. Things have a way of happening fast.”

[Jackson Residence]

As soon as Rue was outside, a small shoe flew her way and narrowly missed her head. Up on the roof, Caitlin was sitting with her arms crossed and her feet dangling over the side – one of them now bare.

“Aww, why'd you rat on me?” Caitlin asked with a huff.

“Get off the roof!” Connor shouted in a whispery voice, trying not to wake Sarai up. “Caitlin you might get hurt!”

“So?” Caitlin tilted her head. “You can fix that!”

Connor groaned. It was like having Chloe for a daughter.

[Forty-Two Years Ago: Enclave Building]

Rin allowed a small, but satisfied smile to edge its way onto her face. It was clear that she was proud of her accomplishment. She briefly thought about the speech that she liked to give – but Gallic seemed like the type who would see right through it.

Then he asked about her, and Rin laughed. “I do, although I don't plan on telling you what they are. Hopefully they'll be irrelevant on this little outing of ours.”

[Jackson Residence]

The instant Rue ran out after her father a shoe flew at her head coming from her big sister...Who was on the roof. Because of course. The girl gave a little yelp, hiding behind Connor for a second, before poking her head out and staring up at Caitlin.

"'Cause you're gonna fall and bust your head open and then you're gonna bother momma and papa to fix it!" Rue said rather matter of factly, as if this had happened plenty of times before- which it had. Caitlin was brave, but also accident-prone. Luckily she had her father to heal her good as new every time. If Connor and Sarai really wanted to teach her a lesson they would let the girl actually stay hurt for awhile- but they would never do that. Neither of them ever wanted their two daughters to feel any pain after what they had gone through over ten years ago.

Rue then tugged on her father's arm. "You're gonna get her down right? So she doesn't fall and break her head and wake momma up"

Rue was very determined to make her mother happy and let her sleep. The girl was a mirror image of the woman in looks and mannerisms and thus was extremely close and clingy with Sarai.

[Panem: Capitol Building]

"How about you both have a nice dance together while I proceed to clean these generous fools out of their wine supplies. I could really go for a good merlot right about now"

The woman couldn't help but to grin when the men mentioned their children. She may have been a cynical d-bag crazy woman most of the time but she was proud of how her children turned out.

Especially considering their fathers.

-Cab-

Liam sat between his parents, munching his candy for a couple moments, considering the question.

“I think I'm gonna ask if they've ever seen a Deathclaw!” Liam said, “Dad won't take me to see any somewhere...”

Deathclaws were incredibly violent and dangerous, and Edda would never bring Liam to anywhere he knew they were... Heck, he wouldn't bring Chloe there either, and she could smash boulders with her hands.

-Restaurant-

Galv smiled, pulling up to a restaurant and parking his cycle. He hopped off, helping Melanie off before he took off his helmet and secured it to the cycle.

It was one of the more highbrow places in the area, where they didn't have prices on the menu, and the waiters spoke in a strange accent because that's what they did, no one could remember way.

-Capitol Building-

Ethan sighed a little, shaking his head, “At least Aaron is responsible...”

Aaron was probably the one who made sure his sister's didn't get into too much trouble...

“Understood. I'll get into contact with Peterson's people then,” Claire said, turning around to go and handle that.

Forty-Two Years Ago: Enclave Building

“Depends on where exactly we're going,” Gallic said, then paused as the door opened again. A small man in a suit shuffled in, handing Gallic and Rin each a manilla envelope.

“Your orders,” the man said, before he turned and left. Gallic paused, opening his up and reading over it.

“...They're sending us out of Panem. Close to the NCR. A place called... The Divide?” Gallic said. He froze for a brief moment, when he realized where exactly that was.

He remembered the fire and destruction, fighting for his life, finding a small child, trying to keep him alive... and finding the Enclave.

Apparently, it had been rebuilt.

“I think I'm gonna ask if they've ever seen a Deathclaw!” Liam said, “Dad won't take me to see any somewhere...”

Chloe smiled, trying not to laugh. She leaned against the boy kissing the top of his head. "I doubt they have miho, they've never even camped out before. Much too messy for those type of people. They're a lot more fancy last time I saw them"

She then paused, raising a brow at Edda as she thought of the obvious question. "Have you been telling him about Deathclaws?"

-Restaurant-

Melanie hopped off behind Galv, smoothing out her dress and pulling off her helmet. She still looked rather elegant for having been on a motorcycle only a moment ago. She smiled at her husband and took his arm.

Melanie knew no one in there cared to see them....Which she liked. She wanted to be anonymous....At least for tonight.

"This place is pretty fancy" Melanie stated, placing a hand on her hip and a grin. "Think we can afford it?"

Flashback

There was no one else in the world Sarai wanted to marry than Connor...But that didn't mean the girl wasn't terrified to do it. She had no clue how she would be as a wife, as a partner who was supposed to contribute to the household rather than just hiding in her room and internally panicking every time someone came to see them. Despite the fact that both she and her boyfriend had no real family to account for anymore and not many friends beside Chloe and Edda (who seemed to always be traveling these days) there were an awful lot of people just randomly stopping by their house...Mostly people wishing to meet two figures of the rebellion (Sarai never realized just how many people watched them on television), some wanting Connor to use his healing powers on their wounds. All in all the two had a sort of celebrity status about them- which Sarai absolutely despised.

Sarai didn't know how to act around people, didn't want to relive any part of the last ten or so years and still flinched when people got too close....She really wasn't a people person and probably would never be. That's why after Connor proposed Sarai begged him to just let it be between the two. No one else. It would still be beautiful, still be special but everything would just involve them rather than hoards of people she did not even know. The only thing she really wanted on her wedding day (along with being beside Connor) was to feel 100% comfortable and at ease.

So when Connor agreed to her (strange-but not for Sarai) request the girl got to work. She spent three weeks sewing her own dress; making a gorgeous lace gown with a dropped back and tight bodice, she decorated their back garden with twinkle lights and flowers, and she even sat alone working dutifully on taming her curly hair. To some it probably would be judged as horribly lonely to plan your own wedding alone but Sarai didn't mind...It was calming.

She did wonder what it would have been like to have her own mother around, or maybe even Connor's to fuss over her, but thinking about that just made her sad...And there was not time for that right now. Weddings were supposed to be happy! This day was going to make her forever forget about every bad that had ever happened to her. It would fix her!....Hopefully.

Liam frowned for a moment as he thought this through, “You mean they live in the city all the time? That sounds so boring!”

It seems Liam took after his dad some.

He paused for another moment, wrinkling his head, “...Maybe they'll want to go camping? They can meet dad's papa and mama!”

Edda glanced over his son's head and nodded to Chloe.

“Yes, but just signs to watch out for, and what to do if he actually sees one,” Edda answered.

-Restaurant-

“I think we'll be okay,” Galv said, smiling as he linked his arm with Melanie's. He loved his wife immensely, and he knew she was the type of woman that could make guy's heads turn, but that wasn't why he loved her.

Even if a small part of his brain realized Melanie looked a lot like her mother...

But Galv was a gifted engineer, and after the rebellion succeeded, Panem needed a lot of infrastructure rebuilt, and he had poured time and effort into that, thinking he needed to do something to help.

He had been rewarded with a good chunk of time and regular jobs fixing and upgrading things, and he spent pretty much all of it on his family.

“You look beautiful, you know,” Galv said as they entered the restaurant, “Some days I can't believe we're together...”
