[Panem: Capitol Building]

“My fellow citizens, we've come a long way.” A man in an expensive suit stood behind a podium, staring out at a crowd that had gathered on the steps of the capitol building. His gaze swept the crowd for a moment and the cameras that would be transmitting his words across not just the Union of Panem, but the New California Republic as well.

“Ten years ago we stood on the threshold of ruin. Mankind, so resilient that we survived the end of the world, nearly destroyed ourselves. Though we face many challenges ahead, we have come so far. On this day we do not just celebrate the fall of the Enclave. We celebrate the dawn of a new era of hope and prosperity. And I stand before you now to make the same vow I did when we constituted this Union – to lead Panem to the bright future it deserves.”

Takezo Miyamoto listened to the roar of the crowd and the applause and never once did the smile leave his face – but hidden in the back of the President's mind were many fears. He knew that the world had deserved the shaky peace it had enjoyed the last decade, but every day he wondered how long it could last.

The speech continued, hitting all the important notes of hope and prosperity. He told the people of Panem that the dark days were behind them and that things would only get better from here.

Within the crowd, a woman watched from behind sunglasses. Her hair was down and she wore a white gown as she listened to the words. Perhaps it was years of cynicism and sarcasm, but she could not believe that things would be as rosy as Miyamoto claimed.

“Not my problem this time.” She mumbled.

“Momma?” At her side, a child looked up at her mother and tugged on her hand. She could almost instinctively feel the concern and tension that radiated from her mother.

“It's fine.” Nanami shook her head as she bent down and patted her daughter's head. “Everything is fine.”

[Panem: Doctor's Office]

The President's speech was playing on the television as a young man looked over his last patient for the day. His hands began to glow with a faint gold light as he passed them over the patient's leg and the long, grizzled scar that had been there slowly faded until it was gone.

“There you go.” Connor smiled at the patient, who thanked him and shook his hand. Connor walked the man to the door and then closed it behind him, flipping the lock and walked back over and leaning against the wall.

There was a tired, but pleased smile on his face. “That's it, Sarai! Last one done. We're off work.” He called out to his wife in the next room.

[Panem: Doctor's Office]

“That's it, Sarai! Last one done. We're off work.”

When Connor called out for his wife he would receive no answer as his wife was currently curled up in a plush armchair, book in her lap, asleep. She had seen her last patient about an hour ago, a woman who was almost eight months pregnant, and since then had been studying. While her husband had spent his life around medicine she was still learning, and thus spent much of her free time trying to read as much as she could about being a midwife.

It really was the perfect profession for her, a girl who had seen so much death in her years getting to help bring new life into they world.

Suddenly a head poked out from the other room, shushing the man. A girl with a mass of curly brown hair, falling around her face and down her back, looked to her father, placing a finger to her lips. The girl who was still very young, only just having made it to her seventh birthday, but she was also very bright. "Shhhhhh she's sleeeeeeeping papa"

[Panem: Capitol Building]

Another woman stood in the crowd, a glass of untouched wine in her hand as she listened to the President's speech. Kanna wasn't sure how much of what he said she believed but really who was she to complain. Ten years of peace was longer than even the oldest of people had seen in their lifetimes...It really was a milestone to celebrate, and thus she had pressured Melanie to be here for it, but the girl had politely declined, opting to 'celebrate' from the comfort of her home rather than in the masses...

Kanna was pretty sure it was because Melanie didn't want anyone to recognize her, the young woman was not a big fan of the fame that came with being a part of ending the Games. Even ten years later people would stop her at parties or out on the street asking her about her time in the arena....Or even mistaking her for that Nanami girl. At first it was flattering but Kanna could tell it got grating rather fast for her daughter.

[Panem: Bar]

Chloe was probably never known as mother-of-the-year type but even for her this was slightly surprising.

"M'am...Uhhhh...You can't have a kid in here"

Chloe looked over from the television she was watching on the side of the bar, to the bartender regarding her. She had popped in after hearing that the president's speech had started and found herself with no way to watch. She and her son were heading back to their hotel, said son clutching her hand tightly.

"Oh cool your jets, I was just watching the speech. I'm not even drinking" Chloe retorted with a grin. "Anyways bringing a kid into a bar isn't that bad, think of the stories he'll hear in here! Real world lessons and such! I like to think of it like an educational field trip!"

The bartender blinked. "Uh....This is kind of a dangerous place for kids-"

"THIS? Dangerous? Puuuuulease" She then looked to her son, ruffling his dark hair "Miho, tell the nice man about the time your dad took you to the edge of a volcano to look for ancient tribal etches"

Please don't Liam.

I can't see what you're imagining
Panem

-Capitol Building-

From offstage a woman with a tight bun of blonde hair stood, directing a few aides as Miyamoto gave the speech, only half listening to make sure the President didn't say anything too stupid.

Claire Douglas had been Gallic's right hand in the days of the Enclave, and when Gallic had surrendered in the final battle, she had been left in charge of his forces, and made sure that they and the Rebels stopped shooting each other.

She proved extremely useful in getting Panem's infrastructure back up and running after it's internal revolt, and her skills as a Number Two had gotten her tapped as Miyamoto's personal assistant. After being very clear with the man what exactly that entailed, she was happy with her job, it was basically what she was working for when working for Gallic, just under someone else.

Not that she ever smiled, however.

-Crowd-

A man stood next to Kanna, his hair still mostly brown, but starting to show signs of graying around his temples, a short cropped beard on his face instead of the usual scraggle. He use to live in the NCR, had ended up in the Legion, and now he was in Panem, a cane supporting him for now, after an accident a few years ago had injured his left leg.

He was tough though, and had refused to use a wheelchair. Super strength still had several advantages, and his good leg could support his weight with ease, the cane mostly to help with walking.

Of course, Ethan didn't do much fighting for a while, instead he taught people... and helping to raise Adrianna, Aaron, and occasionally Lalia as well.

“Try not to drink too much,” Ethan said idly to Kanna, “I can carry you and support myself, but it is a little tricky. Though I'm sure Rica is somewhere around here, getting drunk himself...”

-Bar-

Liam paused, then nodded excitedly.

“It was really cool! We saw a lot of lava, and it was really hot! He said I shouldn't touch it, but we found some cool rocks, and Dad showed me how to make a knife out of the black rock! Ummm... ob...obsidian, that's it!” Liam said, grinning excitedly, “I still have it at home, too, but it's hard to use, I have to be careful with stuff made from it, it breaks easy!”

-Hotel-

Edda paced the room of the hotel. He never liked hotels, he'd rather pitch a tent somewhere, or sleep under the stars, but Chloe had insisted on a hotel room. At least it was a nice one, though Chloe probably had caught Edda laying on the floor instead of the comfortable bed now and then.

Edda made good money as an explorer, something that seemed to baffle Chloe. He was good at making maps, and many maps from the old world were either destroyed or useless, so he would often sell to both the NCR and Panem copies of any maps he made when he took Chloe (and more recently Liam) on 'vacations.'

It didn't help Edda wanted nothing to do with Chloe's parents, knowing they had trained Chloe to take part of the Games when she didn't need to. His parents had taught him how to fight and survive in similar situations, but it was because he was born and lived on the very frontier of the NCR, and often traveled out of it into the Wastes.

Either way, he glanced at the clock, and was debating about leaving to find Chloe and Liam, feeling a little penned in the rather large hotel room. He wasn't watching the speech himself though, as he was still an NCR citizen, and so the speech had slipped his mind. That probably makes Liam the first person with dual citizenship since the Flare, too.

-Hawkins' House-

Galv and Melanie didn't live exactly remotely, but not in the city either, both liking some privacy. Galv also liked having a large workshop, having time to discover his love of machines and building stuff, selling his inventions to pay for things, and making sure his family was comfortable.

Right now he was in the living room with the rest of his family, arm around Melanie as they watched the speech. They had been asked to attend by numerous parties, but neither of them had really wanted to go.

Blake, their youngest, and their son, sat on the edge of the couch, clutching a blanket and watching the speech with a strange intensity for someone only six years old.

NCR

-President's Office-

President Richard Peterson leaned forward as Miyamoto gave the speech, taking a few notes as various aides and other NCR politicians did the same.

He had been a former general in the army, and, possibly ironically, he now presided over one of the most peaceful times of the New California Republic, and wanted to keep it that way. Miyamoto seemed like someone he could definitely work with.

“We should set up a meeting with President Miyamoto,” Peterson said as the speech wound down, “The NCR and Panem are starting to butt heads as we head south and into former Legion territory...”

Peterson did not want to start a war, after all.

The Wastes

-The Divide-

Even for The Wastes, the proverbial no man's land between NCR and Panem, The Divide was it's own special kind of hell.

But a figure walked through it, stopping now and then to examine something that looked like just debris, usually tossing it away, though a handful of things they placed away into a bag on their back, seemingly at random.

As they walked through the land of the doomed, several red skinned figures appeared from the debris, roaring in pain and anquish, charging at the figure who stopped and seemed to just stare.

They seemed to blur, the first Marked Man stopping in surprise, as the figure appeared behind them, drawing a knife.

A slash, and the Marked Man fell down. Several others then charged, only to see their target disappear again, though leaving behind a couple of grenades.

Twin explosions ended the suffering of these Marked Men, the figure reappearing on top of some debris, their face cloaked against the harshness of the land.

“...They will pay...” the figure muttered softly, then continued their journey.

Forty-Two Years Ago

-Panem: President Snow's Office-

“Ahhh... Don Gallic, just the man I wanted to see,” President Snow said, looking up as Gallic entered the room, giving a salute. “No need to be so formal. Sit.”

Gallic paused for a moment, then sat down on the chair offered to him, knowing that a number of devices were trained on him, though gave the President a smile.

“Gallic... where have I heard that name before?” Snow asked idly.

“Name's been in the Enclave since the Flare, President Snow,” Gallic said. This was true, Gallic was one of the first people to join the Enclave after the Flare, having fought his way to them almost forty years ago... And he hadn't aged at all.

“Ah, yes... Anyways, I have a special assignment for you. There is... a troublesome development, out west,” Snow said, “We need someone to take care of it. We have a... former Victor of the Games in mind, but we need someone to help keep her in line, keep them focused. My files tell me you're very charismatic, a people person.”

“I've been told I can be likeable on occasion,” Gallic said carefully.

“Well good then,” Snow smiled, “Then this should be easy for you. I'll have someone give you the details before the day ends, but in the meantime, I think you should meet who you will be... guiding.”

Snow pressed a button on his desk, and an armored figure stepped inside.

“Take Don here to see who he will be working with,” Snow said. The soldier saluted, then motioned for Gallic to follow him out the room. Gallic looked towards Snow one last time, then followed, being lead down a few floors, then pointed to another door.

Gallic paused, stepping forward and opening the door...

[Panem: Bar]

The bartender just blinked, not sure whether to be impressed or call this woman extremely unfit.

Chloe watched with a grin as Liam explained his adventures with his father. While going into the relationship she really wasn't one for 'rouging it' (which is hilariously ironic considering how 'rough' her ability was) she had to admit that some of the travels that Edda dragged her on were pretty amazing....Dangerous and gross and waaaay too humid, but amazing. Chloe was happy that their son seemed to get the same excitement for life and enjoyment of discovery.

"Okay that's enough miho" Chloe said, placing a hand on the boy's hair once more. "We probably should get going, your dad is probably wondering where we are" she told him before giving a small laugh "Poor guy is probably pulling his hair out cooped up in that nice hotel!"

Panem: Hawkins' House

Sitting on the floor beside her brother a girl with long dark hand and large brown eyes sat watching the speech as well. Joyce was amazed by the broadcast, having developed quite an interest in the history of the last ten years. She knew all about the part her parents had in the rebellion, and had asked many questions about what life was like prior to their time in the Games. While Melanie wasn't the biggest fan of telling their first born about the hardships and grisly details of the Games she owed it to the girl to tell the truth.

Not to mention talking about it was good for both her and Galv. Pretending their childhoods didn't happen was ridiculous, as was pretending they were perfect.

"I'm surprised Nanami isn't there saying something" Joyce noted, knowing very well who the woman was. Her parents had told her about the girl who had started it all, but despite hearing a lot about the woman Joyce had only seen her maybe twice in her whole life on television. The woman must have been amazing at keeping a low profile despite her massive celebrity.

"She probably is busy living her life" Melanie answered, knowing very well the desire to live her life and not be stuck as some kind of weird freedom symbol. She already had it bad, she couldn't imagine how much worse it was for the woman people were always saying she looked like.

"Okay....Next question, why are we there?" Joyce asked, pressing her long hair over her shoulder. "Weren't we invited?"

[Panem: Capitol Building]

Kanna looked over to Ethan before taking a sip from her wine. "Don't worry, this is the only one for now, I like to keep my wits about me when i'm at events like this...Who knows what will happen. Though I am pretty surprised you came out, I wouldn't peg you for a noisy crowd kind of man"

[Panem: Capitol Building]

Once the speech had ended, Miyamoto waved to the crowd and then hurried inside – quickly turning to face Claire.

“I need you to arrange a sit down with Peterson. This stuff down south can't continue. I just told everyone on the continent that maintaining peace is our number one goal, the last thing I need is a damn war.”

[...]

“Speaking of pegging ol' Ethan, when are you going to go full-on peg leg? We can throw in an eye patch too if it helps.”

Pushing his way through the crowd of people was a man who spoke in an obnoxious southern drawl. Although ten years had passed, Rica looked like he was at most three years older than he had been when the Enclave fell. The major change to the man was newly grown goatee, and for once instead of the tattered old trenchcoat he was wearing a black uniform.

A military uniform.

“And as much as I'd simply love to get drunk, I'm technically on duty... although God help whatever idiot comes running to me with some problem. Unless Donny-boy comes in riding atop a dragon I don't need any headaches today.”

Rica shook his head and adjusted his sunglasses – and then adjusted one of the medals pinned to his jacket. He had the absolutely annoying habit of standing so that anyone he spoke to could see them. He had parlayed his involvement in the rebellion into a cushy command job with Panem's military.

“Kanna, you're looking as lovely as ever.” Rica added with a grin.

[Panem: Doctor's Office]

Connor's face immediately beamed with that special mixture of pride and joy that was only ever known to parents. Who aren't Kanna. He walked over and bent down on one knee, running his hand through his daughter's curly hair.

“Then let's let her sleep.” Connor agreed. “Have you seen your sister?”

There was a certain hesitation in his voice as he asked the question. Rue was the epitome of a bright, happy and well-behaved child. Her elder sister Caitlin on the other hand... Connor sometimes swore that Chloe had influenced that girl in the womb.

[42 Years Ago: Enclave Building]

The laboratory belonged to one of the best and brightest in the Enclave. A woman whose scientific mind was surpassed only by the chill of her eyes whenever something irritated her even slightly. At the moment she was standing beside a microscope, peering into it when the door opened.

The woman turned her head and red eyes narrowed as one of the figures in Power Armor stepped in – and behind the soldier was another man. One she did not recognize, which meant he was likely unimportant. At least that was normally the case, but she knew that old man Snow was sending someone to babysit her on the latest assignment.

“You must be Garlic.” The Asian woman stated bluntly. It was hard to tell if she simply misheard his name or if she was being intentionally difficult. “Right then. Since the President wants you to come along I can't very well stop you; but I'll be damned if you'll get in my way. So keep your mouth shut and do your job and we'll get along just fine.”

Rin Nomura had never been one to make a good first impression.

“Okay mamá!” Liam said, smiling happily and taking hold of his mother's hand, still looking around, “Hopefully Dad will be there! Last time he made that fort out of all the pillows and blankets!”

-Hawkins' House-

“Because... we didn't really do much,” Galv said, after a moment's thought, “Your mother and I were symbols, mostly. We fought, but even if we weren't in that fight, the Rebels still would have won. Besides...”

Galv smiled and leaned forward, ruffling his children's hair, “Your mother and I want you two to be able to live your own lives. Be who you want to be. Not just known as our kids.”

-Capitol Building-

“I'm sure he feels the same way, sir,” Claire said, “I'll get in contact with his aides as soon as possible. Where would you want to meet?”

She gave him a stare, one meant she was looking for an actual intelligent answer from him. Having him go to the NCR would give the impression that Panem was the weaker of the two nations.

...But then again, the NCR would also not want to meet in Panem, for the same reasons.

“One of my legs may be useless, but my brain is still at least four times more useful then you, Jack,” Ethan said to Rica.

He poked his cane at Rica's chest, prodding one of the medals with it, the same one he just adjusted.

“What did you get this one for, cleaning the toilets?” Ethan said with another smirk.

Forty-Two Years Ago

-Enclave Building-

Gallic paused as he was introduced to Rin, or rather, the woman talked to him like he was useless. He simply smiled, keeping his hands behind his back and standing straight. He was usually good at reading people, and figured that holding out his hand to shake would be ignored, so he didn't bother doing so.

“My friends call me Don,” Gallic said idly, not bothering to correct Rin. Of course, Gallic only had one friend that actually called him that, Claire. “But since we're not friends, you can call me Gallic.”

He still smiled, almost disarmingly as he took a step forward, looking around the laboratory.

The armored figured glanced towards Gallic, who nodded and motioned for him to leave, the man in power armor exiting the room and closing the door behind him.

“Interesting laboratory here,” Gallic said, “What is your field of expertise? I was... something of an engineer, in another life, before I worked for the Enclave.”

He was, of course, referring to his life before the Flare, not that anyone else knew he had been around that long.

Chloe couldn't help but to roll her eyes but also smiled. Of course Edda would prefer to build forts on the floor rather than enjoy the plush surroundings of a nice hotel. It was quirky, but also part of his charm. Also Liam absolutely loved it. Edda was Liam's hero, and the two were just alike down to the T. Sure the boy may have got many of her physical features, but it was clear he was his father's son.

Chloe led Liam back in the street, heading down the street and towards their hotel. They weren't planning on staying in Panem too long, but a short break from the random ruins, jungles and other dangerous locations they often visited was overdue.

There was another reason though. The woman had heard rumors that her parents were somewhere in Panem, and while they were just rumors she was curious to see if they were true....Of course she hadn't really told Edda yet, as she wasn't even sure she wanted to see the d-bags who made her volunteer for the Games as a kid. But she owed it to her son to let him meet his grandparents if at all possible...Right?

"Miho, would you like to see your mama's mom and dad maybe?" Chloe asked casually.

[Panem: Doctor's Office]

“Then let's let her sleep. Have you seen your sister?”

Rue nodded "She didn't want to be quiet and let momma read so she said she was going on the roof" she said quietly "Is that bad?"

Rue was barely ever in trouble, the little girl clearly her mother's daughter. She was quiet, slightly timid but sweet-natured and smart. On the other hand Caitlin was a firecracker. She was all over the place, she was loud and no one scared her. Both girls were polar opposites but also complimented eachother very well. Saying they were close was an understatement.

[Panem: Capitol Building]

Kanna rolled her eyes at the men's back and forth banter. She wasn't exactly sure why she hung around them, but she knew that when she was on her own i felt weird....This was weird but it wasn't particularly bad. It was comforting.

The woman took another sip of her wine, looking back and forth between Ethan and Rica. "So I heard there was going to be a little celebration party, mostly people shaking the president's hand and stuff, but there's going to be some nice old wines and plenty of pretty ladies for you two...Care to join me?"

Kanna was already dressed for the occasion, wearing a low cut dress and nice shoes. Her long dark hair was tied in a elegant knot. She wasn't even sure she could get into the celebration but if need be she could always just drop her daughter's name.

Panem: Hawkins' House

"Symbols....Well that doesn't sound very exciting. Surely you guys were more than just that" Joyce stated, looking back at her parents "You guys fought bad guys...Peacekeepers! Soldiers! It sounds pretty exciting."

"Exciting doesn't always mean good things" Melanie said with a small sigh. "It's time for us to focus on moving forwards not back."

“Ummm... didn't Daddy say they were...” Liam paused, frowning as he tried to think, “...A bunch of bad words he said I shouldn't say in public?”

He didn't look like he was saying no though, he was just curious. “It is fun when I get to meet Daddy's momma and daddy! They're nice!”

Edda's mother was a doctor, and his father was what polite society in the outskirts of civilization called a 'Prospector' which was someone who looted old tech and supplies in the Wastes.

They both also loved meeting Liam and Chloe.

-Capitol Building-

“I've never been too fond of these things,” Ethan said. He disliked crowds and lots of people. “But if you're going, I suppose I could be swayed to pop on in. I'm sure a few of my students are there too.”

-Hawkins' House-

“Exactly,” Galv said, agreeing wholeheartedly with his wife, “I may have been a good fighter, but I much prefer to work on my inventions and designs. It's a lot of fun, good work.”

Galv was a little disappointed that neither Joyce nor Blake seemed too interested in working on machines like he did. That would be Kyran, who's a few years off, at least.

Panem

-Street-

“Ummm... didn't Daddy say they were...” Liam paused, frowning as he tried to think, “...A bunch of bad words he said I shouldn't say in public?”

Well Chloe really couldn't fight with that statement...Her mom and dad WERE a bunch of bad words that Liam shouldn't necessarily say in public. By the time she was her own son's age they sent her to live with a man whose sole purpose in life was to make her tough enough to survive the Games. She spent most of her childhood being taught how to kill, and being forced to train day in and day out so that by the time she was a teenager she could go up on her own accord (ha ha yeah right) and volunteer herself for the Games. She wasn't even sure what they actually wanted out of it all....Her family had money. They also had status. There was literally nothing to gain from throwing your kid in the Games when you lived in the Capitol...And yet they did.

But that was in the past and to be fair it did end up being the best thing that could have ever happened. There she met her best friends, and even ended up marrying one of them. And there was Liam....Yup. Totally worth it.

"Yes, they are a bunch of bad words you should say in public" Chloe agreed "But they are also you grandma and grandpa, and you've never seen them at least once in your life. And who knows, maybe they'll have lots of presents for you! After all you're their only grandbaby!" The girl then hesitated, lowering her voice a bit "Though don't mention it to your dad, I still probably will need to convince him not to punch them in the throats"

-Capitol Building-

"We don't need to stay long, just enough time to try some expensive wine and smooze a bit" Kanna said with a slight grin. As much as she hated to admit it she missed the days of attending fancy parties in tight dresses to keep her children safe from the Games. It wasn't the fear that Jason or Melanie would be murdered that she missed (even he wasn't that dark) it was the eyes on her and the whole social aspect of things. She liked people watching her. She liked people knowing who she was. That's why even as a very young mother she tried so hard to shimmy her way into the Capital's ranks.

-Hawkins' House-

"Puuuuulease dad, that's hardly as exciting as some of the stories i've heard from grandpa!" Joyce said with a grin "You guys were basically heroes back in the day!"

I imagine Rica liked to embellish their adventures a bit...

Melanie rolled her eyes, standing up from the couch "I need to talk to my dad about telling war stories to twelve year olds, now you too go do your school work. Your father and I are going out soon"

While Melanie didn't want to be a pretty face at a party celebrating the years of peace, she did want to celebrate slightly privately with her husband. Maybe a nice stroll around town....Dinner....Dancing. Something that didn't involve photographers and handshakes.

“Ha ha. You're a real laugh riot, Ethan. I'm sure you can think of some more jokes while Kanna and I dance.” Rica replied with his usual smirk before brushing off the medal. Then he turned his sights on Kanna and nodded a bit – that smirk only growing even bigger.

“I'll be there. I'm actually in charge of security for the event.” Rica announced with his same smug tone – before turning his eyes to Ethan. “... I might even let you in. Might being the keyword.”

[…]

Miyamoto ran his hand over his chin as he thought about it. Politics was a game and he could not afford to show weakness – but asking Peterson to relent on this would make any negotiations harder. There was one possibility, though – not that he particularly liked it.

“It would have to be on neutral ground. That means Vegas.” Miyamoto sighed slightly as he stated it.

[Panem: Doctor's Office]

“The roof!?” Connor looked like he might faint the moment he heard his daughter say those words. He knew that Caitlin was the type who lived for anything... dangerous. She had learned very quickly as a child that her father could fix any injury and had taken advantage of that to become quite the daredevil.

“S-Stay here!” Connor ordered, but he had a feeling Rue would not listen. He darted up the stairs, rushing towards the window. “Caitlin! Get down from the roof!”

[Forty Two Years Ago: Enclave Building]

Rin raised an eyebrow, suddenly a bit intrigued. Between her intimidating and overbearing personality and her connection to Snow – which gave her free license to do practically whatever she wanted as long as she was useful to the Enclave – few people ever messed with her.

This Gallic person actually had guts. He was either more interesting than she thought, or a complete idiot.

“Biology.” Rin replied. “Specifically, I'm the foremost expert on the powers people have been exhibiting since the Flare.”

Rin was quite proud of her status. She walked beside Gallic and waved her hand, activating one of the screens in front of them that displayed a massive amount of information. Charts, mathematical equations and several chemical breakdowns.

“I've been studying the change that occurred in humanity since the fall of the old world. The pylons that suppress powers? Those are my work, Mr. Gallic.”

Rue's eyes widened as she rushed after her father (doing the total opposite of what he had told her), following him out the door. "Wait papa, I wasn't supposed to tell!" she exclaimed, worried to make her dad or sister upset with her.

When they made it outside she stared up at the roof....

The other person, a beautiful white-haired woman couldn't help but to smirk "Probably not"

Liam thought about what his mother said for a moment, then nodded.

“Okay mama!” he said, “I won't tell daddy. When are we gonna see them though? Do we have to go back to the NCR?”

Liam associated “grandparents” with the NCR, since that's where Edda's parents were.

-Capitol Building-

“Mmm, hmm, I might use a cane, but I can still dance better then you,” Ethan said to Rica idly, keeping most of his attention on Kanna for now, “By the way, where is Lalia? Aaron and Adrianna went to the nearby park to play with some other kids.”

He pointed his cane towards said park, where many small children who had not grown up under the Enclave didn't know what this strange ceremony was about, and just wanted to do what kids do.

Claire nodded, “Of course sir, an excellent idea. The ruler of New Vegas should probably still owe us a few favors, since it was the rebellion and the NCR that took down House.”

She turned to go and get that started, pausing for one moment to look back towards Miyamoto, “You may want to consider bringing your son on this. He was one of the two personally responsible for taking down House, it might be good to remind Castor of this.”

-Hawkins' House-

“No, we weren't heroes... We were just... convenient,” Galv said, sighing, “And listen to your mother... get your homework down, Joyce. Your uncle Jason should be here soon to babysit. He's probably bringing your aunt Erin and Solanna too.”

Blake paused, nodding slightly. Being four, he didn't have school work yet.

“Where are you going?” he asked.

“Your mother and I are going out for a bit. Privately,” Galv said, “We'll be back in a few hours.”

Forty-Two Years Ago: Enclave Building

Gallic looked at the data, having a fleeting memory... Another scientist, another life, the same equations...

Of course, shutting down powers was considered a vital military effort, and the company Gallic worked for had been researching that as well, before the Flare wiped out any data on that. They hadn't gotten nearly as far as Rin had.

And here, in the new world, this woman had done it again, alone and without the resources the Pre-Flare world had access to.

Gallic was impressed himself now.

“I have to say, I am impressed,” Gallic said, suppressing old memories and turning back to Rin, “That is quite a feat, Ms. Nomura.”

He gave Rin a small smile now, “Do you have any powers yourself?”

-Streets-

Chloe shook her head, heading Liam back into the hotel and towards their suite. "Nope, my parents weren't from the NCR, they were from the Capitol." Chloe explained "We lived a lot differently than your dad"

Despite growing up wealthy and comfortable differently didn't necessarily mean better.

"But enough about that, let me bring it up to your dad" she said with a smile as they reached the room, stepping in. "Miss us lover boy?"

-Capitol Building-

Kanna shrugged, proving that she really was a crap mom "I dunno, he watches her" she said, motioning to Rica.

You spent 16 years hiding the fact that Rica was the father of one of your children just to make him raise another on his own? Nice. Though to be fair the children DID spend time with Kanna, just in small bursts. No one wanted the woman rubbing off on cute impressionable children.

-Hawkins' House-

"Oh gross they're going on a date" Joyce quickly exclaimed to her little brother, sticking her tongue out and gagging. "Gross next they'll be kissing in front of us"

Suddenly there was a loud knock, obviously coming from a small hand. A moment later a girl let herself in, grinning brightly a she led her mother and frather in as well "Joooooyce are you here?"

Joyce perked up, rushing over to her cousin "Sol! About time!"

Meanwhile Melanie had disappeared to get dressed, quickly donning a tight black dress and heels with a fluffy white jacket, much like she owned as a kid. She looked almost creepily like her own mother (the young woman was blessed with the exact same figure as the woman), but with a much better demeanor...And taller. A bit. She tied her hair up in a messy bun and applied some lipstick.

-Hotel-

“I was about to go and look for you!” Edda said, brightening up when Chloe and Liam appeared. He had a case open on the bed, with a few guns out. He was keeping himself busy and doing some maintenance, taking a few moments to pack them up safely.

Edda had made absolutely sure Liam knew how dangerous firearms were, but still, he wanted to be safe.

He then hurried over and gave Chloe a quick kiss, before bending down and picking up Liam.

“So, did you have fun with your mom?” Edda asked.

“Yah!” Liam nodded, “I saw lots of people! And weird clothes!”

-Hawkins' House-

“Hello!” Erin smiled, walking in as well, looking around happily.

“Thanks again for watching Joyce and Blake,” Galv said, walking to Jason and Erin as they entered, “Melanie and I appreciate it.”

“Oh, it's no problem!” Erin smiled sweetly. She seemed a little less crazy then she use to be.

Blake walked over towards his sister and cousin, peering at them with his big blue eyes, “...Hello Solanna...”

"Poor boy's been in the wilderness too long, doesn't recognize a nice suit in the least." Chloe joked, falling back on the bed beside the case full of guns. She eyed it for a second before sitting up. "Man, bringing out the big guns aren't you? Think we got kidnapped by fancy old men or something?"

While Chloe spent much of her young life training to kill other children she was never really one for guns. The problem was that she was no good at using them. She was exceedingly strong but also extremely light so somehow the recoil always caught her off guard. Despite this Edda had taken her shooting many times and even mentioned taking Liam soon so he could learn to defend himself properly.

Chloe often just shrugged it off. Who needed a gun when they could break a man's back without breaking a sweat?

The woman then looked to Liam, smiling at the boy "Miho, why don't you go downstairs and grab a snack? I have some cash for candy"

-Hawkins' House-

Solanna looked down at her younger cousin Blake and gave a sweet smile. The girl always liked the little boy, he was extremely sweet, albeit a bit quiet "Hi Blake, how are you today?" she said with a polite smile, never one to leave the boy out.

"Yeah don't worry about it" Jason said to Galv with a grin "You two deserve some time alon-OI! Little sister put some clothes on!"

Melanie was now standing at the top of the stairs, rolling her eyes at her brother. She barely got down the stairs before she was grabbed by the older raven-haired man, and thrown over her shoulder like a ten year old. "J-Jason! Let me down!"

"No way, you look like mom and that's exceedingly creepy. You can't go out like that! Mostly because I don't want to think about what HE'S thinking about"

Melanie groaned. "Jason i'm almost thirty AND I have two kids and last time I checked that means you can't use the big brother card anymore, now let me doooooooown"
