The Crazy One

[Crash Site]

“I think we should follow it.” Garnet spoke up, as she watched the silvery wisp in the air. She didn’t know why, but as she gazed upon it, she felt calm. She did not feel that it was anything harsh or dangerous.

Blake and Didymus would feel the same calm. There was no ill-will or malice in the mysterious wisp. The longer they looked at it, the calmer and pleasant they would feel.

“It does not feel like magic,” Garnet commented. “Part of what you learn studied White Magic is how to sense for traps. I don’t feel any traps… I don’t feel anything… whatever this is; I do not believe it is a spell or a trick.”

[Throat of the World]

Nanami pushed open the door and on the other side was an unexpected sight. An enormous creature, curled around the center of the room. It was long and thin, covered in beautiful azure scales.

It was a dragon.

“What I meant was that no men or elves live here.” Nanami said to Jimi and Hammah. “And this is the reason why. Hello, old friend.”

The dragon looked up at her weakly. “Hello… Dragonborn… you have brought others… but I smell no evil intentions on them…”

“It’s happening.” Nanami said, eyes narrowed. “The dragons are returning. The witch Maghda started it, but I know the Dark Lord is behind it. He has returned, and war is coming. Have I said anything untrue?”

The dragon shook his head slowly. “You are correct… the hour of my death draws near… the protection of the Lady in the Lake is almost up… the time is coming for that which was started a thousand years ago to conclude… but first, I would like to meet your friends… please approach me…”

[Cottage]

Musashi sighed a bit, leaning against the wall as he listened to Galv speak. He softly shrugged his shoulders.

“Yeah, yeah… Kyran’s grandfather is the Dark Lord, the very embodiment of evil made manifest who plunged the world into chaos a thousand years ago. That doesn’t change who Kyran is, so what does it matter?”

Musashi stepped forward. “I wouldn’t dream of upsetting her. Kyran’s unlike anyone I’ve ever met before, and I don’t intend to die, either!”

[Ankh-Morpork]

The Brotherhood Leader gasped as he was hit by the spell, which seemed to bind his magic. He stepped back, looking down at his hands as suddenly the dome they were in vanished. He swore softly, glaring at Vaun and Riza.

“You think you’re so clever? You’ve only delayed the inevitable.”

I can't see what you're imagining
-Ankh-Morpork-

“What? Vaun, augh!” Riza yelled, his concentration broken as Vaun brought up that instance, his spell starting to fail around the assassin as he closed his eyes and fell to the ground, Vaun's magical card sending out a blast of bright colors!

Which would possibly give the assassin time to attack or escape...

-Crash Site-

Blake was quiet, considering everything.

“Considering you have little reason to trust me right now, I don't think what I have to say means much, but I do think following the arrow is the best option. We don't even know where the rest of the wreckage of the boat is, it's possible most of it got swept to another island entirely, or sank,” Blake said, “I'm not a White Mage, but I don't sense any hostility... just... calmness. Not something you normally get from dark magic.”

-Throat of the World-

Jimi and Hammah gulped, but they stepped towards the dragon.

“My name's Jimi Spork,” Jimi said towards the dragon.

“And I'm Hammah Spork,” Hammah said, nodding his head towards the scaly figure, “It's, umm... a pleasure to make your acquaintance...”

Thaddius just tilted to his head to the dragon, still on Hammah's head, having been there the entire time. Really.

-Cottage-

Galv actually felt a little better from Musashi's words, nodding a bit.

“I didn't warn you about her grandfather because of she what she might be, but because it's possible you might get the Dark Lord targeting you. Obviously it's not something we advertise... If it was widely known who my wife was, and our children... well...”

Galv didn't have to finish that thought, frowning and shaking his head, “You're the second person outside our family we've told...”

The first being Sage, of course... And Galv didn't know Blake had revealed that fact to others recently.

Galv sighed, glancing towards Kyran, who was waiting patiently out by the cottage door still.

“That's all I wanted to say. And thank you, for the help you have provided. Regardless, I would like to help with your own problems if I can. I'm not as young as I use to be, but I can still pack a punch in a fight,” Galv said, “But for now... Just behave, okay?”

"I still believe we should at least look around for survivors...but if we've really no other leads, we may as well, perhaps, follow the arrow. But as for the calmness..."

Didymus grinned, gravely.

"I assure you, not all that radiates calm and comfort, or at least tries to, perhaps, truly means it."
