[The Galatine] A massive ship of cobalt blue and white sat proudly in Avalon’s harbor. Being a nation on the coast, Avalon boasted several ships, but the Galatine was one of the finest. The crew was already aboard, making the final preparations for launch. On the harbor, Cidolfus Orlandu was waiting. At his side was Princess Garnet, who was now dressed in the same long, white robe with red triangle decoration that she had worn during her flee from Alexandria. “The others should arrive soon.” Cid told Garnet. [Ankh-Morpork] Raven collapsed. She was utterly unconscious, and the moment she went down the darkness around her vanished. Her four eyes turned back into two. When the bright light cleared, the Dark Brotherhood was mostly gone as well. Some of them, the injured ones, were still behind. They could not escape quickly and were now at the mercy of the City Watch and the others. Lucien LaChance was not among them. He had used one of his favorite tricks and vanished from the scene. Though he knew that Shendu would be displeased with his failure, and he knew further that Captain Carrot would now be seeking him for a long time. He also knew it did not matter. The Return of the Dark Lord was coming. What happened with Raven was proof that an even greater darkness was coming… and Lucien intended to see it arrive. [Forest] Musashi watched as the shadow daggers consumed Lamia! She screamed out for only a moment before she fell to her side and died a cold, painful death in the woods. Musashi hesitated only for a moment. He was still in pain, and for the second time since he met her, Kyran seemed… frightening. So he immediately got up and ran… right towards her. “Nice going! I think it’s over.” Musashi said with a sigh. “But I wonder how that monster ended up in the well in the first place…” |

The Galantine Didymus was already there, waiting. "Hello again." he said, when Garnet and Cid approached. |

-The Galatine- Blake walked down to the boat as well, stopping by the others. “I am ready to depart,” Blake said. He was clearly nervous, but hopefully the others would simply place it down on him being worried about the trip and the mission. And not on what he planned on revealing before too long... -Ankh-Morpork- Carrot sighed, sheathing his sword and looking towards the others. “Sergeant Detrius, get the Brotherhood still here arrested. Bring them to the Yard,” Carrot ordered. The troll saluted, then started bellowing orders at the other Watchmen there, getting the assassins arrested and taken off. Carrot then headed towards the others, frowning a little as he looked down at the unconscious Raven, checking her pulse. “She should be alright,” Carrot said, straightening back up, “Thank you all for your assistance in the matter.” -Forest- Kyran smiled, hugging Musashi as he ran up to her, giving him a quick kiss on his cheek, Galv frowning a bit at the act. “Good question though...” Galv said, walking over to the well. He paused for a moment, then looked downwards, his hand sparking and making light, trying to see down it... |

[The Galantine] Quickly, everyone loaded onto the ship and it set off. Didymus, Blake and Cid were given a small room to share, that was actually part of the ship's hold. It was cramped, and instead of beds they had only cots on the floor – but it was all that could be afforded. The ship was massive, but much of its space was already in use for other things. Garnet on the other hand was given a cabin to sleep in, near the Captain's quarters. She was a Princess and the King had instructed that she be treated like a VIP, so the Captain had deprived the first officer of his usual lodging. The trip was a long one, but the Galantine was such a fine vessel that it was hard to notice they were even at sea. It was truly the heart of Avalon's fleet for a reason. Several hours passed by. Cid was talking with the Captain, who was an old friend of his. Garnet was out on the deck, watching the sea pass by. [Forest] Musashi smiled, hugging Kyran for a moment as she kissed him. He was glad to see she was safe, and even if Galv and Elysia would disapprove he was grateful for the kiss. As Galv tried to light up the well, a great puff of smoke suddenly shot up! It was jet black, and rose high into the air. Smoke billowed from the well for nearly a full minute, and then it just... stopped. “That's odd...” Musashi frowned. “I wouldn't expect a fire in a WELL of all places.” [Ankh-Morpork] Nanami walked over to Carrot. She needed to tell him about everything that happened. So she told him the tale of a Brotherhood outpost beneath the city, in the old section of Ankh-Morpork. “The Dark Brotherhood is alive and well beneath this city. They may move their base, now that we know, but the fact they are so numerous is very grim news, on top of everything else. Ankh-Morpork may be more dangerous than anyone imagined.” |

The Galantine Didymus was a tad disappointed to see that they were just going to be cramped together in the ship's hold, but frankly...he had had worse before, and said not a word out loud about it, but simply thanked the sailor who showed them to it. In fact, he didn't say much out loud at all. He took some time out of the way in a more quiet, seculded area of the ship/hold, before going above deck himself. He looked around, seeing the crew members, Garnet, all of them...and reflected, himself watching the sea go by. He wondered...about this mission, about everything. Indeed, it was often when he was quiet-which was itself a frequent occurrence-that his mind was reflecting the most. |

-The Galantine- Blake was quiet for those first few hours, trying to decide how to best approach things. Coming up on top, he found Garnet and Didymus, and walked over to them. “Excuse me...Didymus, Princess Garnet...” Blake said to them, “May I speak to you two about something? It's important...” -Woods- Galv frowned, staring at the smoke. Had it reacted to the light, the electricity, or something else? “I'm gonna try that again. With a little more umph this time,” Galv said. He focused, creating a sparking orb of electricity, then tossed it down the well as well! -Ankh-Morpork- “I see...Thank you for your assistance,” Carrot told Nanami, “Ankh-Morpork is in your debt. I'm sure the Patrician will want to thank you himself, as well.” He turned to send someone to relay the information to Commander Vimes, Jimi and Hammah walking over to Nanami. “Well that was fun,” Jimi said idly, “Is that what it's normally like for you?” Beast Boy hurried over to the now unconscious Raven, bending down to check on her. “Come on, be okay...” he muttered. |

The Galantine Didymus was curious as to Blake's statement. Something important? Now, after they had left? "Yes? What is it?" he said, his voice lacking a grim tone. Grave as his thoughts may have been, there was no need to be hostile now... |

[The Galantine] Garnet leaned away from the railing, turning around to Didymus and Blake when the latter approached. She gave a slight smile, pushing some of her hair behind her ear. “Of course. Is something wrong?” Garnet asked. [Woods] This time, when Galv threw a larger electric blast into the well... it did absolutely nothing. There was no smoke, no strange noise, nothing else that was happening. Musashi blinked and walked over, peering down into the well. “Huh...” Musashi rubbed his chin. “I wonder... it was probably a magical seal in the well. I've heard of them before, they can attract monsters. If you destroyed it the first time, then the well is probably safe now...” [Ankh-Morpork] Nanami nodded to Carrot, and then looked over to Jimi. “Pretty much. I've been through a lot of things like this... although not quite on this level. The Dark Brotherhood is a serious threat.” Nanami shook her head, leaning against a nearby wall. “... What about you and your brother?” […] Raven stirred. Her eyes opened, and they looked normal once again. She looked up at Beast Boy weakly. “... Wha... happened?” |

-Woods- “Good then. We should head back,” Galv said to Musashi and his youngest daughters, “Musashi, are you okay? You got hurt earlier... I think Sage packed some healing potions back with the wagon, thankfully...” He still didn't like Musashi, but he couldn't find too much fault with him right now, and if Sage, son of Ryan, could be a nice guy... Well, Galv was willing to give him a little leeway for now. -Ankh-Morpork- “Nothing like this,” Jimi said, “City life is pretty exciting, but we're not important enough for anyone to hire assassins against us. Occasionally the Thieves' Guild tries to give us trouble, but we scare them off.” “Ummmm...you kinda went all scary and shadow and dark and demonicy,” Beast Boy answered, waving his arms in an effort to demonstrate. “We knocked you out though! You seem better now...You're not gonna do all that scary stuff again, are you?” -The Galantine- Blake paused, then nodded. “Thank you, can you fol-” Blake began, but cut himself off. He wanted to tell them somewhere private...which would mean bringing them into the ship and some dark corner where no one would be. Which would serve to undermine what he wanted to say. “No, I can say it here. In the open...” Blake said, “It's...a bit of a story...” He was quiet, closing his eyes for a moment, searching for the best way to begin. “The brown haired man who was at the docks with me, and at the meeting...He is an Immortal, as far as he can tell. He has lived a long life in this world, and while he looks like he could more be my brother, he is actually my grandfather. He was wandered the world for a long time, and roughly fifty years ago, he met someone. They would have two children, twins. One my aunt, the other my father. Neither of them would have my grandfather's immortality, however. “My grandmother died shortly after giving birth, and my aunt was taken captive. My grandfather became distraught, and took my father in his travels, raising him. Eventually they would meet a young girl, the same age as my father. She had the powers of shadows, much like mine. My and she fell in love, and eventually settled down and had four children, including me. I have an older sister, and two younger sisters. Two of us have our father's power, a bright, electrical light, lightning. Another two, myself included, have my mother's power, the cold shadows, that become stronger with my father's ability. Didymus and Garnet were probably wondering what Blake was driving at, and why he still seemed so nervous. “None of us have our grandfather's Immortality, and he is largely a good man who does what is right. But...my other grandfather...” Blake was quiet for a moment, before continuing, “My mother's father...He was...is...a terrible man, if he is indeed still a man, and not a monster. He wakes the dead, pollutes the world with evil...My grandfather, you see...He is the Dark Lord himself...” Blake was quiet now, holding up his hands, showing he wasn't hiding anything, “I tell you this now, in broad daylight, out in the open. If you decide I can not be trusted, I understand...But I feel I am here on this quest for a reason now, if it's to stop my grandfather...” |

[Woods] “Oh, I'll be fine.” Musashi said, hand waving away Galv's concerns. “I've been through way worse than this.” Musashi had a habit of getting injured. It was rare for him to get through a dangerous situation without getting harmed in some way, and he had gotten quite used to it... not that he ever actually enjoyed it, but he had learned to deal with it. “But you're right, we should get back.” [Ankh-Morpork] Nanami nodded. “Come on. I'm going to go see the Patrician. You and Hammah should come with me, you did a lot to help stop the Brotherhood today.” She just assumed that Jimi and Hammah would want to meet the slightly creepy ruler of Ankh-Morpork. Raven's face turned very pale, even by her standards. She suddenly scrambled to her feet, stepping away from Beast Boy and slinking her head back into her cloak. “... I have to go... I'm sorry...” She turned and started to float away. Beast Boy and Umbra had seen her “dark side”... she could never explain the truth to them. She had to flee! [The Galantine] Garnet listened as Blake started to explain about his family. She was a bit intrigued to hear about his paternal grandfather. It was an intriguing story, and it made Garnet wonder if this seemingly immortal man was still around. She was about to ask him something, when he got to the real issue. His maternal grandfather. Garnet gasped, clasping her hands over her mouth when he dropped the bombshell and revealed that his grandfather was the Dark Lord of the North. Garnet wondered how that was possible. She had never heard anyone speak of the Dark Lord having a family... and besides, he had been in power centuries ago! Though she stopped and considered it. The Dark Lord was no ordinary man... he was supposed to have been destroyed centuries ago, but if he survived somehow, she supposed it would make sense that he could have a family... “... I appreciate you telling us, Blake.” Garnet said quietly. “... I don't quite know what to say, but... I don't think it would be fair to judge you based on your grandfather's actions...” However, Garnet knew it was not her place to decide if Blake was still welcomed here or not. She was a guest in Avalon, after all. |

The Galantine Didymus was...not pleased...by this. Why this person had been following them, now how he had managed to get allowed to come on this mission...now, all manner of reasons began to appear in his mind, many of them not good by any means. His demeanor returned to its more earnest form. "I am not in command here..." he said. "Come on. You're going to tell the elder aboard what you just told us." |

-The Galantine- “I understand...” Blake said to Didymus, “I apologize for not saying this earlier...I was afraid... I do speak the truth, my meeting of you two was an accident, I was headed towards Avalon to seek my father's father, to inform him of the soon to be birth of his great grandchild, I had no dark reasons.” Blake followed Didymus towards the elder now, to repeat what he had said. -Woods- “Right...” Galv said, “I'm glad we could do some good here for those people...” Kyran smiled, holding Musashi's arm and walking next to him, “Me too! And Musashi, you were so brave!” Galv frowned. -Ankh-Morpork- “Us?” “Meet the Patrician?” Jimi and Hammah shared a glance. “We don't meet him! The Patrician only meets with Guild leaders!” Jimi protested. “And Vimes,” Hammah pointed out, “And Carrot.” “And Harry King...” “He's practically a Guild himself though.” “But us? Meet The Patrician?” Jimi and Hammah frowned, doing a weird brother-telepathy thing, before they turned back to Nanami. “Alright, fine...But don't expect us to do much talking,” Jimi said. “I heard The Patrician has a way of making you spill your secrets.” Which was simply being quiet and letting the other person fill that silence with their thoughts. Most certainly a technique Nanami used often. “No! Hey, wait!” Beast Boy yelled, running after Raven, “Look, I don't care if you're some crazy demon girl! You were nice to me before when you didn't have to be! I know I look weird, and people give me stares a lot... But just because you're different doesn't mean you're bad...” |

[The Galantine] Cid was with the Captain, the two of them sitting in his quarters. They were drinking tea that had a strong peppermint aroma to it. When Didymus, Blake and Garnet arrived, Cid stood up and looked over to them. He immediately took note of their faces. They all looked distressed in some way... and Cid immediately knew something was very wrong. “... What happened?” Cid asked with a sigh. [Woods] Musashi smiled, leaning close to Kyran. “I'm happy too. It feels good to have helped someone...” Musashi smiled. [Ankh-Morpork] “It'll be fine. The Patrician's a powerful man, but the leaders of nations always are.” Nanami pointed out, shaking her head as they were taken towards the Patrician's office. Raven stopped, and turned towards Beast Boy. She sank back, letting her cloak cover her face. “... You don't understand... no one ever can...” Raven said silently. |

-The Galantine- Blake was quiet for a moment, summoning up his courage before he spoke. Blake told Cid what he told Didymus and Garnet. About his immortal grandfather, his father, his mother, his siblings. Explaining his family details as he did earlier. He paused, then told Cid the big secret. “But my maternal grandfather...my mother's father, is a terrible man. One responsible for most of the darkness that plagues these lands...He is...The Dark Lord...” -Ankh-Morpork- As Nanami, Jimi, and Hammah headed to the Patrician's Office, Commander Sir Samuel Vimes appeared, taking a drag on a cheap cigar, frowning as he swung into step beside them. “Veternari wants to see you,” Vimes said idly, “He wants to see me too.” Vimes didn't know Nanami very well, but he liked her. She had a no nonsense attitude, just helped the city a great deal, and wasn't annoying. Jimi and Hammah shared a glance. Being in the company of the Patrician and the Commander of the City Watch? This was nerve racking... -Cottage- Soon the four would return to the cottage, Galv knocking on the door before he walked in. “We found the well,” Galv said to the old couple, “There was a monster, and some kind of evil rune drawing monsters to the forest. We managed to get rid of it though. The forest should be safer now.” Kyran smiled, looking over to Musashi a bit, smiling and leaning into him, “Are you sure you're okay though? I could take a look at it for you...” |
