[Dark Brotherhood Base] Nanami watched Zyth as he tossed another of the glowing blades at her, and then immediately rushed at her. She had quickly discovered the last time that engaging in melee was dangerous. She didn’t know if she could win a straight up melee fight, especially in the enclosed space. So she narrowly dodged the yellow blade, and then aimed her wand down in front of her and sent out a much wider Ice Beam. It covered the ground in a thick sheet of ice that would make movement VERY difficult; but as Nanami had extensive experience in fighting on ice, she hoped it would give her an upper hand. So as Zyth closed the gap, she moved to meet him and aimed her dagger at his neck! |

[Dark Brotherhood Base] Zyth always hated fighting magic users. Especially magic users that were versed in melee combat, wore armor and could tango with the best of them. He never possessed much in the way of skill with magic for his talents were in other things, but he always despised fighting magic users because they were so varied, so unpredictable, so dangerous. Assassinations were meant to be instant things. The target should never know when they are targeted, and the kill clean. It's a simple philosophy, but many ignored it in favor of flair. The only reason Zyth hadn't killed Nanami was because of the confined space, his own rather obvious signature at the moment due to the magic surge from his heart, and the fact that he wasn't trying to kill Nanami in the first place. He almost had the advantage again, closing distance into melee when NAnami turned the field to ice and jumped at him, trying to do what he tried to do to her. With the irony of the moment passing through his thoughts, he had to quickly try to stabilize himself with that chain, snapping it to the ceiling just as he slipped on the sheet of ice. He actually began to fall, barely able to bring his own knife to bear against Nanami's in another screeching clang before the chain snapped taut and pulled him upward. This had the unfortunate effect of wrenching the dagger from his hand as he went up, however, Nanami's grip much stronger than his own. But as he ascended to the ceiling, he bounced right off of it, twirling around as to wrap the chain around himself like a malevolent viper, the spin letting him build the right momentum to snap another knife at her, this one made of black stone and barely glowing at all. Too bad it was quite visible in the light of the five other knives around the area... |

-Forest- “Emperor, huh? So you're a prince?” Galv asked, scratching his chin as he thought about it, then sighed, “I have to be honest, that probably works in your favor with Kyran...She always loves those old fairy tales with some prince showing up.” He sighed a little, shrugging his shoulders. He could tell that Musashi's father, this Emperor, appeared to be a sore subject. Considering Galv wasn't on the friendliest terms with his own father, he didn't pursue that line of questioning. “So what made you leave home? Wanted to explore the lands?” Galv asked. -Ankh-Morpork- Carrot sighed, “From what I can tell, Maghda was killed earlier. The cult, we think, is the Dark Brotherhood, and the Watch has been trying to track them for a while now, along with the Assassins' Guild here. We haven't had any luck so far. If you have any information that may help, it would be greatly appreciated.” |

[Dark Brotherhood Base] Nanami was relieved to see Zyth slip, and for a moment she considered pressing her luck and trying to stab him in the lungs – but simply killing him was out of the question. She needed information, and dead men were very hard to make talk. She just wanted to hurt him enough to hold him down and force him to talk at knifepoint. When he jumped back up and tossed a black knife at her, she darted to the edge to evade it. Nanami decided to play two at his game, and she tossed several knives towards Zyth, all of them glowing with a light frost. [Forest] “Well, technically… but the Emperor has a looooooot of kids. I’m nowhere near the actual line of succession to the throne.” Musashi explained, rubbing the back of his neck. When Galv ask why he left home… he frown. If he explained the real reason, he was quite sure that Galv would not want him anywhere near Kyran. “… I’m on a quest. Looking for someone.” [Ankh-Morpork] “The Dark Brotherhood?” Raven asked, her eyes widening. “… I don’t have any information that could help you… except…” She frowned. “I might be able to make a trap for them.” |

[Dark Brotherhood Base] Zyth decided the most prudent way to get out of the way of those thrown blades was to deflect the first and step aside for the others to pass, taking the opening provided by deflecting the first blade with... A rainbow-colored dagger? It was the same shape and size as the other six Zyth had thrown before, but this one danced in a multitude of colors in his hand, reflecting the light around him in a rather splendid display of color. He jumped past the last knife, just within ten feet of Nanami, and raised his knife hand in front of him, the knife held in reverse grip... And finally spoke a single word with his odd, quiet half-whisper. "Fly." As he said it, the lights changed positions. The six daggers he had thrown before and that had been scattered all over the place suddenly up and detached themselves from the walls, ceiling and floor, and shot at Nanami like bullets shot from a firearm, moving far faster than his previous throws. The flashes of light looked like they were on a collision course with Nanami from directions that boxed her in and would strike her from a variety of angles! |

[Dark Brotherhood Base] Nanami knew she was in trouble the moment Zyth held up the rainbow colored knife. As the knives shot at her, she was sure to be impaled with at least two of them, even if she did her absolute best dodging. … but she had one trick up her sleeve. It was a trick she hated to rely on, but one she had to in this case, and luckily all it took was a single word to make it work. “WULD!” Nanami shouted and she suddenly sprinted across the room at an insane speed. As fast as the knives flew, she was faster; such was the power of the Dragonborn. It had one more big advantage – she was now standing behind Zyth, and she immediately tried to stab him in the lower back! |

-Forest- “Whether you were first in line or just the janitor, that doesn't matter to me,” Galv said to Musashi, as they neared the well. “But who are you looking for? Anyone I should be worried about?” He didn't want Kyran getting caught up in more bad stuff. Enough already with her Dark Lord grandfather showing back up... -Ankh-Morpork- Carrot paused, then nodded. “Alright then, it's settled. I'm swearing all three of you in as temporary constables,” Carrot said, “With your help, hopefully we can stop them.” Beast Boy looked up, “Wait, what? Us? Cops?” “Just for a bit!” Carrot said with a smile. It wasn't scary or creepy, but so geniune one couldn't help but believe his words completely, “That way you can aid in Watch business.” |

[Dark Brotherhood Base] Nanami got out of his trap. That by itself was impressive, and the elf was already ranking his opponent upward, but then she went and got behind him faster than he could actually dodge out of the way. So it was no surprise that her dagger actually hit something solid. But that was the whole point: Something solid. With her strength, she would feel something give as the dagger struck true and forced something open, but only the tip of her blade embedded into the elf's back, drawing a little bit of blood but not doing any lethal damage. But she went at his back like a fighter, not like someone attempting to kill. And that gave the elf just that one tiny bit of advantage. As she was slipping her dagger back out to try and back away, he brought an arm around, the blade of his own dagger aiming for her throat. For once, Zyth was cursing his own lack of speed. His opponent ended up faster than he was with but one word. The Dragonborn were indeed frightening warriors... |

I'll bite your legs off!

Avalon border town When Garnet rushed forward, some of the children backed towards here, but some hesitated, looking from her to Didymus. Meanwhile, others remained standing there, looking dazed (the ones Didymus had briefly laid a hand on earlier). Some others, though, looked to another alley... "Come little children, I'll take thee away into a land of enchantment come little children, the time's come to play here in my garden of shadows..." The strange music continued... Meanwhile, the old woman whispered something, and vanished, reappearing back with her rats-though apparently looking worse for wear. "I do not invoke any power but my own, Paladin..." she said. "...which means you are out of your element!" she snapped again, and some of the rats jumped over Blake's shadows, at Didymus! Without flinching, Didymus cleaved them all in two in mid-air, still whispering a prayer... "...ma'am, I have combated many things besides those who practice "dark rituals". And He seems to have been with me through them well enough-even if they were just elven conscripts just following orders. On the other hand, I can't say what you wanted these children for, but I don't presume it's anything good..." he gestured at the children. "...so I'll give you one more chance...surrender yourself, PLEASE." The old woman scowled, as Blake's shadows tossed more of her rats at her feet. She raised her hands-and Didymus' sword thrust into the ground, a blinding light bursting forward, illuminating the area in front of him VERY brightly! The old woman fell back and shrieked, clutching her face as her rats were blown back, squealing and hissing! Didymus charged forward... ...some of the children near Garnet were looking toward the alley, now beginning to wander towards it, as the song continued... [Forest] Musashi rubbed the back of his neck. He probably shouldn’t mention that he had been cursed, was dying, and was looking for the magical assassin who cursed him. He sighed… he didn’t really want to lie to Kyran’s father. “Unfortunately, I don’t know much about him.” Musashi said, and it was technically true. “Which makes finding him difficult.” [Ankh-Morpork] Raven raised an eyebrow. “I’m… a cop? That’s… ironic.” Raven sighed, shaking her head. “Anyway... like I said, I can create a trap for the Dark Brotherhood. All I need to do is send out a little magical signal and they should be able to sense it. They’ll be intrigued enough to come looking for me, and then you’ll be able to arrest them.” [Dark Brotherhood Base] Nanami had to quickly throw her body weight back to evade having her throat slashed. The blade DID make contact with her neck, but only just barely. There was a slight red line on her neck and some blood leaked out, but it wasn’t a serious wound. She jumped back away from Zyth, now on the defensive. His armor was impressive, and she was less than surprised. He was a cunning opponent. She raised her wand and sent out a flurry of snow and ice at Zyth from as close a range as she could! [Avalon Border Town] Garnet frowned. She could not allow the children to get near the alley… she decided there was only one way to prevent them from leaving her side, so she raised her racket over her head and started to mutter softly. A bright white light engulfed her, and the children, creating a large diamond-shaped shield. It would be impossible for the children to get past the shield – and just as important, it would deflect dangers from the outside. … but she could only do it for so long. |

I'll bite your legs off!

Avalon border town Didymus charged at "Granny", storming into her house, and she was able to recover from the light just in time for him to punch her across the jaw! She stumbled back, and her rats swarmed back, trying to overwhelm Didymus! He suddenly began to move quicker, faster, and with precise coordination-cutting swaths of rats and deflecting them with his sword, his free fist, his feet, and he eventually took another swing at the old woman, who stumbled back yet again, now woozy from her injuries...she hissed, knocked back, and opened her arms-and was wide open for the pommel of Didymus' blade. Finally subdued, she crumpled to the ground, the rats scattering away. Didyums turned to look outside, and noticed something... ...outside, out of the alley, a creature began to appear...phantasmal, it appeared, but arguably having a kind of...beauty, to its appearence. It seemed to shift between a quadrupedal and bipedal form, and shimmered black and dark blue like a starry night sky, carrying itself with an air of...dignity, perhaps, in either form it took... ...the music, in a haunting, enchanting voice, got louder as it approached...and it walked up to Garnet's shield, pressing on it... ...she would have felt something VERY powerful when it pressed on it, demanding she LET IT IN... "Come little children, the time's come to play, here in my garden of shadows..." the song said again, still sounding from the alley... Edited by The Vidit of Light, Mar 23 2013, 11:32 PM.

[Avalon Border Town] Garnet gasped as she saw the creature appear out of the alley. She could not quite identify what it was, but it frightened her. When it pressed on the shield, she suddenly stumbled and nearly fell over. She had not expected such a powerful blow to the Barrier. She gritted her teeth and held the racket in front of her, trying to strengthen the shield as much as she could. The Shield spell was quite potent, but it was a drain to keep it up for too long. ‘Sir Didymus… Blake… where are you? I cannot fight such a creature on my own… but if I do not withstand, these children will be taken…’ |

Avalon border town The creature continued its attack on Garnet's barrier, pressing, apparently angered by her resistance... Suddenly, Didymus cried out something, his voice sounding at once forceful and pleading: "Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, smurf sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis!" He bolted out the door of the house, his sword glowing golden, and charged at the creature! It seemed, even, aglow himself, he swiped his sword at it, and it reared back, a horrible sound, like a cross between a horse's whinny and a woman's scream pierced the air as Didymus struck! "Lux aeterna luceat eis, Domine, smurf sanctis tuis in aeternum, quia pius es. Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis!" Didymus' voice sounded, again, as if he was pleading, not demanding... He struck again, the creature cried out again, even louder, and sunk back into the alley, vanishing! Charging at the alley, the Paladin saw a pair of individuals, a man and woman, one in armor, the other in robes, each bearing the symbol of a crescent moon amidst a starry sky...both apparently dazed by the repulsion of the creature! He took the chance to strike them, and they seemed to slump over in unconsciousness... When that was over, he grabbed them and dragged them out into the alley, before heading back into the house and doing the same with "Granny", who was still out. He was quiet for a moment, head bowed, before finally speaking again. "I think it is safe now. Are the children alright?" |

[Avalon Border Town] Didymus came just in time. Garnet’s strength was giving out. It was clear just from looking at her. Her knees were shaking, and her elbows were bent under what seemed like a great weight. Still she held her racket forward, keeping the diamond-shaped shield up and glowing. When Didymus had defeated the odd creature, Garnet finally collapsed to her hands and knees, dropping the racket. Immediately the shield disappeared, and Garnet was breathing heavy. Although she was a truly talented mage, keeping the Barrier up for so long had been a true strain on her body. “I… I think so…” She called to Didymus when he asked about the children. |

-Avalon Border Town- Blake let his shadows subside now that the threat was done, letting them move around himself before they disappeared completely for now. “Well that was exciting,” he sighed, shaking his head and walking over to Didymus and Garnet, looking towards the three captives Didymus had placed unconscious in the street. “What are we going to do with these three? Does this town have a place that can hold them?” Blake asked. -Forest- “I see...” Galv said, sighing now, “You do know that Kyran will want to help you, right? She does that for people, helps them. And considering you already helped us...Well, I'm not one to let a debt go unfilled. Besides, not really fond of people who use their abilities for evil, or their own personal gains.” He turned towards Musashi, looking up a little at the younger man. Galv's short. “If you really want help, you might want to find my son, Blake. He's been traveling a lot across the lands, if any of us will know anything, it'll probably be him...” Galv said. -Ankh-Morpork- “Nonsense, the Watch prides itself in employing members of every ethnicity in it,” Carrot smiled. The Watch here in Ankh-Morpork had at least one representative of most of the sentient species in it's ranks. Humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, trolls, etc. “And alright then, how much space will you need?” Carrot asked, “We'll have to make sure to clear at least part of the area as well.” |
