Didymus kept pushing, striking down elf after elf, knocking them out quickly...occassionally, they could perhaps hear him saying something, occassionaly a flash of light would blind his opponents, and so things went on. Slowly, surely, they were winning...

[Gondor/Avalon Border]

“… How is this even possible? Never have I seen humans so strong…” One of the Thalmor commanders frowned, and then he held up his hand and fired a spell; a large flare that exploded in the air above.

It was the signal to retreat.

The remaining Thalmor turned and fled into the trees.

When all had settled, it seemed that the two humans had somehow overcome the Thalmor, despite all the odds.

“That… was incredible!” Garnet lowered her barrier and rushed over to the two. “Like something from out of a story! You defeat them all… you made them flee! Even Lord Garland couldn’t stand up to an army like that…”

She frowned, remembering Garland’s betrayal, and the fact he was serving the Darkness.

“Indeed… that was a most impressive battle.”

The hooded strange came out of the woods. He had a few wounds, and his sword was covered in blood; but he was still alive.

“I seem to have stumbled onto an impressive group.”

[Cart]

Musashi frowned. He would have much rather stayed in the cart with Kyran… but decided that he should probably do as this man asked. So he slowly extricated himself so as not to wake her up, and followed them to the roof.

“Right. The roof it is, then.”

[Ankh-Morpork]

As they headed deeper into the darkness, the path they were following soon came to an end. There was a large door, carved from black stone. On it was the image of a skull.

The door looked terrifying.

“That is the symbol of the Dark Brotherhood.” Nanami whispered. “I’ve heard the doors are enchanted. Impossible to open… I wonder if that’s true?”

"It is not MY strength you face, elf!" Didymus called in battle. "Not MY power that is being shown through me! I have tried to speak gospel!"

When the elf finally ran, Garnet ran over to them, and seemed...taken...by the events.

"Thank you, Lady Garnet, but...not to me be the glory, that wasn't MY power on display here, but His."

He raised an eyebrow at the hooded figure.

"Thank you, but...I am afraid I must once again ask who you are...though to offer what I ask, I am Brother Didymus."

“Good...” Galv said, as Musashi got on the room too, Kyran now falling over on her sister Elysia.

On the roof now, Sage had the driver start back up again once everyone was situation. Galv frowned, then looked over to Musashi.

“So who are you?” Galv asked, “I didn't get much of a chance to find out earlier...What's your relations with my daughters?”

Sage stayed quiet. What Galv was saying to Musashi was very close to what Galv said to Sage over a decade ago...

-Ankh-Morpork-

Jimi and Hammah stared at the door, thinking.

“Maybe we could just go around it?” Jimi suggested, “Maybe try to burrow under it?”

“Hmmm...” Hammah stepped forward towards the door.

“Hey...creepy door...could you open for us?” Hammah simply asked.

Jimi facepalmed.

-Gonder/Avalon Border-

“Nevertheless, your power or not, you wielded it well,” Blake said to Didymus, taking a few deep breathes, then turned towards the new hooded man. “And my name is Blake...Blake Hawkins...”

Musashi felt uncomfortable all of the sudden… but he just gave a large smile. He was never the sort to let an awkward situation get in the way of having a good time.

“I’m Musashi Miyamoto… twelfth prince of the Wutai Dynasty.” He wasn’t actually trying to brag, but decided it was best not to try to disguise his identity since Kyran and Elysia could just tell him later.

“I met your daughters in Ankh-Morpork earlier today. We were having a lovely day until there was a little mess with a dragon, and some squid-headed monster.”

Musashi did not know the technical term for a Mindflayer… few people did. They had not been seen in public since the Great War, and the few brave or stupid enough to venture into the deep, dark places where they hid often did not return.

[Ankh-Morpork]

“Doors don’t open just because you ask them to.” Nanami sighed.

Then, the creepy skull on the door began to speak.

“… YOU WISH ENTRY… PROCEED…”

The door flipped open. And Nanami nearly fainted.

[Gondor/Avalon Border]

The hooded stranger removed his hood, revealing a man with a full beard and long hair. He nodded to the two.

“Well met, both of you. I am John. John Smith.”

John had given a false name, though technically it was how he was known in Avalon whenever his travels took him there, and they were on the edge of Avalon now.

“… You are a Paladin, yes? I can tell from your robe, and from whom you credit with victory. I know a shortcut to a Watch Tower near here. I have seen Paladins use it before. I can take you, if you wish.”

“I see...It seems Kyran has taken a shine to you,” Galv said to Musashi. It didn't seem that he was impressed with Muashi being a prince, still frowning a little.

“What are your intentions with my daughter anyways?” Galv then added.

Sage stayed perfectly quiet.

-Ankh-Morpork-

Hammah grinned, moving forward, Jimi after him, glancing back towards Nanami.

They would have to be careful.

Inside, a large stone statue of a dragon growled lowly, it's eyes glowing red.

“We...have...visitors...” Shendu said quietly.

-Gonder/Avalon Border-

“Thank you for your help,” Blake said to 'John Smith.' He then glanced towards Didymus and Garnet, “As for your continued help, that's not my decision to make...”

Musashi blinked. This… seemed like a bad question to answer honestly.

“Well, I’d intended to ask her out, but the dragon sort of put a damper on things.” Musashi shrugged.

… Musashi’s the sort who would be this blunt.

[Ankh-Morpork]

“I know.” Lucien LaChance stepped out of the shadows, looking to Shendu. “I let them in. We’re in good fortune, despite what happened above. That girl… I know her.”

Lucien smirked, running his finger along the edge of his knife.

“She’s been trained by the Graybeards. Always running around and doing good. She’s killed several members of the Dark Brotherhood in the past… and I daresay she was involved in stopping the dragon.”

He leaned against the wall. “So why not invite them in? Put a knife in their spines and watch them bleed.”

[…]

Nanami was carefully creeping ahead. She was worried about all of this. It was too easy…

[Gondor/Avalon Border]

‘John Smith’ nodded. “I understand. I can make you one promise… I will not ask your business. Though I confess I do find myself wondering how a Paladin, a Shadow-Users and the Princess of Alexandria came to be traveling companions.”

Garnet gasped. “You know who I am?”

“Of course.” John nodded. “I have seen you before, Your Highness. My travels take me many places. And one seldom forgets the face of a future monarch.”

“And do you intend to still do so?” Galv asked, “Despite everything else you've seen about her family and her powers?”

This is a test, Musashi.

-Ankh-Morpork-

“You better know what you are doing Lucien...I do not tolerate failure well,” Shendu said, “Kill these intruders before they discover much...”

Smash!

Hammah tripped over a loose stone, arms flailing, knocking over an ornament on a shelf as he tried to regain his balance!

Jimi grimaced. This would not be good...

Musashi blinked.

“… Well, of course I do!” Musashi laughed a bit. “Why wouldn’t I? I mean, that weird guy back in Ankh-Morpork who tried to kill us was a bit off-putting, but the rest of you seem nice.”

Then, his smile faded slightly.

“Besides… I’ve always believed in living life to its fullest…”

He didn’t exactly want to mention the death cruse.

[Ankh-Morpork]

“Do not worry,” Lucien bowed to Shendu. “I always know what I’m doing.”

Now is a good time to remind you that Lucien LaChance has the same voice actor as another Bethesda villain.

So… he’s probably going to be extremely annoying.

[…]

Nanami glared daggers at Hammah. This is why she liked to work alone.

Suddenly, the room turned completely dark. As if all light had been sucked out. There was the sound of hurried footsteps…

And then, several people attacked! One tried to stab Jimi in the back, one tried to stab Hammah, and one tried to stab Nanami!

Nanami stabbed him first.

Didymus nodded to Blake.

"Thank you...though, perhaps, it may be more accurate to say it used ME well...thank you again, though...at any rate..."

He looked to the stranger.

"...I suppose we aren't disguising the lady's identity much...if you know a shortcut to a guard post, tell us of it, please. Where is it, the conditions of the road, and where does it lead? I may wish to ask you to come along, but...I'll be honest, I'm debating it. I mean no offense, sir, and I apologize if I give it nonetheless, but surely you can understand the value of discretion in this case. You've certainly gained some trust by killing some thalmor yourself, but...I think you can agree that it wouldn't be particularly unusual for the thalmor to allow one of their spies to kill some of their own to establish cover..."

He really didn't mean to be offensive...but care was needed.

Though he suspected he'd agree to allow this "John Smith", if that was his name, to lead them along this "shortcut"...

"Dad! Don't accept that answer so easily!" Elysia exclaimed with a scowl, still not trusting Musashi (despite the fact that she had trusted a complete strange who tried to kill the Prince). "He's not good for Kyran! I would know, i'm her twin!"

"Oh be nice Elysia" Joyce said, having recovered from her bout of nausea long enough to give her opinion. "I think they're pretty cute"

Elysia couldn't help but to groan. "It's the hormones Joyce! You don't mean that!"

Galv frowned a little, “Fine...just don't try and live life completely to the fullest. I don't intend to be a grandfather again so soon.”

He then looked down towards Elysia in the cart, “I'm not saying I trust him Elysia...but Kyran's smart enough to look out for herself...”

Galv was protective of his daughters...but not to the same point his mother-in-law was.

-Ankh-Morpork-

It went dark, and Hammah tripped again, dodging the knife that way. Flames burst from around him, letting him see and throwing a fireball at his assailant.

Jimi meanwhile, having grown up on the streets of Ankh-Morpork, managed to dodge the knife and grab the man's arm in his arm, twisting to break the bone, before turning around himself and stomping into the ground, dropping the assailant into a hole!

-Gondor/Avalon Border-

Blake nodded, “Let's go then...hopefully their aren't any more Thalmor nearby...”

He focused, letting his shadows go outwards from him, to check around them.

“Fine...just don't try and live life completely to the fullest. I don't intend to be a grandfather again so soon.”

Musashi decided it was best not to mention that he was dying of a death curse, and that he actually did intend to have a child within the year before he would die.

“I don’t intend anything bad to happen to Kyran. And to be fair, I did fight a crazy octopus-headed wizard to protect her… I’d like to think that should earn a bit of trust.” Musashi shrugged.

[Ankh-Morpork]

Nanami moved and stabbed down the two remaining Assassins.

“Are you both alright?” She asked, turning to the two.

[Gondor/Avalon Border]

The man looked to Didymus and he smiled behind his beard.

“You’re wise not to simply trust a stranger in the woods… but there’s no way that I am a Thalmor spy. I am a human, and the Thalmor consult with very few of our kind. Still I shall not come where I am not welcomed.”

He pointed towards a barely visible path in the trees.

“Follow that path. It will take you to the nearest outpost.”

Didymus paused, not sure what to do at this moment...

“You’re wise not to simply trust a stranger in the woods… but there’s no way that I am a Thalmor spy. I am a human, and the Thalmor consult with very few of our kind. Still I shall not come where I am not welcomed.”

"A superb point, but I generally think little if anything is outside of the thalmor's acceptable strategy as long as they deem it can bring about their ends..." he replied.

"..."

He was quiet now, and it appeared as if he was praying again...then he looked back up, staring, it appeared, intently at "John"...

“... I trust him.” Garnet spoke up, and stepped forward. The Princess seemed very pale at the moment, and she was shaking a bit. She had never been at the sight of a major battle before, and was not used to bloodshed and the realities of war.

“My judgment may not be the greatest… I trusted my mother, and Lord Garland… but this man… I cannot explain why, but… I do not think he means us any harm.”

‘John Smith’ looked to Garnet and offered a smile. He bowed to her.

“I would never bring harm to you, Princess. You are a descendant of the Great King, are you not?”

Long ago, during the War with Skyrim, humanity had been largely united under one King. A just and powerful man, he had stood with the Great Elf King and Tyrael as they battled against the Dark Lord.

The Great King had two sons. One studied the magical arts, and later went on to be the founder of the nation of Alexandria… the other became the first King of Gondor. Avalon, of course, had been without a King since its foundation. Arturia was the first.

“Yes… so I am told.” Garnet said.

“I thought as much. You shall have an important role to play. Alexandria believes it, Avalon believes it… perhaps Gondor believes it as well. I thank you, Princess, for your trust… but your safety is the concern of your protector here. I shall leave the three of you be. Perhaps we shall meet again in the future, for now, I bid you farewell and Godspeed.”

He bowed once more, and then turned and disappeared into the trees with amazing speed and agility. Not superhuman, just amazing.
