Ankh-Morpork: Hawkin’s Residence

"What!? I'm not coming with YOU or her!" Melanie exclaimed, stepping back. "You're both crazy! You especially" she added towards Rica.

"Melanie now is not the time to fight!" Kanna exclaimed, stepping forward and taking the girl's arm. "It's dangerous"

Melanie blinked looking at her mother. "You haven't aged a day." she stated.

It was true, Kanna was using a very dark magic thanks to Rica....And she hadn't aged for quite some time. By the looks of it she could be Melanie's older sister rather than her mother.

-Ankh-Morpork-

“Awww, Musashi wouldn't hurt me!” Kyran smiled, “Besides if he did, my shadows can defend me Elysia!”

She paused, staring at the strange man who accompanied Elysia as well, frowning at him.

He felt very...off...Her own shadows felt wary about this guy...

“Elysia, you may not trust Musashi, but you trust me most of all, right?” Kyran said, “We're twins after all! Musashi hasn't even tried to kiss me when you weren't around, let alone get me into some harem.”

She grinned brightly, “And even if he did, my shadows would make quick work of him!”

Meanwhile with the threat of the dragon!

“So are you the one who has summoned this beast to this city?”

On the tower a figure emerged from the shadows. He was tall, even compared to Nanami. His eyes burned red too, but his hair was white, his skin tanned. He wore a long coat, and frowned as he stared at Maghda for a moment, then towards the dragon.

“My Master sent me to this city to try and stop this from happening...” the man said almost idly, “I should have known his instincts would be correct...”

-Galv and Melanie's House-

“And I thought it was bad enough with my father...” a voice from behind Rica and Kanna said.

Galv frowned, staring hard at the two. He was older now, like Melanie. His hair was still red, but starting to fade a little as he approached his fiftieth birthday, and he certainly looked older then his father who appeared to perpetually be in the 20s.

“We're not going anywhere, especially with you two,” Galv said, glaring, “Our children are here too. We'll be with them.”

Though that wasn't entirely true. One of their children wasn't currently in Ankh-Morpork...

-Eizenbern Manor-

“Legend says the Cold Iron Armor makes the wearer nigh invincible, but at the price of his sanity and life within a day,” Samuel said, “A foolish item to seek...but me...”

Samuel paused, looking towards a painting on the wall...

“I continue no matter what. People say immortality can not be achieved by those seeking it. The only way we can continue after death is through our children and our deeds,” Samuel continued, “But me, that does not matter. My deeds will disappear to rumor, to whispers, to nothing. My children will die while I continue to walk the earth. I...know of the impermanence of things. Even this mansion of your family's. Someday it will no longer be yours. The wood that built these walls will rot. The stone that lays it's foundations will crumble. For you, that is of little concern. It will happen far beyond your time,” Samuel said, then sighed, turning back to the white haired girl.

“This is an ever changing world in which I can not change. I want the Cold Iron to force a change, whether on me or the world around me...” Samuel finally finished, “That is something I will have to see...”

-Gondor-

The figure in black stepped forward, disappearing in a cloud of shadows, reforming behind one of the Bulbins. He slapped his palm on the back of the creature, focusing as his shadows swarmed the being, covering it completely and sucking it downwards into the ground, where it would not emerge.

The figure turned back to the other one, face unreadable beneath his hood.

“You use the darkness to hide, but you do not realize it hides things worse then yourself,” the figure said to the creature, “Would you care to meet them?”

[Ankh-Morpork]

Musashi rubbed his neck. It was a little odd to hear Kyran boast about how easily her shadows could hurt him… of course, given everything Musashi had seen, he was not about to argue with her.

“Look, Elysia, I’m not up to anything bad… I’m…”

Musashi trailed off as he looked towards the mysterious stranger.

“I’m sorry, what did you say your name was?” Musashi asked, and his eyes narrowed.

“That is not the issue here.” The man, as he had to Elysia before, tried to turn the conversation away from his identity. “The issue is your deception and your bloodlust, young Prince. I tell you now, Elysia, this boy cannot be trusted. He is a danger to you and your sister, and everyone you hold dear.”

There was something about the man’s voice… almost as if he was trying to bewitch Elysia into following his orders. Musashi’s eyes narrowed, and suddenly he drew his sword and slashed at the man!

Immediately the man jumped back and narrowed his eyes.

“You see? He is dangerous! Quick to temper, quick to violence!”

[…]

Nanami looked over as the figure with white hair appeared. Naturally Nanami trusted no one, especially when Maghda floated just feet away. Nanami’s hand was already clenched around the hilt of her sword, and she was ready to strike if an opening came

Above them, the dragon roared once more, but it continued to fly in a circle in the clouds. It did not attack, but rather it seemed to be watching the three on the rooftops.

“Your Master is a fool, as are you.” Maghda replied to the newcomer. “Ankh-Morpork shall burn – and it show the world that the forces of Darkness rise once more! The Dark Lord once more walks the earth, and he grows strong!”

Nanami raised an eyebrow. “The Dark Lord? You worship that dead fool? You must not have paid attention to history… it was the Dragons who helped destroy him! Summoning a Dragon in his honor is as foolish as it is destructive!”

Maghda turned her eyes back to Nanami. “Dragonborn, you know not of what you speak.”

[Galv and Melanie’s House]

Rica said nothing as Melanie called him crazy. A moment later, Galv arrived and Rica remained silent as he turned to look to him.

It was odd that Galv and Melanie now looked older than Kanna and Rica. Rica had never aged in all the time since he had first met Kanna. He was perpetually thirty… and he had been for hundreds of years. Of course, he had been dead for most of that time.

“You seem to be laboring under two delusions.” Rica finally said with a twang in his voice. “First, you seem to think that Ankh-Morpork is safe for you. It is not. Even as we speak, a Dragon soars in the clouds above Downtown. It will soon cast down the great buildings of Ankh-Morpork, burn the streets and devour anyone foolish enough to stay.”

He said all of this without his voice ever breaking. He didn’t even try to hide his amusement.

“Your second delusion is thinking that I am giving you a choice. I am not. You will come with us. Your only choice is whether you come along willingly, or whether we drag your unconscious bodies.”

[Gondor]

The Bublins were capable of speaking the common human tongue, but they rarely did. They hated humans and elves with intense passion, and only spoke in their languages to mock them.

The one in front of the figure growled and hissed, and it tried to smash him in the face with his cudgel!

The Bublins attacking Didymus did not fare any better. The flash of light not only blinded them, but it startled them as well and made them sink back. Their swings were wild and clumsy, and when Didymus struck them they were knocked out easily.

Cid squared off with the Bublin on the back of the great boar. Although he had slashed the creature’s throat, it was still very much alive and trying to smash the elderly Paladin with its axe.

The Elder dodged the blade, and cut the bore’s side, causing it to buck wildly and throw its rider!

Garnet, meanwhile, stayed near the cart. She was sorely afraid of these creatures, having spent all of her life within a castle.

[Eizenbern Manor]

Irisviel said nothing as Samuel spoke. She did not agree with everything that he said, but she did not blame him for thinking it… he knew nothing of the Eizenbern’s. Few did – even Arturia, who was a friend, did not know the truth about the Eizenbern family.

“… Very well. I will allow you to take the Cold Iron from our graveyard, but know that there are consequences you cannot even begin to fathom.” Irisviel warned him. “And you lack the strength to meet the challenges on your own…”

“Elysia...my shadows really don't like this guy,” Kyran said as Musashi attacked him, looking towards her twin, “And besides, he's been accusing Musashi of all this stuff, but he hasn't provided any proof!”

Not like Musashi has provided proof about being a prince and all that, but still!

“...The witch is right, Dragonborn,” the white haired man said, “I know of at least one dragon who fought for the Dark Lord.”

He looked to the dragon in the skies, watching them, “But this is not that one. That does not mean there weren't others...”

-Galv and Melanie's House-

“I think I could take a dragon,” Galv said. Maybe twenty years ago... Even with some wisdom in his older age, Galv was still headstrong, especially when Melanie's safety was concerned.

“And besides, what about our kids? What about our soon to be born grandchild?” Galv said. He didn't mention Sage though, “Considering our history, I'm surprised you haven't just tried to kill me and take Melanie.”

Since neither Rica nor Kanna really liked that Melanie hooked up with someone whose power was of the light...

-Eizenbern Manor-

“We'll see then...” Samuel said, not agreeing with the girl but not going to dispute it to her face. He headed out, back towards the graveyard...

-Gondor-

The cudgel hit a wall of shadows, the figure holding his hands up and creating a shield. Despite this the shadows seemed to crack slightly from the blow, and the short figure bounded backwards, frowning.

“Maybe I shouldn't have skipped so many meals lately...” the figure thought to himself as he moved carefully on the ground.

He focused, then sent his shadows over the ground, intending to have them wrap around the Bublin's feet and then attack that way!

"Hey! Technically that so called prince hasn't either!" Elysia countered to her twin, eyes narrowed.

Galv and Melanie's House

"That could be arranged" Kanna stated, glaring forward at Galv before turning her attention back to Melanie. "A grandchild?"

"Yes. Joyce. She's due here any day....I'm not leaving without her, or any of my children. And since we're staying, we're fighting."

Kanna groaned. She should have expected this to be difficult. "We're not letting you get killed Melanie. You're coming with us now"

Didymus was standing near the cart now. He was uncertain whether to intercede in either of the other skirmishes going on around him, but at least remained focused on the reason they had even gone out-to recuse and keep Garnet safe, at least until they could get her to a haven.

He instead stood, sword ready, silently praying and looking about, staying alert...

[Ankh-Morpork]

Musashi slashed at the mysterious stranger, but the stranger was much faster than the Wutainese Prince. The stranger dodged each and every one of Musashi’s sword slashes with an unnatural kind of speed and agility. He moved in ways that no normal man could move, his body twisting and contorting in ways that the human body should not normally be able to move.

“Elysia! I can tell you don’t like me, but this friend of your’s is definitely creepier than I am!” Musashi shouted towards the dark-haired sister. “This guy is dangerous!”

“He lies!” The stranger shouted at Elysia. “The Prince is the dangerous one, and the one who attacked me! I am only defending myself. Help me stop this dangerous Prince!”

“Ugh! Kyran! You believe me, right?” Musashi shouted as he continued his attack, despite the way the stranger dodged every blow.

[…]

“I’m not all that concerned with the past,” Nanami said, looking to both Maghda and the white-haired man. “I’m concerned with THIS Dragon! I won’t allow it or anything else to destroy this city like you’ve destroyed others, Maghda!”

Nanami raised her hand and muttered – and sent forth a blast of freezing wind and water that consumed Maghda, freezing ice around her.

… However, a moment later, flames shot up all around Maghda’s body and melted the ice.

“You are a fool, Dragonborn! And this city shall burn in my Master’s honor!” Maghda cried, and she raised her hands. “Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!”

All at once, the Dragon let out a great bellow! Then it shot towards the ground, crashing into the center of the city and roared!

The dragon snarled, and started to spit flames all across the streets!

[Galv and Melanie’s House]

Rica sighed. He could easily force them to come along… but that would just be a headache.

“I’ll find your children.” Rica stated. “You two need to come with us now. I have people who can track and find your children faster than you could.”

Rica snapped his fingers, and three figures suddenly appeared out of the shadows.

They were all dressed in black, and had long white hair.

“Yes, Master?” They asked in unison.

“Find Joyce, Blake, Kyran and Elysia and bring them to the base.” Rica commanded them. “And be quick about it.”

[Gondor]

“Didymus!” Garnet rushed to the young Paladin’s side. She was watching as the Bublins attacked, but Cid and the stranger seemed to be keeping them at bay.

“Something is wrong. These creatures shouldn’t have been able to find us… I think this is my fault.” Garnet frowned.

“Well of course it is.”

A figure stepped out from behind the line of trees.

It was Garland.

"Lady Garnet!" Didymus called. "Stay in cover!"

Then, Garland appeared, stating that Garnet's blaming herself was allegedly accurate.

Of course. An enemy never stays away or down when vanquished or defeated...those two Alexandrians who challenged him for some reason are probably...

"Lady Garnet, get back under or behind that wagon."

He held out his sword, quietly, head slightly bowed, as it began to glow again...

Kyran frowned, then held up her hands, focusing as her shadows swirled around her.

They shot up from the ground, grabbing at the mysterious man, trying to stop him!

The white haired man frowned, stepping forward and removing his coat now, fire burning around him.

“Dragon Born, I shall keep the dragon busy until you have handled the witch,” the figure said, then leaped from the building. Fire shot from his fists, slowing his descent, landing in front of the dragon.

“Creature of darkness, my name is Zadkiel, follower of Brass,” the man declared, “And I shall not let you harm any innocents.”

He focused, then shot a blast of fire at the creature's face!

-Gondor-

The cloaked figure breathed deeply, turning to look around. The Bublins were fewer now, and now a new figure in armor appeared, seemingly intent on the girl these others were protecting.

“Just what have I gotten myself into...?” he wondered, frowning.

-Galv and Melanie's House-

“Blake's not in the city,” Galv said, “I'm not sure where he is right now...”

He frowned, glaring at Rica and Kanna. He had never gotten along with Melanie's parents. Kanna even hired assassins to kill him in the past, and Rica...something about the man made Galv's skin itch.

If it hadn't been for his own father, Rica or Kanna probably would have succeeded in killing him back when he met Melanie...

-Sunderland – Graveyard-

Samuel stepped back into the graveyard, walking towards an old mausoleum, where the Cold Iron was held. No vines grew on it's rock walls, no plants alive around it. He opened the door, pushing against it, the stone sliding begrudgingly against the floor.

There, sitting, almost gleaming atop a stone coffin, was the breastplate of the cold iron armor. Samuel stepped forward, almost thinking he could feel it's affects, running his hands over the surface. He picked it up carefully, feeling it's weight. He produced his Bag of Holding, carefully putting the anti-magic item into the magic bag. He grunted slightly at the weight, the cold iron's effects not quite overcoming the magical properties of the bag, but close.

He turned to leave, then froze as the stone coffin behind him began to shake.

With a sudden loud bang, the lid hit the ceiling, bursting through the stone, raining small chunks on Samuel. He turned back, eyes wide as a figure stood up, taking a deep breath.

He appeared male, with bright green eyes and black hair, messy from the unknown amount of time he was trapped. He pulled himself up, wearing a ragged outfit, looking almost half mad.

He laughed, stumbling forward, cackling at Samuel, then flexed his hand, sending Samuel flying backwards with a powerful force, through the wall of the mausoleum, breaking through a gravestone, where he finally landed.

“Finally, I am free!” the figure laughed, fire crackling around his fingers, taking a deep breath and feeling his strength slowly begin to return, “Gallic lives again!”

[Ankh-Morpork]

As the shadows shot at the mysterious man, he suddenly gave out a loud shout in a strange and ancient language. Suddenly a wall of darkness shot up, blocking the shadows and repelling them!

“Foolish girl… Shadows are merely a pale imitation of true Darkness. Let me show you true horror…”

The man suddenly stepped forward, and his skin melted away. His fingers enlongated, and he grew massive nails. His hair vanished, his skin turned blue and slimy, and he grew tentacles out of his face.

It was a Mindflayer.

Ancient and deadly creatures with psychic powers, Mindflayers were seen among the Dark Lord’s armies, though there was little written history about them, since most that fought them perished.

[…]

“… Very well!” Nanami agreed to Zadkiel’s plan. Although it felt strange to ignore the Dragon, given that she was one of the few people in the world best suited to fight a Dragon, she had to stop Maghda.

Nanami jumped to the nearest rooftop and stared at the floating woman.

“Maghda! You have burned countless cities and killed hundreds of people across Eptina! It is time that you pay for your crimes with your life!” Nanami shouted.

“Foolish Dovahkiin… it is too late. The return of the Dark Lord is nigh.” Maghda replied. She raised her hands and sent forth a wave of lightning, but Nanami dodged to the side and jumped at Maghda, sword drawn!

[…]

The dragon was blasted in the face by Zadkiel, and suddenly it shook its head.

“Impotent biped! I am Mirmulnir! I shall devour your bones!”

The Dragon shot towards Zadkiel, spewing flames at him!

[Gondor]

The Bublins who remained had scattered away from the bridge and back towards the wood. Garland stepped forward, his massive sword drawn.

“… Paladins. Did you believe you had eluded me?” Garland growled. He stepped forward, taking a battle stance.

[Galv and Melanie’s House]

Rica merely sighed.

“… The Shadow Triad can find him. Trust me on this one.” He said with a cold chuckle.

[Sunderland: Graveyard]

Arturia rounded the corner, just in time to see a figure rise out of a gravestone. Her eyes widened and she stepped forward, her invisible sword swirling the air around her.

“What in God’s name is going on?” Arturia shouted to Samuel. She was wary, suspicious of what was happening. People rising out of graves was rarely a good thing.

“… Paladins. Did you believe you had eluded me?”

Didymus paused, reflecting the question.

"You know, I think I'd hoped that. Yes, not sure I really THOUGHT that...I suppose I thought we had for the time being, at any rate."

"...I don't suppose it would be useful asking you to back down."

“I can no more back down than you can. You have your purpose, Paladin, and I have mine. The difference is that I shall prove victorious.”

Garland stepped forward and took a defensive posture.

“Plans are already in motion. This age of light is over… the time for darkness to reign supreme is upon us. Those who survive shall do so by embracing this simple truth.” Garland exposited.

“You’re wrong.” Garnet shook her head. “Nothing is over, and life is never so simple.”

Garland simply chuckled. “The naïve optimism of youth is wasted on you, Princess. Now come back home with me… your mother is worried.”

Galv and Melanie’s House

"We don't trust you on anything." Melanie stated, glaring forward "And don't you dare let those shadow things hurt my children"

"They'll be fine Melanie" Kanna said simply.

"Like I trust you..." Melanie shot back. She had parent issues now.

Ankh-Morpork

Elysia was suddenly feeling very stupid about bringing this man here, especially as his skin fell off and revealed a monster. Instantly the girl shot forward, hands sparking dangerously with electricity.

"Hey! Get away from Kyran!" Elysia exclaimed, tossing a ball of raw power at him!

“The Shadow Triad obeys me without question.” Rica explained, turning back to Melanie. “They won’t hurt your children. They have their orders, and they’ll carry them out. Now… you two get ready. We need to leave.”

[Ankh-Morpork]

The Mindflayer held up his hand as Elysia threw a ball of power at him, and the energy stopped in mid-air. A cloud of purplish energy surrounded Elysia’s power, as the Mindflayer took control.

Mindflayers were extremely powerful psychic demons, and among the most dangerous creatures in the world. This one simply tossed Elysia’s powers back at her!

Kyran jumped forward as the Mindflayer threw Elysia's power back! The electricity hit the red headed girl, Kyran sparking from it slightly, then fired a blast of shadows at the Mindflayer!

Like her mother's shadows, they grew stronger when exposed to electricity. Her blast's power was amplified several fold!

Zadkiel held up his hands, manipulating the flames around him, countering the dragon Mirmulnir's flames with his own.

“I believe there is a saying 'fight fire with fire'?” Zadkiel said simply. He darted forward, focusing and producing a short sword from a burst of fire, charging at the dragon and slashing!

As Nanami fought Maghda, two brothers looked up at the fight, and over at the dragon.

“We should probably try and help out...” Jimi said, looking to Hammah, who had a chicken on his head.

“Are you joking? That's a dragon. I'm not fighting a dragon,” Thaddius said from Hammah's head, preening, “I'm not going out there.”

“You don't have to,” Hammah said, “Besides the dragon appears to speak out language...”

“Show off,” Thaddius said, staring at the dragon, “Do you know how long it took me to learn?”

“You fell asleep at the University one night and woke up smart,” Hammah said, “So a night.”

“Details.”

-Galv and Melanie's House-

Galv stepped forward, getting in front of Melanie, glaring at the two. He held up his right hand, electricity sparking in it.

“We don't want you here. We don't want you near our children. Leave, now, or I will fight back,” Galv scowled.

-Gondor-

The cloaked figure looked back and forth between Garland and the Knights with Garnet.

“I doubt these guys kidnapped the girl...They look like Paladins...” he thought to himself, “And I'm getting a bad vibe from this new guy...”

He retracted his shadows, bringing them back in, sighing softly. He couldn't really fight in a stand up battle, at least not now.

“Perhaps I should step back from this,” he said quietly.

-Sunderland: Graveyard-

Gallic laughed as Arturia appeared, the black haired figure looking at the woman.

“God has nothing to do with it,” the figure said, then held up his right hand, fire bursting from it. “Hmmmm, still not quite at full power...”

He grinned, then faced Arturia.

YOL TOOR SHUL!” Gallic yelled, flames bursting at the King!
