Mountainous Area Bombs. They were some of the most dangerous creatures in existence and off-shoots of fire elementals. The primary differences, however, were in their basic constitution. Unlike fire elementals who were born from the purified element of flame, Bombs were speculated to be a living identity imprinted with the element of fire. And they could use their living essence as fuel for self-destruction, which was their ultimate defensive measure. No physical explosive could ever possibly match the force of a detonating Bomb, and only powerful magics could exceed the force produced by a detonating Bomb. However, they did not detonate immediately, for that would be a survival tactic that would have eliminated their species quickly. Instead, the more agitated and damaged they were, the more they ignited their living essence, "inflating" themselves much like expanding balloons until they could achieve a critical reaction in their cores, at which point they shook from the resulting inner detonating as their entire living essence was ignited and turned into fuel for the explosion. Which, in turn, was their biggest weakness. The shaking of a Bomb was an obvious tell for its detonation, and those smart to fight from a distance could take cover and suffer no damage from the blast. ... Unfortunately, Sai had a much crazier plan. "Like hell I'll let someone else have all the FUN!" Sai immediately changed targets. While Zeromus was still the primary target, the appearance of Bombs changed things and made the fighting field that much more dangerous. But at the same time, the Bombs themselves were living explosives, and if detonated close enough to Zeromus, could do significant damage to the beast. The trick was to actually do so without harming themselves. Sai would have only a small window of opportunity during the Bomb's shaking after they were damaged enough, so what could he do to NOT get blasted and get his current employer killed? His thoughts ran a mile a minute as he himself rushed into battle, smashing the nearest Bomb back into its buddies and agitating them even further. How was he going to do it... How... |

[Alexandria Castle] Garnet paused, taking a step back so that she was closer to Didymus. She shuddered a bit, gripping her upper arms. “We… we need to go.” Garnet whispered. The armored figure stepped forward. “You won’t be going anywhere.” He raised his hand, and started to gather flames in his gloved palm… [Mountainous Area] The nearest Bomb roared, and grew nearly three feet, expanding to become larger. It was shaking a bit too, and growling. Gawain took a step back. “Listen to me, both of you… we need to GO! Those things can decimate the entire mountainside!” [Vale Ruins] Felix frowned. Elemental Stars? Ankh-Morpork? This was all getting rather confusing… and dangerous. “Wait,” Felix shook his head. “How are we supposed to do any of this?” [Ankh-Morpork] [Library] Musashi nodded, and then he gave a grin, throwing one arm around Ben’s shoulder and one arm around Jade’s. “Great! Then let’s get going!” [Crime Scene] Nanami looked to Angua and nodded. “Yes. We’ll follow the magical trail. Follow me, I’ll work the device.” |

Mountainous Area Sai's grin just got wider, and a trace of red began to bleed into the silver color of his eyes, as if a dead body was pouring blood over a silver knife. Running right after the bomb, Sai gave it another "love tap" for good measure as he shouted. "That's the entire POINT! If that big guy won't go down to repeated assaults from an enchanted blade, a paladin and a dude with a Cold Iron gauntlet, then he sure as hell will go down with a bomb shoved where his armor's the weakest! You pansies run away, I'll finish this up here!" And right as he smacked the bomb , his other hand flashed out, and a red line appeared in the air, a small red symbol that looked like a capital "I", followed by what could have looked like a capital "F" mixed with a tree, the two lines that face the side in "F" curved upward like branches. "Isa! Fehu!" These two symbols flashed right in front of the bomb... And it stopped shaking. In fact, the bomb actually stopped MOVING. Sai, now completely focused on his insane plan, snapped out one of his arms and GRABBED the bomb, layering magic into his hand to it wouldn't burn. It grew hot, so hot it would blister him quickly, but... It didn't burn his arm off, and that was the plan. Having grabbed the now-still bomb, which looked like someone just froze it in mid-motion, Sai turned right around and rushed towards Zeromus. He ducked and weaved as he ran, trying to avoid any incoming attacks, but a wild blade swing smacked him aside when he was in mid-jump. He blocked it with the solid staff of the hammer, but it was enough to sent him to the side. Growling, Sai leapt off the surface into which he was about to crash, bunching up before his landing and springing just as his legs touched the stone, creating an indent from the force and strength of his leap. He cleared distance almost halfway to Zeromus before he had to clash his hammer with its blade again, knocking it to the side and wasting more precious seconds. The bomb was already shaking in his hand again as he neared the giant beast, jumped up, smacked on the outside of its sword arm to bring it to the side so he could get in close, landed on its shoulder, ran down its back to the open hole... And didn't have the time to actually shove the bomb into the hole of its armor, just enough time to bring it close to said hole before the bomb shook and rumbled as multiple detonations went off inside the beast... "Oh, cr-..." That's all Sai managed to get out, layering his body with reinforcing magic just as the bomb detonated, bathing the area in flame... |

I can't see what you're imagining
|
-Vale Ruins- “That will be up to you,” Alex said, stepping away from the entrance he found. “The Elemental Stars are through here...I have other matters I must attend to, myself...” With that Alex stepped back and seemed to disappear in a flash of Psynergy... -Ankh-Morpork- Crime Scene Angua nodded, heading outside and following Nanami, frowning a little. Vimes seemed to trust this woman, which meant, to Angua, that he considered this girl to be some kind of copper as well. “So what do you know of the perp?” Angua asked, “Any sort of weaknesses?” The Shades Normally a Watchman walking into the Shades was a dead man walking, but when it was Commander Vimes, accompanied by the hulking form of Sergeant Detrius, even the most desperate of scoundrels kept their distance. Soon, the two would come to the hotel where the key went to... The Mended Drum Musashi, Jade, Ben, and The Librarian would soon find themselves at the hive of scum and villainy. The Librarian entered, ooked at a grizzled man with one arm and an eye patch, who nodded back, and then took his usual spot up in the rafters. Also all of the faces in here had a scar. Several had two or more. A couple were more scar then face. They all had weapons, even if you couldn't see them, and unlike many other bars in Ankh-Morpork, this one didn't cater to mostly a single species. There was a dwarf sitting across a troll, the two of them staring angrily at each other. An elf that defied the usual beauty of the species sat in the corner, one of it's ears gone and looking like it might jump someone and take their's to replace it. It was a favorite pub of the Warrior's Guild as well, many of them having the general belief that a good pub fight was good practice, and so usually found itself footing the bill to replace things like broken tables and glasses. The Assassin's Guild “And you want this target...exhumed?” the head of the Assassin's Guild, Lord Downey asked, looking at the sketch. Across from him sat an odd man in armor, with long black hair and an oddly reptilian stare. “Killed, yes,” the man answered, “I will pay most handsomely.” “Ah...well, let's see...I believe we have her on file...Let's see...yes...” Downey said, producing the necessary papers, “Ah, yes, she'd be quite a challenge.” “If you do not think your men are up to it, I will take my business elsewhere,” the man said simply, moving to stand up. “Ah, that's not it. She's just...expensive. Haven't had one this expensive since Vimes or Veternari...” Downey said, “It will cost 1,000,000 AM dollars, you understand...” “Will gold be a satisfactory payment?” the man asked, placing a hefty bag of gold coins on the table. Downey gulped slightly, “Yes, yes, of course. It's customary to pay half up front, then half when the job is done.” “Of course. I will have the rest sent to you before the hour is up,” the man responded, standing up. “Errr...one more matter...we need a name. Your name...or a fake. Just, something for the records...” Downey said carefully. The man smirked, “I see. Yes. My name...Chase Young.” The man stood up and smirked, leaving the picture of Nanami Nomura behind for the Assassins. “Let us test you, Nomura. If you're half as good as I heard, these Assassins will prove no threat to you...But it will lead you to me, eventually...fellow Dragon Born...” -Mountainous Region- Samuel stood and watched, as he liked doing that when people were doing something incredibly suicidal, as he often decided to try it himself again at a later date. Then the bomb exploded, and Samuel bent down, grabbing the ground and keeping himself steady. Sure, it wouldn't kill him, and neither would the fall off the mountain, but it was annoying. |

Alexandria Castle As the man began charging his fireball, Didymus prayed silently, and drew his sword-slowly. It slowly began to faintly glow, until it was glowing completely white-though it was not too bright. "I would like to ask you to please let us go." he simply said. |

[Ankh-Morpork] [The Shades] The hotel was a relatively small place, and in serious disrepair. The windows were barred up, the wooden walls had clear termite damage, and there was an ominous bloodstain on one of the doors. That bloodstain just so happened to be on the door opened by the key. If Vimes stopped to listen, he would hear movement – a kind of rapid scurrying – inside the room. [Streets] Nanami frowned a bit when Angua asked about the perp. Nanami’s mind immediately flashed back to several smaller cities and towns, all of which had burned down. Piles of corpses, blood pools and the screams of the survivors… “Maghda is beyond cruel, and has nothing but contempt for most creatures. She has no love for man or elf, and sees us only as pawns in some twisted scheme. She is an exceptionally powerful sorceress… and a practitioner of Dark Rituals.” Dark Rituals had a nasty reputation, and for good reason. There was no ‘noble’ purpose to them. Most civilized societies banned their practice and study. Nanami, having been taught by the Greybeards, was actually an expert on them. She never preformed them herself, of course, but she knew how to identify them. “As for a weakness… I do not know. I have yet to actually meet her. The one time we have spoken, she sent a false body. I destroyed it with ease, but I believe her true talents and dangers are far greater.” [The Mended Drum] “I hope we don’t end up in a fight.” Musashi frowned, looking around the room. The last time he had been here, a man with a Walrus face had attacked him, and Musashi was forced to cut off his arm. … Oh shut up. [Alexandria Castle] The armored figure nodded. “You are welcome to go, Paladin… but the Princess will be coming with me.” Garnet tensed up. She didn’t like this at all. She did not know the armored man, and she doubted he could be one of Steiner’s knights. The armored figure smirked. “Have at me, if you have the courage!” [Mountainous Area] Gawain had to rush and hide behind a large stone. Samuel might have been impervious to the explosion, and Sai crazy enough to throw a bomb into Zeromus, but Gawain was just a man. … okay, Gawain was one of the most elite knights of Avalon and rivaled even the King when it came to battle, but Bombs are widely feared for good reason. When the Bomb detonated, the explosion was massive! The ground was dug out a good three feet, and Zeromus was totally destroyed. The beast was ripped apart, and all that remained was a charred husk. “Is everyone alright?” Gawain called, jumping up. [Vale Ruins] Felix frowned, and looked over to Isaac. “Well… I guess we should…” He stepped into the chamber… |

Mountainous Area Sai couldn't reply to Gawain for a very, very valid reason. He was, at the very moment, tracing a rather beautiful parabolic arc in the air away from the explosion, his left arm a completely charred husk and his clothing generally absent. The items he wore, however, remained completely undamaged, un-dented and only slightly charred. The actual explosion was something he expected, and he knew it was going to be a big one. Having wandered the world for so long, Sai got used to wiping out various monsters, and his contracts often had him eliminate nests and groups of creatures that normal people couldn't handle, and knights or patrols did not want to waste manpower on. He got REAL proficient at killing many types of creatures. Bombs were in the category. This time, however, he used the bomb for something else entirely. And as he twisted in the air to look at the remains of Zeromus, he grinned at his success. It DID work, and it did more damage than he thought it would. Then again, dropping a bomb into a broken carapace... ... Okay, he needed to stop thinking and get his legs ready for impact. His landing zone, unfortunately, turned out to be a bunch of unstable rubble, and instead of landing properly, Sai crashed into the scattering of rocks and ended up on his back, looking up at the sky. "Well... THAT... Was fun." He slowly sat up, the pain from his arm only now hitting him as he hissed, looking at the charred remains of what used to be a manipulatable limb. A black haze began to pour out of the limb though, interspersed with an occasional purple flash of magic as his internal reserves began to work, accelerating his healing from normal levels to what could be described as rapid regeneration. He'd have his arm back in a day or so. In the meanwhile, he wordlessly drew another symbol in the air, one that looked vaguely like the letter "M", and the hammer he was using previously jumped into the now-open palm of his undamaged arm from the rubble it was knocked into. Then, it disappeared into a warp of space next to Sai as the elf stood. stretching what he could. He was bruised, bloodied, his arm wads useless... And he was sporting a rather bloodthirsty grin. "I should do this more often." |

Alexandria Castle Didymus look portrayed no emotion or change as Garland "transformed". He raised an eyebrow at the man's "threat", though. "Lady Garnet, please stay back..." he said. "...but near. I don't wish to lose track of you in the fight. Find some happy medium of safety and proximity, please." He looked back to Garland. "You really aren't going to back down, I take it? A pity, with so little time to waste." |

[Mountainous Area] “Madness!” Gawain called when Sai stated he should do these things more often. The Knight quickly rushed over to where he had stashed the injured Glenn. The boy looked beaten and bruised, but he was still breathing. Gawain’s eyes turned to Cyrus’ body, but it was gone. The bomb’s explosion had seen to that, destroying what was left of the valiant knight. Gawain frowned, and turned away. “We need to return to Avalon.” He paused, looking to Samuel. “And you, stranger… I thank you for your aid.” [Alexandria Castle] Garnet gasped as Garland reveled himself. She immediately put a hand on Didymus’ shoulder. “Please be careful,” Garnet whispered. “That is Garland… he was once the Captain of the Knights of Pluto, but he betrayed Alexandria and disappeared! He is extremely formidable… they say he was the best swordsman in Alexandria, and a powerful mage as well.” |

Alexandria Castle "Thank you, Lady Garnet." Didymus said. "...now, please, find a happy medium between safety and proximity, it would be most undesirable if you were harmed or taken by guards..." He appeared completely unphased, even after Garnet's warning...there seemed to be an air of...calmness, even Garland may have noticed, that was coming over him. Focus. Something like that. He stood there, sword drawn and now glowing...waiting in silent prayer, at least for a moment more... |

Mountainous Area Sai followed Gawain with a slight limp, glaring at the man that joined them as he passed. "... Put that damn gauntlet away before I rip it off and cave your face in. It's holding up my regeneration, its robbing me of my life, and it most certainly will kill that kid the knight is trying to protect." Without any further word, he walked over to where Cyrus was incinerated, and went to pull out his dagger... But hesitated. Looking at the remains, he fought off the urge to bring back the body, for he doubted that Cyrus would appreciate being re-structured into a full dead body using blood magic. "Hmm. He was powerful, I have to admit. The world weeps for loss of his strength." Bringing one of his hands up, Sai traced a symbol in the air, and Cyrus's remains began to glow softly with red, every last speck of dust that used to belong to his body lifting off the ground along with the charred remains of his armor. "To Avalon, then. You have an ally to mourn and bury, a child to bring back to function, and I have a payday to collect." |

[Alexandria Castle] Garnet took several steps back, but did not run from the hallway. There was nowhere she could run to anyway… she was worried. The news that Garland had returned after his mysterious five year absence was disturbing, and his interest in her only cemented her fears about the spreading darkness in Alexandria. She looked to the Paladin and she worried. She hoped that Avalon would have sent a skilled warrior, but she knew nothing about him. She had no way to guess whether or not he could fight someone like Garland. Garland merely gave a shrug of his shoulders and then he swung his massive sword! It was an oversized blade, far longer and heavier than most swords. That would make it virtually impossible to guard against, since it could be swung with enough force to shatter bone! Of course, with such a massive blade, Garland’s attacks would be slow. He slashed at Didymus! [Mountainous Area] Gawain frowned. He looked to the mysterious man who had aided them… while he was grateful for the help, he was dubious about what this man wanted. He had a Cold Iron Gauntlet… that was worrisome. Cold Iron was known to nullify magic almost completely. It’s effects were legendary, but it was also said to have a sinister side… it was known to degrade health if used for too long. “… Stranger, I thank you for your aid. If you’d like, you may return to Avalon with us and I shall see you are rewarded.” He picked up the unconscious Glenn and headed back towards the portal… |

-Mountainous Region- “Wooooo, that was an experience I don't think I'll forget,” Samuel chuckled, upside down in a tree. He shook himself down, hitting the rubble hard, but then picked himself up. His clothes looked a little burnt and worse for wear, but the man himself looked fine. He removed the cold iron gauntlet, placing it bag into his bag of holding, then turned to Sai and Gawain. “Avalon, eh? Haven't been there in a bit,” Samuel said, “As for a reward, well, I'll just be fine with some new clothes. Name's Hawkins. Samuel Hawkins.” With that, he headed through the portal as well. -Ankh-Morpork- The Shades Sam Vimes stepped back from the door, listening carefully, then turned to Detrius. “Sergeant, open this door.” Detrius saluted, then stepped forward, the troll grabbing the doorknob, then smashing it open! Streets Angua frowned, “I can see why you're determined to hunt her down. She's a monster...” The Watchwoman paused, sniffing the air a little, looking around. “I could send for back up, if you think we might need it,” Angua suggested. The Mended Drum “I don't know, I wouldn't mind kicking the butt of some of these guys,” Jade said as they found a free table, taking a seat, Ben sitting closer to her then usual. Moving around the tables was a girl with long red hair and blue eyes. “Wench! I require another drink!” a very large, tall, muscular man yelled, glaring at the girl. The girl paused, and the temperature in the room dropped, all of the other tables now trying very hard not to be associated with the man. “Excuse me sir, what was that?” the girl asked, turning towards the man with a smile. Despite her words and tone, there was...something in the air about the girl that flashed “danger.” The man seemed to ignore this. “I said, I require another drink!” the man said, “This is your duty!” “You should use better manners, sir,” the girl said. The air dropped a couple more degrees. Ben almost thought he could see his own breath. The man growled, then stood up, flexing his fists, “Damn girl, you must learn your place!” He brought his fists downwards, the red haired girl disappearing in a cloud of shadows, reappearing a few feet to the left. “I'm sorry sir, but I'm going to have to ask you to leave,” the girl frowned. Shadows crept from her feet, moving under the man and then rising up, swallowing him whole. She smiled brightly, the temperature in the room coming back to normal, then she hopped over to Musashi, Ben, and Jade's table. “Sorry about that! My name is Kyran! I can take your order,” the girl smiled brightly. The River Ankh Shadows appeared, and the large man fell through them, landing with a soggy thud in the river. After a few moments of shivering, the man picked himself up and made to the far shore, before he lost his boots to the 'river.' -Vale Ruins- Garet and Jenna followed Felix into through the door. Jenna gasped, looking around. It was a large room, larger then it should be. Above them, something like stars twinkled, and they found themselves on a large stone, several others they could hop to around them. Scattered about were four statues... |
