I can't see what you're imagining
Thousands of years ago species and nations of all kinds united against a common enemy. An encroaching darkness came from the north, lead by a Dark Lord of Many Names. Thousands were slew in the battles, hope becoming a rare resource in the lands.

But then a powerful Dragon came, teaching the Great King of Men and the Great King of Elves the power of the Dragon's Voice.

They rallied their forces, and the two confronted the Dark Lord head on in single combat. With much sacrifice, the Dark Lord was destroyed, his forces either captured or banished.

And with that, peace of a sort settled across the land.

Now, in present day, the nations of Men and Elves have fallen apart into many different lands. Other species claim various parts of the continent for themselves, and Darkness is threatening to rise once more.

In the center of Eptina, a great city has risen, full of various species from across the land. It is known as Ankh-Morpork, a sprawling metropolis. It started as a human city, ruled by a King. One day long ago the King was dethroned, his head cut off by the Captain of the Guard, a man known as Vimes. Since then the country has been ruled by Patricians, and nowadays that Patrician is known as Havelock Vetinari. Under his watch, Ankh-Morpork has grown into an economic super power.

Here is where our story begins, in the city of Ankh-Morpork, where thieves carry licenses, assassins are taught in a school, and the City Watch contains almost any sentient being on the continent...

_Ankh-Morpork_

-Streets-

“Ankh-Morpork...there's a lot of stuff here...” a teenage boy wearing green muttered, a sword strapped to his waist. Next to him was a short girl from Xing, wearing orange, “We could check the University here...”

“Maybe...” the girl, Jade, said, pulling out what looked like a small rock with an odd symbol on it, “I don't want to spend a lot of time with stuffy old wizards, Ben...”

“We can just talk with the Librarian. He's an orangutang,” Ben mentioned. Jade looked to him, raising an eyebrow.

“You're kidding, right?” she asked.

“I'm not. Just be careful not to call him a monkey.”

-Thieves' Guild-

A tall young man with very pale skin looked around the Yard of the Guild. Several places were set up for training.

He was a high ranking Guild member...but he was considering quitting. He had other things to think about, such as his wife and young child.

Cess sighed, rubbing the back of his head. He was an honorable thief, especially so considering Ankh-Morpork...but he didn't want his son to grow up like he did.

Cess shrugged, then headed out to see his wife, Shimera...

-Watch House-

Commander Samuel Vimes slumped over his desk, staring at the paper work. He hated paper work.

He was the Commander of the City Watch, and the descendant of the Vimes who beheaded the last king of the city.

It was almost strange that the long lost descendant of that king was now working in the Watch, under Vimes. Vimes was not a man who appreciated irony, however, so the thought never occurred to him...

-Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary-

Hidden in the city, this legendary group of Assassins, vilified by even the Assassins' Guild, hid. Even Vetinari, the man with eyes everywhere, did not know where they were located.

Inside rested a large stone dragon, eyes glowing red.

“I sense...a Talisman...in the city...” Shendu grumbled, “I must have all twelve back, if I am to return to my full power...”

[Camelot Castle]

In the nation of Avalon, in the Capitol sits the enormous castle of the King. Camelot is said to be one of the most prosperous and powerful cities in the world, and the castle among the most splendid of things built by the hands of Men.

In the tower of Camelot, the young King Arturia looked out the window at her people. She had a heavy heart, and had not slept in several days. A dark dream had filled her mind; worries of the things from the North…

Ankh Morpork

[Streets]

Not far from where Ben and Jade walked down the streets, a pair of local Benders were running very fast, being chased by an angry shopkeep.

“Come back here you stupid thieves!” The shopkeep was screaming, shaking his fist. “No one steals my cabbages!”

The two Benders were running very fast. The first was a girl with brown hair and a green cloak, while the second was a taller boy dressed in red. The girl stomped her foot and created a wall of earth behind him, which the shopkeep smashed into.

“Nice one!” Sama called.

“Naturally!” Kimi replied, and the two ran right past Ben and Jade.

[Thieves’ Guild]

“Where you goin’?”

A blonde girl with swirling green eyes stepped out of the shadows. She was dressed in an orange shirt and green shorts, making it amazing that she could hide at all; but she was actually a very talented thief.

“Don’t tell me you’re actually gonna quit!” Rikku crossed her arms.

[Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary]

Lucien LaChance was one of the… more prominent members of the Dark Brotherhood. A truly evil man, his heart was as corrupt as a human heart could become.

“Lord Shendu,” LaChance stepped into the room with a bow. “How might I serve you?”

Have I mentioned that LaChance has the same voice actor as Burke? So you can imagine where this character will go. XD

An elderly man in blue robes sat upon a throne. It was just another day for the King. Cornelius seemed weary, tired. His wife had died and he, too, was growing closer. He felt his age upon him like a ton of heavy bricks. But it seemed like there would be surprise, yet.

The doors swung open and a man in armor ran in. Lobo, one of his trusted knights. "Sir! Securitry's been breached! They're back! The--" He gasped..slowly falling over. As he hit the floor, it was revealed an arrow had found his head, drawing his life to a quick end. Cornelius stood up and reached for his sword.

Another, old man stepped into the room with a particularly nasty grin. Beside him was an archer and a man garbed in robes, holding a book. Cornelius knew exactly who they were. "The Gra..we made peace with you years ago, wasn't that enough?"

The man in black laughed. "No...no, you removed us from our home lands. We're just here to take them back." King Jiol of Gra turned and pointed. The archer nodded and fired an arrow.

The last thing Cornelius saw was King Jiol walking forward with a maniacal grin. Outside the window were Gra troops, storming through the capitol city. From here, all hell broke loose.

Alexandrian Village

A boy was sitting on top the roof of his small, stone home. He was watching the clouds go by, dazed. The roof had given away to holes, yet again. But he had slacked off in patching it up. Issac was a quiet boy, normally not speaking unless spoken too. He wondered where his friends were. The small village was a quaint place..and yet, one had to wonder what more there was to it.

Camelot Castle

Didymus sighed, standing around, uncertain.

He had been summoned here, but knew not why. It was times like this that his mind wandered, reflected, debated within itself. Times of quiet and patience...

So he stood there, in quiet prayer, reflection, and internal debate, waiting for the reason for his being there to be revealed...

Star Maiden Mountains

Maidenville Library

A young girl was looking through books, searching for a particular spell. This library was no ordinary library, though... well, it more or less was, but it also served as the home of Twilight Sparkle.

As the girl continued searching, a small, reptilian creature walked up to her, carrying another stack of books, and set it down beside her.

This dragon creature asked, "So, Twilight, any luck?"

Twilight sighed and said, "No, not yet, Spike. But it's gotta be around here somewhere!"

Mushroom Land

Segali Cottage

A loud yawn could be heard, as a short, stocky, mustached little man got out of bed, scratching his back and trying to adjust his vision to the bright sunlight peering in through the window.

Although it was the very middle of the day, this was the normal schedule of waking up for Mario Segali and his brother, whom was still snoring in the next bed.

Mario started shaking his brother and said, "Luigi! Get up, bro! We have a big job today at the castle!"

Star Maiden Mountains: Shimera and Cess' House

A long-haired woman yawned. She had spent a good amount of time keeping an eye on her son. Young boys where always a bucket of energy. She smiled, knowing she got that from her. The Star Maiden wished she still had the energy she had before she had Riza. She sat on a chair and relaxed as she watched her son.

But then there was a knock on the door. Shimera got up with a sigh and peeked through the door's window. Her eyes brightened. She smiled and opened the door. "Chryse!" she greeted when she opened the door.

A young woman with her blonde hair in a shoulder-length ponytail gave her sister a large smile and a hug. "Shimera, it's been so long! Where have you been?"

"I've been adventuring! I even met someone," the eldest giggled. "Come in, I want you to meet my son. Cess should be coming home soon, I hope."

The youngest of the two gasped. "You have a son? That's wonderful, congrats!" she squealed.

Shimera nodded. "Yes! He's three years old now...and he took all my energy, I can't keep up with him," she joked.

Chryse laughed. "Boys tend to be that way."

Ankh-Morpork: Streets

A young, teenage girl with light-brown hair and bright blue eyes was just walking. She didn't have to much to do today. Boooring.

With a sigh, KxS kicked a small rock out of her way, then stumbled when two thieves ran past. "Ack! Hey, watch it!" she shouted once she gathered her balance. She mumbled to herself, something about people who never watched where they were going.

"Whatever," she thought. She just continued walking.

[Segali Cottage]

“Rah-Rooh!”

A large green lizard head popped into the window, making a strange sound as it did. The creature was a unique one found only in Mushroom Land, and even then it was rare.

It was called a Yoshi, and they could eat almost anything, even creatures several times their own size and weight, in one gulp! This particular Yoshi was somewhat of a family pet for the Mario Brothers.

Yoshi actually can speak in the language of Men, but he usually prefers to use Yoshi noises.

[Camelot Castle]

“Ah, good day Brother Didymus.”

The door at the end of the hall opened and in walked and older man with a pointed white beard, and a heavily weather-stained cloak that covered a suit of mail. His name was Cidolfus Orlandeu, but most people just knew him as Cid.

He was an Paladin in the Order, but he was also one of the Knights of the Round who served the King. It meant twice as much work, but he also served as a branch between the King and the Church.

He was a bit… unorthodox… and he never quite fit in perfectly with either the Paladins or the Knights, but he was respected nonetheless.

“I’m glad you could come. Today is, I would guess, going to be a very interesting one…” Cid chuckled.

[Alexandrian Village]

“Hey Issac, you daydreaming again?”

Standing over Issac was one of his neighbors and good friends, Felix. He had climbed up onto the roof and looked down to his friend with a grin. Today, there was a sword strapped on Felix’s belt.

“Come on! Let’s go find Garet and Jenna. I have some exciting news.”

Camelot Castle

Didymus regarded Cid as he appeared.

"Elder Cid...good day." he said, in greeting.

He was always approached of Cid-being much more of a hardline traditionalist himself (and his white robe contrasting with Cid's mail and cloak), which actually meant he was often deep in thought about the events, history, and general status of the world...

"...my days are usually interesting, Elder, though I'm afraid not in the good kind of way."

He sighed.

"...maybe I heft a burden that need not be carried, but such is the curse of a thinker."

Isaac opened an eye and smiled. It was Felix. He seemed lively today, which was pleasant. He sat up, brushing hay off his shoulders. He rubbed his eyes, yawned, than got to his feet. "Alright, Felix. Let's go!" He smiled when Felix had mentioned Garet and Jenna. The four had spent their entire life here and were all very close friends.

Mushroom Land

Segali Cottage

Mario looked over toward the window, and petted Yoshi on the head.

"Hey there, boy. We'll take you out for a walk in a bit, but first I gotta get lazypants over there to wake up so that he can get started on breakfast."

Breakfast, he says, as many others would be getting ready for lunch around this hour.

Ankh-Morpork

Street Corner

A shapely teenage girl who wore her hair in a twin set of long pigtails was walking about on the streets, carrying her belongings with her. Her name was Kasumi, and she was here to see about gathering some new parts. She loved to tinker around with armors and weapons, afterall, and Ankh-Morpork had shops with the best stuff on the entire continent.

"Hmmm...", the girl said to herself, "Where should I try my luck?"

Kasumi had never actually been here before, and was a little lost. She was hoping that wouldn't be the case for long, though.

Ankh-Morpork

-Streets-

“Woah, I wonder where they're going...” Jade said as Kimi and Sama raced past them. She didn't have any move to stop them though, but Ben put his hand on the hilt of his sword, tempted to chase after them.

Before he could decide a figure shot past them, wearing the armor of the Watch.

“Halt! You're under arrest!” the figure yelled, a short girl with black hair cut short, leaping over the earthen wall and landing, racing after the two, “Stop and present your Guild memberships!”

I have a feeling Sama and Kimi are not part of the Guild.

“Hey Kxs!”

Jimi appeared by Kxs, watching idly as Kimi and Sama ran past, a Watch Member chasing them, shrugging a bit.

“You look glum. What's up?” he wondered.

“You wanna try your luck, huh!”

A blond haired teenager grinned at Kasumi from the side of the street, a table set up in front of him, three cups sitting on it, a chicken resting on the table by them. The table had a sheet over it, covering it's bottom.

Hammah smiled, picking up a cup and showing a small ball, “Just have to guess where the ball is!”

-Thieves' Guild-

“I got a wife and son to think of now,” Cess told Rikku, frowning a little, “Shimera was never too happy with me being a thief...Thought I'd go straight...Maybe join the Watch or something. Vimes seems to take everyone nowadays...”

-Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary-

“I sense one of my Talismans is in the city...” Shendu said, his eyes glowing red. Magic glowed from him, then showed a portal, an image of Jade walking along the streets with Ben.

“One of these two have it...Bring it to me, at once!”

Mushroom Kingdom

-Segali Cottage-

“Yawwwwnnn...I'mma up, I'mma up...” Luigi muttered, sitting up and rubbing his eyes, “What is it Mario? Is it noon already?”

Alexandria

-Vale-

“Well I'm right here! Not sure where Garet is!” Jenna said, appearing from a hill, walking up to her brother and Isaac, “He might be asleep somewhere...Not sure where...”

Outside the village stood a tall man with blue hair. He paused, then grinned slightly. Yes...this was the place...

Star Maiden Mountains

-Cess and Shimera House-

Riza looked up at Chryse, his aunt, smiling slightly as she came in.

“Hello aunt Chryse!” Riza said brightly, then tugged at his mom, “Mommy, when are we going to see daddy?”

[Mushroom Land – Segali Cottage]

“I want breakfast too!” Yoshi said, this time speaking in the human language. Yoshi can actually speak several languages, but he only ever spoke that way to Mario and Luigi.

Yoshi looked around their house, and he spotted an mushroom on the counter. His tongue shot out, several feet, wrapped around the mushroom and then returned to Yoshi’s mouth, so he could swallow it.

Avalon - Camelot Castle

Cid gave a small smirk, and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. Now they just needed to wait to be led up to the throne room.

“Interesting rarely means good.” Cid nodded. “But you’ll never be given more than you can handle.”

Cid paused, staring out the window, as he saw a horse on the horizon coming towards them.

“… Interesting indeed. Tell me, Didymus, how much do you know about the Great War?”

Alexandria – Vale Village

Felix looked down to Jenna and smiled, waving to her as he jumped off the roof and landing near her.

“Well, let’s find him so we can go. I want to check out the old ruins today.”

[Ankh-Morpork - Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary]

Lucien nodded, bowing low once again.

“Of course, your grace! Of course! I shall dispatch our finest assassins to locate the girl and retrieve your Talisman.”

Lucien quickly headed to another room and as soon as he was away from Shendu his face soured. Shendu was once one of the Generals serving the Dark Lord, but Lucien LaChance worshipped only the true Dark Lord.

Still, for now, he needed Shendu as an ally, so he would play suck up. He quickly dispatched an assassin.

[Ankh-Morpork – Thieve’s Guild]

Rikku suddenly made a gagging sound.

“The Watch? Oh come oooooon Cess! It’s not bad enough you’re gonna abandon the guild, but you’re gonna join the cops? Just bury the knife in my back, why don’tcha?”

[Ankh-Morpork – Streets]

Kimi and Sama came to a screeching halt as the Watchman approached them. Sama looked nervous, but Kimi was as cool as ever as she strutted up to him.

“Guild? Are you implying we’re thieves? We didn’t steal anything!” Kimi replied. “It’s not stealing when you take what belongs to you!”

Sama groaned.

[…]

Along another street corner, a young man with goggles on his head was walking along. His name was Rosario. He looked pretty upbeat as he walked down the road, but he wasn’t paying much attention.

As he rounded the corner, he bumped right into Kasumi, accidentally knocking them both over. Luckily he landed on something soft and bouncy.

“Ugh my head…” Rosario groaned. “Sorry about tha…” He trailed off as he realized what he landed on, and his face turned red. “Ahhhhh! I’m sorry I’m sorry!”

KxS smiled a little at her friend, seeing him come up. "Hey, Jimi," she sighed. "I'm just bored, really. I can't find anything to do."

She looked up to the sky. "I'm just hoping I'll bump into something interesting."

--Star Maiden Mountains--

Cess and Shimera's House

Shimera smiled brightly and held her son's hand. "I don't know, sweetie. Maybe we can go now and meet him half-way to Ankh-Morpork."

"Doesn't sound like a bad plan," Chryse added. "I'd be glad to go with you two."

The older sister gleamed. "Oh, yay! It's been so long since we went anywhere together!"

Chryse giggled. "Then alright, let's get ready to go!"

[Outside Ankh-Morpork]

A few miles outside of Ankh-Morpork, a young woman in very distinct armor was walking towards the city.

She had long, dark hair in a ponytail, and a large katana sword on her belt. The woman’s face was stern and serious as she followed alongside the river Ankh, towards the (in)famous city that was built over the water.

Nanami had traveled a great distance on foot to reach this city. She was following a prophecy that few even remembered. Her mentors, the Graybeards, had taught her and the signs were all around.

Suddenly she heard a noise, and her red eyes darted to the side in time to see two large Orcs and three men step out from the nearby trees. They were all armed with wooden clubs and heavy metal axes.

“Lookit what we ‘ave here… fancy armor your wearing lady…” One of the men sneered.

“Looks expensive. And shiny.” One of the Orcs grunted. “You got money?”

Nanami stared at the five, who had already surrounded her. She was immediately annoyed at this distraction to her quest. In her mind, she was already sizing them up and developing the most efficient plan for neutralizing them if she had to.

“… When was the last time any of your bathed? You won’t get the drop on anyone with a stench that potent.” Nanami frowned to the group.

They actually erupted into gruff laughter, though one of the men sniffed at himself and seemed astonished to learn there was an odor.

“Lady, hand over the money… or maybe we’ll just take your pretty little armor off…” One of the men grinned.
“Maybe we’ll do that anyway…” An Orc grunted.

Nanami sighed. She was annoyed already and running late. Still, she had a code to live by.

“Everyone gets one chance. Back off, and you can live to pillage and plunger another day.” Nanami spat to them.

The lead Orc didn’t seem to like that. He moved forward as if he was going to grab Nanami – there was a silvery flash as she drew her sword and struck, hewing the Orc’s arm off at the elbow.

The Orc cried out in pain. Nanami’s katana blade was shimmering with a light glow, like a quiet white flame. She struck again, and cut the Orc across his belly, sending him sprawling backwards with his insides falling out.

One of the men raised his ax, but Nanami spun around and kicked him in the throat sending him into the river Ankh, just as a third man brought his axe across in a horizontal swipe.

The ax struck Nanami in the small of her back with enough strength that it should have cut her down; but instead the ax seemed to bounce off her armor as a tiny stone being bounced off a castle wall. Nanami spun around and struck with her sword, separating the man’s head from his neck.

She then moved, stabbing the second Orc and killing him with one blow. The last one standing was one of the men, who turned and ran, screaming back into the woods.

Nanami shook her head and sheathed her sword again.

“Annoying…” She headed off towards Ankh-Morpork, in pursuit of prophecy…

Didymus chuckled, but it could be told that that chuckle was somewhat...weary?

"Funny you mention that as I mention the thinker's burden, Elder..."

"...that is one of the things I reflect upon. The stories are told of how dragons appeared to give the words of victory to the leaders in that time when all hope was otherwise lost...I reflect, Elder, on that. I know that all things work together for His glory, but...it's something that has been brought up to me before."

He remained standing, gazing at a portrait.

"...I'm sorry, Elder, but again, that's one of the things that always seems to weigh on my mind."
