I can't see what you're imagining
|
-Flashback- “Ahhh, Ms. Nomura, come in, sit down,” Gallic said, putting on his best smile as Nanami came in, “How have you been? I understand you've been dealing with quite a lot lately. Can I offer you anything?” Gallic waved his hand, Claire appearing from the doorway as well. “Yes sir?” she asked. “Would you be so kind as to get us pot of tea?” Gallic inquired, “Thank you.” “Of course sir,” Claire nodded, turning and leaving the office, closing the door behind her. Gallic turned back to Nanami, “I heard about your mother as well...I'm very sorry about that. She...I'm sure she was a wonderful woman.” |

[Flashback] Nanami did not like Don Gallic, but she did not (yet) have a hatred of him. She took the seat like he instructed, and then looked up at him. “I heard about your mother as well...I'm very sorry about that. She...I'm sure she was a wonderful woman.” Nanami’s eyes snapped up at him and filled with rage. Her mother, who had been ill for years, had passed away while Nanami was in the Games. “She never would have died if the people in the District didn’t live in such poverty.” Nanami said before she could stop herself. |

-Flashback- Gallic stared hard at Nanami as snapped at him, speaking truth to power. A pause, and he chuckled, shaking his head. “You speak your mind...Good,” Gallic said, leaning back in his chair, “I'm going to be blunt here, Ms. Nomura. People like you. What you and your little boyfriend did there, in the Games...People are talking about it so much, even if I wanted to stop it, I couldn't.” He tapped his desk a little, “So I'm going to give you an offer. I want you to work for the Enclave. We could use someone like you. Someone to talk to the public, help quell their fears. To be perfectly blunt, Ms. Nomura...I'm looking for a possible protege...And I see quite a bit of myself in you.” Gallic smiled, leaning forward now, “Of course you have plenty of money from being a Victor. You're set for life there. But I can offer you more...Power, for one. No one you care about will ever have to want or be in danger again. “There are people who want you and your boyfriend dead, Ms. Nomura, for what you did,” Gallic continued, “To me, that would be a terrible waste of talent. If you come to work for me, I can guarantee his and your safety...” |

[Flashback] Nanami frowned as Gallic laid out his reasons for wanting to see her. She wanted to yell at him, to scream and rant and truly express the depth of her disgust with his offer. She wanted to tell him that she would never aid the people behind the Hunger Games, or help the administration that had let her mother and so many other people slowly wallow away their lives in filth and sickness until they ultimately died, alone and heartbroken and fearful for their children. She wanted to call him a bastard, and tell him that the only thing she could ever want from him was to never again see his face or hear his voice… … but Nanami was fifteen years old. Prior to the Hunger Games, she had been a shy, awkward teenager who spent most of her life with her nose buried in a book and no real backbone to speak of. She had not yet become a Rebel Leader who inspired fear in those who she opposed… Right now, she was the one who was afraid. “… No thank you.” She said quietly, looking away from him. |

-Flashback- Gallic frowned, staring at Nanami as she looked away. The door opened, and Claire returned with a tray with a tea pot and a couple cups, along with sugar and milk for the tea. “Thank you Claire,” Gallic said, nodding to the blonde woman, who nodded back and headed out again. When the door closed Gallic fixed himself a cup of tea, taking a sip as he focused back on Nanami. “I do not want you to think I am threatening you, Ms. Nomura,” Gallic said, “People see the Enclave as a single entity, with multiple hands controlling different aspects of everyone's life. In reality it's more like the other way around. Several others trying to do several things. I know for a fact there are those in the Enclave that I can not control who would be glad to see you and your boyfriend dead. “I don't want to see your talents go to waste. I can help you, Ms. Nomura. I can teach you. I can protect you. But if you truly do not want my help, then you are free to go, of course. I want you to be willing to join me. So please...have some tea, take a moment and think about it. You don't have to decide now...my offer will always be open...” |

[Flashback] Nanami sat there, wishing this would be over. She felt cold just being around Gallic… and every time he spoke; it only seemed to get colder in the room. She figured it was her blood freezing as he tried to be charming. It made her stomach turn. “… In the fifth day of the Games, I was lying in a puddle of mud. I had bugs in my hair and I hadn’t eaten since the third day. I was hungry and tired and scared out of my mind. And then I heard… these terrible screams. It was another Tribute, a girl younger than me…” Nanami kept her eyes down, and away from Gallic as she spoke. “… her screams were horrible… it was the worst sound I had ever heard, and still is… she was screaming because she was dying, you see… I don’t know how she died, but I know I heard it all, and it made me wonder if I had died, and if I was in hell, because that kind of screaming is what I imagine hell is like…” Suddenly, Nanami lifted her head up to look at Gallic, meeting his eyes with her’s. “But then I heard the cannon sound… and that’s when I remembered that I wasn’t in hell. I was on television. And so was the girl who had just died. She was on television, all across Panem. The terrible screams that I heard, people all over the Capitol heard… except while I was imagining hell from those screams… those people – YOUR people… were just watching TV.” She narrowed her eyes. “Were you watching it, Mr. President? I have to imagine you were, but even if you weren’t… it was all your doing. You’re the one in charge. You’re the one who allows all of this to go on. So the pain that girl that felt as she died… the pain that all of the Tributes felt… all of that is on you.” Nanami had no idea where this suddenly bravery came from. Her entire body was shaking as she spoke, and somewhere inside her mind a small voice screamed that she should shut up, that he would have her executed for saying all of this… but she could contain it no longer. Since the Games started Nanami wanted to rant at someone… though she had never expect that person to be Don Gallic himself. She never really blamed him before this… but now that he was here talking to her, she did. She had a face to put on all of what had happened. “So I don’t want your tea, and I don’t want your protection.” |

I can't see what you're imagining
|
-Flashback- Gallic was quiet, staring at Nanami. Several thoughts ran through his head. He dismissed most of them for being completely the wrong thing to say. “I can not say I understand you. I have never been in a position where I have wanted for material goods,” Gallic finally said after a few moments of tense silence, “I never truly been in a situation where it was very likely that I would die. But know this, Nanami.” He held up his hand, fire suddenly bursting from his palm, moving around him. Nanami would feel a tug around her, the chair she was on lifted into the air for a few seconds, before being lowered back to the ground. “It is not because of my position. I have power of my own. Despite my power, there are still things I can not do. For now the Games must go on. For now more children must die to feed the egos of those who are stuck in the past and can not look into the future,” Gallic continued, then sighed, leaning back in his chair. “I had high hopes for you, Nanami. It seems you too are focused on what was, rather on what will be,” Gallic said, “You may leave, if you wish...But as I said earlier...my offer will stay open.” |

[Flashback] Nanami gasped aloud in surprise as her chair lifted into the air. She shuddered and for a terrifying moment she believed he was going to kill her. All she could think of was him, the boy she loved, and how much she wanted to see him again. Then she was back on the ground, safe, and to her surprise he did not seem to want to kill her for now. She had spoken her mind uncensored to the President of the Enclave, and she was apparently going to survive. “… That’s it? You’re just going to let me go?” Nanami was too shocked to realize how stupid it was to question it aloud to him. She frowned, and very slowly stood up. Then she made a terrible mistake... she said words that would later haunt her every night. “… Thank you, I guess…” |

-Flashback- “… Thank you, I guess…” “For what, not killing you for speaking your mind?” Gallic said, a small grin on his face, “I'm not the crazed dictator you think I am. I do wish you the best of luck though...” He paused, then pressed a button on his desk, “Claire, will you show Ms. Nomura out?” “Of course Don,” Claire answered, one of the very few people in the Enclave who was on a first name basis with Gallic. The door opened again, Claire appearing and nodding to Nanami. “This way,” Claire said, “Follow me.” |

[Flashback] Nanami frowned. He might not have killed her, and he even sounded like he disliked the Games… but Nanami could not bring herself to like Don Gallic. He was still the President of the Enclave… there was still so much he could do, that he never did… and she had suffered too badly, too recently. She stood up and quickly hurried to follow Claire out. She didn’t like being near Gallic, and didn’t want to spend one more second around him. How ironic that in the present she would (literally) kill to be this close to him. |

Rebellion HQ Chloe shrugged. "Suit yourself. Though I can guarantee it'll be a lot more exciting than sticking around. Either way stay safe, we'll be back soon i'm sure." With that the girl headed towards the convoy, frowning a bit as she noticed Sarai arriving as well. The girl looked different in her new clothes, though it did nothing to make her like the once mute Avox. Chloe then noticed Connor, heading over to him. "Ready miho? Taken care of everything you've needed to?" [...] Melanie didn't seem phased by Nanami's warning. The girl gave a nod and moved away from Jason, leaving the young man alone to take care of the two's mother. Jason sighed, getting ready for the hell he would be receiving from Kanna for this... |

[Convoy] Rica soon appeared next to Melanie. He was dressed in combat armor and carrying a large rifle. He certainly looked ready for a war; and that was basically what was about to happen. “Melanie. Remember to keep your head down when things get bad.” Rica reminded her. Connor looked to Chloe and he nodded. “I guess so… I don’t know if I can ever be ready for this, but… I have to do what I have to do.” Nanami looked around to the group. Nearly everyone was here now, and it was time. “Alright people! Get into the jeeps. The time for talk is over… we’re MOVING OUT. This is it… we’re going to strike the Enclave where it hurts, we’ll save that kid, and we’ll make them regret the Hunger Games ever happened.” |

Convoy “Melanie. Remember to keep your head down when things get bad.” Melanie looked up to the man and gave a slight nod. "Okay" she managed. As Melanie headed onto the jeeps Jason rushed up, stopping Rica for just a second. "Hey! Rica! I know...I know my mom is kinda pissed at you for this...But...Well i'll handle her. Just please protect Melanie. She not cut out for this kind of thing, but she more determined than i've ever seen. Make sure she comes home okay?" Then young man then stepped back. [...] Like everyone else Sarai headed onto the jeeps, keeping an eye on Connor but keeping her distance since he was near Chloe. She tried to focus on herself for the moment, gathering the courage to actually do this. |

[Convoy] Rica paused, and looked over to Jason as he appeared. He nodded. “Keeping Melanie safe is my only concern. It’s the only reason I’m not lying in a ditch drunk out of my mind. I’ll make sure she’s safe.” Rica promised, and then he headed towards the keep behind Melanie. [...] Connor paused, looking around for Sarai. When he finally spotted her, he ran over. “Are you sure about this, Sarai?” He asked her, taking her hand. |

I can't see what you're imagining

-Convoy- Samuel took his seat now, focused now on the mission. He'd save his son, or die trying...And since he didn't die very easily... “We'll save Galv, and protect Melanie,” he added, nodding towards Jason, Rica, and Melanie, “I know we will...” Cess got behind the wheel of one of the cars himself, ready to head off. Hammah got inside a car as well, nervously pressing a few buttons on his Pip Boy... (So I'm cool if you want to just bring everywhere to the Holding Facility, GS or CR, whoever wants to do it. XDX ) -Enclave Holding Facility- Galv found himself brought to a nicer room then the one he had been staying at the past few days. While it was still certainly a cell, it didn't smell, had an actual bed and even a couple books, and the toilet had it's own room. Gallic had expressed to him the want to work together to try and end the Games... Galv sighed, sitting down on the edge of the bed, looking down at the ground. He missed Melanie...and as far as he knew, she had died at the Games still...And he was determined to do whatever damage he could to the Enclave...but if he could help stop the Games somehow...was that more important then revenge? |
