[Vertibirds] Nanami was about to comment on the NCR to Edda, when the radio crackled and in came Cess’ voice. She listened to what he had to say, and then she fell back against the wall of the Vertibird. Melanie and Galv. Nanami had watched them in the Games. Like everyone else who remembered her own turn in the Hunger Games, Nanami had noticed the resemblance. The physical characteristics were striking… and there was even something similar about the way they had acted. Devoted to one another, protecting one another, determined to both survive the Games… [Flashback] “… We’re the last two.” Nanami dropped the blood-covered knife from her hand. The girl’s clothes were caked in dirt, blood and sweat. The Games had been going on for over a week, and Nanami had experienced nothing short of a living hell. A redheaded boy stood in front of her. He was bleeding even worse than she was, but there was a soft, sad smile on his face. “I never expected to live this long… but I knew you could.” The boy smiled at her. He reached forward and tried to brush some of the blood and mud away from Nanami’s face, but his hands were coated in the same liquids and it didn’t help. “… Listen to me… they’ll never let us both win… I’ll use the knife and cut my wrists and you can go hom—” “No.” The boy cut her off. “No… Nanami, either we live together, or we die together. I won’t go without you.” [Vertibirds] Nanami’s eyes were closed, and watering now. “… Copy that, Cess.” She said simply and turned off the radio. [Secret Basement] Rica sighed. “Middle of nowhere? Now you’re reminding me of the Games. Well, I guess it’s better than being dead on a slab. We might as well get walking.” |

Vertibirds The mission was a near success. The tributes who died during the games, were of course, absent..and a couple didn't make it. A few soldiers had been wounded while saving the tributes..among them, Lieutenant Boyd. Boyd lie on a cot, clutching her side. Her beret was lying on the floor, tossed aside. Her armor was torn off, and her fatigues bloody. "Got hit..in the side by..something.." A soldier frowned. "Get a medic! Boyd, you've been relieved of command." He turned, looking for Nanami. "Where's Nanami?" He shouted out among the people aboard. -- Sitting on a bench was Shizuo. He was dirty, but was moreover, perfectly fine. He had ran aboard when he heard the whirr of the copters while he was scavenging junk. He only hoped his partner, Maize, had boarded as well. -- Shipper was panicking. He hated the skies, as anyone who happened to be geokinetic would be. "Aiden?!" He called out. It was a blur when the flying things came down and a man in brown had scooped him up and ran. Where was she? The last thing he heard her say, it was important, wasn't it? This all happened too fast... Radio Tower A voice boomed into the mic, greatly excited. "You've seen it all, folks of the Districts! The Rebellion is back, fighting the good fight!" It was Three Dog. Bet you forgot about him. Me too. "Led by the ol' champ herself, Nanami Nomura, a team of rebels brought down the shields and swooped in with a flock of vertibirds. The games are over, and this year's winner may as well be Nanami, again." He paused for a moment before continuing. "People, now is the time to act. The Enclave have oppressed you for too long. It's time to fight back against the homecoming king, your so-called "President" Gallic and his queen, Colonel Autumn. They've held you under their thumb for too long. And if we work together, this game..will be the last." He paused once more. "People, we'd like to take a minute to remember those who fell in the Arena, the tributes we couldn't save on time." Silence. Three Dog found an old holotape and slid it into the terminal, playing it. 'Amazing Grace,' a prospector told him, was a song that was often played for occasions such as this. The soft melody carried through the airwaves to anyone with a radio. Ranger Station Echo First thing Cole noticed was the mummy-like wrapping around Joshua's flesh. The second thing he noticed was the burned, tortured eyes. He felt a shiver down his spine before summing up the courage to speak. "No, sir. We just..need a bit of information. We think you could provide it..." He gulped, worried about angering the guy. Rumors surrounded Legate Lanius, the Monster of the East. But there were worse rumors surrounding the Burned Man. And Cole didn't want to see those rumors proved right.. |

Rebellion HQ Kanna nodded at Ethan, understanding what he was telling her. Melanie was sure to be in terrible condition upon her arrival, mentally and physically. They would have tread carefully when she was back and help the girl transition back while the rebellion was still going around her. "I'll do fine with her" Kanna said confidently, after all she wasn't going to let anyone else hurt her child once she was back home. And she was pretty sure Rica wouldn't let her out of his sight either. "And i'll protect her too" Jason added. "She won't be in anymore danger. Ha ha yeah right. Vertibirds "If you're with the rebels then why were you in the games?" Chloe asked, clenching her teeth in pain, but still feeling up to ask entirely too many questions. "Shouldn't you have been able to escape it?" |

-Vertibirds- “I wasn't with the Rebels,” Edda said, frowning, “I'm a citizen of the NCR...Look...” He frowned, sighing softly, “My dad is what in the NCR we call a Prospector. He goes out into unsettled lands and tries to find still working old technology. My mom is a doctor as well, so usually she goes with him. A couple months ago, I went with them. We went further east then usual, even past New Vegas.” He paused, then realized that Chloe, Connor, and Sarai wouldn't know what that was, “Well...we ended up close to the Enclave borders. I ran into a squad and they took me, thinking I was someone trying to escape. They found out I was from the NCR, and decided to put me in the Games as like a punishment, telling the NCR not to push so close, I guess...” “Understood, Nanami...” Cess said, signing off, then turned around, towards the soldier looking for Nanami, “She's on another Vertibird, with some Tributes. What do you need?” “Shipper!” Aiden yelled, moving past a soldier and finding him on the Vertibird, pulling him into a hug and then sitting by him. “Someone grabbed me too, thankfully they brought us to the same flying thing...” she said, blushing a little. She didn't know what Vertibirds were called. Maize sat down next to Shizou as well, frowning slightly. She had also made it on the same vertibird as him. “So I suppose the Games have been canceled...” she said, “I wonder how this all happened...” -Rebellion HQ- Old Man Sensei frowned slightly, “It might not be that simple...you see, your daughter, and the boy, Galv...They reminded a lot of people of the two Tributes who helped start this Rebellion...People are going to be looking to them for some kind of sign, a face to talk about for the Rebellion...whether they want it or not...” -Forest- Samuel moved through the forest, looking around, then sighed, rubbing his head, “We can't really go back to Panem...We'll have to find the Rebellion...” He turned towards Rica, “You had connections right? Do you have any idea where they are?” Edited by AGodofIrony, Nov 4 2012, 01:32 AM.

Vertibirds "Oh" Chloe said simply, leaning back in the cot. She was starting to trust the other boy, after all he deserved that much for his help in the games. "How long until we land? I'm getting kinda nauseous" she added, wiping sweat from her brow. She was all around in pain, and a lurching Vetibird wasn't helping. |

[Vertibirds] Nanami was on the Vertibird with the Tributes, but she heard Cess over the radio mentioning her location to someone, and assumed that something was going on, on one of the other Vertibirds. “What’s happening?” She asked over the radio. […] “… The Enclave is really terrible.” Connor said quietly as Edda told his story. The boy had been forced through the horrors of the Hunger Games, all because he had been close to the Enclave border. “Something has to be done…” Connor muttered. [Forest] “Yeah. I know where the Rebels are… but I have no idea where we are. That’s going to make it hard to know where to go.” Rica sighed. This was driving him crazy. He didn’t mind wandering around in a forest for days without food, but he wanted to know if the rescue had worked. He needed to know if Melanie and Galv were alright… “Guess we better start walking.” [Ranger Station Echo] Joshua Graham looked to Cole. He was curious as to why this Courier had come… and he wondered what Caesar had to do with it all. “Information? Is that all. Then go ahead.” He turned and motioned towards one of the tents. He walked towards it, stepping over a dead body as he did. “Sit down and let’s talk.” [Enclave HQ] “WHERE IS CRANE?” General Augustus Autumn was running down the hall in a huff. His face was red, and he had a pistol in his hand. He looked like he was ready to murder someone – and that wasn’t too far off from the truth. The Hunger Games, the tradition that his grandfather had started, had just been interrupted for the first time. The Enclave looked foolish, and that twit Three Dog had been blasting them all over the radio waves. Autumn was furious. |

-Vertibirds- “Boyd's been hurt,” Cess told Nanami, “I think she'll pull through though, but I'm not really a medic...” Cess knew basic first aid, as did most of the Rebellion, but he was more geared towards stealth missions. “I think this is something...” Edda said to Connor, “If the NCR's helping the Rebellion here, even in just a small way...it means someone back home, errr...my home, is interested in taking on the Enclave...” He sighed, leaning back in his seat, “But I don't know if the NCR can do much besides send small things like this...We have other problems to worry about too...” Like the Legion and New Vegas... -Forest- Samuel paused, then reached into a pocket and pulled out a map, stopping and studying it. “Okay...here's the Game Center...” Samuel said, pointing to a building. “We went through that tunnel, say about five hundred feet...” He traced his finger across the map, then stopped, tapping a spot. “We should be here. Not much detail beyond the fence, but can you figure out which direction to go at least?” Samuel asked Rica, showing him the map. -Enclave HQ- “Having a problem with your Games, Mr. Autumn?” Claire stood in the hallway with a few files, looking like her normal slightly annoyed self, staring up at the man. General Autumn was higher in the hierarchy of the Enclave then she was, but she also worked directly for President Gallic. |

[Vertibirds] “Damn it.” Nanami groaned at the news that Boyd was hurt. This could be bad… if the NCR lost an important operative like Boyd, it could jeopardize their help in the future. “Keep her stable. We’ll land as soon as we can.” Nanami replied over the radio. […] “Well, the Rebels are doing something big.” Connor said. “Interrupting the Hunger Games is… unheard of. I’ve never imagined this was possible.” [Forest] Rica looked over the map. “There was an old Rebel Tunnel to the south of us. I’m not sure if it’s still in use… I rarely get to the Rebels personally. Or we can head East, but it’s nearly three time as far, and I don’t feel like being out in the open that long.” [Enclave HQ] Autumn turned to Claire and he narrowed his eyes. “The Games are over! The damn rebels have ruined them! This is the biggest embarrassment the Enclave has ever suffered!” Autumn was practically shouting. He was furious at the Rebel. |

Vertibirds "Yeah big....Big enough for them to want some serious payback." Chloe said, wiping sweat from her brow "This has never happened, i'm sure they're coming after all of us" Sarai bit her lip, leaning against Connor's cot. Chloe had a point, a scary one. But she forced herself to believe that the rebels planned for this, and would handle it. She was tired and didn't want to have to think about running from danger anymore. |

[Vertibirds] “They’ll want payback.” Nanami turned to the Tributes as they spoke. “But we want payback too, and we’re a lot madder than they are. The Hunger Games have been going on for decades, and too many people have died. The Enclave needs to fall.” Nanami walked over towards them and crossed her arms. “They’re coming after us. But we’re going after them too. Mark my words… this will be a sign to people that the Enclave is not as strong as they think. The Enclave will collapse… hopefully soon.” |

-Vertibirds- “You have to do hit and run tactics,” Edda said, thinking it over, “An all out slug fest would wipe the Rebellion out...heck, it would wipe the NCR out...even if we didn't have to worry about the Legion...” He frowned, shaking his head, “I'm not sure if the Enclave or the Legion's worse...” -Forest- “Well, at least we can hole up there for a bit,” Samuel said, “Heck, we're both Victors of a Game, if we can't survive a couple nights in the wilderness that's not actively trying to kill us, well...” He trailed off, then sighed rubbing his head, trying to figure out what to talk about with Rica in the awkward silence. What did they have in common... The Games...no, that wouldn't work. Their kids? Galv and Melanie? No... Kanna? Definitely not. Samuel frowned, then just stayed quiet. -Enclave Prison Facility- Gallic stepped out of the elevator, waving away the two guards in power armor, stepping into the large, concrete area. He walked through it quickly, coming towards a cell. A simple chair was left in front of it, and he took a seat. “So what do I owe the visit?” Pibb asked, sitting across Gallic, inside the cell, “The feed of the Games went down earlier...the Rebels?” “Yes,” Gallic answered simply, “General Autumn didn't see it coming.” “I find it hard you didn't,” Pibb responded, red eyes meeting Gallic's green, “You didn't answer my first question.” Gallic smirked, leaning back in his chair, “Observant still, I see. And I figured the Rebellion would do something, but I didn't know what, or when exactly. Autumn has his head so far up his backside he almost loops back on himself. As for why I'm here...well, can't I visit my old political rival?” Pibb snorted, “Please, don't patronize me. There has to be a reason.” Gallic sighed, “Very well then. I came to say you were right. The Games need to end.” Pibb looked startled now, staring at Gallic, “I doubt you had a change of heart...” “No, simple logistics. The Games are a drain on resources, on people. Those eligible for the Games have less and less kids, terrified of losing them to the Games. Those safe, in the Capitol, have less children as well, not wanting to take time away from their social lives,” Gallic answered, “In a few generations, even the Legion could overrun us, better tech or not.” “But even with that cold blooded look at it, you won't convince any one to do that, not before it's too late,” Pibb said, “Especially not Autumn...” “Exactly...which is why I need...a change in leadership. A shake up, if you will,” Gallic smiled. “Everyone's running around right now, trying to figure out how to save face with what happened. Something might happen...power gets rerouted, a pylon or two turns off for a few minutes...” Pibb frowned. “You want me to...escape? And you think I won't try to kill you?” “Oh, I think you will. You just won't succeed. And not like I'll be here when you somehow miraciously escape. You'll be going to the Rebellion, to find your son. He was in the Games you know.” Pibb froze, eyes going wide, “No...but he was...he was dead...” “Oh no, he was very much alive,” Gallic said, “Well, is, at least when the feed went. I had him put into the Games with that Lavan fellow...I thought it would be fun if they killed each other. Didn't work out that way, but what kind of leader would I be if I couldn't roll with the punches?” Gallic chuckled, standing up now, “Right after dinner. The rest is up to you...” The President of Panem turned and left now, smirking to himself... |

Somewhere in the Arena While the Vertibirds picked up almost everyone, Lavan was putting the finishing touches on his grandiose return. Sure, it wasn't the original plan. He was interrupted from it by a certain... Bastard... and Lavan was STILL fuming about that, it took WAY too long to recover from that fight... But he managed to survive. That was the most important part. Having missed his window of opportunity, he had to drastically change his plan, but the Enclave was moving into the arena big-time, so he could salvage it. The tower and other key locations were still rigged. That was good enough for him. Still, he couldn't help but curse under his breath as another pang of pain shot through his side, the bandaged wound periodically bleeding again as Lavan moved too much for it to heal properly and quickly. He connected the last few wires together into one tight knot, plugged them and covered them with electrical tape, and flipped a switch to his left, a low hum issuing from the converter next to him as the entire system flared to life. He listened for a second for any pre-detonations, but hearing none he let out a sigh of relief. It wouldn't do for him to reveal his surprise yet after all. Another pang of pain shot through his side, echoing in the back of his head and almost setting off another headache as Lavan cursed, rubbing the back of his head again where a rather large lump was left from his fight. "Bastard couldn't hold his blows... Gaaaah! I'm NOT going to think about this anymore!!!" Where was he during all this time? Why was Lavan so hurt, you ask? Well, it all goes back a few days when he met his first, last and only opponent in the games... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Flashback [Arena, Empire State Building] Having set Kimi to her task and having gained a new ally, Lavan began to feverishly finish the central tower's trap. It didn't take him long, most of the tower was all but complete, but some of the chemicals he set to cooking were done only recently and he had to be very careful with the resulting compounds. His secret to making chemical explosives? Heat. His mastery over the element of fire had given him enough control over heat that he would now use it to decompose and recompose materials in a controlled environment. It took too much time to be combat-worthy, and had to be very carefully monitored, but it produced results. Incredible results. Still with access to such high explosives, it was no wonder that Lavan's plan mostly revolved abut blowing things up and setting them on fire. It was a tried and true tactic that proved to be valid every time he tried, and this "plan A" rarely ever failed when it came to results. Even some of the Enclave's heat and detonation-resistant armor failed quite frequently against pre-set chemically-activated high-explosive materials that Lavan had almost constant access to. But that was scientific talk, and Lavan wasn't in the games for science. He was in it... For fun, explosions and messing with people. Three things he liked to do. So it was no wonder that Lavan ended his work day early, finished setting all his pre-cooked high explosives in the various pre-planned spots in the tower, and had enough left over t mine a few other key strategic locations. So, without further ado, as the sun began to get closer to the horizon, Lavan shot out of the towering building and headed for one of the other strategic locations he chose for a bombing site: The metro station. From there, his plan was to hit some of the other important landmarks and key metro locations to topple as vast of a majority of the city as he could in one chain of explosions. That would ruin the landmarks, but he also planned on catching as many Enclave in it (or Gallic, even if he was alone) in the area of detonation, hopefully causing enough of a mess for the Enclave to feel losses. The central metro station planting went off without a hitch, and Lavan continued to work, disabling the few monitoring cameras as he went to make sure the Enclave had very little idea of what exactly he was doing. Tracking the cameras by heat wasn't hard at all, especially for someone who used heat as their primary source of power. Then went one of the junctions... Another skyscraper... And so on, through the night, Lavan continued to work. Unfortunately, his work wasn't quite finished completely, for he was interrupted close to the end-... |

[Vertibirds] “It’s not just hit-and-run tactics.” Nanami shook her head, looking over to Edda. “The Enclave has a severe weakness – and that’s Don Gallic himself. He’s charismatic and well liked within the Enclave, but it’s all about him. He’s a strong leader, but without him the Enclave would be in disarray.” Nanami crossed her arms. “His obvious successor is Autumn, the Peacekeeper General. He’s ill-tempered and doesn’t have the charisma to keep pulling the wool over the Enclave’s eyes. Gallic is what makes the Enclave strong. If we can kill Don Gallic – if we can cut the head from the dragon – then the Enclave will be severely weakened.” [Forest] Rica could only chuckle as they moved through the forest. “Yes… we were both Victors… but I think we both know that we had certain… advantages.” Rica chuckled again, as they set off through the forest. “The Games are a lot easier to win when you don’t have to worry as much about death.” [Flashback] [Skyscraper] Sire was running. After the nasty incident at the bridge, he was in pain and angry. He had been electrocuted and, and he was in a bloodthirsty mood. He wanted to beat someone to death, just because he could. He growled as he came upon a building. He didn’t know if anyone was inside, but Sire’s thought process was simple. If someone was inside, he would kill them and it would make him feel better. If there was no one, he would sleep for a few hours and recover his strength. Sire headed inside, unaware that Lavan was inside… |

Flashback [Skyscraper] Lavan was dancing. He was in a GREAT mood, he didn't meet anyone yet that interfered with him, he busted another two cameras, and he was making some serious progress. Another wall, another explosive slapped on, another trap laid. Another wall, another explosive. A support beam? Another explosive, this time with a bunch of nails embedded into the material to cause as much damage to the supports as possible. With a bright and cheery whistle, Lavan continued to dance, loud music blaring from a portable boombox he found earlier in his venture out of the Empire State Building. Most were broken, but this one only had a few damaged pieces, so the repairs were relatively easy to make. Now, covered in duct tape, the boombox looked more like one of his packs of explosive... Well, it also WAS explosive, but Lavan wasn't planning on using it as such. Yet. With blaring music and cheery whistling, Lavan completely missed Sire's arrival in the same building... |

[Flashback] [Skyscraper] As Sire explored the skyscraper, he heard… music? He had certainly not expected that, but it brought a twisted grin to his face. Sire knew that the music was a sign that someone else was in this building… someone who was not being particularly stealthy. So Sire crept down and started to slowly make his way through the building, towards the source of the music. He stayed as low to the ground as he could, and he moved as silently as was possible. His hands clenched into fists, but he did not reach for the knife on his belt. Soon he rounded a corner and spotted a dancing, giddy redheaded who was carrying around what could have been explosives. Sire knew a thing or two about explosives – he was a demolition expert for the Legion, and had stolen and detonated many of the NCR’s bombs. Sire watched Lavan for a moment… and then he darted forward, suddenly moving quickly and trying to tackle Lavan and throw his hands around his neck! |
