I can't see what you're imagining
-Flashback-

“Across the hall,” Samuel told Kanna, “Not to far from the kid's room...”

He wanted to stay close to his son, in case he needed him.

“There's plenty of room here...” Samuel sighed. It was part of the Victor's Village, and the large house had felt empty for a while. The most it ever had living there was two people. Either Samuel and Levina, or until now, Samuel and Galv.

“If you need anything though Kanna, just ask,” Samuel added.

“It is, but I don't mind sharing,” Galv said quietly, then clambered up on the bed too. He was approaching three years old now, in a couple months.

He sat down on the bed, looking at the crib, “Dad says I'm gonna get a bed like this soon too, since I'm almost three.”

The red haired boy turned to look at Melanie, who was clutching Jason tightly. He smiled at the younger girl, holding out his hand.

“Hello. I'm Galv. Who are you?” he asked politely.

-Rebellion HQ-

“Don't worry, your father will be safe,” Old Man Sensei said, then paused, peering at Colette, “Hold on...something's wrong...”

He approached the girl and bent down...then reached behind her ear, producing a piece of candy.

“Well look at that! Someone hid this behind your ear!” Old Man Sensei laughed, handing it to Colette.

Agoi found himself smiling slightly at the man's antics. For the leader of the Rebellion, he certainly seemed very jovial.

Old Man Sensei then straightened up, turning back to Nanami, “It's doubtful Gallic himself will even show up at the Arena, even if we do dally.”

“I know it is...it has to be...I just...” Erin said, frowning. Walter had said before he'd do whatever he could to protect her...would that include fighting the Enclave itself?

“He...he wouldn't want me going back...” Erin then added quietly, clutching Jason's arm, “I'd just be throwing away his sacrifice...”

-Forest-

Ice flew at the armor wearing warrior, who held up his hands, steam shooting up around him, boiling hot and melting the ice as it flew towards him, turning it into steam as well.

“Seems we have the same ability,” the figure said, then clenched his hands, the steam swirling around in his hands, turning colder and forming shards of ice around him, “Let's see who's better.”

The ice shards flew at Jade!

-Arena-

“"Hey Galv...Back in the games, a couple years back...There was a couple. A girl and a guy who loved each other- what ever happened to them?"

Galv's face fell. Unlike many others, Galv did know more about the outside world and other events, as his father often told him.

“They...both won...” Galv answered, “The Game Makers made a ruling for that Game. But after wards...something bad happened...The guy was killed...”

He didn't add “by the girl.” Galv wasn't entirely sure of the details, but he knew it involved rebels...

“Oh great, a herd dog...” Edda frowned, thinking over their options.

1.Try and fight. Edda dismissed this, as only he and Chloe seemed to have any sort of fighting skills of the four, which meant Connor and Sarai would be liabilities.

2.Run for it. Edda's choice, but it would mean they could herded somewhere, with other traps, or into a dead end, forcing the first option...

3.Split up. With only dog, splitting up might confuse it, but then the Game Makers just might bring out more of them...

4.Some sort of combination of those three...

Edda frowned, then turned to the others.

“Alright, everyone follow me!” Edda yelled, “Hurry!”

He darted off, hurrying down the street, looking for another direction to head in. Maybe they could try doubling back...or find some water, lose the trail...

Grassi smirked. "Power armor...that's more than I can attest to messing with. We have some parts..I managed to get one but I ended up frying a few servos before giving up." He wiped his forehead. "You wouldn't happen to have messed with RobCo goods, would you? I'm beginning to suspect there's a treasure just waiting in the prewar stuff."

Old Man Sensei arrived, then, and addressed them. So it was nearly time to go, huh? There was the sound of a throat clearing, now, directly behind Old Man Sensei. A dark haired woman in NCR armor and wearing a beret stood there and nodded in regards to the group.

"The Colonel sent me to tell you the vertibirds are all in position and ready for take off." Lt. Carrie Boyd spoke up. A MP, she was sent to help Hsu with data analysis.

Arena

Shizuo didn't bat an eye. "You wouldn't kill me." He replied. "You couldn't kill me. We rely on each other. And let's face it. I'm the only friend you have, here." Of course, he may have been referring to rescuing her from the Super Mutants. Not many tributes bothered with the two, knowing each possessed super strength.

"Too early to kill me. Besides, we both know I'm not going to do anything to you. You have no reason to kill me yet. Nope."

---

Shipper tapped his chin. "..hm, you're right. but what if you made other allies!" ..which they did..and hadn't seen in a long time. Some allies.

Outside Cottonwood Cove

After landing and walking, the duo were now outside the cove..predictably. Cole frowned and leaned up against a rock. "Zeke, you know about the Burned Man, right? You've heard the rumors. He's as famous as the Sierra Madre, by now."

Flashback

Kanna nodded, making a note of Samuel's room...She had a bad habit of ending up in bed with guys, she supposed it was just a matter of time. The woman decided to just bite the bullet and propose it now.

Yes, Kanna talks about sleeping with men as if she was just discussing the weather. It was her nature.

"Can I stay in your room?" she asked, raising a brow. While she was several years younger than her husband's friend she wasn't timid. "Just sometimes"

Kanna was a hermit...And a floozy! Mixed signals.

[...]

Melanie stared at the little boy in front of she and Jason, giving a little whimper when the boy extended his hand.

"Her name is Melanie" Jason explained, tightening his grip on his baby sister. "She doesn't talk much yet"

It wasn't that Melanie wasn't very smart of a child, but Jason could only do so much to urge her sister to try using her words. Momma didn't seem to be much of a help, so it was often up to him. The two year old barely even made any sounds...

"It's okay Melanie, you can say hi" Jason urged, taking Melanie's tiny hand and placing it in Galv's. Instantly Melanie stiffened, still looking absolutely terrified. Jason took notice "Don't worry, he's nice"

Arena

"K-Killed?" Melanie asked, eyes wide. "Was it because of their...Their relationship?"

Melanie didn't watch many of the games...It probably would have helped if she had. Instinctively she curled up closer to Galv even though there was a pit forming in her stomach.

[...]

Sarai rushed after Edda, finding it hard to catch her breath as they were being chased by another beast dog. It seemed to be making them run in a specific direction, turning down alleys and through streets...

Rebellion HQ

Colette blinked, looking to the old man as he leaned down and declared something was wrong....He then produced a piece of candy from her ear, a trick that amazed the twelve year old girl. "H-How'd you do that?" she exclaimed, amazed with a large smile.

From her spot Rose couldn't help but to give a little smile.

[...]

"Don't worry, i'm sure he'll be fine" Jason said softly, rubbing her arm. "He looked pretty strong out there...."

Yeah, strong enough to kick his butt.

Connor gasped as the dog-like creature appeared. He turned, still holding Sarai’s arm, and ran as fast as he could.

“C-Come on!” Connor shouted, still gagging from the gas. He rushed after Edda and Chloe, hoping that Edda knew where they were going…

[Rebellion HQ]

“Oh, I don’t know.” Nanami shook her head and leaned against the wall with her shoulder. “I’m hopeful that seeing my return will get Gallic to be more hands on.”

When Boyd arrived, Nanami immediately walked over. Nanami had little love for the NCR. She viewed them as a powerful ‘nation’ that could have challenge the Enclave but did little.

“Good. Then let’s get ready.”

[Outside Cottonwood Cove]

“Oh good. You’re back.”

Nina Natsuko climbed down from the rocks. Next to her were Quo and Nix. Nina smirked and walked up to Cole.

“Did you get what you needed?”

To her own end, Boyd cared little about the rebels. They hadn't been to kind to the NCR soldiers that had come as volunteers to help them, expecting nothing in return, while their nation was losing hundreds to the Legion back in the Mojave and getting cold glares from House.

No, the Rebels didn't understand the issues west and kept telling them to bring the entire army over. Like that would happen. Tandi sympathized with them, and Kimball sent supplies, but the other war hawks didn't want to help until the war in the Mojave was decided.

"I'll radio to the Colonel right away." Boyd told the group before promptly leaving.

Outside Cottonwood

Cole frowned. "No. Caesar isn't being very helpful. He told me he would point me in the right direction if I killed the Burned Man...Joshua Graham."

He paused to let that settle in.

“Gee… the brutal despot isn’t being helpful? Amazing.” Nina let her sarcasm shine through. She crossed her arms. “So… are you going to kill Graham?”

Nina seemed very interested in Cole’s answer.

Cole frowned and scratched his head. "...I don't know. Too many questions about it."

He raised a finger. "First of all, I have no idea where he is. Only rumors he may exist." Another finger. "Second, I have no idea if I could kill him. I mean..being lit afire and tossed into the Divide...if that didn't kill him, how could I?" Another finger. "And then, what if Caesar doesn't live up to his word? He's not the greatest person, we all know that. What if I return just to see him order the Legate to execute me, lash Zeke to cross, and then enslave you girls?"

Cole shook his head. "Ontop of all that, seems like a lot of work. House promised a fortune for the recovery of this chip...enough to live on for the rest of my life. But killing Graham..or even finding him..could take days, maybe a couple weeks."

I can't see what you're imagining
-Flashback-

For a brief moment Samuel thought that Kanna was implying she'd be afraid, but quickly he realized what she actually meant.

He froze, staring at the woman. He hadn't been with anyone since Levina. The thought hadn't even quite occurred to him, too focused on keeping care of his son Galv.

He had to admit, Kanna was attractive. Why should they try and find some comfort...?

PARADOX ALERT, PARADOX ALERT

Samuel shook his head, knowing he was just rationalizing what he knew would be a very stupid decision.

“...I don't think that would be a good idea,” Samuel said, putting his hands on Kanna's shoulders gently, “What kind of message would we be sending the kids? Besides, I don't want you thinking you're doing that to try and repay living here. There's no strings attached.”

Galv frowned a little, but then smiled brightly at Melanie, holding her hand. She felt cold, especially in his warm hand.

He gave it a small squeeze, then let go, and held up his hands.

“Here...watch this, it's cool! My dad says my mom could do it too...” Galv said. His hands began to spark now, electricity crackling in his palms.

-Rebellion HQ-

“Robco?” Agoi asked, raising an eyebrow, “Some, yah. Tech like that was pretty prevalent before the Flare, so the Enclave had a bit of it....”

He paused, then noticed the Pip-Boy on Grassi's arm, “Ohhh...I haven't seen a Pip-Boy though. Heard of them, but never got my hands on one.”

Old Man Sensei grinned at Colette, then tapped his nose, “It's a secret. I can teach you the trick later though.”

He turned back to Nanami and Boyd, nodding to them, “Then you should head out now. Make sure everyone who's going is there. And Nanami...I want you back here. We need you with the Rebellion, not dead on the field.”

Erin just nodded slowly, still not letting go of Jason.

“...Can we go somewhere quiet?” Erin then asked Jason, looking up at him.

Ethan rubbed his chin, looking around as the Rebellion and NCR scrambled about. He then turned to Kanna.

“Are you hungry?” Ethan asked the woman, “We could look for something to eat.”

-Arena-

“...I guess you're right...” Maize said, frowning, “Except about one thing...”

She sat down, pulling some supplies towards her and looking through it, pulling out some food.

“You're not my friend. You're my ally. There's a difference,” Maize said simply, not looking at Shizuo. “Don't forget that.”

“I guess...” Aiden said, thinking it over, “But maybe we should just make sure to stick together!”

She stepped forward towards Shipper and hugged him tightly, “That way we don't have to call for help! We'll just be there to help each other!”

“...I'm not really sure,” Galv answered, and that was true, “I don't know that much...but I know it won't happen with us.”

He smiled at her and hugged her tightly now, “We'll survive, the two of us...We'll get out of here...”

Edda hurried, frowning as they ran down the streets.

“Come on, to the forest!” Edda yelled, not knowing that a trap was being set up there, “We can lose it in the trees!”

He hurried towards Central Park...

-Outside Cottonwood Cove-

“You know, I've been thinking about our next step,” Zeke said, “We know that guy we're looking for moved through Legion territory and made a name for himself...and we know that he wasn't captured or killed by the Legion...”

He grinned at the three, then held out his arms, “So where would you go then, from the New Vegas, to Legion, then where next?”

“...I don't think that would be a good idea,”

Kanna blinked as Samuel placed his hands on her shoulders. She wasn't used to being rejected...She didn't know how to take it.

“What kind of message would we be sending the kids? Besides, I don't want you thinking you're doing that to try and repay living here. There's no strings attached.”

Kanna opened her mouth, ready to counter with the fact that their children were much too young to take notice to such an arrangement, but then Samuel mentioned repayment. The young woman frowned and looked to the side.

"Who said it was just for you?" Kanna said softly. It was true, Kanna often tried to feign off loneliness by spending nights with men. "And anyways all men want something, it's just their nature...Don't tell me you're happy being all by your lonesome for the rest of your life"

[...]

“Here...watch this, it's cool! My dad says my mom could do it too...”

Galv raised his little hands and sparks started to fly from his palms. While Jason looked amazed Melanie gave a cry, rubbing her eyes as hard as she could with her hands. Her cry turned to full blown wailing a moment later, leaving Jason very confused. He tried to move her hands but Melanie wouldn't budge.

"What's wrong Melannnnniiieeee?"

Rebellion HQ

Jason gave a small nod to Erin, leading her away from the crowd to a corner of the room, before collapsing into a nearby chair. He looked to the girl noticing how tense she still was...

"Are you okay?" he asked kindly

[...]

"....Uh sure" Kanna said quietly to Ethan. She couldn't ignore the fact that she was very hungry...She also wanted a drink (though she doubted the group of rebels had a fully stocked liquor cabinet. "Do you think they have a television?" she added suddenly. "I want to check on Melanie..."

Arena

Melanie smiled as Galv hugged her tightly, the warmth making her all tingly. "You sound so sure...But I trust you"

[...]

The group rushed into the park, immediately immersed in overgrown threes and weeks...It was obvious that Central Park hadn't been tended to in many years....The ground was also very moist and muddy, Sarai found her feet sticking in the ground with every step. Luckily Connor was still pulling her along or she surely wouldn't have made it.

They were running right into a trap.

[Rebellion HQ]

Musashi entered the room and looked around at the newcomers. Especially Kanna.

“Is everyone okay? If you need food or medicine, we have some.” Musashi was starring at Kanna, and soon walked over to her with a grin.

Musashi, in other RPs you’ve dated two of her daughters and a granddaughter. Please don’t be creepy right now.

[Arena]

Connor felt his feet slipping on the mud, and as they took to a hill it became too much and Connor fell. He hit the ground and rolled, letting loose of Sarai’s hand as he tumbled down the hill and ended up in a thick patch of overgrown weeds.

“Ugh…” Connor groaned as he tried to sit up.

[Outside Cottonwood Cove]

Nina nodded to Zeke. “Yeah, forget the Burned Man. We need to focus on our real mission, finding the old man.”

Nina seemed rather shifty eyed at the moment. She was… eager to help them find their target.

Shizuo grit his teeth a bit. He breathed in and out, gently. He didn't like being corrected...tended to mess with his temper. "I see no difference. Not right now. Our lives are on the line. I'm the closest...the ONLY ally you have. The only friend you're going to get. Alliances are easy to sever. But let's face it. We're more than that. If you were a mere ally, I'd have let the super mutants make you their dinner."

...he actually had no idea what the Super Mutants would have done, actually. "No, you rely on me and I rely on you. You may be a career, but that doesn't mean you have to act like one."

----

Shipper blushed from her touch. She was so warm! He held her close, as well. "..we're lucky we haven't had to fight anyone, eh? ....I don't think I could handle it." He clutched her, holding her closely. "..hurting someone else..that'll suck..."

Rebellion HQ

Grassi nodded. "Pipboy 3000. At any rate, all we have here is RobCo stuff I managed to snag off of traders. This Pipboy will be a grand instrument against the Enclave...IF I can get it to work to its potential. Imagine it as a mobile computer. With the right adjustments, it could become a great asset." He was, of course, gushing at the thought of it. "But..I'm sure you've had better things to work with, right?"

Boyd nodded at Sensei. "I'll tell him now." She brought a radio up to her mouth, depressing the "talk" button. "Flock, this is the Nest. Do you copy? Over."

A voice replied. "This is the Colonel. What is your status, over."

"The Old Man has given us a green signal, over."

"We will be clear for take off in..uh..fifteen minutes, over."

"Roger." She flipped a few channels. "Sparrow, Hawk, Eagle, and Robin. Do you copy? Over."

"Roger." Came out at intervening times.

"This is the Nest. You have permission for takeoff in T-minus 14 minutes, 30 seconds. Over and out."

Boyd placed the radio away and saluted. "Is there anything else, sir? The Colonel specifically asked for me to report to the launch area, if you were to send anyone with us."

Outside Cottonwood

Cole sighed, shaking his head. "..I don't know. We have some options. We could go check with House and see what he thinks. Or we could do what Caesar asks, head all the way out to New Caanan, and try to murder Graham. We could also look around this area, see if we could find anyone else who may have seen this Old Man."

-Flashback-

“What I want is for my son to grow up safe and happy,” Samuel said, “Other then that...I don't know. I know if it had been me who died, and Levina who lived...well, I'd have wanted her to do whatever would make her happy, even find someone else. Maybe I'll find someone else, I don't know, but right now I'm fine as I am...”

He stared down at Kanna, sighing softly. She really was quite attractive. He removed his hands from her shoulders now. She felt warm too, like Levina...

Samuel shook his head, forcing those memories away.

“If you need someone to talk to though, I'm here for you Kanna,” Samuel added.

Galv stopped his sparking, frowning as Melanie started crying.

“Are you okay?” he asked, poking the girl's shoulder now, being not quite three, “I didn't shock you, did I?”

-Rebellion HQ-

“I'm just...scared...” Erin answered, “Everything's happening so fast...”

She paused, then moved to Jason, sitting on his lap now and curling up on him.

“There's several TVs,” Cess mentioned to Ethan and Kanna, “And we have a kitchen, help yourself.”

Ethan frowned at Musashi as he appeared and stared at Kanna.

“Just point us to the kitchen,” Ethan said, “I can cook her up something.”

He moved a little closer to the woman.

“I mostly fix old junk and things like that, really. I just occasionally get some neat things to tinker with,” Agoi answered Grassi. He paused, then looked at the Pip Boy on his arm.

“Do you have another one? Something like that...what if it's used with a technopath?” he suggested, “They could do a lot...”

-Arena-

“Of course I'm sure...I've never been more sure in my entire life,” Galv said, kissing Melanie once more, “We'll get out of these Games and...and we'll get married!”

He grinned brightly, nodding his head, “How does that sound?”

Kanna's gonna kill Galv. And Rica for starting them doing the romance angle. And Samuel as well for good measure.

Even if two of those guys can't die, Kanna will find a way.

Edda kept going, hoping they'd lose the dog...He had scouted the forest earlier, he knew there were some Mirelurks near the water...but those were just as dangerous at the Mutts...

Connor then fell down a hill, and Edda bit back a curse, coming to a stop.

He turned and pulled out his sword.

“Chloe, it looks like we gotta fight!” Edda yelled.

Maize paused, then turned to Shizuo, growling.

“I am not a Career! How dare you accuse me of being a pitiful person like that!” Maize shouted, “I do not accept gifts from any so called sponsors, I fight with own skill and strength.”

Aiden smiled slightly, lingering in Shipper's arm. She quite liked it...

“I don't want to hurt anyone either...” she said quietly, “I never wanted to burn any one with my fire...”

“Hmmm...” Zeke said, then grinned.

“Let's go talk to the Burned Man. He was Caesar's right hand man before, right? Maybe he'll know where the guy is. Be more willing to deal,” Zeke suggested.

Flashback

Kanna didn't know how to handle rejection. It was a strange feeling to her, something that really didn't happen often (obvious considering her two children). She was used to guys jumping to the occasion the moment she mentioned a casual relationship with no strings attached. Obviously this guy was different...It was strange....But she suppose it made sense when she thought about it.

Samuel was here to protect her. He always had, ever sense he volunteered to take her place in the games when they were younger. Part of her resented his decision (as he ended up winning and securing him a piece of luxury for his whole life) but she was also grateful-

So shouldn't she have been able to display that gratefulness by spending some intimate time with him-Augh! She was doing a terrible job talking herself out of this....He had just said she didn't owe him anything...

“If you need someone to talk to though, I'm here for you Kanna,”

Kanna frowned, wrinkling her nod "I don't want to talk I want to-"

Suddenly Kanna heard Melanie's wails and the mother instantly rushed past Samuel and out the door, heading down the hallway until she spotted Jason who was still tightly clutching little Melanie. Instantly the woman scooped up her youngest child, pushing away the girl's tiny hands so so could see her face. "What happened"

Jason being a seven year old boy who hated getting into trouble instantly pointed at Galv. "He did it! He made sparks with his hands and scared Melanie"

Rebellion HQ

Kanna gave a nod to Ethan, taking a seat nearby and watching him....She then got a shiver down her spine...Her creeper senses were tingling...She noticed Musashi coming over to her and gave a groan. Oh great....Time to crush some kid's heart (Musashi was just some little kid to Kanna. Much like Jason)

Don't do it Musashi! You won't be able to get the taste of floozy out of your mouth!

Arena

Sarai gasped as the grip on her hand loosened and eventually disappeared completely, Connor falling back in the mud and tumbling down a hill. Initally she stumbled forward with the sudden change, but when she gathered her footing the girl turned around , rushing after Connor.

"C-Connor!" Sarai yelled, finding her newfound voice hoarse thanks to the gas. She frantically tore through the weeds to find the boy.

Chloe then turned around, groaning as she noticed Connor was gone from sight and Sarai was rushing in the opposite direction (no doubt after him). "Hold on Edda! Connor's gone!" she called out, knowing the dog was most certainly going to catch up to them and kill them all now.

[...]

"....Married?" Melanie asked, eyes wide as the boy made the declaration. She had never thought of being married to anyone...It was a strange concept. In her whole life her mother had never been married so she didn't know what the difference between their relationship now and later would be.

The girl blushed, looking to the side before speaking. "What happens if we're married?"

Babies. Beautiful sparking babies. Okay other stuff too, LIKE WEDDING CAKE.

Shizuo, oddly for once, kept his calm, breathing in and out. "Don't fool me." He stood up now, balancing himself on his good leg. "You have the skills. The beauty. The charisma. You're a career." He stepped forward, ignoring the pain. "You could be...you could be much more."

He looked up. "And let's face it. You're logical. It's scary. You and I, we'll fight our way to the final two. But by then..I'll be tired...I won't want to fight."

He crossed his arms. "And the champion needs to be someone who has those skills..they leave the arena with their life and are given a new one...and let's face it. Better you than me."

His eyes met her as he grumbled, locking in...feeling fury, yet, knowing what he said was probably true.

---

Shipper rested his head on her shoulder. It was the first contact he had in a long time. He wondered how his family was..if they were watching all of this.

And for the first time in the game, he whispered into her ear. "Aiden..I'm scared."

Rebellion HQ

"Two more. One has a cracked screen and the other has been tampered with. Needs to be reset. Not too much. Got them all off a trader for about six hundred."

Grassi tapped his chin, wondering if he knew a technopath..or was one.. "They say there's a technopath in the games...if only I had a pipboy then, I could have snuck it in to him and we could have seen the effects. I'm willing to bet they could make this Pipboy sing..and they could make it sing to every machine around them."

He chuckled. "I met an old man once. This man, he showed me one pipboy could control robots and turrets all around him...and he told me how it was going to help him crack a grand treasure." Grassi thought for a moment. "Why don't we walk down to the labs for a bit? I'll show you what we have to work with, maybe get an opinion on some things.

Outside Cottonwood

Cole paused, processing what Zeke had said. "Hey, never thought of that. We could go talk to Graham. I'm sure if he knows, he'd be more agreeable than Caesar." He nodded. "Maybe we could hitch a ride with a caravan, make the trip shorter."

Musashi grinned and ran a hand through his hand. Yep, he was going to do it.

He walked over to Kanna, apparently not bothered by the age difference, and he grinned to her.

“If you need… anything… please don’t hesitate to ask.” Musashi offered, taking her hand and kissing it.

[…]

“I’m going with you.” Nanami said to Boyd. Her eyes were narrowed. “Just keep your people out of my way.”

She’s a people person.

[Outside Cottonwood Cove]

Nina frowned.

“If you think that’s the best option… but we need to focus on the Old Man.”

She paused for a moment. “Though if you want to find the Burned Man, there’s no need to go all the way to New Canaan. He’s not there anymore, anyway. He’s a lot closer than Caesar thinks.”

[Arena]

The dog stopped. Autumn had given the order to call it off now that Connor was so close to his punishment. The Colonel intended to hurt the boy for healing and Avox, and Autumn was one of the more twisted people in the Enclave.

Connor groaned as he sat up. His ribs hurt from the fall and he had a feeling he had hurt himself.

“Sarai? Sarai!?” He yelled out, but then he stopped. He saw something overhead. It was a parachute – like the kind that brought gifts to the Tributes from Sponsors. Connor wasn’t sure he had any sponsors, but he was immediately hopeful.

The parachute dropped a large box next to Connor. The boy looked over at it… it was a very big box, and very long. Connor wondered if there could be a weapon inside to use against the dog. He didn’t know if sponsors were even allowed to send weapons.

“What…?”

Connor untied the string and took the top off the box… and immediately the boy screamed and jumped back, his face pale.

… Ever see Seven? Apparently Autumn has.

Connor’s parent’s heads were in the box.
