Grassi pushed up his glasses in awe. If Old Man Sensei had this much pull in the NCR, he wondered what else he could possibly have.

Hsu nodded. "Well, we will need to get a good look at our enemies. Most of our intelligence knows little about the Enclave, other than their sheer size and technological prowess. I'm afraid the brass back home is more focused on the Legion."

He takes a moment to think. "Alright men. Let's set up shop." The other NCR soldiers saluted him and moved about in a whirlwind, moving around supply crates and chattering idly amongst one another and with the rebels.

A letter came out of the envelope. It read:

Sensei,
I hope this squad of men and the accompanying vertibirds are to your satisfaction. But if you get a single scratch on it that wasn't there before, Tandi will have my head. Jokes aside, these men are very skilled at what they do. Use them to their best and be sure to contact me on results. I'm afraid there's nothing more I can do for you. The distance is far too great and we can't spare any more supplies or reinforcements. Give the Enclave hell and send Colonel Autumn my regards.
-Aaron Kimball

Grassi speaks up after a bit of time. "You seen Nanami? We're going to head out and see if we can find a radio tower. Three Dog thinks there's one over the ridge, about ten miles out. Apparently there are some raider groups on the way...but I want Nanami to be the first message. The people recognize her and will be willing to listen to her...give them hope after the 'First Day bloodshed.' He was referring to the mass carnage that normally hung over the first day of the games, when the tributes hadn't quite spread out or well armed themselves.

Freeside

Cole smirks. "Zeke, this is Kuo and this is Nix. Nix, Kuo, this is Zeke. And this is Nina. She's going to be guiding us through the Legionnaire's Land. Any questions? We got everything? Let's not screw around, we need to get moving."

An explosion sounded off in the distance, dynamite of course. Cole decided he wanted to get out of Freeside..could Legionnaire territory really be worse than this poverty stricken part of town?

Staging Area

Shipper blushed a scarlet red color. "Alright! I'll look for a weapon when it starts. I have a skill of being overlooked...is there a weapon you want? I can grab it for you!" Of course, what Aiden might not have noticed was that Shipper simply wanted to impress her.

KxS nodded firmly. "Jimi's smart...I'm sure he'll find us. Maybe he can rescue the others too," she said hopefully.

That would be a really hard thing to do, rescuing everyone from the Games...

Game Center

"Okay..." Shimera sighed. She totally wanted to follow, but Cess needed her to stay put. She understood that not doing so could get them in trouble.

But before he left, she gave him a peck on the cheek. "Good luck," she whispered.

With curiosity satisfied, Lavan nodded, turning solemn for just a few moments.

"Then get ready. There is no doubt that she will need your protection in the near future. There is no doubt that you will have to trust in yourself and your family, and that by the end of the day, things would be turning differently."

He smirked, a small and deadly little smile that could send chills down the back of even the most hardened of people. It was a small smirk that promised chaos, and he wanted to deliver it.

"This time, there will be next to no casualties. This time, I will make sure to piss off Gallic by making this go the wrong way, by turning the cogs into a direction he would never want to approach. So get ready, Enclave soldier. Be ready to defend your sister and your mother."

His smirk turned MALICIOUS.

"Because the stage will soon be bathed in flame."

And with that rather cryptic message, his expression turned devil-may-care yet again.

"Now, do you know when they will give the signal? I wanna go, I wanna go, I wanna goooooooo!"

-Freeside-

“Might as well get this over with...wonder where it'll take us...” Zeke shrugged, checking the ammo in his hand gun.

(Localized time skip for these peeps to get them to Legion territory, perhaps?)

-Rebellion HQ-

Old Man Sensei read the letter, then folded it up and put it into his robes.

“I believe Nanami went on patrol. She shouldn't be far, but she has her bow with her, so try not to look like food,” Old Man Sensei smirked a bit. Even in these situations the old man would joke.

“And Colonel Hsu, you can set up inside if you like. There is a lot of unused space in the bunker, and you can see the start of the Games. Perhaps you might help recognize the area.”

-Game Center-

Cess blushed, giving Shimera another kiss, then disappeared, phasing through the door.

He was invisible, but not inaudible. Thankfully the stealth suit hid his footsteps, and he sneaked quietly through the halls, looking for the center.

The Games would be starting very soon.

-Staging Center-

“Attention. All Tributes and Prisoners must enter their transport tubes in the next two minutes. Those who fail to comply will be punished.”

“Errr, I'm not very good with a weapon...” Aiden frowned, “I guess maybe a staff or something?”

She frowned a bit at the announcement too, heading to the tube.

Galv reached towards Melanie, not saying anything as he took her hand, giving it a soft squeeze.

He got up, leading her softly to the tubes.

“I bet he will,” Hammah smiled, “Jimi's the kind of guy who'd save everyone.”

He then sighed, looking towards the tubes, “I guess we better get in them...”

Walter remained impassive when Lavan mentioned protecting his mother and Erin. He didn't worry about protecting his mother. He knew she could handle herself. As for Erin...it wasn't so much him protecting her from others, but the other way around...

Then the announcement.

“There's your signal,” Walter said, then pointed to the tube. He didn't say good luck. Wasn't in his nature.

-The Capitol-

Gallic stood up, his face on thousands of television screens, smiling. The Enclave broadcast everywhere, even into the NCR, New Vegas, and the Legion, though the Legion didn't have television.

“Citizens of the Enclave!” Gallic said, holding his hands up to cheering, “Today we mark another Game, where the Tributes of the District will battle it out for riches and fame. The winner will forever be marked as a Champion, and be known as the best the District has to offer.”

He smiled, pausing for a moment before continuing, “As with most Games, there are prisoners within the Arena. A Tribute who kills one will win a prize for their family, regardless if they win the Game or not. All our Tributes are ready, and willing to accept the glory of the Games.

“Good luck, young Tributes, and as always...may the odds be ever in your favor...”

The Arena

Once the Tributes were in the tubes, and Gallic announced the Games, they would be raised up, into the large arena.

Once, long ago, all the Tributes would be placed together at the start, with a large number of weapons and supplies in the middle. This made for an exciting start, but shortened the Games considerably. The Games were an experience, and people complained about it.

So a rule was changed, to make it more exciting. Now the Tributes were randomly scattered about the Arena, along with various supplies in different places. The partners stayed together, and often times it was remarkable how often one partner turned on the other right at the start.

Overall, it made the Games a bit longer, more enjoyable, and more of an experience. The audience got to know the Tributes better, watching them as they struggled...

As for the Arena itself...

As the Tributes were lifted into the arena, there were buildings. Skyscrapers, vegetation beginning to reclaim most of it. Old World cars, sitting useless in the streets. Rubble here and there, an extensive subway system. A forest and lake sat in the city as well.

It had taken years to prepare...but these Games would prove to be quite interesting. Creatures, things, roamed the decrepit city.

An old newspaper stand, most of it's contents gone to the ravages of time, seemed to have a single, threadbare shirt left, flapping in a breeze.

It read “I <3 NYC”...

[The Arena]

The ruins of New York City were a scattered and desolate place.

In one decrepit street, the tube rose up, and out came Van and Coral. The two paused, glancing towards one another, and then immediately they rushed down the street, neither saying a word to one another.

[…]

In another area, in what was once Central Park, the tube lifted up and out came Kimi and Shinji.

“Well… here we are.” Shinji said with a smirk.

Kimi had her back to him, her eyes scanning the area.

Shinji immediately jumped forward towards Kimi, throwing an arm around her throat. His other hand was on course to go… elsewhere… when Kimi kicked behind her and hit him… there.

Shinji immediately groaned and fell backwards, and Kimi spun around and punched him in the face. Shinji stumbled again, his nose now bleeding. Kimi advanced towards him, but Shinji threw dirt at her face, blinding her, and then he turned and rushed of.

Kimi growled, trying to get the dirt out of her eyes, and she hurried of in the opposite direction of Shinji.

[…]

Elsewhere, a prisoner was set loose. Like Lavan, he was not officially a tribute.

Unlike Lavan, this prisoner was a member of the Legion. He was a brutal butcher in the service of Caesar, and he had slaughtered countless NCR and Enclave military an civilian personnel.

“… Ha…” Sire grinned as he looked out and smelled the air. “Now this should be fun…”

[Legion Territory]

Out in the midst of a desert landscape, Nina was leading Cole, Zeke, Nix and Kuo out further and further from Vegas. They were now deep in the Nevada landscape.

… So cactuses and sand. Nevada is the most exciting state around! [/Land of my Birth]

“We’re nearing Legion turf.” Nina eventually told them. “Be on full alert.”

"Oh my God..." KxS gaped. She went wide-eyed as she exited the tube. This place was gigantic. Not too different from the Capitol, but it was interesting because it was so...old-age. Either way, the sight was incredible to her.

Sadly, this looked like a place where food will be very hard to come by. KxS bit her lip. "Wow..."

Game Center

Shimera sighed quietly and sat behind some clutter to keep herself hidden in case a janitor came by. She kept an eye on the screen that tracked Cess.

"I hope this doesn't take too long, I'm far too impatient," she thought as she leaned her shoulder against the wall.

Another tube went straight up to the surface, popping up at the southern side of the base of the Empire State Building... Or whatever was left of the structure, for almost half of the structure was reduced to its skeletal framework of metal beams due to lack of upkeep and what looked like weapon damage. The tube appeared on the surface with a hiss and opened, releasing a heat haze...

And a familiar redhead.

Lavan stepped out, rolling his shoulders and testing everything available to him. He was fully stretched, fully limber, and ready to fight at a moment's notice. On top of that, a very familiar energy surged right underneath his skin, marking the end of pylon influence as his own power came back to him.

With heat boiling right under his skin, he decided he had no time to waste. And he MOVED.

If there was one thing that Lavan could never ever lack was physical stamina. Most of his power drew from internal sources, but his power core seemed to be merged closely with his own body, and his powers often augmented his physical abilities to a certain extent. And he was fully rested and full of energy and power...

It took him five minutes flat to reach one of the entrances into the building. It took him another half a minute to get inside and to one of the old elevators. And then, a long wait as the creaking thing moved him all the way to the top of the structure.

Another minute and a half, and he was standing on the very top of the Empire State Building, looking over the metropolis spread around them, grinning.

"... Great! Perfect place to set up shop."

And he shot back into the building, running through room after room, avoiding the rubble as much as he could and gathering materials as he went: wires, old PA system speakers, and anything else he could get his hands on. These buildings had a lot of things remaining in them, you just needed to know where to look to find most anything you would ever need.

Need wires? Old and buster computers often had enough wiring. Needed something for sound? PA system speakers in the walls often did the trick. Needed tools? Security and upkeep areas often had those, and Lavan had no trouble getting into them.

But as he was doing so, he was also looking for something important. By seeking heat running along wires, he could see what was still operational and what wasn't. And as he went, he picked up quite a few still-operational circuits... Which he promptly killed, knowing full well that it also killed any sort of monitoring system Gallic could have had in the building.

So securing the Empire State Building as a big, blank spot, the redhead began the very first stages of his plan...

Gallic wouldn't even know what hit him...

Melanie was used to shaking, considering her shadows kept her colder than most the girl's body made up for it by shivering in attempt to keep warm. But this wasn't shivering...It was full on shaking, caused by the fact that she was being led to what probably would be her death. When the glass came up around her the girl instantly whipped around and slapped her hands on the glass. She looked from Galv to Rica, staring at the older drunk as she descended into....

Well she wasn't sure where exactly they were...It was like an old city, ruins everywhere...But it didn't look like the Capitol. No, wherever they were people hadn't lived for a long time...If ever at all. She supposed that the Gamemakers could have just created it on their own accord.

Either way she didn't like this place. It was dirty, empty, and the air was stale and smoggy. She wrinkled her nose and took a careful step off of her pedestal, suddenly remembering that she wasn't alone here.

She was with all the other tributes. Starting now she was fair game. Now Melanie felt like she was panicking a bit, quickly trying to remember everything Rica and her training had taught her. Instead all she could think about was how much she didn't want to die.

[...]

Chloe stepped onto the cracked pavement, looking around at her new surroundings. Everything looked so bleak, but to her it really didn't matter. This just meant that she would need to kill everyone faster so that she could get home...

The girl looked to her side, noticing Connor....Oh yeah. He was here too.

"You coming lover boy?" Chloe said, heading towards a bunch of old crumbling buildings. "We need to find cover and some weapons. I'd like to get this show on the road as soon as possible"

Spork Residence

"But who knows how long Hammah will be okay for?" Colette protested "I wanna watch the whole thing-"

"Colette don't fight your father" Rose said quietly "He knows best...."

Fancy Hall

Kanna frowned when Samuel mentioned Galv's interest in her daughter, and she opened her mouth to protest-

“I've been trying to pull some strings. Something to get him out...just like I'm assuming you were doing the same for Melanie...But I doubt he'd go if Melanie staid.”

"W-What!? How?!" Kanna exclaimed, eyes wide and moving forward "It's impossible"

Shizuo opened his eyes and looked around. A city. Now this was his kind of environment. He walked out and grabbed a bent up stop sign. Uprooting it from the ground with his strength, he wielded it similar to how one would wield a club. Let the tributes come..

---

Behind KxS, another tribute had arrived. A smile...a chuckle. "Well. Just my luck." Giacomo stood there, crossing his arms. He had been trained in combat in a variety of ways. He was, essentially, a standard issue career. Bloodthirsty and craving honor.

He ran forward now, preparing to swing at her.

---

Shipper had been allocated near a large source of water. He looked down into it. Seemed like he was alone. In the distance, there was an island. Atop it were the ruins of what appeared to be a relic. A statue? He shrugged, not thinking much of it. He looked around the buildings. Yes, he needed a fort. But first, he had to find Aiden.

He stepped down the stairs from his tube and knelt down, feeling the ground, hoping to sense vibrations.

Rebellion HQ

Grassi smiled. Sensei's wit easily exceeded his own.. "Alright. I'm taking a radio. Keep me posted on the games if you can."

He led the armored rebels outward, to find Nanami..and eventually, a beacon.

Hsu nodded. "You heard him, troops. Take the supplies into the hangar. I want everything ready by the 1600 hours." He folds his arms and returned to him. "I'll see if I can identify that arena for you. We have a few Old World maps with us. Kimball thought it would still be accurate for traversing what we believe is Enclave territory."

Of course, Hsu had little doubt the Rebellion wasn't packing their own..

Legion Territory

Cole nodded. Knowing what became of women in the Legion...well, they would have to fight any patrols they came across, he was sure.

Connor looked around and he was amazed. Outside of the Capitol, he had never seen a city before. This one looked like it had once been quite grand… but now the buildings were falling apart, vegetation was growing all around, and there were plenty of old, junked cars on the road.

He was shaken back to his very grim reality by Chloe, and the boy nodded. He peered around, and then noticed one of the extremely tall buildings nearby didn’t seem as badly damaged as the others.

“Maybe there’s something in there? At the very least, if we can get to the roof, we should be able to survey the area for several blocks. Maybe see where others are…” Connor pointed out.

[…]

Elsewhere, near Shipper, something was stirring in the water. It was subtle, just barely rippling the surface; but it was there.

[…]

Coral and Van moved quietly down one of the roads, until Coral noticed something.

“Hey! Look down there. It’s a subway entrance.” Coral pointed out.

“A what?” Van tilted his head.

“A subway… oh nevermind, now isn’t time for a history lesson. The point is we should head down there!”

[Legion Territory]

There was a sudden soft noise, like someone running very quietly.

And then, six men all dressed in strange armor, carrying machetes jumped out from behind a group of rocks and charged at them!

"Anything is better than standing around here like a sitting duck" she said with a shrug, now letting Connor lead the way towards one of the tallest of the buildings...

"So...The Avox cleans up good doesn't she?" Chloe mentioned, deciding to make idle chit chat. It probably wasn't the best topic to bring up but she really didn't care. "Is there some reason she looked like a Capitol poodle?"

-The Arena-

“Melanie!”

Galv called out to Melanie, making his way over to the girl, seeing her not to far off, smiling softly at the girl.

“Come on, let's get out of the open. Maybe into one of these buildings,” Galv suggested to the girl, “We can find a safe place then look for supplies...”

Various weapons, supplies, and more were scattered about the Arena, after all...

“Shiiiiiper, where are you?” Aiden yelled, inside a subway track. It was pitch black, and she held out her hand, fire bursting from it, illuminating the area around her. She frowned, then picked a direction, heading off...

Thunder stared at the Empire State Building. He was tall, a little over six feet, and had dark red hair and eyes. He and his partner had stared at each when they started, then simply turned and walked off in different directions. They neither wanted to fight each other right at the start, nor team up.

So he had walked, staying quiet, any sound he made muffled.

He paused, then headed into the building, keeping his ears open for any sound...

Kxs was being attacked, right off the bat. This was not starting off well.

“Hey, loser!” Hammah yelled, scooping up a rock and throwing it at Giacomo's head. He didn't think this would stop the Career, but he did hope it would switch his attention to him.

“So you're pretty strong, huh?”

Perched on top of a large truck, once used to transport goods throughout the Old World, was Maize, looking down at Shizuo. She grinned a bit at him, then reached down, metal squealing as Maize pulled metal from the top of the truck, making very crude metal gloves, then bashed them together, dropping down in front of him.

Her father had never wanted her to know, but she had figured it out anyways. He had been a former Legionnaire, fleeing the Legion when Maize was born and his wife dying. He hadn't wanted his child taken, forced to become a slave. He stumbled into the Enclave, and was allowed to live.

And now she was in the Games, and Maize had down a lot of research on the Legion. Something like this...winning this...well maybe the Legion would hear, and she could use her new found Enclave officership to go down and kick Legion buttocks.

“Think you can take me?” Maize asked Shizuo, grinning.

-Rebellion HQ-

Old Man Sensei nodded, letting them inside the base, then turned his attention back to the TV, frowning as the Games started.

Already a few Tributes were fighting. He paused, then leaned closer, looking at the Arena, seeing the skyline, a random street sign.

No...It...He knew this place. He had visited this place in when he was younger. He must have just missed the Enclave searching the place.

“I know this place,” Old Man Sensei, then turned to Hsu, “I need a map. Eastern seaboard. Preferably more concentrated in the north eastern section of the former United States.”

-Spork Residence-

Agoi frowned. There was Kxs on the screen, already being attacked...And Hammah...Hammah threw a rock.

It wasn't a very big rock.

“Colette, please honey...You shouldn't be watching this...” Agoi said softly.

-Fancy Party-

“There's a precedent...” Samuel answered, frowning, “If the Enclave thinks that a Tribute would be better use for them alive then dead, they'll take them from the Games. Oh, they'll rig it so it looks like they died, either from a trap or some wild creature, but they take them. Usually it's just for someone who might be a technopath, but sometimes others will be selected...If there's a good reason. And I know someone who also has a personal stake in getting my son out. He's agreed to meet with us...”

KxS turned around when she heard footsteps running toward her. Then Hammah threw a rock. KxS' first thought was to run, but that probably wasn't a good idea with Hammah throwing rocks.

She jumped back quickly and blasted a few balls of solar energy at the opponent, but only enough to force him back a good number of feet so she and Hammah could make a get-away.

Giacomo frowned. The rock had tapped against his head but bounced off harmlessly enough. Still it was enough to piss off the murderous boy. He folded his arms as he looked at Hammah. "I've been keeping it up my sleeve but I've got a bit more endurance than I've let on. You picked a fight with the wrong person. And I cannot wait to spill your blood-" Suddenly pushed away by energy...and it hurt!

Hitting the ground, he grunted..slowly getting back up. "You'll pay for that!"

---

Shipper looked at the bubbling curiously. He stomped the ground, pushing a rock at the bubbling water.

---

Shizuo saw his first opponent. A girl..that Vire girl. Shizuo propped up his makeshift weapon and grit his teeth. Couldn't get mad, wouldn't get mad...

"I don't like fighting girls." He says. "I don't like fighting. I hate violence, even." He smashes the sign on the ground. "Turn around and leave, before we have a problem." There's a reason he's known as the monster of the Districts. People feared his strength. If Maize pushed him, he would retaliate.

Rebellion HQ

Colonel Hsu nodded. He left the room and returned briefly later. He unfolded a large, slightly worn map. Hsu had little indication of where it was, but he felt like the NY on the signs in some parts of the ruins were a bit of a clue. "NY...NY......." He remember the NCR had classes, history classes, teaching students about how the NCR came to be as well as preserving the history of the Old World, or what little they knew.

But what was the NY?

Legion Territory

Cole grits his teeth. Didn't take long for this to happen. He grabs his amp. "Company, guys!" He begins to fire bolts of electricity at them, hoping to peg them down.

In her panic, Melanie had zoned out for a moment. When Galv regarded her it took a moment before she looked back to him and gave a tiny nod. The girl followed a few steps behind Galv, staring at his head.

She could kill him right now. He wouldn't even realize what happened. She could kick him or punch him or shoot shadows at him or something...It would be so easy! Maybe it wouldn't kill him per se but at least knock him out.

And yet she didn't do anything, except follow him like a lost puppy. She didn't want to hurt him...And she sincerely hoped he didn't want her dead secretly or something.

Spork Residence

Colette's eyes were on the screen, wide as saucers. Rose had stopped stroking the girl's hair and was now holding her tightly.

"Hammah don't do that!" Colette yelled at the TV, a look of horror on her small face.

Fancy Party

Fine then, i'll go with you" Kanna said simply.

"Kanna, you alright?"

Kanna turned to see Jason, holding out a glass of wine for his mother. He usually didn't approve of her drinking habit but the occasion called for some liquid courage on her part. The woman took the drink, taking a small sip. "I'll be back in a few minutes, keep talking to people."

Jason eyed Samuel. He trusted the other man, but was just confused.

"Alright....But where are you two going?" He asked.
