Tribute’s Train

Sarai noticed Connor's smile, and gave a little smile herself. She was happy that this place was calming the boy down a bit. While they weren't really allowed to the girl would sometimes come out here to escape work. No one would bother here out here...They probably knew she'd die if she jumped.

Carefully Sarai took Connor's hand again.

"T....r...y.....T...o......H...o....l...d.......O...n......F...o...r........R...e...b...e...l...l...i...o...n...T...h...e E...n...c...l...a...v...e.....I...s...A...f...r...a...i...d..."

Sarai had been hearing things....The Gamemakers were worried thanks to some rumors from the Capital.

-Tribute's Train-

“Hopefully there will be some metal in the area I can use...” Galv said, floating the coins back into his hands, then back into his pockets, “I haven't tried moving really heavy objects before though, but I can shoot small things like coins pretty fast, so that might be a good advantage...”

He paused, then snuggled a little closer to Melanie, enjoying the coolness that came from her, complimenting his warmth.

Against all reason he was starting to actually feel tired.

“Well if there are, I'm sure Shipper can beat them up!” Aiden smiled, looking towards Shipper happily.

“You gotta eat a lot before we go into the Games,” Hammah said, “We don't know how scarce food will be, and that first day can make or break things...”

-Spork Residence-

Jimi blushed a bit of Rose kissed him goodnight, muttering a goodnight back, watching as his mom and dad walked off to bed.

He sighed, pressing his forehead against the window, staring outside.

“I'm coming for both of you. Kxs...Hammah...”

-The Capitol: Holding Center-

Lavan forced Pibb down unto a knee, attempting to force him down unto the ground.

Pibb went with it, bringing his arms up, rolling forward until he shot back up, breathing heavily.

He paused, then made a 'T' with his hands.

“Alright, I think that's enough for now. I'm not as young as I use to be, you know,” Pibb laughed, “Besides, you will need more then training for when the Games start. Anything you gain in fighting now will not benefit you as much, especially focused on a single individual.”

-Rebellion Headquarters-

“Back off Nanami,” Cess said slowly, as Nanami got up and close to Shimera. “Give her some space...”

“Nanami, if what Shimera says is true, you will not be sent on that mission,” Old Man Sensei spoke up, “We need you to help lead the Rebellion in taking the Games. You need to be seen there. I can not send you to the Game Center.”

[Rebellion Headquarters]

Nanami narrowed her eyes now, and she had a cold glare.

“… Now this is a nasty choice… I’d love nothing more than to interrupt the Games and save those poor bastards who are in my old shoes… but Gallic might be at that Game Center.”

The idea of passing up a possible opportunity to end Gallic’s life made Nanami’s stomach turn. It was true that Old Man Sensei wasn’t actually giving her a choice, and as usually there was a deep wisdom in his words and Nanami knew he was right…

… but the idea that she would have to pass up a shot at Gallic made her a little mad.

Nanami punched the wall. When she drew her hand back, her knuckles were bloody.

“… Fine.” She turned and headed off towards her room.

Nanami’s not happy in this RP, is she? XD

[Tribute’s Train]

Connor frowned.

“… I’m glad their afraid… but unless the rebellion happens tonight, I probably won’t see it.”

He gulped, and looked to Sarai.

“I… I don’t know if I can kill anyone… but… but I’m going to try to win…”

Shipper nodded. "I'll protect Aiden until I can't fight anymore! I'm not afraid..oi, I've seen fish that would put up a better fight than some of these tributes." Smiles. Attention, attention, gotta draw attention.

Rebellion HQ

Grassi frowned, having watched the display. "Sigh..Miss Nomura never seems pleased. Don't mind her, Miss Shimera."

He moves forward. "I'm very pleased to hear this though. I think Old Man Sensei will agree with me when we accept you into our little cause and would further agree your usefulness in being a spy. I'm Doctor Michael Grassi, by the way. I'm not a medical doctor though, so I won't be bandaging your boo-boos."

He crosses his arms. "I'm in charge of most things involving technology. Swing by my office sometime and I'll outfit you with a few things. I won't be around tomorrow and won't return for awhile, but until then I'm available."

He returned to silence, allowing the Sensei to speak.

"Of course. I don't want to end up starving first thing," KxS replied. She did hope the food was good, otherwise she'd starve anyway.

Rebellion Headquarters

Shimera just smiled. If Nanami was allowed to go, Shimera would have shown her the way into the Game Center, since she wasn't good at giving directions. But it seems Nanami had to do something else. Oh well!

She just wanted to know if she could be in the Rebellion.

Tribute’s Train

Sarai knew she couldn't say much to make Connor feel better, she she just stared out at the landscape and leaned her head against his shoulder.

She wished they could just jump off the train, somehow escape, and run away. But that would never work. They wouldn't survive...And even if they did they wouldn't survive wandering around the wilderness...Who knows what was out there?

Sarai sighed and rubbed her eyes.

[...]

Melanie blushed a bit, feeling Galv snuggle up to her. She tried to focus on not going red in the face...But it was hard.

"Maybe you can make then move so fast you can use them like bullets" she pondered, twisting a strand of hair around her finger. "Long range attacks will be helpful in the games...."

She then trailed off a bit, before bringing up another topic. "So....Rica......Apparently he thinks he's my dad..."

[...]

Caesar let out a chuckle. It wasn't out of the ordinary for tributes to call each out and speak insults....If nothing else it made the games more interesting!

"Oh really now! You definitely sound confident! Hopefully it'll all pan out well in the games! Anything else you'd like to add?"

-Rebellion Headquarters-

Old Man Sensei sighed, watching as Nanami walked off. He would have to talk with her later.

“Alright...Cess...the mission will be you and Shimera. We simply don't have enough to send...and it's not a mission you'd want a lot of people. It will be information gathering only. No confrontation. Not even if Gallic himself shows up to you on a silver platter. Understand?” Sensei said, looking concerned.

“Understood sir...and oh...there's...something else...” Cess said. He paused, then explained to Old Man Sensei about the Sporks. About Jimi, Kxs, Jimi's family...how they wanted to help, and trying to get Jimi and Kxs free.

Old Man Sensei nodded, “I see...good news and bad, I suppose...”

He stood up now, “I'll have further instructions brought to you later. For now, go with Shimera and work on your plan of infiltration.”

“Right sir...Grassi, let's get Shimera some stealth gear too. Security will be really tight during the Games,” Cess said. Cess already had his own stealth gear, for when he had to work with pylons on...

Old Man Sensei walked along the hallways, stopping outside Nanami's room/ He paused, then knocked on the door.

“Nanami...we need to talk...”

-Tribute's Train-

Aiden paused, thinking.

“No...I don't think there's anything else...I just know the two us will win for sure!” Aiden smiled.

She's going to be devastated.

“They feed us really good food, at least that's what I heard, before the Games,” Hammah said, as they entered the dining car, “I mean, Dad's a really good cook, but he only has so much he can work with.”

Hammah also had another issue with food. He was a vegetarian, and actually had a very hard time stomaching meat. He might not to be able to find edible plants in the Arena...

“I might...I never tried getting them up that fast. Never really got the chance...” Galv said, considering it. Then Melanie mentioned Rica.

“Huh...My dad said he knew your dad...” Galv mentioned, “A man named Kain...well...”

He paused. He couldn't actually remember his father saying that Kain was Melanie's father. Kanna's former husband, an old friend, Jason's father...but never Melanie's father.

“He knew Kain...they were good friends, a long time ago...” Galv continued, “I could try asking him before the Games...he might know something...”

[Rebellion Headquarters]

Nanami’s room was filled with weapons, and maps, and photographs. Almost all of the photos were of Gallic, and almost all of them had been defaced or stabbed. The only photo in the room that was of someone else was of Nanami and a tall redheaded boy, and it sat on her dresser.

Nanami was now standing by a punching bag, hitting it with all of her might. The front of the bag seemed to be covered in frost from where she punched it.

When she heard Old Man Sensei, she frowned, punch the bag once more, and then opened the door.

“I don’t need to talk anymore. I need to take action.” She said flatly.

[Tribute’s Train]

Connor simply sighed and sat next to Sarai, as the train sped by. He was happy right now… at least as happy as he could be.

“Jumping would only kill you.”

Connor gasped as he heard a harsh voice with a southern accent. He looked up, and saw a tall man with gray hair and a Enclave officer’s uniform.

“W-W-We weren’t…” Connor trailed off.

“Shut up, boy. I’ve heard that one of the Tributes was getting… friendly with the staff.” He looked to Sarai. “Why don’t you two come to my room? I’ll tell the Peacekeepers your coming.”

"No problem." Grassi replies, leading them to his lab. "What size does she wear?" He asks. As he enters the door, the lab is horribly cluttered with metal, scrap electronics, and boxes. On Grassi's work bench was a strange, glove-like device meant to be worn up the arm; the front held a screen. There were two knobs on it and a picture of a smiling man. Next to it was Grassi's personal laser rifle and a few energy cells.

Grassi approached one of the crates and inspected it. "Well here we are." He pries it open and pulls out various armor. "We don't have much in here at all, actually."

Tribute's Train

Shipper smiles. "Aye! We've got this game." He tightly grips her hand, feeling slightly nervous now.

New Vegas Strip

Cole had walked around the strip for awhile. He found some rations for the long-haul. Food and water was always important. He then returned to the Lucky 38's doors. He stops in thought, quiet for a moment.

Tribute’s Train

“Jumping would only kill you.”

Sarai jumped and turned around quickly, looking up at one of the Enclave officers. She instantly paled, knowing this wasn't going to end well. When she dropped a plate she was beat within an inch of her life, she couldn't imagine what would happen to her now...

"I’ve heard that one of the Tributes was getting… friendly with the staff.”

...And poor Connor...They couldn't possibly think of a way to punish him worse than the games would.

She was now seriously debating jumping to her death....But she didn't, instead she shakily stood back up and followed the man to his room. She was shaking like a leaf.

[...]

"Well good luck to both of you! May the odd be ever in your favor!"

With that the lights dimmed and the cameras turned off. Caesar then stood up and looked at both teenagers..He couldn't help but to feel a bit sorry for them...They seemed rather innocent, like they had no clue what the games would actually be like...

But perhaps that would help them. Maybe going into the games without fear would set them above the rest.

"Thank you both! And have a wonderful night!" Caesar said with a charming grin.

[...]

"Kain....." Melanie said softly, remembering the name. Jason had mentioned it a few times. He told her the man was their father, but he barely knew anything about the man to tell her...

"Do you think you'll get to talk to your dad again?" she asked quietly, giving a yawn...She was starting to get tired.

[Tribute’s Train]

The Officer quickly led Sarai and Connor back through the train, until he came to his private quarters and he let them in. Connor was standing silent, wishing he had listened to Chloe. He was now deathly afraid that Sarai was going to be punished for this…

No… he wouldn’t let that happen. Maybe he could attack this guy…

“My name is Augustus Autumn. I am the Peacekeeper General.” The Officer introduced himself.

Connor’s eyes widened in horror. Augustus Autumn was one of the leaders of the entire Government! He was the leader of the Army!

“… Now tell me, boy, what makes you so damn bold? You made that comment on the interview with Caesar, and now you’re romancing a Avox? Are you a troublemaker, Jackson? Are you going to make trouble for the Games? Maybe you’re a rebel…” Autumn said in a harsh voice.

“N-No!” Connor stammered. “I just… I just don’t want to die…”

“Who does?” Autumn replied with a foul grin. “No… you’re bolder than you look. You might make for an interesting Tribute. Or I might shoot you in the brain right now.”

Connor stood, frozen in the spot, watching Autumn.

“… Tell you what I’ll do. You seem to like this Avox, huh? Fine… I’ll make a bet with you, boy. If by some chance you win the Hunger Games, I’ll give her to you. But, if you die… I will execute her in a manner to reflect your death.”

Connor paled up.

“That means if you win, you both get life… but if you get yourself shot or burnt or blown up… so will she.”

[New Vegas Strip]

“Hey baby.”

A woman appeared out of the crowd. She wore strange claws on her nails, and a rather revealing outfit. Her hair was in dreads, and she had several tattoos.

“Rumor is some crazy guy is going to Legion country… is that you?”

KxS looked around the dining car and found a place to sit. "I hope it won't be too hard to find food during the Games. There should at least be some edible wild berries."

KxS was quite aware of Hammah's problem with meat. She could eat nothing but steaks and be just fine with it, but poor Hammah would have a tough time finding food if the arena is a very dry or wasted area.

Rebellion Headquarters

"I'm a medium! I would be a small if I wasn't so tall, but Momma always told me I'd grow really ta-OOOH SHINY!" Shimera chattered until she saw the armor.

Shimera loved shiny things. A lot.

-Rebellion Headquarters-

Old Man Sensei frowned, looking up towards Nanami. The girl was considerably taller then him.

“We will be taking action. Very soon, but this time is critical. If you move too soon, it will be as disastrous if you move too late,” he said calmly, “I know, you want to be doing something, anything. But I need you to be at your best. I depend on you. Everyone here depends on you. They see you, still soldiering on despite your past. But you can not let it consume you.”

Cess blushed a bit as Grassi asked what size Shimera wore.

“Ummm, well, we just need some standard gear...I guess about the same size as Nanami...” Cess answered. Like the black haired Nanami, Shimera was quite tall.

He paused, glancing towards Shimera. Her hair...there was a lot of it, and very long. But Shimera had apparently snuck into the center before, without any gear...Maybe he was rubbing off on the girl somehow.

“Something that can hide her hair too,” Cess added. Shimera would probably stab him if he even suggested she cut it.

-Tribute's Train-

Caesar left, and Aiden let out a soft sigh.

“Ohhh, you were very brave Shipper!” Aiden smiled, “I bet you impressed a lot of people!”

“I don't know...probably before the Games start...” Galv sighed, looking down. He was beginning to realize what his dad might be thinking.

His mother, a woman from the Capitol named Levina Tuirill. She and Samuel had met a couple years after Samuel's Game. They fell in love, and they had a kid...two kids...

But...something went wrong during the labor. Galv came through alright, but he had a twin, a sister...apparently neither she nor his mother lived long after the birth. In one fell swoop Samuel had lost the love of his life, and a daughter he never got to know.

And now he would be losing his son...

“But...if not...when you get out of this...can you tell him, for me, that I'm sorry?” Galv asked quietly.

Tribute's Train

Sarai couldn't stop shaking. She was trying to stare at her feet and think of something else but the thought kept coming back to her getting beat upside the head.

But she didn't. It was even worse.

“… Tell you what I’ll do. You seem to like this Avox, huh? Fine… I’ll make a bet with you, boy. If by some chance you win the Hunger Games, I’ll give her to you. But, if you die… I will execute her in a manner to reflect your death.”

For the first time in a long time Sarai attempted to speak without even thinking about the fact that she was without a tongue. Of course it only came out as a pathetic whimper rather than words...

She wanted to beg him not to do this...But what could she really say? She just stood there, shaking like a leaf.

[...]

Melanie frowned and hesitated before giving a little nod "O-Okay....I will" she said quietly. And if for some reason I don't make it back....Tell my brother and mom....That I was thinking about them...."

She felt like she needed to write a will or something....

"Let's stop thinking about dying...What's the first thing we need to do in the games tomorrow?"

“We need to find somewhere we can hole up...preferably with a water source,” Galv answered, thinking it over, “A place we can defend easily. We'll have to scour for supplies as well...a lot of it depends on what the Arena is this year. It's impossible to make any real good plans in advance without knowing...and that's something we won't know until right when it starts...”

He paused, thinking more, “I suppose worst case scenario is a small arena with no cover, in hostile conditions. If that happens, then you keep yourself safe and I'll light everyone else up with lightning before they can react. Let's see them move faster then me...”
