[The Wilds]

Musashi gasped as the Yao Guai appeared. If he had his normal katana strapped to his back, he would be excited about this battle. Musashi LOVED the thrill of battle, and had killed Yao Guai before…

… but right now all he had was a dagger-length knife. He groaned, drew his blade and rushed towards the mutant bear, jumping to the side and trying to slash it!

[Tribute’s Train]

Rica shook his head.

“Don’t decide so quickly. Having an alliance, even a temporary one, could help you out. It means sharing supplies, and less people actively trying to kill you from day one. It’s something that you need to THINK about. I’m not going to tell you what to do, but hasty decisions will get you killed.”

Then he looked to Melanie. “Come with me. We can talk in my room.”

[…]

Connor wanted to say something else, but he realized his mistake. He knew he needed to be quiet, but at the same time, he wanted to explain what he meant. He wanted to tell these greedy, fatpig Capitol viewers that the Tributes didn’t like dying for their entertainment.

… but Connor decided to be quiet.

The Capitol: Holding Area

When attacking with such obvious intent, Lavan figured that the opponent had one of four choices. He could block directly, he could redirect the attack, he could dodge sideways, or he could duck down. For an attack that came to the upper part of the body, those were the most obvious dodging points and actions. So when Pibb's arm went up to redirect Lavan's flying kick, the red-headed boy was ready.

Momentum is a funny thing. If you redirect the front of something that's moving at you with speed and large amounts of inertia, you may avoid the initial strike, but the rest of the body would then follow the previous trajectory. So when Pibb smacked Lavan in the side of the leg lead, the rest of his body simply followed along straight towards the man.

Which Lavan used to grab a grip on Pibb's shirt.

That granted him the required grounding to create a turn radius, but he let one of his hands do a quick switch, which made him turn around as well as curve straight into a downward fall. With the hands locked to Pibb's shirt, Lavan's body went over the man and straight down, bringing him within just an inch of Pibb's back and to the ground where he landed, bunched up like a snake again... And this time, his full body was transferred into a double-palm slam straight to the pit Pibb's back.

It may not hit. For all Lavan knew, the mountain of muscle was completely immune to blows like these. But he was still figuring out what his opponent was capable of, and as the fight progressed, he could see more and more.

Then again, that strike wasn't the end of his string of strikes either...

Tribute’s Train

Melanie knew Rica had a point....After all who was she to say anything against an alliance...She already had one with Shinji....And Galv.....This could prove complicated...

So instead of fighting it the girl followed Rica to his room....Which still had the lingering scent of vodka in it.

"You wanted something?" she asked, taking a seat.

[...]

With the focus off of Connor Chloe was soaking up the spotlight. The girl spoke for a few more minutes, talking about her life at home and how her parents had always hoped she would get to be in the games.

...Which was depressing in all truth...But Chloe didn't seem to care. She smiled and laughed at all of his jokes...

And then as soon as it started it was wrapping up.

"Anything else you two would like to say to the wonderful people of the Capital?"

[Tribute’s Train]

Rica frowned. He walked over to the window and peered out at the country that was zipping by them. He rubbed the back of his neck, and suddenly felt like he needed alcohol.

Lots of alcohol.

“… Yeah… First a question… when is your birthday?” Rica asked.

Now that’s an odd question for the Hunger Games.

[…]

Connor sat silently, until the end, when he decided that he needed to speak.

“… I just hope that the people of the Capitol will enjoy this year’s Games…” Connor said meekly.

Tribute’s Train

Melanie raised a brow...That was a weird question....

"December 22nd" Melanie said carefully, not sure where he was going with it.

[...]

"I'm sure they will!" Caesar said with a grin, deciding that was a good point to end on. Soon enough the cameras were off and everything was being packed up. Sensing the tension Caesar left without many extra words to the tributes...Leaving Connor to face the wrath of Chloe.

The moment they were gone Chloe was on top of the boy....Attempting to punch him in the face.

"You little son-of-a-b*tch! You're gonna effing get us KILLED!" she yelled, attempting to claw his eyes out now. "You want them to chop off your tounge don't you!"

-Tribute's Train-

Galv nodded to Melanie as she left to talk to Rica. He sighed, and started taking off the costume completely, changing back into his normal clothes.

He plopped down on a chair, rubbing his temples softly, trying to figure out just what he was going to do.

Rica did have a point with an Alliance...but Galv was determined to save Melanie. He didn't want to make friends with someone he'd have to kill later. It was one thing to kill strangers (or Shinji), but an ally...Galv didn't think he could do that.

-Spork Residence-

Aboy hurried after Colette, pausing as she saw the TV, Hammah talking to Caesar and doing very well.

“I'm sure Hammah will get a lot of sponsors...” Agoi said, holding his wife again, “And we might have enough spare cash to scrape something together for him as well...”

-The Capitol: Holding Area-

The strike hit Pibb, but it didn't move the mountain of a man, but it did hurt.

Pibb twisted himself around, going for a powerful strike in order to try and hit Lavan before he could duck or dodge, holding his fists together for a blow!

[Tribute’s Train]

Rica paused, and counted backwards on his fingers. After a moment, he groaned and pressed his forehead against the window. That was jus perfect.

“… Melanie… I’ve met your mother, but what about your father? Who is he?” Rica asked, hoping that there was an answer.

… He was actually hoping Kanna was knocking boots with someone else at the same time as him.

[…]

As soon as Chloe jumped on him and punched him in the face, Connor knew that he deserved it. He still fought back, trying to get Chloe off of him.

“It’s TRUE!” Connor yelled back at her. “How can you play to their stupid cameras? The whole idea makes me sick. The whole idea of sponsors makes me want to throw up. I don’t want anything to do with those sick demented people who love watching children kill each other!”

"Alright. You place a bid. Then you take some cards, build a deck.." He trails off in explanation. Explaining this game in words is difficult. He shrugs. "How about we just play go fish?"

New Vegas

Cole chuckles. "Used to live there? We're talking about that nutty Enclave place, right? No wonder he left." He shakes his head. "Yeah. Legion territory. It isn't safe, so if I were you I'd go visit the Gunrunner's or Van Graff's and pick up a few weapons."

He looked around. "Well, we need to find that guy and get the package back. House is pretty adamant. But I don't think it'd be wise to go into Legion territory, just the two of us. I think we could see about hiring a merc or two while we're here. Extra protection?" He sighs. "All I know is, there are a whole lot more of them than there are of us..and that's without mentioning the monster rumored to lurk around."

He looks up to the high 38 now. "Or we could go in, undercover. But that would be difficult. I don't know a damn thing about Legion society...then we have to consider how we'd pick up his trail. What if he didn't leave anything noteworthy there? This is undoubtedly one of the hardest deliveries I'm going to have to make. You sure you're up to it, Zeke?"

"Of course it's wrong! Of course it's disgusting and horrible and shouldn't happen! But if you want to actually SURVIVE this disgusting horrible totally wrong situation then you're going to have to SUCK IT UP AND PRETEND YOU LIKE BEING HERE!"

Chloe tried to claw at him a couple more times before she stopped. She was still on top of him, breathing heavily.....A moment later she rolled off of him and glared at the wall. "I don't know about you but I don't want to die here...And I don't want my family to have to suffer for some stupid words that my so called partner said on national television. "

[...]

Melanie went silent for a moment, frowning. She didn't know why he wanted to know about her private life...

"I didn't know my dad. My mom said he was a drunk deadbeat bum who left before I was born" she answered

hahahahha.

Spork Residence

"....Why is he so happy about being there?" Colette asked

Rose instantly turned to see her daughter at the top of the steps, staring at the television. The woman frowned getting up "Colette you shouldn't be in here....Go to bed darling...."

Pibb spun about to attempt to clock Lavan, and his hands were right at head height to do so. However, it takes a lot more time for someone bigger to spin around completely, no matter how fast they try to do so.

Nonetheless, it was much faster than Lavan anticipated, and he ducked just barely in time to keep his head. That particular blow would have sent him reeling... Or broken his neck. He wasn't exactly fond of either outcome, so he managed to get out of the way, but even then he could feel the incoming fist and arm swing within just a few millimeters from his skin.

However, he was now fully under Pibb's arm and guard, and that gave him and his smaller profile a rather credible advantage.

Now, it was time to... Not waste time and hit. His fist swung out, one arm following the other in a staccato of four rapid blows to the ribs. He wasn't expecting them to do anything whatsoever, the man was a mountain of defense and muscle that could probably take that sort of less-than-mediocre blows in his sleep and not even notice them.

It was more for the actual speed of the strikes that Lavan was going for. That and the reflexive human nature to attempt to protect themselves from attacks, no matter how light.

But if that didn't happen, then he had another plan. Thankfully. Last time he tried this sort of fighting, his gambit failed and... Well, he ended up in a very compromising position including a head vice, a bottle of shampoo, a one armed midget and an albatross carrying a wet paper bag.

He didn't exactly care to repeat that mistake again.

[Tribute’s Train]

Connor fell silent, and eventually he even stopped trying to defend himself. He hadn’t even thought of it that way.

“… I’m sorry.” Connor said, frowning. “I… I didn’t think about it that way… I didn’t realize they would take it out on you or your family…”

Connor bit his lip. “I… I just… if I have to die here, fine… but… I don’t want to die pretending like it’s an honor.”

[…]

Rica groaned. Kanna… that…

Well, she was 100% accurate. Rica suddenly wished he was drunk and this whole thing was just a hallucination brought on by alcohol poisoning.

“… ‘Left’, huh? Hmph. Being chosen for the Hunger Games isn’t exactly the same as ‘leaving’.”

Rica turned to Melanie.

“… I think… I’m your father.”

"Augh, it looks so...gross!" Shimera exclaimed as she stepped back. She thought that maybe saying that to a zombie bear would make it more angry than it already is, but duh, bears can't understand human-speak.

As Musashi attacked the beast with his dagger, Shimera charged a ball of plasma in her hands that could, at any time, become a solar beam. She had to be careful, the trees were blocking a lot of sunlight and she could run out of energy very quickly.

Tribute's Train

Hammah had made a good point, having the Games in a God-forsaken desert would be the worst "entertainment" there was. The more KxS thought about how the Hunger Games was for people in their homes to enjoy, the more she disliked the human race.

But she couldn't let herself get angry, not now. She had to keep calm and think of other things, like Jimi.

"Yeah, Jimi...that's a better subject."

"They won't just hurt my family, anyone you care about will be affected just as much..." Chloe said, punching the boy once more before standing up. "These people are smarter than you think...You think they don't know about your little mute friend?"

As if on cue Sarai peeked into the room, knocking lightly. She was now holding a tray of breads and jams as well as two cups of cocoa. She kept her eyes on the floor...

[...]

Melanie was silent for a moment...Just looking up at Rica as if she was judging whether or not what he was saying could possibly be true.....He did look like her...But black hair and pale skin were two very common traits.

Well her mom had said that her father was a drunkard....But not THIS drunkard!

"Your lying. There's no way...." she said carefully taking a step back. "I always assumed my dad was dead...If he...You were alive why didn't she say anything?"

Connor was now extremely quiet, looking down at his feet. He felt horrible. He had screwed up, and probably gotten a target put on his back… but deep down in his stomach, he stood by what he said.

When he noticed Sarai, his face fell, and he rubbed his neck.

“I’m sorry Chloe. I’m really sorry.” Connor said, rubbing his neck. Then he looked over to Sarai and walked over to her.

“Um… hi.”

[…]

“… I’m not lying. I’m not POSITIVE, mind you, but… if you were born in late December, then the timeline adds up…” Rica muttered, shaking his head. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to say.”

He shook his head and leaned against the wall.

“… I just thought I should say something, all things considered…” Rica muttered irritably.

Connor looked up at the boy, giving a tiny smile and motioning to the bread and hot cocoa. She couldn't say it, but it was pretty obvious the food was for he and Chloe.

"I'll leave you two to...Whatever" Chloe said, rolling her eyes at the two and stepping past. "I'll see you in the morning...Just think before you do anything stupid." she added before disappearing...

This left Sarai and Connor alone, the girl letting out a tiny breath.

Sarai motioned back to the food and drinks....

[...]

"What? Did you need to get the possibility out there before I die?" Melanie said, keeping her distance. Father or not he still smelled like booze. "If you are my dad, where were you?"

Always a good question....
