[The Capitol]

After that last burst, Lavan had nothing left. Every trick exhausted. Every ability used. Every tool destroyed. Every little dreg of power gone. He felt like he went through the meat grinder a few times, and it was painful even to move.

And Horrigan then decided to explode. Well... smurf.

He smiled rather wryly as Horrigan's ticking stopped counting down. "Welp... Always wondered if I'd go out with a bang. Happy boom-daaaaay!"

And Horrigan exploded, sending shrapnel, molten plasma and bits of super-mutant in every direction. Except...

As the explosion ended, Lavan realized that he was still in pain.

"... Oi. What happened to boom-day?"

A glance out of his opening eyes told him exactly what happened: A wave of frozen, crystallized water was blocking the remainder of the blast, and he was still alive.

"Oh, poo. In the end, saved by a woman."

He turned left. Blinked. Blinked again... And snickered, falling onto his back as he saw Walter holding up his hands.

"You're not Nanami, but you'll do. See? Told ya! Best friends!"

Epilogue

-Connor and Sarai's House-

The car pulled up outside the house, Edda taking a deep breath, feeling almost uncomfortable in the car. He was much to use to roughing it, but Chloe had wanted some comfort after their years in either a cramped boat or roughing it.

But he had found out a lot. There were people out their still, finding some fledgling civilizations in may of the Caribbean islands. Edda wanted to propose a mission to Africa, Europe, and eventually to Asia later, to see if there were surviving civilizations from the Flare still. It had been where the Flare had been hit, but there had to be some survivors... And if there wasn't, they needed to find out what was out there. There was a lot of land and resources, and with the fusion technology of the Enclave, they might be able to handle it better...

“So what was our bet?” Edda asked Chloe, grinning now as he got out of the car, holding the door open for Chloe, “I thought they'd have three kids by now, what was your guess?”

-Deep in a South American Jungle-

“The people here are primitive, but friendly. There are several tribes in this forest, and I am surprised and worried that some of the Enclaves experiments even got down this far. Deathclaws were a threat here, but I have been doing what I can to eradicate them.

“The locals speak a language I have been able to decipher, which I believe to be based off of some Portuguese and Spanish meddling from pre-Flare people. I am teaching them English as well, so when they eventually come into contact with either the NCR or Panem, they will be able to speak with them.

“I have been able to do much good, working as a traveling 'shaman' of sorts. Showing them arts lost to no fault of their own from the Flare, such as medicine, agriculture, and the like. I believe they have attempted to make me their leader, but I continue to decline the offer. I know already I can not be trusted as a leader... But maybe I can do some good as a teacher.”

Gallic put the pencil down carefully as he finished writing in the journal, putting the book down on a desk, staring at the wall for a long moment.

“Well... I have work to do,” Gallic said, standing up. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. The air was very clean here.

No matter how much he did, he'd never feel like he'd make up for his sins. But he'd keep trying, for her...

Melanie felt a strange sense of de ja vu standing at a mirror clad in a white dress. It was like she was getting ready for the reaping all over again, putting on makeup and her best clothes in order to show the world that she was too innocent—too good—for the Games. Obviously that had been very untrue, because that same day she was thrown (white dress and all) into the event that changed her life forever.

Fortunately this white dress had a much more positive connotation than the last. It was long and elegant, bunching on the floor in a long train. It was covered in beading and lace, and showed off just enough skin in the back to make Melanie no longer look like a sixteen year old girl. Much to the dismay of her mother and probably even her father Melanie was a young woman now, and was getting married.

“Melanie, you look like a princess”

Melanie smiled at the rare compliment from her usually stoic mother. The young woman moved over her long wavy hair to allow Kanna to button up the back of her dress. Kanna was quiet for a moment, focusing on the tiny buttons.

“Do you think dad will like it?” Melanie asked, fidgeting nervously “Is he here?”

“Rica’s probably found the champagne. I’m sure he’ll pop in some time” Kanna said offhandedly.

“What about Galv?”

“Well I would HOPE the idiot was here on his wedding day-“

“Not what I meant, do you think he’ll like my dress?” Melanie corrected.

“He’d be blind not to” Kanna offered, finishing up. She then stood back to admire her work.

Connor and Sarai's House

Chloe sat in the car watching the scenery pass by as she and Edda headed to Connor’s home for a visit. They had both been gone so long that seeing an actual town seemed strange…But at the same time she would appreciate a warm bath and food that wasn’t prepackaged.

As the car stopped and Edda got her door Chloe gave a little grin, stepping out and looking around. This was always the kind of place she imagined Sarai and Connor living in from Sarai’s letters. It was very small and cute…Nothing too grand for those two.

“My bet is on at least 6. I bet they started at it the day we left!” Chloe joked, running her hand through her hair. It was still short and she still resembled a boy…Mostly. She had to look feminine enough to keep Edda on his toes.

[…]

It took a long time but after almost three years Sarai was getting used to the idea of being back in the real world, and not being an Avox. A lot had happened in those years; she found a place to live with Connor and she learned how to help him with healing. Having a job that she had chosen on her own accord was something brand new to the young woman, but at the same time it was an amazing responsibility. Currently she was training to become a midwife, which seemed like the perfect job for the girl.

Sarai’s new life, and job, was helping her break out of her shell immensely. Though every now and then Sarai would still wake up in a panic from nightmares, or go completely silent in front of strangers that intimidated her. It was something that would take many more years to fix completely, but for now she was just happy with baby steps she was making towards becoming a normal member of society.

There were other things that were helping her acclimate to normal life, including the various letters she had received from Chloe in the last three years. Ironically the two girls got a long rather well with thousands of miles of distance between them. It was nice for Sarai to be able to talk to someone like Chloe who understood all the trauma of the games and was also a girl. Back at home Sarai also had Rumi, the girl who had helped she and Connor get on their feet after the dust settled. While Chloe was far away Rumi was right here to give advice and make sure Sarai didn’t revert back to her hermit ways.

And then there was Connor. He was the love of her life and literally the reason she was still alive. He had been nothing but supporting and loving since the day they met back before the Games. She would be forever indebted to him for all he had done to protect her, and could only hope she was being a good enough wife for him and mother for their child.

In a move no one was expected Sarai and Connor have a baby before Melanie and Galv?! What is this madness!

“Come here love” Sarai said as she sat on the grass in front of she and Connor’s home, waiting for much anticipated guests. She reached out as a happy toddler waddled unevenly towards her momma, finally losing her balance and falling against her in a soft thump.

Sarai and Connor’s two year old daughter Caitlin looked just like her momma, with dark eyes and messy brown hair but she was a lot less timid than the woman, obviously getting every ounce of her energy from her father. The girl was Connor’s pride and joy, and further proof to Sarai that she was meant for something else other than being a slave or a punching bag.

Suddenly a car pulled up, the woman pausing for a moment before picking up Caitlin. Once she realized who was inside the car she smiled, rushing over.

In the three years since the fall of the Enclave, a lot had changed. The damage to the capitol during the final battle was intense – between the bombs dropped by the NCR and Lavan’s cohorts, and the Super Mutants, most of the city was destroyed. However, rebuilding began soon after the collapse of the Enclave, and by now a functional city was built in the heart of Panem.

A new government had risen to power, now led by an eccentric but brilliant man named Miyamoto, who had been a rebel supporter during the war. There had been some problems, as to be expecting in building a whole new world from the ground up – but it had all worked out in the end.

The new Panem was functional, powerful, and most of all – a place of hope. Technology from Big MT had helped to revitalize the world and bring a new sense of security, and they had benefited from the friendships with New Vegas and the NCR.

The NCR had changed quite a bit too. President Tandi had been forced to step down after her attempt at nuking the Enclave. She died nearly a year later in her home, finally succumbing to old age.

[Connor and Sarai’s House]

For Connor, the last three years had been the polar opposite of what came before it. Instead of living in poverty in the slums, he and Sarai had been given a rather spacious private home in the country; a gift for their services during the rebellion. Connor had gotten a job as a doctor in the Capitol, and things were good.

Most important of all, though, was his new family. The Hunger Games had robbed him of his parents, but now he had Sarai – his wife, and they were the parents. His daughter was the absolute most important person in his life and he doted on her from sun up to sun down.

Rumi had also become quite a big part of their lives. Connor had thought that girl would become a friend when they first met in that hospital, and that feeling turned out to be true. She was a big part of their lives, and Connor was grateful for it.

“They’re here.” Connor said as he walked outside with a grin and adjusted his tie. He walked over and looked down at Sarai and Caitlin and smiled brightly to them both. He kissed Sarai on the cheek, and then kissed Caitlin on the head and whispered: “Caitlin, it’s time for you to meet some of your parents best friends.”

[Church]

“Oh come now, Kanna, you know I gave up drinking.”

The door opened and Rica appeared as he stepped inside. His usual tattered trenchcoat and sunglasses gone, replaced with a tuxedo and bowtie. The scent of booze that had once clung to the man was also a thing of the past.

“You look amazing, Melanie.” Rica said as he walked over and smiled to his daughter. He was grateful for the relationship he’d been able to build with her in the time since the Games, but he knew that now it was time for her new life with Galv with truly begin – and Rica was happy.

“Of course, we’ve got the priest, we’ve got the cake… we could always make this a double wedding.” Rica added as he looked over to Kanna.

-Connor and Sarai's House-

“Hmmm, could be, we'll see who won,” Edda laughed as he saw Sarai, Connor, and their daughter coming up to them. He assumed Rumi and Paul were around as well, as Paul was still Edda's best friend and would want to say hello.

“I only see one kid. Maybe the rest are inside,” Edda said idly, grinning and waving, “Hey everyone! We have stories to share with you all!”

-Church-

“Of course, we’ve got the priest, we’ve got the cake… we could always make this a double wedding.”

“Sure, but you're already giving away Melanie, you're not being my Best Man too,” Ethan said, stepping inside and looking around, “Everything's ready for Melanie.”

Galv stood at the end of the aisle, looking nervous as he waited for Melanie. His father stood by him, smiling at the boy.

“Congratulations, son,” Samuel said, “You be good to her, okay?”

Galv nodded. He couldn't even consider hurting Melanie in any way.

Old Man Sensei, the justice of the peace for the ceremony, smiled as well. Of course he wanted to be involved in this.

Connor and Sarai’s House

Chloe grinned at Connor and Sarai, instantly noticing their daughter. She was surprised there was just one, surely they had more free time than that! "Well look at that beauty! Hello there little mija" she said, stepping forward playing with the toddler's curly hair. "You look just like your mommy and daddy!" she then looked to Sarai "She's beautiful Sarai"

The young woman smiled, a blush falling over her tanned cheeks. "Thanks"

Chloe then looked to Connor, moving forward and hugging him tightly. Even after all this time she had no problem invading his personal space "Long time no see miho" she said, stepping back. "Did you get taller? I could have sworn you were scrawnier last time I saw you! You look like a bonafied adult now!"

Wedding Chapel

"You look amazing, Melanie.”

"Dad!" Melanie exclaimed, turning around. She tried not to rush over too fast, lest she fall on her face and ruin her dress. "Did you check on Galv? He's not freaking out or anything right?"

Kanna couldn't help but to roll her eyes when Rica came in. She instantly noticed he was beaming ear to ear, which was customary for the father of the bride. He just looked so happy....Happier than she had ever seen him.

“Of course, we’ve got the priest, we’ve got the cake… we could always make this a double wedding.”

"Hell would freeze over first" Kanna stated simply "Why don't we focus on our daughter getting married before making any bad decisions ourselves.

“Everything's ready for Melanie.”

Melanie turned to Ethan, biting her lip but smiling all the while. She was extremely nervous, but at the same time she had never been happier. "O-Okay, h-here goes" she said.

"Melanie you'll do wonderfully" Kanna said, leaned forward and hugging her daughter. She then stepped back and let Rica take it from here.

[...]

Outside the room everyone stood, waiting anxiously. Jason who was standing near Galv, looked over to the groom. "Remember, mess up and you have to deal with me, Kanna AND Rica. A bit scarier than the Games"

[New New Vegas]

It has been three long years since the end of the conflict. Three long years full of reconstruction, full of celebration, and full of continued life as the shackles of oppression were finally thrown off. It took a massive effort to just throw off the previous regime, but even such a massive effort didn't turn out as clear-cut as it theoretically should have been.

In the year following the fall of the Enclave, several new governments attempted to rise, created by both those who wanted freedom and justice, and the unsavory sort who remained of the old regime tried to re-install themselves into power. That didn't take long to dig up, but everyone wanted a slice of the new pie, and a lot were willing to kill for it. For several months, anarchy reigned as the less savory of the civilian populace began to run their own protests against the new government, attempting to set up a state of anarchy that would allow them to thrive.

It was a mess. A mess that certain people took to cleaning with gusto.

In that year, Lavan was a busy, busy boy. From running errands for the now-confirmed autonomous region of New Vegas and their newly installed self-government managed by multiple families, running errands for Old Man Sensei and Nanami, helping the populace recover and suppressing rebels that still wanted to fight, even though there was nothing to fight anymore, he ended up being far more busy than he would have liked to be. It culminated several times in rather large tantrums in his own shop, where he mostly made strange chemicals and modifications to vehicles.

Finally, after a year of everything, and after the dust had begun to settle and the new government actually started functioning, a new police force on the streets and the world finally sliding into its proper place. Lavan announced that he had enough, dragged Nanami out in full view of a number of people on the street, and announced for the whole world to hear that he was going on vacation, and that it was non-negotiable. Thus absolving himself and the girl of any further responsibilities to the new state, he packed up, and disappeared into the distance with Nanami.

That's where the wild stories began.

For two whole years, both of them traveled the world, seeing new things, hunting down creatures, re-discovering awe-inspiring places and relaxing, though with the occasional scuffle with a few rogue elements here and there. Acting like a pair of vigilantes on a great big world trip, the pair made their way south, and left a trail of confusion in their wake. Lavan wasn't afraid of causing trouble wherever the two went, and more often than not Nanami had to bail him out of scandal after scandal. From ending up in compromising positions with strange monsters to running away from local hunters, to even more bizarre and strange events. It was a full two years of relaxation and pure FUN for the pyro.

Almost burning down a forest. Freezing a part of a sunny beach. Several dozen corpses of Deathclaws landing on a raider encampment. A tank detonated over the Pacific just off the shore in a blast radius test. More and more such events were noticed, written about, and subjected to what was basically the re-birth of local mythos. In joke, Lavan even left crop circles in some of the fields he passed, spooking farmers and making fly-overs much more interesting.

And through it all, Lavan grew ever closer to his companion, with every adventure, every moment, every single day marked by a new (or old) joke (or prank), and i the end the trip was enough to relax even him. The war took its toll even on Lavan, who had seen far too many souls lost in the dark. Walter, Cess, Nanami, even Old Man Sensei were given new hope, and his old teacher approved whole-heartedly of his efforts.

And so, after two years, the pair finally made their way back around to give the New New Vegas a visit, riding Lavan's trust motorcycle through the opened gates of the walls of New Vegas...

[Connor and Sarai’s House]

“I want to hear all the stories!” Connor said excitedly as he saw the pair. Memories came rushing back from all the times the four had shared, all the adventures, near death experiences and other strange situations. Although most of those memories were pretty terrible, the scars of the past had faded.

“I’m glad you two are back.” Connor said, as Chloe hugged him. He smiled to her and rubbed his neck. “I have to look like an adult now. I’m a dad… and I’m a real doctor now.”

[Wedding Chapel]

Rica laughed a bit and leaned back against the wall. “I don’t think he’s anymore freaked out than you… but I know he’s excited.”

In truth, Rica was proud. His daughter and Galv had survived, and overcome so much – the Hunger Games, the Enclave, and even Kanna – and now they were here and this would be their special day.

[New New Vegas]

On that fateful day, three years ago, father had passed to child the control of the most dangerous weapon on the planet. Nanami had saved a city, and spent the better part of the next year helping to rebuild.

Whenever someone tried to seize power, or the new government seemed to falter in some way and there was a threat to the stability of the new nation, Nanami had stepped in with the same fiery fervor that had led her to overthrow Gallic and Autumn.

Yet the very instant that a functional new government was actually established, the day when she knew safety and peace had come to Panem; that was the last day Nanami had been involved with the government.

Although in the end she had decided on mercy instead of revenge, Nanami knew that she was a product of war and death. She was well suited to the days of war, but she did not envision herself as a leader in peacetime. She didn’t want to be a leader.

Nanami had eventually come to accept that Gallic had done what he thought was right. While she still disagreed with his actions and blamed him for most of what happened, she could not fault his motives – and that was what scared her the most. If good intentions could lead to so much pain and misery, then she didn’t want to be the one leading.

She didn’t want to end up like Gallic.

So when Lavan had made the offer for her to travel with him, Nanami had agreed. The last two years had been… interesting. She had seen places she never knew existed, rediscovered places that were lost to history and been through adventures stranger than she ever imagined.

Those travels brought a change to Nanami. She smiled more, she laughed more and she became a bit friendlier. She also stopped dwelling on the past. The memories of the people she had killed, the memories of the pain she’d endured, and even the memories of the boy she loved had all faded into the past. Nothing was forgotten, but it no longer controlled her.

For the first time in forever, Nanami’s thoughts turned to the future… a future that she no longer wanted to spend alone.

Her crimson eyes flicked to the redhead driving the bike. The last two years had brought on many surprises, but the biggest one had to be… them. At one point Nanami could barely stand Lavan, and now she had fallen in love.

“Try not to drive like a complete idiot.” Nanami groaned over to Lavan.

Some things never change.

Lavan laughed aloud, his voice carrying over the roar of the engine.

"I am NOT driving like an idiot! I am driving like a lunatic! There's a WORLD of difference between those two! One implies that I crash consistently, the other implies that I run over passerby's! And since I have not crashed us yet, I believe I fall firmly into the second category!"

He roared down the street at speeds that were generally unsafe to ride at, DARING for the local authorities to try and stop him as he headed for the central casino. The Lucky 38, now changed and renovated to be the central building and the meeting place of all of the running families, blinked with its many neon lights in welcome to the two riders. The streets were cleaned up considerably after the families got together, and renovations have turned the streets downright pristine.

"So, Nanami, what is it that you want here anyways? If it's gambling, then at least let ME have some fun. I swear I won't try to bankrupt the local casino chain again! OH! I also want to check out that advertisement about the cruise ship! Maybe we can do some sharking while there! Wait... Shark HUNTING, sorry! Unless you want to go sharking too. We can do that! I won't complain!"

Lavan himself was enjoying life immensely these days. With a partner as competent as Nanami, he could truly let his eccentricities run wild, and get himself into trouble without having to worry too much about how he was going to get out. And, honestly speaking, once Nanami started to loosen up, she was FUN to be with! The girl had mad skills in almost everything, ranging from combat to cooking (Lavan wasn't sure where the line was drawn between those two sometimes), and Lavan himself found that spending time alone was not his favorite these days.

And while it was difficult to make Nanami react to any of his idiocy these days, every time he GOT a massive reaction, it was SO worth it.

Oh yeah. He was falling hard for the girl, and it was happening pretty fast. But with Nanami's scars, he long ago decided to go along at the girl's own pace, and he thoroughly enjoyed the road along the way.

Well, except for maybe her habit of sleeping with something sharp within reach at all times.

Connor and Sarai’s House

"The dad part is what's getting me. Who would have thought you'd have enough guts to get Sarai knocked up! Good going miho! Hopefully it all didn't happen as awkwardly as I imagine!"

Sarai went red in the face, clutching Caitlin against her as the toddler giggled at a joke she obviously didn't get. "M-Maybe we should all go inside, we have a lot of catching up to do" the young woman said, motioning for them to follow.

Even though she was older now, Chloe still had absolutely no filter. The girl playfully punched Connor's shoulder, following the others. "I have loved the last few years of traveling, but we're both really glad to see you guys" she said. "It'll be just like old times! But with less murder....And a baby."

Wedding Chapel

"T-Thanks dad...For not giving up on us"

Melanie followed Rica out of the room, taking his arm and staring forward nervously. She knew there was nothing to be afraid of...She was getting married to her best friend, but at the same time this was scarier than the Games.

Luckily as soon as she caught sight of Galv at the end of the aisle the fear melted away. She was ready to marry him.

[Connor & Sarai’s House]

Connor’s face turned a deep shade of red and he was thankful that Caitlin was too young to have any clue what Chloe was talking about. He shook his head, and winced a bit as she punched his shoulder.

“You haven’t changed a bit, I see.” Connor grinned to Chloe. Then his expression turned a bit more serious. “Thankfully, the murder part is well behind us… and with some luck, Caitlin will grow up in a world totally different from the one we know…”

[Wedding Chapel]

“I’ll never give up on you.” Rica whispered as they walked out. “And if in a year or two you and Galv need a babysitter, I’ll be around.”

Rica had to go and make things a little awkward, but he was for once on his best behavior.

[New New Vegas]

Wham!

Nanami’s palm connected with the back of Lavan’s head and she simply shut her eyes and shook her head. As much as she had come to enjoy her time with the redhead, and for all the ways in which she had mellowed out since the final battle – Nanami still had times when she just needed to slap him.

“Behave for once, will you? This place is a legitimate civilization now – or at least close to one.” Nanami chuckled a little. “Let’s just have some fun. Nothing too crazy, though.”

-Connor and Sarai's House-

“We brought you guys some souvenirs too, they're in the car,” Edda added, “We'll show you some of the pictures too... So much out there.”

He paused a moment, then grinned towards Chloe, putting an arm around her shoulder.

“A baby? If you want we could have one ourselves,” Edda said with a grin. While Edda would like a kid, he knew very well that would be entirely Chloe's decision.

-Wedding Chapel-

Galv caught his breath when he saw Melanie at the end of the aisle, growing more nervous as she got closer.

When she arrived at the end, Galv smiled brightly, reaching out and taking her hand softly, as Old Man Sensei began the ceremony.

Once he reached the end, he turned to Galv and Melanie, “I believe the young Hawkins has something he wishes to say to his almost bride.”

Galv nodded, then turned towards Melanie, looking into her blue eyes, “Melanie... I love you so much. I couldn't begin to imagine life without you. I will always be there for you, and I hope you will be there for me. We've been through so much already, and I know that together, we can accomplish anything.”

He paused a moment, taking a breath before he continued, “You're wonderful Melanie, and I know I'm lucky to be with you. I can't claim you as mine, you're your own person... But I want you to know, I am your's. If you asked the impossible of me, I would do it, because you asked. For me, you are my spark, my light, and I hope you will share that with me until the very end.”

Galv smiled, “I love you, Melanie.”

GRAPPLING HOOK!

Wedding Chapel

"Thank you so much for noticing me before the Games...Than you for protecting me and thank you for risking your life for me. I am so thankful you were my partner...Obviously I was blind as a bat not to realize sooner how amazing you are. I blame it on being a dumb teenager" she joked, wiping her eyes with a small handkerchief.

"I love you and am ready to spend the rest of my life with you" she concluded.

Connor and Sarai's House

Chloe couldn't help but to laugh at Edda's suggestion, the woman placing her hand on his shoulder. "Maybe, but you do realize if you got me pregant I would CRUSH you. Not on purpose of course, but you'd probably die"

This would have been very troubling coming from anyone else. But Chloe said it very lovingly.

"But heck, if you're dumb and have a death-wish than sure! Let's go at it!" She looked to Connor "Eh miho! Got a spare room we can get busy in? Perferably one you're never going to use again?"

And that's what i'm ending this with. :D

Lavan just laughed after being hit in the back of the head. It was a usual occurrence these days, so he wasn't all too worried about it. Especially since lately, even his own stupid actions often drew small smiles from the girl, he was perfectly willing to put up with some pain to continue the trend.

The things men do for women.

"Oh, I know! This is a civimilized place now, so I'll be sure not to destroy anything this time. I don't promise no fire, but I'll make sure not to destroy anything. Badly. Besides!"

He raised his hands into the air, leaving the bike to drive itself for a moment as he whooped in victory.

"FREEEEDOOOOOOOOM! THIS, Nanami! I think it was worth it to fight for THIS! The brighter days, the kids running in the stree-... CRAP!!!"

HE barely got his hands down and swerved around a bunch of kids playing ball in the streets, wiping imaginary sweat off his brow a second later.

"Yeah. Streets. Note to self: Driving like a lunatic NOT permitted. Whew!"

He swerved into a tight turn and slide, sliding the bike sideways into a parking slot right in front of the Lucky 38, shouting into the air with all his might.

"LUUUUCYYYYY, I'M HOOOOOOOME!!!"

Then, he paused, turned a confused eyebrow to Nanami and asked.

"Wait... Who's Lucy?"

Now becomes the the past in an instant — and everyone will eventually die! Destiny triumphs over human knowledge and goes mad! That is the way of things! I spit upon this frail, crazed, world! I spit upon the Second Law of Thermodynamics!
~ Desty Nova, Karmatron Theory

Let them Label me! Let them swear and curse at me as I tug humanity like a bucking bull into the darkness of the unknown, revealing its secrets to the sane and driving them MAD! In ages long past, I shall be looked upon as a tyrant and a savior! As a savant and as a fool! My work shall advance humanity long past its time, throw it into the unknown future and force it to grow strong or FALL! Years from now, when I will inevitably be removed, my work shall continue to progress, because these things cannot be denied! Governments will publicly criticize my work, but privately conduct research that advances it! I shall imprint myself into the annals of history, among the stars that shine as brightly as Albert Einstein, Isaac Newton, Benjamin Franklin, Dmitri Mendeleev, Nikola Tesla, and countless others! My work will shine as brightly as any star, and I AM ITS CREATOR!!!

The Crazy One

[Connor & Sarai’s House]

Connor laughed, shaking his head. It brought a smile to his heart that Chloe and Edda hadn’t change too much. His eyes moved over to Sarai, and he walked over and picked up Caitlin, holding the girl lovingly in his arms.

“You two can save the baby-making for later. Right now, how about we all just spend some time together? Sarai and I have missed you so much…”

In this moment, Connor was happy. Life had turned around. The horrors of the past were still very real, but they had faded into unpleasant memories… and the distant hope of a better tomorrow had become the daily reality.

[Wedding Chapel]

Rica watched as Galv and Melanie professed their love, and even the jaded old drunk couldn’t help but smile. While he had lost so much to the Games – his daughter had found the happiness that could have so easily been lost. A happiness that was alive and well.

[New New Vegas]

Nanami shook her head as she climbed off the bike and dusted off her pants. She looked around the streets – and a real smile formed on her lips.

Lavan was right. This had been worth fighting for. There were people out on the streets – all sorts of people. Citizens of the NCR, locals, tourists from Panem… and they were all smiling. Laughter erupted from different directions, people shopped, gambled, drank and made merry all around.

It was like being in the streets of the Capitol years ago, except these people weren’t some blinded fools following a corrupt government. Their merriment did not come from the Hunger Games, or propaganda – they were happy because of the sights and sounds around them.

Nanami suddenly turned and grabbed Lavan’s hand, giving it a squeeze. “You’re right. This is the brighter days. Now come on… let’s go have some fun.”

When the Solar Flare hit, the world descended into chaos. Tyranny and oppression reigned in places, while anarchy and disorder took root in others. It seemed that the peace of the Old World would never return… but it did.

The brave heroes who stood up to Gallic, Autumn, Caesar, House and Tandi did the amazing. They managed to challenge the leaders of the world – and they prevailed. In doing so, in breaking the cycle of violence that had controlled the world for so long, they built the foundation for a New World.

A new world, built on hope and promise.

[THE END]
