[The Capitol] Lavan wasn't expecting his opponent to use a shredder grenade. Of course, Lavan knew of shredder grenades, but he hadn't been the target of many before. He didn't have anywhere to duck behind, and Horrigan himself was a deadly opponent that WASN'T going to simply stand there and take lasers meant for Lavan... When the pyro remembered that he had a rather unique tool at his disposal. Metal was a very interesting thing. The steel Lavan fused with his own skin was a compound meant for Enclave tanks, and had properties that protected it from solid arms AND energy weapons, just in case someone else decided to use them. This mental in particular, when purified, had a sheen that acted as a reflective surface. So, as the Shredder Grenade exploded, Lavan vented all the foreign particles from the metallic shell he encased himself in, and withdrew the heat, hyper-cooling it and turning himself into a chrome-colored statue with a very reflective surface. The lasers from the shredder grenade struck him, bounced off of the reflective shell, and randomly scattered in every direction, including back at Horrigan! Once done with that, Lavan hyper-heated the shell again, and stepped sideways. "Uh-huh. Try again, Franky, better luck next time!" |

[The Capitol] Horrigan hadn’t expected this at all. The lasers bounced away from Lavan’s metallic shell and shot back at the giant mutant. He let out a road as the lasers bombarded his body, punching a few holes in his damaged armor and through his skin at several places. He let out a loud roar, as he stumbled down to one knee and let out a roar. He looked up, glaring at Lavan. Just as he had during his fight with Nanami at Big MT, he had found a new opponent who could stand up to him. “Heh… heheheh… now this will actually be fun…” Horrigan grinned. “But I wonder, firefly, how long you can burn before you burn out?” |

[The Capitol] Lavan paused for a moment, and then brought his hand up to his chin, appearing to actually ponder the question! A second later, he was doing some rudimentary counting using his fingers. "Let's see, if I go for this long, that means this much, carry the two, make the four a six, add a few grenades and a Walrus..." He looked at his hands, both left with two fingers, and looked back up at Horrigan, looking rather honestly gleeful. "Well, would you look at that! I get to burn for much longer than you get to stand on those two legs of yours! Convenient." And without further ado, he launched himself into melee with Horrigan, trying to slip beneath his guard to land another punch at the weakened armor. |

[The Capitol] The obnoxious way Lavan spoke just irritated Horrigan to no end. He was ready to fight, ready to crush Lavan beneath his massive new hands – but he had a problem. Becoming the ultimate Super Mutant had given him strength beyond anyone else in the world. He could throw a tank around with the same level of ease as someone tossing a stone. His knife could cleave a man in two, and his gun had mowed down fields of soldiers… And they were utterly useless against Lavan. His strength was nothing against someone whose body was as hot as a star. He couldn’t crush or punch him without burning himself – and both his gun and his knife had been destroyed by Lavan’s heat. Then the punch came and it struck his chest, burning a hole in his armor and he screamed out as he fell back, his flesh burning beneath the punch as he doubled over, trying to think of some plan to kill Lavan! |

[The Capitol] Previously, Lavan faced off against opponents that could develop proper counters to his abilities. Walter in particular, but quite a few others even before the games. It's why he studied martial art so extensively, to supplement his abilities with physical performance that would not leave him hanging out to dry. He learned how to flow in combat, chain attacks and defenses, read opponents and seamlessly respond. And the people he fought before, even in mock fights, knew how to respond to that. But now, Frank Horrigan couldn't. And that was an advantage Lavan never had before. And he used it. After the first attack came the next, another punch. Then, Lavan went low, and kicked upward with a leg, spinning as he went to snap out another kick with the opposite leg, using the kick as a hook to bring himself to Horrigan's side and within his guard, chaining into a staccato of several punches ended with an open-palm heat-burst. And he didn't stop there. Attack after attack, using every hole in Horrigan's defenses that he could find, always moving, constantly in motion and constantly keeping himself difficult to hit. Because even if he was covered by such hot metal, a full-strength punch could still shatter his bones. That knife still hurt him, even if it melted as it went in. Those punches could still break him. He wasn't about to let that happen. So, similarly to his performance against Walter, he continued in his assault, unrelenting, every punch delivering yet another painful blow, every blocked attack as painful as one that wasn't. Lavan was aiming at taking that armor down COMPLETELY, and he'd set his sights on that goal with an almost fanatical level of focus. |

[The Capitol] Every punch and each kick was like salt in Horrigan’s wounds. He had always been the best. His speed and agility were unmatched, rivaled only by Gallic himself. He had been able to flawlessly block attacks and counter them in the past. It was what made him so absolutely deadly – and it was what had let him come so close to killing Nanami. However, now Horrigan was enormous. While his strength and durability had been upped to superhuman levels, he was just too big to move with his former speed. In the past he could have matched Lavan’s strikes, and probably gotten around them… but now he was simply too massive to have a chance. Frustration surged through him as he saw that the very actions he’d taken to become a better killing machine had backfired. Autumn and Gray’s insane mutations were leading to him losing this fight – a fight he could not afford to lose. He fought back as much as he could. He punched and tried to grab Lavan, trying to do anything to throw off the redhead’s rhythm and try to deliver some kind of damage; but he had unknowingly sabotaged himself long before the fight began! |

I can't see what you're imagining
|
-The Capitol- Lavan was destroying Horrigan, his powers moving through the Super Mutant like a hot knife through butter, an apt simile for the situation. Walter had gotten out of the way, letting Lavan have the fight. If it looked like he needed help, or if Walter had a clear enough shot, he'd take it, but he and Lavan were not in any way in sync enough to really fight together, and Horrigan could easily take advantage of that. He had to admit... the Rebel was impressive, even if Walter still didn't like him. -Victor's Village- “Yes... I suspected that would be your answer,” Gallic said, “And yet again you assume the worst of me. I suppose you always will.” He reached into a pocket and pulled out a battered case, then set it down on the console. After a brief moment he opened it up, and Nanami would see... pictures. And a faded piece of paper. He took a single picture out, and put it into a pouch of his armor, then put the case back down. “You're right... I've become a liability. My mere presence means too many people are at risk. But... It's damn hard to kill me. Might be impossible even...” Gallic said, turning his back to Nanami now, “The code for the Satellite Cannon... the day of your birth. Your mother's idea, our own little joke... You're the only other person who knows the code. So it's your choice... set the self destruct, use it to wipe out your enemies, keep it as a deterrent... It's your's, daughter. My final gift to you. Power. Let it corrupt you, or be stronger then I was.” And Gallic took a step towards the door, pausing for a single moment, “And the case... it has pictures of your mother, and you as a child. I always kept it with me. You can keep them or burn them or bury them. They're your's too now.” He smirked a little, shaking his head, “And you can also try and kill me. I won't fight you anymore, Nanami. You're in charge now. I can't kill you. Not now. Not anymore. No matter what you say, no matter what you do, you are my daughter... You are her daughter. I gave that promise and I can't go back on it. Not when you've become so much better then either Rin or I could have hoped.” He tapped the earpiece, activating it and speaking out. “All forces loyal to me... I am standing down. It's over. The Rebels have won. Cooperate with them as best as you can. Unless engaging Super Mutant foes, lay down your arms and surrender. I trust that the Rebels will treat you fairly... We have all been under the Enclave thumb,” Gallic announced. He started to hear Claire, but pulled the device from his ear and crushed it in a spark of circuitry. “I've controlled enough of your past... So you should have your own future, shouldn't you?” Gallic said, looking back towards Nanami now. “I wish I could have really been there for you. I wish I could have seen your first steps, heard your first word, saw you off to school... Truly been there for you. But I put everyone else before you. And in the end I failed both you and everyone else... But it's you I'll regret the most.” Gallic turned back towards the door and headed for it now, letting Nanami decide what she would do... |

[The Capitol] It was almost disappointing. Frank Horrigan, for all of his shape and size and nasty disposition, was simply being taken apart by Lavan singularly. The pyro didn't even need outside help from Walter, he just had to apply himself fully, and the result was obvious. Sure, the red-headed fighter stacked things in his favor, and he was doing a lot of damage to himself with the advantages he had gained, but it was still enough to tango with Horrigan. Lavan wasn't sure whether to feel relieved... Or disappointed. This wasn't even a fight. Sure, he had to apply himself fully, but this was no longer a true fight. It was a one-sided beating. HE thought that his arrival would provide an edge... It turns out that his arrival turned the fight around completely. He... Wasn't quite sure what to think of that either. But that didn't mean he was going to stop. Amongst the people loyal to Autumn's side, Frank Horrigan was one of the monsters who continued to do horrific and vile deeds even outside of his orders. Countless atrocities hung over his head, and this was the time to put a stop to him. Permanently. "Is this all you can do now? Is this all the fight you have LEFT?" Another series of punches, these made as Lavan spun around the giant man, the blows eating through the remains of Horrigan's armor on his lower back. A kick to the shin exploded in sparks as Lavan's hyper-heated shell blasted through the remains of a power armor joint, shattering the protective layer and sizzling the flesh underneath with molten steel. "Where's your spirit gone?! Where is that monstrous form and skill that kept Nanami AND Gallic at bay? Are you so dependent on your size and armor and weapons that you've forgotten about SKILL?" A set of kicks following the shin kick smashed into the lower leg, upper leg and then hip, each exploding in a shower of sparks and molten metal. "Come on and FIGHT ME already!!! Or have you forgotten HOW?!!" Slipping under another arm swing, Lavan lashed another kick against said arm, hooking his knee over the outstretched limb and hanging off the leg to snap a kick with his other leg right into the man's torso, swinging upside-down as the armor under his knee joint melted like so much putty. A pinch to the giant's groin area pushed Lavan away from the body and swung him back upwards, using the arm like a swing pole. Lavan then tensed and kicked off HARD, both legs snapping into the upper part of Horrigan's chest where the solar plexus was still guarded by a thick sheet of metal, and the resulting explosion of molten steel and metal got rid of most of that protection too. "You provided a CHALLENGE! You almost HAD us at Big Mountain! You had the rebels on the run for MONTHS before! So WHY CAN'T YOU PUT UP A FIGHT?!! HAVE YOU REALLY LOST YOUR SPIRIT SO THOROUGHLY?!!" [The Capitol] Horrigan knew that things were going badly for him. He had prepared for a battle against the girl, not against this pyromaniac who could so easily burn through his armor. The heat was the one thing stopping Frank from tearing Lavan apart. His strength was unmatched, and he could match the redhead on speed… but that heat was a major problem. If this kept up, he was in trouble. The damage to his armor and his body was already stacking up. He was bleeding and burned, and his helmet was damaged severely exposing his face. His strength had failed him… By now, Horrigan was down to his knees. His body was bruised, burnt, bloodied and he seemed like he was down for the count. “… Skill? Is that what you count your success to? Where is the skill in using explosives and heat? You possess all the same skill as a bomb. You are a crude instrument, nothing more… you have but one advantage over me, and it’s high time I take that advantage away.” Frank did have a plan. He knew that it presented certain dangers, and he would most likely not survive… but that had stopped mattering. The Enclave was gone, Autumn was gone, and all that remained was his desire to kill this obnoxious boy in front of him. Suddenly Horrigan slammed his hand down on his belt, activating something. A few of the hoses still attached to his armor began to pump, and those that had been severed before started leaking a strange blue mist. “The temperature in this armor is too much for any living thing to survive. It has a sophisticated cooling system to keep me alive. It should be more than enough to douse your flame.” Horrigan scoffed as he climbed to his feet and moved his arm, snapping one of the hoses and spraying the coolant at Lavan! “Without your heat, you won’t survive a single punch.” [Victor’s Village] Crimson eyes widened in surprise. Her first instinct was that this was a trick, part of some plan to lure her off her guard and give him an easy chance to strike; but that made no sense. Gallic had ample opportunities to kill her before this. He could have struck her at any time when they were cooperating against Horrigan, or at any time during the run here… When he gave the stand down order to his men, she knew this was genuine. Don Gallic had surrendered… and now she was left with his words, and so many questions. How could any of this be true? She had been so convinced he was just spinning fanciful tales to try to trick her, but if that was the case, why do this? … Could Gallic perhaps be telling the truth? Nanami had a hard time believing that. Her eyes darted to the pictures of her mother in the case on the desk. She felt a pang of sadness well up in her chest and she had to close her eyes for a moment. Maybe after all of this time, it was Rin who had truly prevailed today. As she saw Gallic turn towards the door, her first instinct was to grab the knife from her belt and cut his throat before he could leave the room. After all that had happened, she surely couldn’t just let him walk away… but even as her hand moved towards the knife, she hesitated. Nanami had spilled enough blood, hadn’t she? “… If you truly Panem to have a future, to have a chance of recapturing the world as it was in your day, you’ll disappear and never return.” Nanami told him, but the coldness in her voice had vanished. Her eyes lingered on the back of Gallic’s head. She let go of the knife’s handle and let her arms fall limply at her sides. “I won’t forgive you. I can’t forgive you… but for my mother’s sake, I won’t try to stop you...” Nanami turned away from Gallic. There was nothing more to say. She had to let the past go. She turned instead to the control panel for the Orbital Satellite and quickly input the password. As the system was booting up, she pressed the earpiece and radioed to the Rebellion Base. “Old Man! It’s done, Gallic’s gone, and I have control of the Orbital Cannon, but Tandi tried to nuke us. I should be able to shoot the nuke down, but you need to do something about her.” |

Sarai was quiet when Chloe and Edda annouced that they would be leaving to see the world. Sarai trusted Edda with her own and even Connor's life and Chloe....Even though the two girls didn't get along all the time...She couldn't imagine the brash, arrogant, loud Chloe not being here...She had done so much for all of them after all. Sarai trusted her. "Yo Sarai, you got a second?" Sarai blinked, looking to Chloe. She gave a small nod and stood up, following the other girl out of the room. Once in the hallway Sarai looked over to the shorter girl, biting her lip. "You'll have to take care of him you know, not just like an Avox would" Chloe started, watching the girl frown. "You'll be the only family he has, are you okay with that? You'll have to be his support" Sarai nodded "I can do it...I w-want to" "And at the same time don't let anyone, not even miho, tell you what to do. You're free now and you get to make your own decisions." Sarai nodded again "T-Thanks Chloe. You g-guys should come back soon though" "I'm sure we won't be gone forever, just don't go having like nine babies while we're gone!" Chloe laughed, watching Sarai turn very red. The hispanic girl clapped her hand on her back with a loud laugh. "Kidding-" Sarai gave a small sigh, moving forward and hugging Chloe wordlessly. |

[The Capitol] Horrigan did have a point. A coolant liquid would flash-freeze Lavan's current hyper-heated exoskeleton and reduce his mobility to nothing. But Horrigan also made a critical, critical mistake. The monster revealed that nothing could survive within that suit, and he only did so because of the coolant that it was now expelling. Which meant that in just a few moments, it would be the end for Lavan if he stayed as he was. So, he pulled one last trick from his sleeve. Shunting most of the heat into the metal infused into his skin, he melted it all down, and then SHED it, expelling it in a burst of metallic bits that instantly froze upon contact with the coolant liquid, but protected Lavan from the initial spray. That gave Lavan mere seconds to work with, but even two seconds was like an age within such close quarters. The boy bounced backwards, making a few acrobatic back-flips, and landed hands straight on the backpack which was torn apart by the initial landing and blast. But there was one thing in that pack that was still viable. A package he still held since his fight with Walter. The two blades. Blades that Lavan snatched up from the pack as he landed on it hands-first, but he didn't continue to back-flip away. Instead, he pushed off of his hands, vented the rest of the heat he still held in one massive jet burst that took him straight over Horrigan's spray of coolant liquids and behind him... And then spun like a top, his blades precisely cutting away at several of the still-connected coolant pipes that were now revealed to the open air where Lavan had damaged them before. The blades withstood only three slashes each, the coolant flash-froze the metal and shattered it like glass after the third slice from each, but it was enough to cut away at some of the more important cooling pipes. After making the spin, the boy bounced away again, landing ten feet back and collapsing on one knee as the pain finally hit him. Without the warmth keeping his skin fused, he was now one giant third-degree burn. Whatever remained of the power he held was now concentrated on regenerating him, but Lavan's vision swam and he wasn't even able to stand straight. "... You were saying something about lack of skill, bud? Face it, Franky. You lost. Without spirit, you've got nothing to fight for anymore." He hissed in pain again. "Ach, tch, owowowowowwwww... This huuuurts!" |

[The Capitol] Horrigan had tried his last, best chance to kill Lavan – but the redhead was right. Frank Horrigan had been a true believer in the Enclave. Not for the selfish reasons of Autumn, or the grand ideals of Gallic – he had simply been a good soldier, doing his duty and defending the government he’d sworn his life to. … Yet in doing so, he had sacrificed everything. He had volunteered for the experiments, become a monster, and in the end he hadn’t made a difference. Gallic’s actions and Autumn’s instability had led to the end of the Enclave. Horrigan, for all his power, could not change that. And now he was denied even the chance to kill this rebel. With so many of the coolant hoses ruptured on his back, Horrigan collapsed against the ground. He would undoubtedly die now. There was no changing that. He could already feel his body becoming too hot… “… You’re right.” Horrigan whispered. “I have nothing left to fight for… but may you die too…” Frank suddenly ripped away a panel from his chest, revealing a string of explosives around his chest. He pressed a button and grinned beneath his helmet. The numbers were quickly ticking down, and then Horrigan exploded – spewing glowing green plasma in every direction! [Victor’s Village] The nuke was nearing the Capitol now. Nanami pressed a few buttons. The satellite moved, managing to catch a lock-on with the missile. She gave a sigh of relief as she pressed down on the button. High above in space a laser fired down, cutting through the missile and destroying it. The bomb was destroyed without exploding, ripping it apart harmlessly above the capitol. Nanami sighed, crossing her arms and leaning back in the chair. “… That’s all I can do. I just hope they can get Tandi…” |

-Rebel Base- Nanami would hear a crackle in her radio, Old Man Sensei contacting her. “Nanami... I've been talking to the NCR. General Peterson says that Tandi herself fired the nuke. There's been some...scuffle, and right now the NCR is pulling away from Panem to deal with their internal affairs. I can't do anything about Tandi... we have to let the NCR deal with it,” Old Man Sensei said, then paused a moment. When she had contacted him earlier... She said that Gallic was 'gone.' Not 'dead.' Gone. Nanami was not the kind of person to use a euphemism. If Gallic was dead, she would have said so. Whatever the case, he trusted Nanami would tell her when and if she felt like it. He wouldn't press the issue. He had the out most trust in her. “I heard Gallic's last message. It looks like his forces are surrendering, though I'm getting some reports of some of our allies and his men working together to take down some last Super Mutant squads,” Old Man Sensei said, “They're keeping their promise. And...” There was another pause. “We just received a message from a Claire Douglas. She's claiming to be the highest ranking member there still. She's backing up what Gallic said though, and wants to know what they can do to make sure there's no more fighting.” -Victor's Village- As the plasma exploded, a wall of ice shot in front of Lavan now, taking the brunt of the blast and super heating, but the ice held, the energy being shifted elsewhere... Walter had his hands up, in front of him was a wall of... plasma, super heated from water, from the very blast Horrigan was unleashing! Walter strained until the blast was gone, then fell down to his knees, breathing deeply. Moving that much energy around that quickly was very draining, but he wasn't dead. -B.o.S. Base- Edda blushed deeply at the thought of him and Chloe having a kid. Sure, he'd be very proud to be a father, but it was hard to imagine Chloe as a mother... “Heh... that's... something that'd be a few years away, at least,” Edda said, then grinned a little, “What about you? You'd make an... interesting mother, you know. “Though you do seem more like a crazy aunt type,” Edda added, thinking it over. |

[Rebel Base] Nanami listened to Old Man Sensei and nodded. She felt a sense of relief wash over her like a cool wave. It seemed like Gallic’s final order was being obeyed. If that held up, then maybe this war had truly ended today… “Okay. Okay, good. We’ll have to monitor the situation with the NCR, but I doubt they’ll want to be our enemies. I’m sure Peterson can keep things in line for now.” Nanami replied, and her mind turned to Douglas. “… Tell her that the best way to insure there’s no more fighting is to control her forces. The Enclave is gone. If her forces will cooperate, there’s no reason for retaliation against them. And…” Nanami paused. “Until we can put together our own government, we’ll need a provisional leader, someone who can meet with Douglas and build a foundation for us to build a future. That should be you, Sensei. We’ll need you to meet with her, and make sure they’ll stand down.” |
