“As for who he was... he was headstrong and brash. He had a very naïve view of the world. And yet, at the same time... he had a great deal of patience. He also had a great worth of compassion.”

Didymus wasn't done.

"What type of commander was he? Did those personality quirks manifest into rash or unwise decisions? Was he good at strategy and tactics? Please, spare no details."

“... I can honestly say he was a good man. One of the best I've ever met. He had a fierce desire to see justice done. As for what my teammates might have thought... you'd have to ask them.”

"One of the best you've ever met, Miss Archer? A fierce desire to see justice done. Sounds like an honorable man...apart from his naivety, were there any flaws, or, while we're on the subject of personality, any other virtues, to speak of? Beliefs, opinions, and so forth?...again, please, spare no details."

As Cherion talked, Didymus was busy taking notes, attempting to scribble down all the information he was receiving.

He knew he was asking much of this woman. But...he had a job to do. A job, doubtlessly, not everyone would understand or agree with. A job, he foresaw, that would not land him in good standing with many.

But it was his mission. It was what had to be done, his part in helping to prepare America for the coming storm.

Still, he was edgy. He was pressing deep-and hadn't even asked his hardest-hitting question yet.

GRAPPLING HOOK!

Hawkins House

Joyce knew that what she had said was wrong....But that was the thing-it wasn't really! It was exactly right! The war was going to destroy everything and no one believed her! They thought the Great War would be the worst thing that had ever happened in history but this could blow it out of the water!"

But she didn't say that. Instead the girl frowned, crossing her arms over her chest and giving a little nod.

"Yes sir" she muttered, looking to the side. She then turned around, rushing up the stairs and heading to her room.

Melanie sighed, still holding Blake but looking to Galv. "What are we going to do with her?" she asked.

Ellis island

The strange woman moved to a phone booth, fishing through her bag for a few coins to make a call....All she found were a few marks and pfenning...Nothing useful for America...The woman sighed, placing the coins back in her bag and heading back into the street.

Perhaps she could charm a helpless taxi cab driver into giving her a ride.

Or just kill him when he asks for the fare. That too.

Narroh Apartment

Jason eyed the charred piece of meat...Poking it slightly with a fork. It was pretty much gone.

"How about we just go out?" he asked with a grin, reaching into his pocket and producing two tickets. "I thought you might want to have a date night with me! Perhaps see a show?"

Taxi

"I do hope so" Crystal said, climbing out of the taxi "I can't help but to feel as if the NYPD is putting this on the backburner...I think the media has caught wind of all the homicides and now are the officers are trying to clean it up."

[Broadway Coffee House]

As Crystal and Sama walked into the small coffee house and took a seat near the window, the boy gave a small smile.

“Don't worry. Even if the NYPD aren't making this a priority... I will.” Sama grinned, not really bothering with the menu since this was one of his usual hangouts.

He paused, and looked over to her. “If there's any way to stop these guys, I'll find it.”

[Archer Law Firm]

Cherion paused, leaning back in her chair.

“He was a good commander. I think the results speak for themselves on that one. Look, son, we all did our jobs and we did them well. Our actions made a big difference in the war, and I can tell you were it not for our commander, things could not possibly have gone as smoothly as they did.”

She paused for a moment, as memories came rushing back. She was worried... how many of her former allies would soon be considered enemies? All because of unrest on the other side of the world.

“... Look. I'd like to wrap this up. I'm sure there are plenty of old reports that can give you all the information you're looking for. So unless there's anything else, I do have trials to prepare for.”

Crystal smiled, taking a menu and looking it over. She looked past the paper and giggled. "You're quite a chivalrous man Mister detective" she said, setting the menu down. "Care to tell me anything else about yourself? Surely you're not just a rouge detective who makes the NYPD look like children"

Didymus took notes, again, as Cherion spoke.

"Very well, Miss Archer, if you happen to be in possession of any of those reports that we may not have, I'd like to ask you to forward them to my hotel address..." he said, scribbling down an address and handing it to her.

“... Look. I'd like to wrap this up. I'm sure there are plenty of old reports that can give you all the information you're looking for. So unless there's anything else, I do have trials to prepare for.”

"There IS one more indulgence I would ask from you, Miss Archer, and after it hopefully I shall have no further need of your time...I apologize in advance for the personal, unprofessional, and accusatory nature of this question, but...did you or any of your team, to your knowledge, become...enamored...with your commander? Or did he develop such feelings during his time here, to your knowledge?"

Didymus didn't WANT to have to be like this. But duty called.

Sama chuckled a bit and took off his hat, placing it in the seat next to him. Suddenly, she asked him about himself and he nodded.

Surely you're not just a rouge detective who makes the NYPD look like children"

“Haha... no, that's just the interesting part of me.” He grinned, but was cut off as the waitress came over and took their orders. Once the waitress went off to get the coffee, Sama leaned back.

“Eh, my family used to live in a crappy little apartment next door to a police detective. I was your typical obnoxious kid who asked him a million questions... one day he decided to start teaching me stuff. Turns out, I took to it well... I'm pretty good at noticing little things other people don't.”

He paused. “I was going to join the police academy, but... well, there were some complications. So now I just spend all day upstaging the people with real badges.”

The boy just grinned. “My life is pretty much murder and theft... which sounds incredibly depressing when you say it out loud.” He laughed. “But enough about me? What about you!”

[Archer Law Firm]

Cherion shook her head. “Any files and reports in my law offices are privileged. I don't care if you are the military, the prosecutor or just another attorney... no one takes a look at my files without a court order.”

Then he asked his question, and she raised an eyebrow.

“... I see what this is. During the Great War, my team worked under a Japanese commander to PROTECT and DEFEND our country and our allies in Europe... and now, you're on a witch hunt.”

She stood up. “Get out of my office, Lieutenant. I have nothing more to say to you.”

"I understand, Miss Archer. Due process is certainly not to be done away with."

Didymus also stood.

"Very well. Thank you for your time, Miss Archer."

He turned and left, looking over his notes.

And I'm already off to a fantastic start. I suppose this was part of why they picked ME for this job...still, will all these people defend so vehemently their ties with an openly expansionist nation lining up with a madman?

He shook his head, and moved to hail a cab.

-Hawkins House-

“I don't know...I'm just glad she's not getting in trouble for being in closets...” Galv sighed, once again either ignoring or gliding over his and Melanie's own past.

He then sighed, walking over to his wife, pulling her and Blake into a hug.

“Now then champ, you shouldn't worry too much about what the other kids are saying about you. I'm sure you'll find some friends,” Galv said, ruffling Blake's hair. “And in a few years, if you talk with my accent, I'm sure you'll have girls swooning all over you!”

Blake paused, smiling slightly, though wondering why he'd want girls swooning over him. Girls were icky!

“...Is it because I don't have a power like you and mom and Joyce?” Blake wondered suddenly. Unlike his sister or father, Blake had never sparked, and unlike his mother, he had never been colder then others, or caused lights to break...

-Narroh Apartment-

“Oh, that sounds lovely!” Erin said, instantly feeling better, standing up and giving Jason a quick kiss.

“What show are we seeing dear? Ohhhh, I'll go get my nice dress!” Erin said. She loved nights on the town.

-Ellis Island-

A short man frowned, having come to the island to try and stretch his legs, and see some of the sights. His kids were expected home for a while, and he was never worried about them getting out of danger.

Ethan Vire sighed, shrugging. He suppose he should head home and grab a paper, and check out the stocks...An old client of his was depending on him, after all...

(AGOI! Don't forget Old Man Sensei's school.)

[Cab]

A cab quickly pulled up for Didymus, and the cabby stepped out and opened the door for him. A tall man, wearing rather ragged clothing and a oversized hat. There was something oddly familiar about him.

"Well it does sound depressing when you say it like that!" Crystal said with a laugh. Sama then asked her about herself and the girl shrugged, leaning back in her chair "You know, i'm just your normal secretary working for the police department...I moved here from the capital a few weeks ago, thought I would try out the big city life."

That wasn't exactly true...

"So far i've found it very exciting here"

Old Man Sensei's School of Butt Whoop

"Uggggh you're so slow!" Adrianna exclaimed, rushing over and deciding to fight along-side her brother...Whether he liked it or not. "Let's speed this up!" she yelled as she kicked at Musashi's face.

-Hawkins House

"What!? No no no darling! It's not because of that!" Melanie said quickly "You're so special my love! You don't need powers to make friends!"

In all truth Melanie was relieved that Blake hadn't shown signs of her or her husband's abilities...She wanted him to be normal. He deserved that much.

Narroh Apartment

Jason grinned, happy he could make his wife so excited after that little dinner mishap "Oklahoma" he answered with a grin "It just came out and I have heard from the guys at work that it's worth taking your girl out to"

The then pushed her out of the kitchen "Now you get dressed! I'll clean up this!"

Ellis Island

The strange woman finally managed to flag down a cab that was empty, the man inside eying the woman with a grin as she leaned in the window.

"Hey lady, need a lift?"

"Ja, bitte....Sprechen sie Deutsch?

The man blinked but then reacted "Oh! You're not from around here are you? Must be one of them Germans"

The woman gave a nod, "Take me to...Ein....Drei....Funf...Er....One....Three...Five...West street." she said, pulling out a piece of paper and handing it to him as she climbed into the car.

The man gave a nod "Oh! I know that place, an old cocktail bar! You come here to perform or something"

"Singer" she said simply. "Coming to America to...Work."

Naturally this was all just a lie.

"Alright then darling! I'll get you there in no time! What's your name? Just in case you end up famous"

"Kanna..."

[Broadway Coffee House]

Sama had no reason to believe Crystal's story was anything but true; and more importantly there was no evidence that could have attracted his detective skills, so he just grinnd.

“The capital, huh? Oh, sounds exciting! I've been there before a few times... though the last time I went I ended up finding a dead guy in my hotel room. The DC cops thought I did it, but luckily I was able to solve that one.”

He said this as if that was a normal thing to happen to someone.

“You'll like it here! New York is a craaaaazy city, but it's so much fun! And if you're still new here, I could show you around.”

[Old Man Sensei's School Of Butt Whoop]

Suddenly Musashi was being attacked by a second opponent; Adrianna! He spun, but was kicked and knocked back, his nose now bleeding. The boy grinned, rubbed the blood away from his nose and charged, trying to kick at Adrianna!

“I can handle two on one!”

[NYC Streets]

Still wandering the streets was a man with an eternal grin and a pale complexion. Rica was so happy to be back in America... it was a country where he always ended up having fun. Even if that sometimes meant a corpse or two.

He paused. He wondered if he should call Laila...?

Something was off about this man.

Still, not one to point the finger for awkwardness, he slowly stepped in, thanking him.

"Broadway, please."

Wait...did he know this man?

He was a tad uneasy, and felt at his revolver under his coat (but did not reveal it, of course."

“...If you're sure...” Blake said. In truth, he had always been a little jealous of the rest of his family. They could do amazing things...

Though...there was that bully a couple years ago. No one was quite sure what made the other boy suddenly fall apart and start crying for hours straight...

“We're sure!” Galv said, “Or, heck, maybe you got some other ability...Your grandfather, he was impervious to harm, you know. But he said it didn't kick in until he became an adult.

“But no matter what, you're special, Blake...And we all know you'll do great things...”

-Narroh Apartment-

Erin grinned, running to the room and changing into her nice dress, getting ready to go out.

“Oh, dear, maybe tomorrow, I'll be able to make something nice for us!” Erin shouted back to Jason from their bedroom, “Oh, and maybe Solana can come and visit us too!”

-Old Man Sensei's House of Butt Whoop-

“N-no, Adrianna!” Aaron said, as Adrianna joined in the fight, “D-don't do that! You'll get hurt!”

He wasn't worried about Musashi hurting her though.

“...Excuse me,” Old Man Sensei said to Nanami, then moved, getting in front of Adrianna.

“This is your brother's battle,” the old man said, shaking a finger at her, “Step back, or I will have to make you. Rule Number One, after all...”

"We are NOT testing that one out though" Melanie said suddenly, not quite keen on placing her son in harm to find out if he shared his grandfather's ability. Instead she looked at the boy, giving him a quick kiss and then setting him down. "Why don't you go off and play darling? I really should start dinner."

Joyce's room was a cluttered mess of crumbled up papers and old newspapers, but to her it was a journalist's paradise...Currently she was sitting in the midst of it all, jotting away a few new story ideas she had thought of on the way to her room. As much as it got her into trouble she couldn't help writing about the war.

Though at times she did wonder if she was crazy for being intrested in all of it....Maybe her father was right....Maybe everyone else was. Perhaps nothing would happen.

135th Street Cocktail Lounge

The taxi ride was a quiet one, Kanna sitting in the back, reapplying some makeup while the taxi driver attempted to drum up a bit of conversation. Unfortunately for him he wasn't getting more than two words from the woman.

Of course the man didn't think anything of it, after all the woman wasn't from around here....Sure was pretty though.

Finally the taxi pulled up to a nice looking cocktail lounge. The fron't of the building was bustling with people trying to head home for the night...Kanna tapped the driver's shoulder.

"Could you...take me...around?" she asked, motioning to an alleyway usually used for deliveries. Naturally the man gave a nod.

"Sure thing doll!" He pulled up to the back, where it was totally empty. There was a small door which looked cracked. Kanna couldn't help but to grin. "Here we are! You need any help with your bag?"

"No...I'm quite capible" she said, stepping out and handing the man a crisp $100 bill.

"Oh wow! What a tip" The man said excitedly, tipping his hat to the woman

"Oh...I don't think you'll be holding onto it very long" Kanna said with a grin...Her accent suddenly gone. The man frowned, ready to question the woman but soon found a pistol in his face. A second later there was a blast and Kanna re-pocketed her bill.....She supposed she would have to clean it off before using it though...Blood made it hard to spend money...Kanna slipped into the building.

.....Perhaps Joyce was on to something! D8

Narroh Apartment

"You look beautiful!" Jason said with a grin, taking the woman's arm. She then mentioned trying to cook again tomorrow. The boy sweatdropped and gave a little laugh "Uh...Or maybe we can go to that nice Italian place you like tomorrow! We'll have to see if Solanna is interested in joining us!"

Old Man Sensei's House of Butt Whoop

Adrianna glared at Old Man Sensei, trying to move past him. She hated being told what to do. "Move outta the way old man!" she yelled, obviously not having any sense of respect for her elder. "Aaron's taking too long! Ugh, he's just gonna get his butt whooped if I don't help"

Broadway Coffee House

Crystal grinned, playing with her napkin "I would like that" she said with a little smile "Though you don't think anyone at the department would mind do you...I really do need to try and keep my job, lest I have to move into a box in this city. It's a lot different than D.C." she said with a laugh. "Though I do REALLY want to hear more of your stories...You're a very intresting man mister detective"

[NYC Streets]

On one of the many busy streets of the world's busiest city, a pale man with dark hair stepped out of a taxi cab and tipped the driver. After the cab drove off, the man slipped away into one of the rather dirty alleys between two tall buildings, and then into a back alley not visible from the street.

The only company offered to him in this alley were a couple of wayward cats, and a smell that could only be described as... unpleasant. Still, Rica had dealt with far worse in his line of work.

He paused, and slipped off one of his shoes. And then, in a strange twist, brought it to his face and began to speak into it.

“Hello Sir... yes sir, I made it to America quite easily... yes sir, no problems so far. What's that? … No. I haven't begun my investigation yet. No... no, but I'm on it, sir. … I appreciate that sir. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I'm on it. Yes sir. Thank you, sir.”

Rica hung up his shoe phone and slipped it back on his foot. The man grinned, and then decided to slip back into the crowd probably doomed to come face to face with Kanna soon.

[Old Man Sensei's House Of Butt Whoop]

“Young lady... I suggest you do as the old man says. He could leave you very seriously injured... and I could do far worse.”

Nanami warned in her usually frosty tone. The girl did not like the idea of Musashi fighting ANYONE; but two opponents just made her uneasy. Usually when Nanami became uneasy, she started shooting people.

[Broadway Coffee House]

Sama shook his head.

“Aw, don't worry about it! They like me at the department. They don't like it when I make trouble or show off... but Lenny likes me. And as long as I help keep crime down, they'll put up with me.”

He paused when she mentioned the expenses of the city. He let out a small sigh. “Yeah I know what you mean... I've been hoping to move to a nicer apartment, but I can't afford it yet. Doesn't help that the department is always slow on payments.”

He chuckled. “And I'd be delighted to tell you as many stories as you'd like, Miss Rose. If I may be so bold, you seem a interesting woman yourself... and quite cute, too.”

[Cab]

The driver sat back in his seat, and almost immediately the locks in the backseat locked. The driver began to accelerate a bit too quickly, even by NYC cab standards. (And if you've taken a cab in NYC, you'll realize we're approaching nascar speeds.)

“Now. Explain to me who you are, and what business you have with Archer.” The driver demanded.
