I can't see what you're imagining
-Hawkins' House-

“We should just go in the front...” Sage said, “We're still kind of soaked though...”

“Joyce! Sage! Where were you two?”

Sage stiffened, turning and seeing Joyce's father walk up, still carrying Blake. Galv was frowning at the two.

-Flashback-

Lily paused, smiling at Elizabeth, “I think you might already have a sister...”

She looked to Melanie, “If your brother marries Melanie here, she'd be your sister-in-law, wouldn't she?”

The door opened, and Galv stepped in, looking a little confused and over his shoulder at the limo and man in the suit outside, coming to a stop as he stepped into the kitchen, where Melanie, Elizabeth, and Lily were.

He paused, staring at Lily for a moment. She seemed... familiar. Like he knew her from somewhere...

“Umm...hello...” Galv said.

Hawkins' House-

"Yeah good point-"

“Joyce! Sage! Where were you two?”

Joyce jumped, knowing they were dooooooooomed. She wiped some more water from her face. "H-Hi daddy....We just went...Out"

Flashback

Elizabeth frowned a bit, not knowing what this lady meant....

“If your brother marries Melanie here, she'd be your sister-in-law, wouldn't she?”

"I guess.......But I still much rather have a sister than a...ummmm....ummmm"

"Niece" Melanie clarified

Suddenly the door opened and Galv walked in. She young woman smiled, getting up and meeting Galv at the door and giving him a quick kiss. "You have a guest. From Gallic Enterprises. She's here about a job"

[Bank]

Sama nodded slightly to Crystal as he glanced towards the suspicious bankers in the corner. He slipped his hands in the pockets of his jacket and then quickly whispered back to her.

“Be careful. I’m going to have a look around this place.”

[Paris]

[Sarai’s House]

Connor nodded and waited for Kalyan to leave. It seemed that Sarai’s brother wasn’t going to be a problem; which was nice. The boy shuffled awkwardly as he looked over towards Sarai.

She had seen things… she saw Connor use his powers… and they had nearly been murdered by Nazis…

“Um… I’m sure you have a lot of questions.”

“Why are the two of you soaked?” Galv asked as well, then sighed, “Get inside. Get changed into something dry, Joyce. Sage, maybe you should go home to change yourself...”

Not like they'd have any clothes that would fit Sage...

“Umm... I'd rather not go home right now...” Sage answered.

Galc sighed, “Fine... You can get a towel and dry yourself off as best you can. Come on now, get inside...”

-Flashback-

Galv smiled as Melanie kissed him, kissing her back, then turned his attention to the red headed girl.

Why did she seem so familiar?

“Gallic Enterprises? I see...” Galv frowned. Samuel not made much of an impression on Galv, but the one thing he had impressed on him that he should not get involved in Gallic Enterprises...

“What kind of job are you offering?” Galv asked. He didn't like his dad anyways.

“We'd like you to come in, have an interview first,” Lily said, “But we are very interested in your skills... You're a mechanic, right?”

“Yah...” Galv answered, “I'm good, but I'm not anything special. I specialize in electrical engineering...”

Lily smiled, “Exactly. Gallic Enterprises wants to help bring everyone into this century... My father likes to look for those who are skilled but don't necessarily have the credentials. He finds those people tend to have more to prove.”

Galv was quiet, glancing towards Melanie, his eyes darting to her stomach. He needed the money, so he could afford a place with him and Melanie, and pay for a wedding...

“We'd pay you quite a bit, if we decide to hire you,” Lily added, “Enough you could get your own place, and your girlfriend wouldn't have to work as well.”

Galv sighed, “Alright. I'll come in for an interview... Miss...?”

“Gallic. Lily Gallic. I'm the CEO's daughter. Adopted, though,” Lily answered, getting up and shaking Galv's hand.

Galv froze. Was there a spark? A literal one, the feeling of electric energy... a sensation similar to when he and Elizabeth touched...

Lily just smiled, seeming to not notice anything, “Would tomorrow work for you? Five PM?”

“It... yah, that'd be fine...” Galv answered, as Lily stepped away. She let herself out, and Galv turned back to Melanie and Elizabeth.

“I guess this might be a good thing...” he said, though he seemed hesitant.

Paris streets

The monster burned with unholy fire as Oland grasped at it, and it carrened, still skidding, towards Alice and Aiden, with the force of a car-sized mass out of control (minus, perhaps, Oland's grappling).

From behind it, Didymus had fixed a bayonet and smashed one of his water orbs on it, and charged!
(Insert witty/moving/inspiring phrase here)

"You be careful too, don't get shot at" Crystal told him, moving in and kissing him before stepping back and heading along on the dancefloor. She wandered over to a few bankers, flashing a smile and waiting for one of them to ask her for a dance. Naturally she accepted, taking the man's arm and heading for a quick dance and the all-important small talk.

Meanwhile a woman in a slinky red dress was sipping a cocktail on her own. Her dark eyes were darting back and forth and her blood red lips were curled in a grin.

Madame Rouge was enjoying the quiet before the storm. NYC was nothing against the woman.

Hawkins' House

"Yes daddy..." Joyce said, heading into the house and being met by Melanie at the door.

"Joyce! Sage! What happened to you?" She exclaimed, having the same question as Galv.

"We went out...." she managed "Daddy told me to go change"

With that Joyce rushed up the stairs, leaving Sage with her mother. The woman instantly pulled the boy into the kitchen, sitting him down and grabbing a towel from the bathroom. "Here darling, dry yourself off. I'll make you a cup of tea."

She then started to make two cups of tea, looking to the boy every now and then as she worked. "How did you two manage to get soaked? I imagine it was Joyce's idea"

Paris

Sarai's House

Sarai was silent for a moment before giving Connor a nod. "I was waiting for you to bring it up...I don't want to intrude if it's something private"

She imagined this all was VERY private.

"Why did those men want to hurt your grandfather? I mean...He seems so kind...Hardly a person to have enemies..."

Flashback

Once Lily was gone Melanie rushed back at Galv, hugging him tightly. "Oh how exciting! To think a company that huge is interested in giving you a job!"

She didn't seem to see anything bad about this possible arrangement, but she also didn't know Lily and Galv were related...

"That lady was kinda strange" Elizabeth mentioned quietly. "I mean I never see people with hair as red as yours big brother" she added, now giggling.

"Elizabeth be nice" Melanie told her "It's not nice to call people strange"

"Sounds like a lot of fun..." Marco commented with a bit of a sigh.

"Especially if they try to sic that machine on us. I didn't really fly here completely prepared to deal with giant robots," he then added, "But ya, we should probably get out of here now."

New York City

-Hawkins' House-

Sage certainly wasn't going to tell Joyce's mother that they got soaked throwing a bomb into the river, so he racked his brain for something that had to seem a little plausible.

“It was... a taxi. It drove past us and hit a puddle, and got us both soaked,” Sage lied, “You know how that happens sometimes...”

Paris

-Streets-

Aiden shook a little, her fire coming in fits and spurts around her hands as the beast was skidding towards her and the others. She was not military, she wasn't a fighter, she didn't have any kind of training, but she didn't want to turn and run, but she didn't know what she could do. She was five foot nothing and didn't have much in the way of physical strength.

She gulped, closing her eyes and trying to focus, calming herself down enough that her fire stopped spurting in her hands, then dashed to the side! She couldn't stop the beast skidding, but if she could flank it, she might be able to distract it long enough for one of the others to do something...

-Waterfront Apartments-

“Fighting a giant robot? Sounds like it could be fun,” Aaron said almost idly. His father often liked to see what kind of challenges he could overcome, and Aaron had inherited a bit of that as well.

Flashback

“Heh, we're all kind of strange here,” Galv said, patting Elizabeth on the head, unconsciously doing the same thing his father did, “But she did seem really familiar, like I knew her from somewhere...”

Galv didn't know Lily was his twin either, not yet, at least.

“But it's definitely a good sign,” Galv said, moving towards Melanie and pulling her a little closer, grinning at the girl, “Hopefully it means we can get our own place, and get married...”

Darling, you know you can tell me what really happened. I won't let Joyce know" Melanie said with a slight smile, turning around and handing him a cup of tea to go with the towel. Hopefully it would help to warm him. "I doubt a puddle could get you this wet"

Melanie was very motherly, she had years of experience at this point. Even if she hated Sage's father she cared deeply for the boy. He was a good kid and needed someone to look after him.

Flashback

"That sounds wonderful" Melanie said with a smile, before hesitating. "But if you don't like the job you don't have to take it. I'm still okay to work, I don't mind"

Melanie was tough.

"Wait, if you get a new job that means you'll move?" Elizabeth asked, frowning.

Sage shook his head, “N-no really! It was just a really big puddle, it rained a lot yesterday, after all...”

He took the tea, patting himself as dry as he could with the towel, then took a sip of the tea.

He did pause for a moment, remembering why he got drenched, then spoke to Melanie.

“...Mrs. Hawkins... You don't think Joyce thinks I'm... weak, or something, because I don't have an ability like the rest of you... do you?” Sage asked after a moment. Joyce had said she should have taken care of the bomb, not him. But he didn't know what Joyce could have done that he couldn't there...

-Flashback-

Galv frowned, shaking his head, “No, you're pregnant, you shouldn't be working. Even my granddad says he's not going to charge you rent here for now...”

Galvan Tuirill wasn't the kind of guy who'd charge the mother of his great-grandchild rent.

But Galv and Melanie were still trying to save up money for the baby, among their other goals.

He sighed a little, then turned to Elizabeth, and smiled at the girl.

“We'd still be nearby, and we'll visit often, and you can visit us,” Galv said. He'd love to be able to have Elizabeth live with him still, but he didn't think they'd have enough money for a very big place.

"Oh darling, of course she doesn't think you're weak. You know, being strong doesn't just mean you have powers." Melanie said, leaning against the counter with a glass of water in her hands. "Joyce is a lot like her father, extremely gifted with her electricity but a bit too bullheaded for her own good. It's a good thing she has someone like you to keep her from doing something dangerous"

You know, like running around with bombs.

Flashback

"But I like you guys here" Elizabeth pouted "And I want to be there to take care of the baby"

Elizabeth loved her grandfather, but she was already lonely without her father....What if her brother left too. And Melanie was basically like a sister to her....

"Don't worry Elizabeth, you won't be alone. We'll make sure of it"

She moved back to the couch, placing a hand over her belly and turning her attention back to Galv. "No mater what you decide to do i'll support you"

Sage smiled a little, feeling relieved, “Thanks... I just... wanted to make sure.”

He did wince a little when Melanie mentioned she was glad he was around to stop Joyce from doing stupid and dangerous things, but nodded as well.

“She does have a habit of that... I'm always glad to help her out of that stuff too,” Sage said, “And thank you... To you and Mr. Hawkins. I don't really know much about the history between you two and my dad, but I know it's bad... I'm glad you can trust me...”

-Flashback-

Galv smiled to Melanie, and nodded. He loved Melanie with every fiber of his being, and he wanted to do right by her, no matter the cost. Even if it meant doing a job he hated, it would be worth it to come home and see her face, to wake up every morning with her beside him.

The next day, and Galv was wearing a hand me down suit that was a little to big for him, sitting across a desk. A woman with blonde hair and glasses sat across from him, and she was reading something.

“Now, Mr. Hawkins, I understand you're a mechanic by trade?” Claire Douglas asked, looking up towards Galv.

“Yes ma'am... I studied some engineering too, in college...” Galv answered.

“But you never got a degree?”

“No ma'am... I needed a job to help support myself and my sister. My grandfather was gracious enough to help, but I didn't want to take charity from him...” Galv replied.

“That's fine. We're mostly concerned with your skills. What papers you have doesn't mean much here,” Claire said.

There were a series of technical questions, and Galv was brought into another room with some machinery, and asked to repair it as best he could. He did so, Claire making more notes.

“Alright, Mr. Hawkins. One final thing. Mr. Gallic wants to see you himself,” Claire said. Galv's eyes widened... The president of the company himself?

“But... why?” Galv wondered.

“You'll find out after you talk to him,” Claire said, ushering Galv into a large room.

Sitting at the front of large table was Don Gallic. He had bright green eyes and slicked back black hair, wearing an impeccably tailored suit and red tie. Beside him was Lily, his adoptive daughter.

“Ahhh... Mr. Hawkins, it's good to meet you,” Don Gallic said, standing up. He held out his hand, and after a moment, Galv shook it, still in a bit of shock.

“Lily, Mr. Hawkins and I need to talk privately... do you mind?” Gallic asked the red headed girl. Lily nodded, and headed out of the room, accompanying Claire. When the door closed, Gallic motioned to a chair, then sat down.

“Mr. Hawkins... did you know your parents use to work for me?” Gallic asked as they both sat down.

“I... no sir... well... I knew my father use to. He said I should never take a job from you though, to be perfectly honest...” Galv answered.

“Did he? I can't say we parted on amiable terms. There was some bad blood I'm sorry was never cleared up,” Gallic sighed, “But yet you came in anyways. May I ask why?”

“Well...sir... I'm going to be a father,” Galv answered, “I have a girl I want to marry, and she's going to have my kid... I want to be able to support them.”

Gallic smiled, “Ahhh. A noble goal. Here at Gallic Enterprises, we do provide support and benefits to family members. We're the only company that does so, and even help provide retirement plans for our former employees.”

Don Gallic wanted his employees to feel wanted. He felt employees who thought they were wanted and well taken care of put more effort into their jobs, and his company was doing extremely well.

“I'm going to be frank with you, Mr. Hawkins... I'm not only hiring you for your mechanical attitude, though I hear that's considerable. I know about your ability, just as your parents had one. Electric manipulation, isn't it?” Don Gallic asked bluntly.

Galv was put off for a moment, then nodded, “Umm... yes sir... Same as my mother.”

Gallic nodded, “Yes... She was very good at it. How are you at the ability?”

Galv was quiet, considering the question, “Well... I've never gone all out, but before my mother died, she said she was pretty sure I had more raw power then her...”

“Do you know? That's interesting. We may have to test that, if you don't mind,” Gallic said, “Of course, that's if you take the job.”

“Sir... what is the job, exactly?” Galv asked, “It's all been fairly vague...”

Gallic smiled, “Of course... Let me tell you...”

Back at home, there was desperate knocking at the door.

Samuel was back, pounding on the door, looking worried...

Melanie smiled, leaning in and placing a hand on Sage's shoulder. "What your father has done had nothing to do with you" she told him sternly. "You are your own person, and i've already seen greatness in you. I trust you with Joyce 100 times over, I know you're a good kid"

Now Galv's opinion might be totally different...

"Sorry I took so long"

Melanie turned to see Joyce, change into a new set of clothes, her long hair sill wet and curled around her face. Instantly the woman went over her daughter offering her a cup of tea. "Here honey, drink"

"Thanks momma" she said, taking the cup and looking to Sage. She blinked "You okay?"

Flashback

Galv had left for his interview awhile ago, so Melanie was sitting alone with several pieces of paper surrounding her....She was trying to write a letter to her mother...She wasn't sure where Kanna was right now, but she would send out a few, letting her know that she was expecting-

Suddenly there was a loud knock on the door. Melanie jumped just stood up, rushing to the door.

Whens he opened it the woman's eyes widened. "S-Samuel?"

Sage felt better now, then looked towards Joyce when she came back down, taking her own cup of tea.

“It's nothing,” Sage said to Joyce, giving the girl a smile, “Your mom and I were just talking a little.”

Galv sat down in the living room, still holding Blake. Galv closed his eyes, his hair and Blake's standing up on end slightly as Galv focused. Galv sparked, and Blake opened his eyes, blinking rapidly, then stared up into his father's eyes.

“You burned through a lot of your energy, saving all the people in that building...” Galv said.

“You're... not mad at me, are you?” Blake asked, looking worried.

Galv gave Blake a smile, hugging him tightly, “No son. I could never be mad at you for helping others. I was worried about you, but I wasn't mad. You want to use your gift for good... It makes me very proud, son.”

Flashback

Samuel stepped inside, looking around.

“Where's Galv?” Samuel asked, looking a little wild eyed, “Is he here? I heard he was contacted by Gallic Enterprises...”

Joyce wasn't sure if she liked the idea of Sage and her mother 'talking'...Well she supposed it was better than Sage and her dad...That would probably end violently.

"Mom, i'm really sorry about going out without asking you and dad" she said, taking a sip of her tea. She felt a little jolt of energy, similar to what her father felt when eating sugar.

"I would say it's alright, but it really wasn't darling. It's dangerous out there and you two are still young"

"Awww mom, we're not babies"

"Perhaps not, but you're not an adult. There are plenty of people out there who would want to hurt you" Melanie said, moving forward and brushing some hair out of Joyce's face. It was crazy how similar the two looked (a lot like how Melanie looked just like her own mother).

Flashback

"He d-did" Melanie said, still caught off guard by Samuel's behavior. She placed a hand over her belly and stepped back. "He left for his interview. W-What's the matter?"

She wondered if she should go get Elizabeth, the small girl was taking a nap in her room...At the same time she was a little bit taken aback by the man.
